I’ll have what she’s having 🫦
Day 9–Cockwarming
Aaron Hotchner x reader
Warnings: Cockwarming, unprotected sex, mentions of the BAU and cases
Word Count: 1.5 k
Your relationship with Aaron could be classified as many things. First and foremost, you were his partner in the field, always having his back no matter what sort of situation you found yourselves in. More importantly though, you were his girlfriend, the person he looked to when things got too much to bare, or if he needed a shoulder to lean on. Your strong, stoic man had a hard time letting people in, but it had came naturally for him with you. He quickly found himself attached at your hip, always asking for your insight, making sure your voice was heard amongst the team, since you were the newest and youngest member of the team. He always made sure you didn't feel left out, that if you had something to say, everyone else was listening too, because you'd been right more than once and when you first joined the team, they had a hard time trusting your judgement simply because they didn't know you. Aaron put his foot down and told everyone you were just as much a part of the team as them and that your theories were good, great in fact, you'd just been overlooked by them.
It had been Aaron to make the first move. He came to your room after a case you solved when everyone else was stumped, making you feel much better about your place on the team and how they perceived you. You still weren't certain until Aaron showed up, his hands at his sides as he waited for you to answer the door. He'd told you that you did an excellent job on the case and asked if he could come in, and given your not so tiny crush on him, you were happy to spend your evening tucked away with your boss in a dimly lit hotel room, sitting at the small table that occupied the corner space. For hours, the two of you sat up talking; he told you about Haley, volunteering the information because you'd never ask him. He talked about the Boston Reaper and what the case had stolen from him, opening up to you for the first time as you sat back and listened.
Things changed between the two of you after that. He started pairing you up with him, taking you everywhere. The nightly visits became a regular occurrence; he'd come sit with you after a case, staying until you were both too tired to see. It wasn't until about a month in that you suggested he just share your bed, it was plenty big enough and you didn't mind the company. It took him less than a second to agree, climbing under the covers with you and turning the light out. He didn't even try to keep distance between your bodies; his sought yours out, his arm wrapping around you while you rested your head on his shoulder, using him for a pillow.
Waking up together felt more normal than you wanted to admit. His alarm went off around 6, because you were supposed to be at the airstrip by 7:30. For a while you just laid there, talking quietly, the birds still silent outside, nothing but your hushed voices could be heard. It was then that he decided to kiss you, the entire world going still as his lips met yours. In that moment, nothing else mattered except kissing him back, letting him know you wanted him just as much. You'd been inseparable since.
On nights like tonight, when you were both still working late, you often found yourself on the couch in his office, working on reports before the two of you went home for the night. He'd sit beside you and you'd work mostly in silence unless either of you had a question for one another, but it was peaceful, much better than working alone at your desk. The paperwork had seemed to pile up since the last time you did it, the stack of reports much bigger than normal. You could tell Aaron was ready to go, often glancing at the clock to check the time. You were excited to finally be finished too, to go home and curl up in bed with him after the long week you'd both had.
"Whatever we don't finish in the next hour can come home with us," he decided, sighing heavily as he sat his pen down for the first time in hours, prompting you to take a break with him. He stood up, crossing the room to lock the door before he came back to the couch, sitting back before he pulled you to sit in his lap, your back against his chest.
"Sounds good to me. My hand was starting to cramp up," Aaron was quick to grab your hand, lacing his fingers with yours as you leaned back, letting your head drop to his shoulder. His nose brushed your jaw before his lips collided with your skin, first your neck, his tongue leaving a trail of warmth wherever it went. His hands fell to your thighs, giving them a gentle squeeze before his hips rutted into you from below. You could feel him, stiff and needy through his slacks and the only thing on your mind was helping him take care of it.
"Pretty girl. Think you can stay still while I finish up?" He made you lean forward long enough to undo his belt and the button of his slacks, tugging his boxers past his knees. His next order of business was reaching under your skirt to pull down the pair of lace panties you'd put on that morning just to tease him; you barely had time to blink before they were on the floor. He pumped his length a few times before bringing you back to his lap, letting his cock rest inside of you, a breathy groan falling from his lips as you sank down on him.
"Lean back, gonna use your lap to work," he explained, so you situated yourself to where he could still see, his cock pulsing inside of you at the slightest movement. He grabbed his pen and began to write, a little shakier than before, but still perfectly legible.
