your m+ posting always makes me wanna try it but it still scares me so hard as someone who rarely does dungeons and has never done m+ before (even tho iā€™ve raided a lot and am fine w that). do you have any tips on how to get started w m+ or anything for people new to it?
OMG YAAAAY okay i can actually give you tips that helped me because i didnt do a single m+ dungeon until late bfa, and i didnt do anything above a 10 until shadowlands season 2 which was also the first season i started doing like "high" keys if you want to call it that. but i always really wanted to try it all of legion and most of bfa i was just so scaredpilled and terrifiedmaxxing. ok anyway AUTISM BLAST READMORE OF DOOM
#1 thing i would recommend is doing a youtube binge of a bunch of guides for the current season's dungeons thats aimed at newer players or people unfamilliar with the m+ environment and then going in on a regular mythic or a +2 until you personally feel comfortable and think you have a grasp of whats going on. you can watch as many guides as you want but nothing's going to teach you like throwing yourself in there and doing it for yourself. idk if youve done dawn of the infinites before it was turned into m+ (or at all) but it had a few more mechanics and quirks for some bosses and they were a LOT harder at the time (morchie, chrono lord deios, and manifested timeways come to mind). my first time doing it my friends literally summoned me after the first boss because their tank dropped group and needed one and i had to learn everything on the fly with them explaining it over voice and while it was horrifying it was a good learning experience. for this season specifically, this video is a decent "cheat sheet" for all of the bosses and their mechanics that you can just skip through for a general idea of things, and this playlist consists of videos for each dungeon that are super in depth and basically explain what's going on from dungeon entrance to dungeon end. trash packs, dangerous abilities, what each role should be focusing on, bosses and their mechanics, etc
you said you already raid so i don't have to preach the whole "know your class" thing but m+ is an entirely different beast from raid requiring a different mindset and your personal responsibility pretty much skyrockets across the board. tank is pretty chill in raid but in m+ it's much harder because you have no cotank and you're the one calling the shots and setting the pace and you're sort of expected to know exactly what you're doing and how you're going to do it and if it deviates at all from what they expect you better be able to prove it wasn't a bad idea. i dont heal in raids so i dont really know how it is but i can't imagine that going from 5~ cohealers to none makes you feel any better and being able to compensate for everybody else's mistakes that aren't a literal 100-0 oneshot is pretty much required and very much not for the weakhearted. as dps you go from one in a million to expected to do your job because a dps in m+ who doesnt do their job (ccing, not getting hit, using defensives) is a lot more noticeable and problematic than a dps in raid who doesn't do their job because a bad dps in raid is just mildly irritating but a bad dps in m+ can make or break the run
across the board for all roles i think the #1 mindset change to adopt is a much heavier focus on mob control and having the proper utility to survive both mobs and bosses. this usually boils down to taking every cc talent you can spare the points for and sometimes sacrificing damage to take a talent point in being able to dispel diseases, or purge etc. you can usually get away with not taking the right utility talents in raid unless it's something like stampeding roar or darkness because you probably have somebody else who can do it for you. you can't really get away with that in m+ because you're running into situations where you have to interrupt or stun or purge or slow or knockback or run away or heal yourself or press your immunity button from the moment you put the key in until the last boss dies and you often have to exhaust every button available to you as soon as it's ready. sometimes its not enough, sometimes everybody's all out of buttons, and you just have to survive until things die. if you watch m+ streamers at all then you already know things are just constantly happening all the time and it never stops but most streamers play in coordinated groups with voice chat which reduces the difficulty of these dungeons by like 50% imho. if you're pugging then you have to play the game like everybody else in your group is a fucking idiot (which is just going to be true most of the time) and plan around the possibility that you have to do the job of 5 people
if you want to know what other people are running or what the best setup for your class is in m+, i recommend cross referencing between the m+ sections of both icyveins and wowhead, your class's discord, and subcreation.net and seeing what seems to be a common denominator between all or most of them. emphasis on cross referencing because most of these have their flaws. class discords are objectively super helpful and up to date but are usually full of freaks detached from reality who are physically incapable of doing anything except circlejerking. subcreation is a data website that just shows what most people are rocking irt talents/gear, and while i personally use it religiously many people advise against data websites because they don't give the big picture on why people are running x and/or y. i dont see a problem with that, it's just best used in tandem with other resources. i don't have any negative things to say about wowhead or icyveins, they're just authored by different types of hosts (wowhead guides are often maintained by one person who's really good at what they do naturally, icyveins guides are the product of class discords and thus are sort of a group effort). i personally like to refer to wowhead more because there's a lot more little comments and notes by authors explaining the rationale behind why x is good and y is bad or maybe if you're this type of player you'd prefer this instead of that. again, you might know all of this as a raider, but idk the extent of your raiding experience and it doesn't hurt to bring it up just incase. here's the subcreation page for havoc dh, which is my main, to give you an idea of what that website provides. i think an underrated benefit of subcreation stems from it "hiding" all of the talent points that are taken 99% of the time, so anything that remains is usually a flex point for a reason you have to figure out through the other resources listed. to use havoc dh as an example, the flex points in the class tree are usually just different choices made with utility (aoe fear, longer throw glaive or throw glaive that slows enemies, longer spectral sight etc), but in the spec tree there's only one flex point, and there's 3 different options that all fill the same niche (your burst aoe button) but are WILDLY different in how they play. i know why theyre picked and when, but if i didnt, id probably look at icyveins and wowhead. and to use havoc dh as an example again, glaive tempest is rarely mentioned on those websites compared to fel barrage and essence break, and if i wasn't very familiar with the class i'd be a bit confused. so that's where i'd go into the class discord and literally ctrl-f "glaive tempest" lol. i think this is honestly more relevant in m+ than in raid because raid is going to be focused on single target builds 99.9% of the time, but you need a mixed damage profile in m+ and that just naturally leads to more diverse builds that do different types of damage. the same thing can apply to healing and tanking though. m+ healing has a higher emphasis on "on-demand" spot healing, 1-5 target group healing but no more than 5, and damage is going to be more relevant here than in raid. m+ tanking will start to prioritize generating as much threat as you can in a very short amount of time to multiple targets, anything that will help specifically make you tankier vs multiple targets for an extended period of time, and crowd control, which is usually not something you see in raid.
