4CC FD:
omg i enjoyed that so much - youtube has C/B as the thumbnail on the FD, and usually they put the winner, so i watched the whole event thinking C/B won and was pleasantly surprised at the end haha
LaLa having a mistake on their twizzles of all things was also a surprise. it cost them maybe 4-6 points. if CPom hadn't lost balance at the end in the ChSp which cost them 2-3 pts, they would have been ahead of LaLa in the FD, though not enough to medal
Z/K looked so disappointed in their scores. they had a ! in their ChSt - not sure why, but it cost them a couple points - but in general the GOE were a little lukewarm. i think the music in the 2nd half lets them down - there's a coolness to it that doesn't draw you in - the first half is in a flowing 3 time, and their OFt especially is beautiful, but the second half is in 7 to a bar, which is a strange meter that feels off kilter and never feels grounded. this program has its moments, and they're undeniably talented, but it's a miss overall for me
Hannah and Ye looking good - they changed the ChLi at the end:
new lift ➡️ original - their balance and her flexibility are so good either way, but why the change. they also got a ! called on their ChSt - they were close to both boards, and i don't see a retrogression? so not sure why. they must be working on what they have to improve to be considered with the group of teams above them - they're maybe just under the top dozen to 15 teams in the world right now?
CPom were the "nice kids" a few seasons ago, but they've changed that perception of them- Anthony with Perfume, Christina with Carmen - along with how they've leveled up as skaters. it feels like they potentially have the right momentum going into the end of the quad. they need to just keep doing what they're doing at Worlds. today they felt just ever so slightly off - like they didn't hit the music at a couple crucial moments, and they've built the intensity in this program a little more before. but they're at a point when there's so much quality to what they're putting on the ice
LaLa even besides the twizzle error had little off moments, like their spin was really slow at the start. but they have so much presence and musicality, her carriage and extension are beautiful, and their speed and power are up to the scope of this music. i think the program's intended to build and build until the choreo slide releases the tension. they've gotten it to different degrees, but not quite all the way? so i hope they achieve it at Worlds
i like this Clair de Lune program on H/C - they seem to feel at home in it, unlike their ocean FD from last season. they've tended to have many oops moments in competitions, but this season, they seem more grounded and confident. still want him to match her posture more
today i was noticing more than usual how Paul has much better carriage than Piper, and it looked like they weren't as secure in the step sequences as they are at their best. still, they had the highest scored ChSt of the day with their tango sequence, and highest total scores on their lifts - kept them close enough to win. this FD has some really beautiful gliding moments, and her new dress moves a little better. i'm glad it's not a total lock for C/B going into Worlds
when the skating itself is arresting, it's easier to stay engaged - you don't need flash when just moving across the ice has beauty and power. Madi and Evan are very skilled performers, they have some great elements. but they're missing that highest quality relationship between them and the ice. and i like this program. but at the end of the day, they shouldn't be getting such high PCS for skating skills, idgi