"You feel so good, Aaron," you tried your best to stay still but couldn't control the wiggling of your hips. He chuckled lowly before putting a hand on your hip to keep you still.
"If you can wait until I finish, I'll bend you over my desk," he told you, his knuckles white as he gripped his pen, working hard to finish quickly. As composed as he was trying to act, he was struggling with you on top of him.
"You better hurry then," you breathed, going still so he could write uninterrupted, his pen flying across the paper quicker than your eyes could keep up. He'd occasionally roll his hips into you, your sweet moans enough to have his pen hovering over the paper, and him unable to do anything other than thrust into you from below. He'd give in momentarily, but eventually he'd start writing again, only stunned for a moment.
"You're being so good, sweetheart. I'm almost done," his voice was unsteady as he worked with all of his might to finish, finally capping the pen and giving you his full attention. Your hips began to move expeditiously, his cock gliding into you with precision, perfectly against your g-spot, your pussy involuntarily clenching around him; he hissed; leaving handprints on your ass from grabbing you from behind. You leaned forward slightly so you could put your hands on his knees, working his dick at the best angle, your skirt up past your waist as you slid up and down on him.
"Fuck baby, just like that. You look so fucking good," he growled through clenched teeth, helping you move your hips, his hands on your waist.
"So close," you murmured, going even faster, the slamming of your hips echoing throughout his small office, but you were the only ones around to hear. He grabbed your hair, tugging gently, his breathing growing ragged as he got closer to his climax.
"Wait for me," he commanded, taking over for you and drilling deep inside of you, causing you to yelp. You could barely keep your eyes open, your bottom lip pulled between your teeth. Aaron was quite literally throbbing inside of you, each time you took him deeper you could feel him; he was dangerously close, giving you every ounce of energy he could muster as the both of you came together, your name rolling off his tongue as he pulled you onto his length, finishing deep inside of you. For a minute you stayed just like that, with his cock still sputtering inside of you, his hands still on your waist.
"You ready to go home?" He asked finally, but you were wide awake now, excited to get to the bed so your night could really get started.

do you think you could write where reader is a part of the BAU and gets kidnapped/ hurt by an unsub and spencer saves her? much love and i love your fics!
Hi! Thanks so much for your request. I'll admit this took a bit more brain power than usual 💀 may have gotten slightly carried away creating an unsub lmao
Summary: You go undercover for a case and Reid keeps you company through online messages, only to feel absolutely worthless when you go missing.
Warnings: Typical case descriptions, kidnapping and abuse of Y/N, Reid self-deprecating again but it has a happy fluffy ending so a win.
My Requests are Open! Send me an ask if you want me to write something~ 💕 And check out My Masterlist!
“Y/N, what do you think? I’m not going to send you in if you’re not confident you can complete the mission.'' Your Unit Chief, Aaron Hotchner, was briefing you on the plan. Luckily for the team, or rather, unluckily for you, you fit the victim profile of your latest case, and with an absence of leads, your last chance to get him before he took another victim was an undercover mission.
“I can do it, but can we establish a background in enough time? He’s devolving and he’s going to need to pick up another victim pretty soon.”
You’d been called in to consult on the case two weeks prior. Local women who lived alone in the metropolitan area had been going missing on a weekly basis for the last three months, and the BAU team had been called in when they’d finally found the dump site of the first three victims.
You’d so far managed to figure out how he was finding his victims from their home computers - a site for young women to look for sugar daddies. You’d previously profiled him as a man in his mid-40s who was going through a personal loss and was lashing out at women who represented someone specific to him, and after searching through the dating profiles, you were pretty sure his stressor was a recent or impending divorce.
But try as Garcia might, these dating websites had a whole lot more encoded data than was expected, and after the Ashley Madison scandal of the previous decade, they’d taken to deleting the majority of their user data regularly so that certain accounts couldn’t be found. Which meant that you were left with a geographical profile you couldn’t pin down, a profile that could match half the men in the city, and a killer that was almost ready to strike again.
“Garcia can get something ready for you in the next 8 hours, and we have some access to some FBI safehouses in the area that we can ready in at the same time. Go get yourself prepared for cover.”
And that’s how you found yourself living in a dingy studio apartment on the south side of the city for two days, waiting to report back about whatever men approached you. There wasn’t much for you to complain about, but you were getting pretty lonely.