do it scared. if youre scared to do it bad you still have to do it scared. there's no way to stop being scared than to do it scared. tell people you're still learning mechanics in a +2 and they will either not care in the slightest or be more than happy to explain things
a quick "shit, thats my bad" is like an irl soothe. will instantly diffuse any potential conflict unless somebody's just a cunt. then they're not worth your time. make a macro to say "oops mb" if you have to. it shows that you're not a dick and you are cognizant of your own abillity to fuck up and are therefore aware of what the correct thing to do was
in turn, dont be the cunt unless somebody is a cunt to you first. flaming people is worth it approximately 1% of the time. you probably aren't inclined to do this while you're still scared but wanting to punch your monitor because some dipshit just failed the easiest mechanic in the world is eternal in both raiding and m+ once you know what you're doing. there will come a point where somebody dying at a bad time to stupid shit is going to ruin the key. (thankfully you don't reach that point until the mid 20s, but people will act like that's true much sooner than that). they probably know they fucked up and you likely don't have to say anything more than "gg". there is also a point where it is expected of everybody to be able to do things with a moderate amount of intelligence. if somebody dies to a very easy to avoid ground aoe multiple times that most everybody in your group forgot could even one shot because it's that easy to avoid, yes, a little bit of "wtf are you doing you idiot" could be warranted. if you're the one dying to stupid shit, pull out the "mb dunno whats up with me right now" and clear your head. if somebody else is the one dying to stupid shit, accept you can't do anything about it besides be mildly irritated.
build good habits for mechanics early. unfortunately in a +2 and honestly for most keys until the high teens / low 20s depending on your gear, shit is just going to tickle and you're not really going to notice it. other people also just aren't going to do mechanics most of the time unless it is an actual intentional pass/fail that will most likely kill you or wipe you on every key level. i think the best way to circumvent this is to treat every swirlie like it will kill you, like every frontal will kill you (unless it's a designated tank frontal and you're the tank, and even then, treat it like it will kill you and mitigate it), like every unkicked cast could kill you, so on and so forth. obviously this is much easier said than done.
sort of related to the previous point, i also believe that you don't really learn to respect a mob or a boss until it turns around and slaps you for 2x your health bar. it's like a fun hidden reputation bar. you start a +2 tyrannical black rook hold with the risen arcanist being at 0/10000 "what does this guy even do" and one day in your first +25 bolstered fortified black rook hold the risen arcanist will arcane blitz you for 7 million damage when you have 800k hp and suddenly you're 10000/10000 "im going to have nightmares about this mob for the rest of my life" and you will have learned a valuable lesson. then, and only then, do you understand on a fundamental and atomic level why the risen arcanist must be treated with the respect that it demands, and what cooldowns you have to reserve for it in the next run. this is just a part of putting in the reps and doing it scared and just jumping right in. you will learn over time what mobs you HAVE to respect and which ones are allowed to get a few casts off or live a bit longer in favor of the more threatening ones. you will also learn which boss abilities are just a rough slap across the face and which ones are Literally 9/11 which will just instantly fucking kill you with no hope of ever surviving without pressing your biggest defensive, which sometimes means you just have to rawdog the slaps across the face so that you dont get instantly fucking killed by Literally 9/11. guides will always tell you this sort of thing and what to watch out for but just like how you dont really learn mechanics from reading about it, you dont learn that a +25 tyrannical iridikron's stonecracker barrage is just going to fucking kill you if you dont do something about it and it probably will kill you even if you DO do something about it and that's just the reality we live in and your next step is to find out if you cuold have done anything more to prevent it.
ok thats enough typing from me. if you ever have specific questions you can always send an ask again. i wish u luck i lov dis game mode i hope u enjoyed my autism wall of text <3

You know, you remind me of someone I know. Me! topkek. I actually got back into MegaZeux last year just to "see if I could" still have some vague idea of how to code tile-based games. Honestly, my progress with my stupid little game astounded me. I managed to code a Wolfenstein 3-D-style "guard pathway" system without too much trouble, among some other things. "To see if I could" is sometimes a very powerful motivator. For better or worse, though, I feel like my main motivator beyond that isā€¦ spite. I've made a lot of Mega Man 2A03 arrangements purely because the ones in Mega Man Maker were so crap. Hee hee.
Anyway. In my experience, making a game (or getting, say, a bloody title screen to work) is rarely fun. I mean, sure, I've gotten utterly lost in the code (MegaZeux, ROM hackingā€¦) as I troubledshooted the same thing for three hours straight only to find out, "Oh! It was this little thing I overlooked all along!" And yes, that dopeamin hit when it all comes together is freaking sweet as Lik-M-Aid powderā€¦ but yeah. The road there is fraught with ick and bleh, not to mention a lot of confused swearing~ So, yeah. I understand wanting to do the graphics first ā€” especially if they're UI-related.
Regarding the whole "duct tape and bubble gum" thingā€¦ Yeah. I helped with several Sprites, Inc. projects and a couple of Blyka's Door's games. Also, I played through Mega Man Eternal, somehow. I am all too familiar with the "duct tape and bubble gum" method of programming. Also, the original Battletoads was very fragile, too. Something to think about~
As I implied, I like to think that the code comes first, the graphics and sound come later. That's how I'd do it, anyway, but that doesn't necessary mean it's "right" or "correct". Game development is all about priorities. Not "necessities". Priorities. And unless you're under contract, those priorities should be personal ones. Don't let me or anyone tell you what you should do, when, where, and especially how. If it works for you, then that's all that matters, yo.
Regarding the save game systemā€¦ The hell are you using? Klik 'n Play? Without user-made plugins? That system you're using sounds terrible and bad. d: Joking (???) aside, it baffles me that whatever save system you're using is that convoluted. Even old DOS games that I love sometimes just use, like, 24 consecutive bytes of data rather than this whole big thing. Now, having it encoded is good to prevent people from editing their saves. I actually poked around the Mega Man 2.5D save files and force-unlocked stuff since it's just a simple INI file with open variables. (Which is another option.) But, if you're serious about not letting people cheat their way through, then yeah. I guess encoded JSON works.
As for save file content? I more or less just listed all the possibilities I could think of, thinking of fan games like Rock 'n Roll and Unlimited, or even Mega Man 9 or 10. Honestly, most of that stuff I mentioned is entirely useless if you're just making a simple NES-style game. All you need is game progress. That's it. Everything else is a frivolity. Maybe Tanks and/or Lives if you're feeling generous, but beyond that? Just progress. It'd be very Mega Man 2 style, in that regard. And honestly, the culumuative totals thing is something no game has done, as far as I'm aware. It was something I considered, since games like Chrono Trigger have been on my mind, lately.
You really have no idea how the save system works, though? None at all? Oh, you sweet summer childā€¦ Please, consider Godot. Quickly. (,:

@megaman-r, @afniel
I should probably clarify what I meant.
When I say "backward", I mean that when work actually begins on a game, there's typically kind of anā€¦ orderā€¦ to how things should logically go: make the game engine and all the conceptualized bits and bobs, test to satisfaction, and then make all the assets. A lot of people do it the other way, though. I used to, back when I dabbled. Realistically, though, making the entire engine first with all it entails just makes more sense to me, these days.
As for the save system? Here's what I expect from a Mega Man save:
Save Game Slot
Stages beaten and/or weapons collected (2 to 4 bits?*)
Lives, Tanks, collectable inventory (1 byte** each)
Permanent inventory (Energy Balancer, et cetera) (1 bit)
Score, if enabled (4 bytes)
Game difficulty, if enabled (1 byte)
Character, if applicable (1 byte)
New game or replay, if applicable (1 byte) - These three can probably be combined into one bit
Time played in hh:mm:ss format (3 or 4 bytes)
Deaths, if applicable (1 byte)
Other stats (E-Tanks chugged, enemies destroyed, and so on) (1 byte each)
Overall Save Stats
Games played, beaten, et cetera (1 byte each)
Features unlocked (1 or 2 bits, number of unlocks depending)
Overall time played in dd:hh:mm:ss format (1 and 4 bytes?)
(* Bits in "hex format" 8 possible "hard values" per bit: $01, $02, $04, $08, $10, $20, $40, $80 Use bit math for combinations.
Examples: - Stage 1 and Stage 3 beaten = $05 - Stages 2, 5, and 8 beaten = $92 - Stages 1 through 8 beaten = $FF
** Bytes are just standard hex bytes: $00 - $FF 10 = $0A, 99 = $63, et cetera. Multi-byte values stored in reverse order.) ā€”
... I've put a lot of thought into this. (,:

Characters: Erithon Zale, Republic Trooper; Aitahea Daviin, Jedi Consular; Elara Dorne; respective Trooper & Consular crewmembers.
Setting: The Trooperā€™s Ship, Triumph Rising, immediately prior to Corellia
Spoilers: Through Chapter 3
Summary: Cut off from communications and distractions while in hyperspace, Erithon finds himself penning a desperate missive to a certain Jediā€¦ but does he have the courage to send it? Meanwhile, the Barsenā€™thor considers the larger ramifications of her personal decisions, and even the Force brings no comfort.
Notes: Solidly inspired by Lauvā€™s ā€œiā€™m so tiredā€¦ā€ and thank you to @taraum for beta-reading. <3
ā€œIā€™m so tired of love songs,ā€ Erithon muttered, muting the crackling audio and flipping the datapad to the end of his bunk. They were en route to Corellia, open war calling Havoc to the front lines. Everything was a disaster.
Erithon snatched up the datapad again. ā€œThanks but no thanks, Galactic Top Forty,ā€ he grumbled, scrolling through the limited music theyā€™d picked up while in orbit over Voss. Being both isolated and neutral, the list of updates from the Core was woefully small.
Once in hyperspace, Erithon and his crew had found themselves with several hours to kill before reaching Corellia. Havoc was doing their usual routines to prep for a challenging mission: Elara & Aric having a pleasant argument about regulations, Yuun meditating or researching, Vik had taken up trying to teach Forex to play sabaac (strangely, the droid couldnā€™t seem to outwit the Weequay after two weeks; Vik was of course cheating).
Erithon had promised Elara heā€™d try to sleep.
[AO3 flavor found here.]
But every little noise the Triumph Rising made as she careened through hyperspace got on Erithonā€™s last nerve, conjuring visions of impossible stray hyperspace garbage tearing his ship to pieces, or dropping out of hyperspace out to find Corellia in Imperial hands and his allies in the hands of-
Augh, stop it.
So he turned on the only music he could find in the datapadā€™s drive, something months old already, never listened to. A young man opined about love songs, perhaps a statement on the music business more than his actual love life.
It was something Aitahea had recommended, laughing that she had a younglingā€™s taste in music, but she had been raised in Jedi enclaves after all. Of course that was ridiculous because despite saying that, sheā€™d sent him everything from a rare recording of the Cathedral of Winds to some cantina band off Tattooine.
Her galaxy seemed so expansive, so engaging, and he had somehow found a place in it. He wasnā€™t about to let that go just because the war was back on and the Core Worlds were fracturing and-
He saw the messages icon out of the corner of his eye, blinking in electronic frustration when it couldnā€™t connect to the holonet feed, interrupted as they were in hyperspace.
A message.
Why not? He wasnā€™t sleeping, so he might as well make the most of his time.
***
Listen.
I love you.
I should have told you on Voss. By the Core I should have told you on Alderaan if Iā€™m being either honestly stupid or stupidly honest, probably both. Iā€™m not sappy enough to take ā€œlove at first sightā€ seriously, and I donā€™t think you are, either. But weā€™re living out some old fairytale here, donā€™t you think? Ā
Iā€™m sorry I kissed you on Nar Shaddaa. No, I mean, Iā€™m not. I mean, I took advantage of our position. But then you kissed me back, and then you were mad about that, and it was a screw up, but I canā€™t bring myself to regret it.
Iā€™m sorry I didnā€™t kiss you on Voss. You have never failed to give everything for everyone, no matter who they are. From the moment we met - on Taris I mean, not to mention when we were kids but thatā€™s a whole other message to be honest.
I donā€™t remember giving anyone permission to write me as the love interest in a holodrama. Where was I?
Every time we meet somehow you end up in my arms, and I havenā€™t stopped feeling thrilled when I find you there again. Iā€™ve seen you take your gloves off when you see me coming. Not for your crew, not for mine, not for the damn Jedi Council or the Chancellor. Me.
So on Voss there you were in my arms again and for a minute I thought you were dying, and I couldnā€™t tell you I loved you and that there was so much that I did and didnā€™t regret saying and doing. For you. With you.
And Corellia will probably kill us so I needed you to know. Iā€™m okay if we canā€™t be together, I can accept that, and Iā€™m not sure what Iā€™ve done in this life to deserve someone like you anyway.
You told me once we found each other when we needed the other most. I have never needed, wanted, anything more in my entire life than you. Itā€™s complicated, I know, but if we somehow survive this I promise itā€™ll be worth it.
See you soon.
***
Erithon pushed send.
Fuck.