You’d greeted your new neighbors and made a show of attending some ‘new to the neighborhood’ events, making sure to get out and about to let the team assess if the unsub was stalking you. Other than that you’d spent the rest of your time in your apartment a constant tab open at the sugar baby website. A few men had been interested, and your computer was cloned and running simultaneously on Garcia’s system so the team could do their best to track suspicious accounts.
The rest of your spare time was, surprisingly enough, spent messaging Spencer Reid. You’d been on the team now for three months, joining the team as a transfer from the blue collar division you’d worked in straight out of the academy. You had spent the same amount of time doing your best to gain confidence to work in the field. Sure, you’d trained for this, but theory and practice were so different and you really didn’t want to fuck up so early into your job.
Which is why, you supposed, that Doctor Spencer Reid was so intimidating to you. Though he admittedly wasn’t the best at field work, noting the amount of exceptions the FBI had to make to allow him outside of the office at all on your first meeting, he was just so damned competent. With three PhD’s, three BA’s and a pending fourth on the way, he was the golden child of the BAU, and you found yourself desperate for his approval. It surely didn’t help that he was also your exact type to boot, and sometimes you found yourself conflicted if you wanted his approval because he was so good at his job or because he was go goddamn good-looking.
With no way to know how the unsub was tracking his victims before he kidnapped them, your team theorized it was unsafe to have physical check-ins, opting instead to set up another account on the sugar baby website, that would be manned around the clock. And tech-averse Reid had volunteered to do the bulk of the manning, leaving you with all the time in the world to talk to him in your private chat room.
sug4rbbY/N: Good evening, Doctor, got any interesting facts for me today? ;)
D0ct0rD0ct0r: Did you know that it is illegal to flirt in Haddon Township, New Jersey? Under the section “Peace and Good Order,” a person may be punished for approaching “any person of the opposite sex unknown to such person and by word, sign or gesture attempts to speak to or to become acquainted with such person against his will.”
sug4rbbY/N: Well, aren’t I glad that we do not live in New Jersey then.
D0ct0rD0ct0r: There’s more where that came from if you’re ever interested.
sug4rbbY/N: I’ll certainly keep that in mind.
sug4rbbY/N: Any plans for the evening, doc?
D0ct0rD0ct0r: Just sitting here talking to you :)
sug4rbbY/N: All by yourself? ;)
D0ct0rD0ct0r: Never feel like I’m alone when you’re online.
sug4rbbY/N: Haha that’s sweet.
sug4rbbY/N: BRB, Doc, my doorbell’s ringing.
You stood up from your desk, a glance at the mirror betraying your feelings, as your flush was prominent. You weren’t sure if it was the intimate nature of the messaging system, or just for the sake of your cover, but the flirty tone of your messages had certainly been leaving you wondering if there could be more to your relationship with your coworker in the future.
You quickly walked over to the door, opening it wide and came face to face with a bouquet of flowers.
“Miss Y/N Harper?” the man behind the bouquet used your cover name to address you, and you hesitated a little before nodding in the affirmative. “Can you sign here please? It’s standard procedure for deliveries like this.”
“But I didn’t order any flowers…” you took the bouquet from the man and grabbed the pen in his hand ready to sign.
“Oh yeah, our shop specialises in anonymous flowergrams. That bunch you’ve got in your hand has some aconite, some white lilies and jasmine flowers.” The delivery man explained, and something in your gut twisted as you listened to his words.
“But aren’t lilies usually meant for funera-” you didn’t get to finish because he had pushed a wet rag to your face, and you had just enough time to shake some small petals off and push them far enough underneath a nearby shoe storage unit before you faded into unconsciousness, your last thought a prayer that your team would uncover your clue.
–x–
Needless to say, when you didn’t check back in a few minutes later, Spencer had alerted every cop in the vicinity of your new apartment that you were gone, and they discovered your apartment empty within ten minutes.
“She was right there,” Spencer ran a hand through his hair in frustration. “She was talking to me and then she just got up and he took her.”
“Reid, calm down, she can’t have been gone long, and we have security cameras all over the building. We’ll find her.” Morgan reassured the younger male while searching the entrance of your cover apartment for clues.
“That’s easy for you to say, it isn’t your fault that she’d gone.”
“And it isn’t yours either, Reid. You did your job, but he wasn’t going to stop until he had her.”
“I should’ve notified the standby officers as soon as she sent through that last message and what was I doing instead? Trying to figure out if she was flirting with me for real or not. I’m pathetic.”