He punched at the screen a few times, frowned, and then his eyes went wide. ā€œWait. The relay. Wait.ā€
This is bad very bad but thereā€™s maybe a chance-
Erithon skidded out of his quarters and through the ship looking for Dorne.
ā€œElara!ā€ he called, fighting to keep his voice even. The medic appeared in the doorway of the med bay alone, eyes still on her datapad. Erithon exhaled explosively, relieved. ā€œHey, Elara, can you delete a message from the hyperspace relay queue?ā€
Dorne dropped her ā€œPer regulations, sir, Iā€™m not allowed, it would have to be you or Jorgan. I can only-ā€
ā€œFine, permission granted, whatever, can you do it? You have the helm, so Iā€™m locked out of messaging administration.ā€
ā€œAre you off duty then, sir? I can only return you to service after youā€™ve rested the allotted period, and itā€™s only-ā€ Dorne paused to glance at her chrono and Erithon took the opportunity to interrupt the fastidious officer again.
ā€œElara, it was to Aitahea.ā€
Dorneā€™s face went deathly still for a moment before she recovered her usual aplomb. ā€œI take your meaning, sir. Give me a few moments.ā€
Dorne rushed back into the med bay while Erithon paced the room a few times. He looked at an old analogue chrono on the wall (when had they gotten that?) and watched the seconds tick by. How long had it been? When were they due to drop out of hyperspace?
ā€œSir?ā€
Erithon jumped at Elaraā€™s soft query, wrapped tight in his thoughts. ā€œYeah?ā€
ā€œItā€™s taken care of, sir.ā€ Elation clasped her hands in front of her, flustered. ā€œYes, sir.ā€ She pauses for a moment, gathering her courage. ā€œPermission to speak freely, sir?ā€
ā€œOf course,ā€ Erithon replied, distracted by relief.
ā€œSir, we all adore Master Aitahea. Even Vik, I think. And we can see thatā€¦ā€ Elara shifted awkwardly. ā€œSheā€™s important to you. We understand if that means things here have to change.ā€
Erithon turned to look at his medical officer with hollow eyes. ā€œI canā€™t get an answer out of her, Elara. And now weā€™re in open war, it just canā€™t be. Sheā€™s a Jedi.ā€
ā€œSir, Iā€™ve actually studied the Jedi recently. Itā€™s rare for them to establish romantic relationships, but not completely unheard of. They have some regulations, not dissimilar to our own.ā€
Erithon chuckled. ā€œFive credits you know what forms are required from memory.ā€
ā€œItā€™s form number fourteen hundred thirty-two A for the ranking officer and number fourteen hundred thirty-seven B for the lower rank, unless one isnā€™t in the-ā€
ā€œThanks, Elara, I get the point.ā€
ā€œThe Barsenā€™thor technically outranks you, sir.ā€ā€œElara.ā€
The woman sighed. ā€œSorry, sir.ā€ She turned back towards the medbay, giving her a sidelong glance, a mix of pity and concern. ā€œPage me if you need anything, sir.ā€
ā€œYeah.ā€ Erithon missed her pointed expression, back to exploring his snarled feelings.

What?! Two mega streams in just a few days?!
Yeah, and I might do another today (10th) but itā€™s far too early to decide just yet. I want to get going through this game and want to put some hours into streaming! :D
Now, a heck of a lot of progress has been made and I hit what I currently believe is the downright coolest place and part of the game so far conceptually- it even has fan service which I unapologetically loved.
The Dead Sea~
Some fun tidbits from the journey~
- Found the pirates in my world
- IMMEDIATELY figured out they cheat at gambling through a scene not meant to teach me that they cheat (the tutorial)
- IMMEDIATELY second guessed myself about them cheating and wasted time in the story-sequence gambling
- Understood the hint (bar and inn) but attempted to explore this during a game state in which nothing would happen (if you go to the inn while Fargo is in the casino then you donā€™t get the scene showing they cheated because THEY ARE BUSY CHEATING- MAKES SENSE, BUT SCREWED ME OVER BIG TIME | Go to the bar while Fargo is waiting for you and you get the magic scene BUT you canā€™t turn into a cat unless Fargo isnā€™t waiting on you hence the inn is open hence you can be a cat and go in the inn)
- So basically I got hungup and annoyed because progress triggers werenā€™t considerate of my game state. They were considerate enough to allow you to see the magic show- and considerate enough to move the inn-keeper for plot reasons- but this put me in a unique place where IĀ ā€œthoughtā€ I knew what to do, but the game said no because I sent Fargo to the casino when I should have gone to these places while he was in his room.
- Fargo is a total evil hearted jerkwad in my world all because his love died, like, just a total piece of work. Screw Fargo, man. He outright is going against what his love wanted because sheā€™s dead? Screw you, man.
- I still adore Nikki and I have to admit a huge twist of charm when the sage said he wouldnā€™t teach the song only to say he had work to doĀ ā€œwhile I hum a tuneā€, that was corny and I loved it.
- Masamune stuff was cool- itā€™s neat to see how a legendary sword could be tainted in a way that explodes the userā€™s darkest feelings such as jealousy.
- The fact that Lynx can now, inexplicably, travel between worlds destroys my belief that the body stealing made sense only from the point of view of stealing Sergeā€™s world shift ability- making the body stealing almost entirely pointless and dumb for its use in the story as it currently only exists so he can frame Serge which people will apparently believe despite MAGIC EXISTING IN THIS WORLD.
- Iā€™m honestly finding a lot of joy in exploring this story, warts and all, heck, especially the warts lol.
- WAIT, THERE WAS A MAGIC SHOW, A **MAGIC** SHOW, AND PEOPLE DIDNā€™T BELIEVE THE MAGICIAN WAS REAL? IN A WORLD WITH MAGIC?? THIS GAME WORLD MAKES LESS THAN ZERO SENSE, IT IS SO UTTERLY BAFFLING. YOU CAN BUY MAGIC AT THE STORE! YOU CAN LITERALLY BUY FIREBALLS AT THE LOCAL KROGER! WHAT?!!
-Thereā€™s so much more in the vod but I will say, yet again, the dead sea was such an immense treat, my god. The aesthetic of just the sea is breathtakingly cool- frozen waves stuck in time around a mass of futuristic (but clearly old and dead) buildings and highways. The center being a blackhole nucleus of buildings crashed together, steel folding and bending into a new shape. Chrono Trigger ties for fanservice and minor (not entirely clear because I guess they want to explain more later) explanations of why the timeline is split. A boss fight I found difficult but very very cool. It was amazing.