“Reid, get your head back in the game. She’s gone and theres nothing you can do to change that now, but we need your head here or we’re not going to find her. Y/N’s an agent too, remember, she can hold her own. Now look and think.”
“SSA Morgan, Doctor Reid, we may have something over here,” one of the local detectives called the two men over. They’d found the remnants of the petals you’d done your best to scatter, and even though the unsub had taken the bouquet with him, he hadn’t been as thorough as he should have been.
“We didn’t set her up with any flowers when she started her cover, so these must have been bought in by the unsub. I’ll call Garcia, tell her to look for any flower shops within his comfort zone.” Morgan hit the number on his speedial, but before he could start, Reid cut him off.
“Wait, I think we can narrow the search a bit further. Those are Aconite petals, they’re not often stocked by local florists because they have a pretty sinister meaning. They’re usually used to express hatred for the receiver, and because of their poisonous properties most florists don't stock them for fear of doing harm and causing lawsuits. He must be specifically ordering them in to give to his victims. Garcia, can you crossreference the list of florists in the area and check to see how many of them have purchased this plant recently?”
“Just the one. Sending you the address now. Go find our girl Doc.”
–X–
When you came to, in what you assumed to be a backroom of some kind of flower shop, you were bound at the ankles and wrists and there was a gag in your mouth. You struggled a bit against your bindings but it was no good, and you had to reassure yourself that you were going to be okay, doing your best to push down the tears and clear your head.
You decided your best bet was to get to know your surroundings, check to see what was around you and what you could use to your advantage. There was a clock on the wall, and you realised that you’d only been gone half an hour. Reminding yourself that the unsub kept his victims for a minimum of two days did a lot to get your heartbeat back to a normal pace, but it spiked again as soon as you heard the door slam open and your captor walk in.
“Stupid little bitch,” he slurred his words slightly and you could smell the alcohol on his breath as he moved closer to your space in the corner. You tried your best to scamper as far away from him as possible, but he grabbed you by the hair and pulled you up to his face.
You winced at the pain and tried to squirm out of his hold. “Look at you all pathetic now, begging me to let you out. It’s not going to fucking happen, y'know. I’m going to be the last person you see, last person you hear,” he throws you against the wall, pinning you up with his hand on your arms as he sends a leering glance down your shirt and then gives you a disgusting grin. “Last person you touch.”
Your bindings mean your movement is limited, but you still manage to bring both your legs up to knee him in the groin, effectively pushing him off you but landing hard on the ground yourself after you manage to do so.
“Fucking whore,” he shouts at you standing up and dealing a sharp kick to your head that has your vision going white for a minute. “I’ll teach you to fucking mess with me again, you little bitch.” He makes to grab you again, but before he can you hear the blissful sounds of a door being kicked down and the shouts of the FBI to stand down.
Two agents are on him in minutes and you finally allow yourself to let out a deep sob in relief, as a third, very recognisable agent, makes his way to your side.
“Y/N, shhh baby, it’s okay. You’re okay now, I’ve got you,” Reid whispers in your ear as he unties you as gently and carefully as he can. The moment your arms are free you leap into him, wrapping your arms around his neck and pushing your face deeply against his chest. He pulls away just enough to untie your legs, and then lets you burrow into him again.
“I knew you’d find me. Knew you’d understand something from those fucking flowers.” You sob into his chest now, as he strokes your hair, just holding you like that on the floor until you’re ready to move.
“I’m so sorry, Y/N. I should’ve sent someone to check sooner, and I should’ve never let you accept that stupid cover mission, this is my fault and I'm going to make it up to you. I'm never going to let anyone hurt you ever ag-” he begins rambling but you shut him up again, this time by firmly pressing your lips into his.
“Before you say anything else, this is not transference and I’m not doing this because you saved me, we both know I would’ve done that eventually anyway,” you rest your forehead against his, and after he has time to process what has just happened, he’s wiping the tears away from your face, and gently holding it with both of his hands, leaning in to do it again, gently pressing his mouth against yours as if he’s afraid you might bolt at any second.
“Thank you, again. For finding me,” you whisper to him, the space between you so miniscule now that you barely had to move your lips to know that he understood you.
“Thank you, for letting me find you.” He grinned at you and held you again, determined to never let you out of his arms ever again.