- Oh, and this comes from theĀ ā€œnot entirely clear explanationā€ part- but apparently Serge was WITH his dad when they came to the sea of Eden? I hadnā€™t expected that in the slightest- I thought Serge was home with his mom when his dad disappeared in the sea? Though maybe thatā€™s the reason time is busted- maybe his dadā€™s deal with the voice we heard was to change time so Serge never came on the trip? But that has nothing to do with the panther imagery and now Iā€™m thinking in a circle, Iā€™ll simply continue playing and if itā€™s unclear Iā€™ll look it up at the end and realizeĀ ā€œOh Redphienix/Retphienix, you didnā€™t pay attention to the very obvious explanation from this character whom you talked to at the start of the gameā€ which I wouldnā€™t doubt in the slightest.
- Considering the things they see fit to repeat ad nausea you think that would be clear if it was stated though, so Iā€™ll assume things are still blurry in general which is fine.

I'm so in love Eight Precepts of Death!! So, for a start, may I ask SFW headcanons with Chisaki, Chrono, Setsuno, Rappa, Nemoto (maybe?) and fem s/o?
Youā€™re not the only one, I assure you. So shook by chapter 159, I cannot wait to see what happens next. Also kind of scared but I wonā€™t say anything on that.
Chisaki:
ā—¾ļø Not good at tellingĀ you that he loves/cares about you but heā€™s good at showing it.
ā—¾ļø In fact, maybe a little too good. People get hurt when they disrespect you. The kind of hurt that 99% of them never come back from.
ā—¾ļø Buys you a lot of things. Sometimes he makes his underlings buy things forĀ himĀ to give to youĀ if he has no clue what youā€™d like, so youā€™ll end up with random presents sometimes. Eventually you catch on and can even tell what gifts are from who. Fashionable items from Chrono usually. Extremely random objects from Rappa. Lingerie from Rikiya. Sake from Deidoro.
ā€œOverhole told me to get you somethin! He didnā€™t want you to know that though. Shit..ā€ Rappa says as he hands you your present.Ā
ā—¾ļø Not into PDA. At all. Youā€™re not going to get any kissing or embracing from him so long as others are looking.Ā
ā—¾ļø He asserts dominance and shows possession of you in other ways when in public.Ā
ā—¾ļø Although he doesnā€™t want you hurt, he isnā€™t afraid of getting you involved in his business. Even if that means using you to achieve a goal - he never lies to you though.Ā
ā—¾ļø Often brings you to meetings not only because youā€™re good arm candy but because a beautiful girl being there is usually good at convincing other men to do what he says. Relaxes the atmosphere.Ā
ā—¾ļø Also likes to show you off. Some villains are stupid enough to eye you the wrong way or hit on you though, and the dangerous aura that Overhaul gives off when this happens is scary.
ā—¾ļø You might not ever find a more passionate, observant lover than him. When the two of you are alone and he isnā€™t stressed about something, you get to see just how emotional he is about you.Ā
ā—¾ļø Always worries about your health or well-being. He just isnā€™t good at asking the questions ā€˜how are you?ā€™ orĀ ā€˜are you okay?ā€™
Chrono:Ā
ā—¾ļø Heā€™s the best when it comes to listening and having a conversation. Always pays attention to what you have to say, whether itā€™s a passing comment or a long-winded rant.
ā—¾ļø Isnā€™t afraid of telling you the truth about how he feels. If he thinks youā€™re being too brash, heā€™ll tell you. If he thinks that you need to stop and relax, heā€™ll tell you.Ā
ā—¾ļø Relaxed. Lenient. Flexible. Easy going. So long as he doesnā€™t have some important business planned, heā€™s going to take you anywhere that you ask.Ā
ā—¾ļø He has no problem dressing up if you want to go out somewhere fancy, and he also has no problem visiting a raunchy club. He carries himself admirably in all scenarios.
ā—¾ļø Likes to treat you like youā€™re a princess. Because of this, he doesnā€™t like getting you involved in his work. Heā€™s not afraid of you knowing what he does, but he isnā€™t willing to let you be endangered.Ā
ā—¾ļø Staunchly protective of you. The other members of the precepts know about you, and some might make a stupid comment about yourĀ ā€˜nice assā€™. Chrono isnā€™t okay with that. Heā€™ll either instigate a fight or make a very clever, biting remark.Ā
ā—¾ļø Sometimes heā€™s private about himself with you. He doesnā€™t talk much about his personal life, especially not at first. This might make it seem like he doesnā€™t trust you.
ā—¾ļø A bit of a show-off with money. Heā€™s going to buy you a lot of things.Ā  He has multiple reasons for this, but eventually you might end up feeling like heā€™s giving you presents in order to make up for his lack of affection.Ā
ā—¾ļø Have a talk with him about this. Hopefully it will be good for your relationship.
Setsuno:Ā
ā—¾ļø Heā€™s so fragile. It may not seem like it, but he is.
ā—¾ļø Unstable mentally, his insecurities get the better of him. He worries a lot for a while when you stay out late. Maybe youā€™ve left him, maybe youā€™re cheating on him.
ā—¾ļø He doesnā€™t get violent when he worries like this, doesnā€™t threaten you, but he does get emotional. Do your best to reassure him how much you love him, because he loves you too. A lot. He never thought heā€™d open his heart up to another girl again before he met you.
ā—¾ļø These faults aside, he is extremely caring. Although he typically has a dark sense of humor and nihilistic outlook on life, you have started to make him a better person. His life is better now that youā€™re in it.Ā
ā—¾ļø Treats you the same way he feels about you - with love.Ā
ā—¾ļø Wants to keep you a secret from the others as long as possible. When that is no longer an option, he just tells you to stay away. Not because he doesnā€™t trust you around other men, but because he doesnā€™t trust them around you.Ā
ā—¾ļø Heā€™s okay with going out, though preferably only at night, but prefers date nights inside. Watching a movie or cooking something together or just watching the city from a balcony.Ā
ā—¾ļø Heā€™ll open himself up to you the more close you are. Everything about his life and the issues heā€™s had during it, youā€™ll know.Ā
Rappa:Ā
ā—¾ļø He was probably the one to make the first move, since heā€™s pretty intimidating. However when it came to you, he was so love-struck it made him seem less like a rottweiler and more like a corgi.Ā
ā—¾ļø Really, heā€™s so absolutely devoted to you and crazy for you. To a point that is dangerous. Not toward you of course, since heā€™d never hurt you, but for everyone else.Ā
ā—¾ļø Acts brashly. Doesnā€™t think before he does. If he feels like youā€™re being disrespected or made uncomfortable, heā€™s going to want a fight. Knowing that his fights end with only one survivor (Which is always him) itā€™s up to you to stop it. You are the only one who can if Overhaul or some pro isnā€™t around.Ā
ā—¾ļø Carries you around on his shoulder or on one arm. Heā€™s not afraid of you getting involved with his business since, in his eyes, nothing will hurt you so long as heā€™s alive.Ā
ā—¾ļø Has a variety of nicknames for you. Babe, baby, girl, woman, girlie, my lady, my chick, my girl, and so on.Ā
ā—¾ļø When youā€™re in public, you might scold him a few times for being too touchy with you. If you do, he learns quickly and is okay with simple hand-holding.
ā—¾ļø Surprisingly sweet though. Even if heā€™s the complete opposite in reality, you see a different side of him. If he come home with blood on his knuckles and shirt, you donā€™t ask questions because you already know what happened.Ā
ā—¾ļø Not a super good listener though and heā€™s not good at giving gifts. He doesnā€™t have many material possessions in general, so he doesnā€™t quite understand any of it. Heā€™ll buy you flowers sometimes because heā€™s heard thatā€™s what boyfriends are supposed to do.Ā
ā—¾ļø Does not react well to being tied down. Not necessarily in a marriage sense, but thinking that being with you means he canā€™t live his life the way he wants. Itā€™s a bit selfish, but he had been tied down by his parents when he was younger. He wants to fight, wants to be a man free to do what he wants. If you try and get him to change that, it will be a long battle.
Nemoto:Ā
ā—¾ļø It was extremely hard to get him to open up to you. In fact he hid his quirk from you for a long time because he feared it would make you start to shy away.
ā—¾ļø But the fact that he was attracted to you was undeniable. No matter how hard he didnā€™t want to be, didnā€™t want to end up being left by you, he couldnā€™t get rid of the feelings.Ā
ā—¾ļø But you do find out about his quirk eventually, and when you donā€™tĀ stop talking to him, he is so staggered. The fact that youā€™re not only interacting with him, but you seem to enjoyĀ doing itā€¦Ā
ā—¾ļø Extremely devoted to you and passionate about you. To a point that itā€™s a bit overwhelming. Nemoto would probably jump of a bridge of you politely asked him to. You are on the same level as Overhaul, if not higher.
ā—¾ļø Will never use his quirk on you unless it is in a situation that you lying to him is hurting you somehow. When he does this, itā€™s more of an instinctual reaction, and the moment he makes you tell the truth heā€™s appalled with himself. Scared that youā€™ll leave him.Ā
ā—¾ļø Heā€™s kind of cocky when it comes to you. Will want you around the other Yakuza (So long as heā€™s with you) just so he can be proud of you in front of others.Ā
ā—¾ļø Will never actually get you involved in his work though. The moment he thinks something bad is going down, heā€™s sending you away. No matter how well you can handle yourself, it isnā€™t something thatā€™s up for discussion.Ā
ā—¾ļø Takes you on surprisingly normal, cute dates. Heā€™ll hold your hand and graze your skin with his fingertips, brush your hair behind your ear, joke around with you, and so on. He makes a lot of little gestures of affection.

- So I stole the ring and escaped to your world. It was supposed to trigger a coup, unfortunately... well. You saw what happened.Ā
( DO NOT REBLOG W/O MY EXPLICIT PERMISSION. )
Oh, jack jack jack jack heart. Itā€™s surprising how many ppl saw him as a heartthrob. Then again many ppl have interesting tastes so who am i to judge?Ā
It seemed fitting to do Jack as my first Character Analysis post since I actually write him too, and he has a fairly large portion in Mallyā€™s history.
Ā The Prince of Hearts, son of the Queen and King of Hearts, and a traitor to his mother-- though, thatā€™s not necessarily a bad thing. The Queen of Hearts is a major dictator in Syfy Lore (Despite the other half of what i pull my canon from, aka A/merican M/cgee Alice, she is only slightly dictatory, and more... she believed the Red Queen and Alice were responsible for Wonderlandā€™s destruction and held them accountable for it without thinking it over as deeply as she could have) and, well, most lore in fact. While in the books she was (as far as weā€™re aware)Ā  the rightful leader, in this Wonderland she is not. In fact, she flat out murdered the White Queendom (with the Red King being part of it, and his obvious marriage to a white queen since they were in the destroyed white queendom, itā€™s pretty clear she likely annihilated the House of Red too.) and stole her crown and Wonderland as a whole.
Obviously, I worked this out a lot more, pulled in the Arcana from T/arot and related the Houses of Cards to individual.. Cartomancy, basically. The House of Hearts was technically in the Low Arcana, and by destroying the High Arcana, she gained power. This does in fact relate to Jack, too.
Somewhere, in his tiny shriveled up little spoiled heart, Jack sees what his mother did was wrong. He sees that Wonderland is dying, that his mother is at the heart of the destruction. So, Jack Heart joined forces with The Resistance (In my canon, Caterpillar thoroughly replaces The Gryphon with Jack.) He becomes the lead double agent in The Resistance, and his mother doesnā€™t suspect a thing... at first.Ā
Jackā€™s already shown to be snarky, sassy, he doesnā€™t take order well, and doesnā€™t quite enjoy listening to his mother. When Mary (the Queen) started talking to Duchess later on, inferring sheā€™ll have Duchess killed and replaced with someone else who could control her son, that hints that heā€™s had a number of prior engagements that his mother had likely beheaded, after being the one to appoint most of them anyways! (Itā€™s thoroughly hinted that The King of Hearts is who appointed Duchess as his current Fiancee.)Ā
Though, the fact Mary had more than one engaged to him, with the intention of controlling and gaining information off of her son, part of her had to be aware of his betrayal. Sheā€™s a frickan genius, not the short-tempered, non-thinking Queen many iterationsĀ would have us think (The only time she makes awful decisions is when she takes a taste of childlike innocence, which seems to greatly hinge her.) Sheā€™s constantly aware of whatā€™s going on around her, sheā€™s aware of what others are thinking. As quick tempered as she is, and likely to have someones head cut off and forget she sentenced them to death a day later, she still manages to be constantly aware. Thus, thereā€™s no real way Jack was able to hide everything from her.Ā
Now, Jack plays off as the type of loyal man whoā€™ll do anything to get the job done for Caterpillar. All the way down to going to the oyster world to find Alice, and try to have her free her fatherā€™s mind so he would help them stop kidnapping oysters and let them go. He flirted, he got with her, he manipulated her until she fell for him and arguably, he accidentally fell for her. Al while he was engaged to The Duchess. And while one might argue that since he did not wish to be engaged to The Duchess, so his cheating was okay.... Iā€™m not gonna try to explain the otherwise here. Especially since Duchess very clearly does love him, and willingly defies his mother for him.Ā
This is where my analysis really shows through his character for me, heā€™s a manipulative little shit. Sometimes, itā€™s helpful, like him manipulating his own mother into letting Alice go back home rather than kill her in front of her father. Manipulate Duchess into helping him when he needs her to, he has a way with words to get people to want to take his side (Something Hatter picks up on immediately, and clearly tries to explain to a very unlistening alice.) And I do believe thatā€™s a core part of his character. If he really wanted Wonderland to live a life in true bliss again, why did he decide to keep the throne once his mother was defeated? The entire plan relied on his mother being defeated and the crown falling to him. But the reality is, the crown never belonged to his family to begin with.
Now, if anyone from the White Queenā€™s dynasty survived, I honestly doubt heā€™d give them the crown even after they proved themselves. He wants that crown, he wants to be in charge, despite any claims he makes to the otherwise. He even tried, after reconcilingĀ with Duchess, to convince Alice to stay in wonderland as his queen.Ā Power has always been a major aspect of his character. While he might want to rule Wonderland into aĀ ā€˜new state of freedomā€™, he still wants control of it. He still wants to be looked upon as the wonderful Jack Heart, savor of wonderland, rightful king. He might think he has Wonderlandā€™s best interest at heart (if he does), but he also wants to keep control to himself. Likely often using excuses ofĀ ā€˜others could do what my mother didā€™ but that really doesnā€™t excuse him.Ā
Heā€™s lied to a multitude of people, heā€™s manipulated his way into others hearts, and his main focus has always been dethroning his mother to get the crown. Honestly? Caterpillar probably saw that and took the opportunity to get him on their side. After all, Jack knew his mother would never willingly give him her power, why else would she try to marry him off to others to control him?Ā
HERE, we specifically go into my Jack, and how it relates to Mally. I would not go with this plot with any other Jack writers unless they approved of it first hand-- same with the rest of my analysis and storyline, which applies to all characters and is even listed in my rules, but yknow.
Basically, when Mally was working as one of the Queenā€™s spies/assassins, she was going to be one of his engagements. Her notactuallyherfatherbutpretendingtobeher-father, whoā€™s the Queenā€™s Lord Steward, convinced Mary that Mally would be a good method to control Jack. That... really didnā€™t work out, as Mally has a massive inability to handle being controlled, and she really canā€™ stand Jack. (She was mostly indifferent to him before, but after being told she had to marry him, yeah she instantly believed it was his idea and hated him for it). Thing is... Jack canā€™t actually touch her, as most people canā€™t, yknow, cause she doesnā€™t have any heat in her body almost at all.Ā
Thatā€™s actually where the majority of her brother trying to figure out a method (ā€™The injectionā€™ as I call it) that can allow others to touch her without getting hurt. Something that he did manage to make a few successful prototypes of, though not without secretly taking off with blood samples from Mad March. Upon realization that Mad March wasnā€™t affected by her extreme temperature gauges, he figured it must be something genetic, and decided that would be the best method to research it. Jack Heart did get one later, as one of his plans did include Mallymkun. The one upside to having to marry her would be heā€™d have more of a method of controlling her in that state (though, in Wonderland, women do have more control then men. ) When Mally eventually comes across Jack again, and learns he wonā€™t die by her touch... sheā€™s really not happy about that. Iā€™ll get more into thoseĀ ā€˜plansā€™ later but this is already too long and I probably should stop here.Ā

Cardfight Anime Fights: Before and Now. [Vanguard Rant]
I guess this would be my first rant about something. Kinda weird that Iā€™m even typing this now but itā€™s something thatā€™s been on my mind for the last few days, partly because Iā€™ve been re-watching old vanguard episodes from pre-G to G series, trying to understand the gameā€™s evolution and nostalgia. Iā€™m going to split this rant into two categories: Pre-G and G-SeriesĀ for obvious reasons. Iā€™m willing to include a potential top 3-5 favorite fights but this isnā€™t a top tens list. So here I go!
Pre-Generation Fights
So Pre-Generation will consist of Seasons 1-4. Yes Iā€™m even including the Legion arc despite how negatively received it was by fans for subpar narrative story and the fights, even the format in real time just being undeveloped. When I think back to Pre-G Fights, I remember looking and watching all of the fights with a bit of involvement as a viewer. Each play is thoroughly shown and you can even hypothesize and theorize scenarios if any of the players did something differently, especially if they made errors in guarding or misplay (unless it was for narrative purpose like Tetsu not calling Amon R to rear and just defeating Ren). I feel as though this era of fights up until season 3 showed a level of skill and showed characters individually by their own play and deck styles. Kai overpowers and beats down his opponents during grade 3 ride while Ren minimizes their resources by killing off rears at the last second, so on and so forth. I enjoy watching these fights the most because it pulls me into the fight. Earlier in the day, I watched Ren vs Aichi at the Vanguard Highschool Championship Qualifier, and noticed that Aichi couldā€™ve won on the same turn in two different ways:Ā  >>One was protecting 9k Rear Guard with 2 10k Shields in hand, following his break ride and callling his 7k grade 1 booster behind something and done the same play: 16k Rear, 33k Vanguard, 19k rear (from break ride and critical trigger power), and Blaster Blade being 16k.Ā  >>Alternatively, he couldā€™ve called his trigger behind a rear guard and had another 24k rear guard which wouldā€™ve required 15k shield which Ren did not have.Ā  Now Iā€™m not mad at Aichi at all, but the animators did a good job animating the fight well enough for fighters to see potential missed plays or errors if they paid attention to fight beyond a narrative perspective. There are many more examples like this even in scenarios where it would appear someone cheated but if you follow the game and guarding, it still wouldā€™ve equated to the same result (aka when Leon made Tidal attack rear for fourth battle when Tetra-drive requires the 4th to be at the vanguard, Leon couldā€™ve just boosted the 3rd attack and Koutei couldā€™ve just intercepted, same value.) But my point in bringing it up is that these fights had a lot more to offer and take from if viewed from a fighters perspective. The little details put into the fight, showing how a fighter played, how they built their deck, what tactics they used, and most importantly how the fight ended. How a fight ends is equally important because outside of knowing from foreshadowing narration, I like not knowing who will win or seeing someone who is skilled at the game beat down their opponent in a fitting gap of ability (these matches you can look back when Kai just destroys anyone he fights in any of the tournaments). Normally we have the cliche moment of theĀ ā€œSituation Card has appeared!ā€ or theĀ ā€œTop deck winā€, however it was done in a way that didnā€™t just seem like the opponent was completely obliterated and had no chance to stop it. How the player took advantage of theirĀ ā€œSituational Cardā€ made the difference from it being aĀ ā€œlucky sackā€ to aĀ ā€œlucky pro playā€. Iā€™ll explain more on this in the G-series segment but a good example of this would be when Leon fought Asaka in episode 116. He was in a tough spot but made the most of his situation and won. A beautiful example of a good anime Vanguard fight.Ā So, before I talk about the G-Series Fights, Iā€™ll go ahead and list my top 5 fights in no particular order.
5. Leon vs Daigo 4. Kai vs Kyou (Season 1) 3. Leon vs Koutei (Most of Reverse Kouteiā€™s fights to be honest) 2. Aichi vs Ren (Season 3 & 2 are tied) 1. Kai vs Ren (Season 3)
G-Series Fights
Cardfight Vanguard G anime fights are... a complete mess. I try to watch the fights from a fighters perspective but there are only a few fights where I am able to actively engage myself as a fighter rather than for story. Iā€™ll say this hands down, G-Series has no good anime fights whatsoever with Chrono. Compared to Aichi where he loses but then in other fights youā€™re likeĀ ā€œI donā€™t know if heā€™ll winā€, that suspense doesnā€™t exist with Chrono. He wins every fight except gag fights or when they need to show off a new antagonist, which, I understand this is the trend for the protagonist to win as much as they can, which is why I didnā€™t watch Aichi a lot until about Season 2 where heā€™d lose a lot of the tournament matches and then improved and started taking wins (and even then heā€™d still lose from time to time: aka Kai and Ren in Season 3). Chrono takes it to a whole new level, mind you, Chrono is a beginner. Season 1 of G was okay because Chrono started off strong (despite being a beginner) and I gave him the benefit of the doubt of having a fighters sense to strive and improve, which was shown more ferociously than Aichi. However, it was shattered in G GIRS Crisis (season 2, pretty much) where his reign of terror beats even the best of Vanguard from Pre-G. I know the plot was that they needed to win every G-Quest to have Generation Master Titles. Which was dumb. (Well just now looking at the wiki, they needed 50 or more points for Generation Master however 6 Branches, 10 points each. Do math.) Ok, so they won every match, at least the fights were good right? Wrong. The fights themselves are short and rushed and only seem to matter after each players first stride. Sure each game starts the same of riding your grades 1/2/3, however, thatā€™s 5 turns before the first stride appears, you mean that everyone is playing the same and not rushing their opponent down to 3-4 damage? Back in Pre-G, people would be beaten down to 4 or sometimes 5 before their grade 3 ride. Okay so early game is inaccurate or well non-existent, but surely the turns post-Stride/Generation Break are worth it? Youā€™d be wrong again. The game usually ends by the protagonists 2nd/3rd stride, otherwise their opponents third stride will end the game for them. Plus there seems to be a lack of detail for effects unless a unit contributes to the winning turn or to make an emphasis on the opponents ability to defend (or lack of ability to defend: aka showing perfect guards in drive check before the next stride has a guard restrict ability). Plus the fights donā€™t really show much detail on the fighters own play style, you see their builds and their strides, but nothing on if theyā€™re aggressive or defensive outside of the units they play. The biggest example I can think of is when Chrono fought Leon. For all intents and purposes, Chrono honestly shouldā€™ve lost that fight, 0 cards in hand, 1 G3 rear. He topped deck the ability to stride and drove check a critical in both attacks from Nextage and Chronojet. I... donā€™t see how this is possible granted Leon shouldā€™ve had more cards in hand due to abilities of previously activated units. Donā€™t get me wrong, I know Pre-G has a few fights that are par with how bad this one was (certain top deck Grade 3 w/ no field, 5 open damage for cb5 +10 followed by double critical triggers comes to mind), but this is how most if not all of Chronoā€™s fights end against high level players. Take a look at any of his fights with Ibuki from the end of CF-G and on (minus when he didnā€™t have Chronojet). To make matters worse, I believe I brought up the topic ofĀ ā€œsituational cardsā€, well, there really isnā€™t any. Most characters just stride into their secondary/Generation Break 2 strides to end the game as if nothing happened. Thereā€™s not much though-processing when watching the characters stride because they just activate their effects as they continue, as though theyā€™re on autopilot mode. Note: Iā€™m not calling the strides or decks autopilot, Iā€™m calling their fighters autopilot, Chrono the biggest one. Itā€™s basically telling the other opponent, ā€œHey that was cool what you did and all, I might lose, but Iā€™m not so time to win.ā€ Before I wrap this up, I suppose I should mention my favorite fights and Iā€™m gonna be honest, I donā€™t like much of them, theyā€™ve gotten better in terms of Vanguard G-Next which I do give them credit for but it doesnā€™t have the same feel of watching it just for the cardfight, itā€™s just really to show off new units or for the narrative/plot. So... which fights or rather fighters do I like watching? Well in the intended order... 5. Shion Kiba 4. Mamoru Anjou 3. Kouji Ibuki 2. Tokoha Anjou 1. Jaime Alcaraz
Conclusion
For those who didnā€™t watch Yu-Gi-Oh! GX in the english dubbed, a quote from Zane Truesdale always sticks in my head in any card game.Ā ā€œKnowing how to use a card is different from playing a card.ā€ It speaks a lot to me and shows who really knows what theyā€™re doing and who is just being autonomous when it comes to playing the game. Watching Pre-G fights gives me an understanding that the characters knew how to use their cards properly and make the most of them in order to improve, rather than just playing it and hope it does a lot of damage. I believe that is the difference that makes the fights in the anime more interesting and more engaging in both a fighters perspective and narratives perspective as opposed to just jobbing everyone and only focus on what the fights mean for the plot. Like I said before, G-Series has stepped up in G-NEXT with their fights but itā€™s still not very detailed and very autonomous, even more so when characters donā€™t use the abilities of their units (certain Gold Paladin players come to mind when they donā€™t use their Generation Break 2 to guard.) Ā So that is my first ever rant about Vanguard. Again, this has been on my mind since Iā€™ve been talking to a few friends about the gameā€™s evolution and ended up talking about the anime, nostalgia was calling and sat down to watch some old episodes.