The Right Chapter 24 || Aaron Hotchner x Fem Reader
Happy Saturday my loves! A little fluff/angst double whammy for your afternoon :)
contains: grouchy aaron, food mention, description of anxiety, canon-typical description of murder
wordcount: 2.4k
“I seem to remember you being the one lecturing me about the bureau’s generous sick leave policy not all that long ago,” You told Aaron as you gently shoved him back into bed three days after he’d broken his leg.
“I also recall that in that situation, you were the one who was injured,” Aaron grumbles, and you roll your eyes.
“Yes, and you stayed home to take care of me. Now, I’m returning the favor,” you reminded him.
“I’m not going to get a brain bleed, I just need the leg to heal. You don’t need to stay with me all day while I sit in bed.” He argues.
“You’re right, but I think we both know that if I wasn’t here, you wouldn’t stay in bed, and seeing as how you can’t get as far as the bathroom without my help, that might present a problem.” You chastise him. “I’m not coming home to you bleeding out in the hallway because you fell over and couldn’t help yourself.”
“You make me sound like I’m eighty years old.” he scoffed.
“Well, if you agree to wear a life alert, maybe I’ll go back to work.” You said, throwing your head against the pillows. There’s a few moments of silence, punctuated by Aaron’s deep sigh.
“I’m glad you’re here. Sorry I’m being grumpy.” He apologized. “I just don’t want you to have to take care of me.”
“You’re injured and in pain. You’re allowed to be grumpy,” you told him. “And I plan on taking care of you for the rest of my life, so you should start to get used to it.”
“Can I hold you for a little while? You don’t have to go near my leg,” he says, knowing you’ve been extra-gentle to avoid his injury since you’ve been home together. “You could put your head on my chest and I could just… hold you,” Aaron asks shyly, and your heart melts.
“Of course, baby.” you say, snuggling your torso in close, leaning your head against his pec and resisting the urge to toss your legs over his. “See? Sick leave isn’t all that bad,” you tease him.
“No, I suppose not,” he smiles, rubbing an arm up and down your back.
“Jack is so excited to have you home.” You comment.
“Not that it matters, I can’t even take him to the park or ride a bike with him.” Aaron grouses.
“Aaron, he’s over the moon just to have time to spend with you. He could sit here in bed with you watching Toy Story on a loop for the next six weeks and I’m sure he’d tell you it was the best month and a half of his life.”
“A month and a half… I’m gonna go crazy.” Aarom remarks, more to himself than to you.
“You’re gonna have to take up a hobby. Maybe knitting,” you snort, and Aaron smiles.
“Yeah, or braiding or something,” he agrees offhandedly.
“Braiding?” You ask.
“Oh, I mean, or maybe I could get back into Chess, finally get good enough to beat Spencer--”
“No, no, back up, what made you bring up braiding?”
“Uh… it’s just… something I’ve been thinking about in case we ever, you know, made a decision, and felt like maybe---”
“Aaron, spit it out,” you laughed.
“Just… if we had kids, or a daughter, I would want to be able to do her hair. Because if you’re not home, I don’t want to be the dad that doesn’t know how to do his daughter’s hair.” He confesses, the embarrassment clear in his tone. You place a kiss to his chest.
“You are a good man, Aaron Hotchner.”
“I’m glad you think so, anyways.”
“Alright, you’re getting grumpy and self-deprecating, which is a bad combo. You need a nap.” You instruct him teasingly.
“You’ll be here when I wake up?” He asks, tightening his hold on you just slightly.
“Of course, love. You go ahead and rest. I’m not going anywhere.”
You went back to work a little over a week later, when Aaron was mostly off of his pain meds, and able to get himself around the apartment without any assistance. You were still staying there when you weren’t on a case, and found yourself grateful that you’d decided to sign a month-to-month lease-- you weren’t sure what the point was of keeping up the pretense of separate places anymore. But, then again, with Aaron injured, now probably wasn’t the best time for a move. You're working through a few scenarios in your head when Spencer interrupts your train of thought.
“How’s Hotch feeling?” He asks as you and the rest of the team board the jet to head home after a case.
“He’s doing better,” you tell him. “The pain isn’t bothering him as much and he’s getting a little bit of his range of motion back. I’m still trying my best to keep him in bed, but I’m sure you can imagine how well that’s going,” you tell him with a smile.
“Well, tell him I can’t wait to have him back. I hate all this paperwork,” Morgan cuts in with a playful chuckle, and you shove at his shoulder.
“I’m trying to keep him home, Derek. Besides, we all know that Spencer is doing most of the paperwork for you,” you called him out, and Emily and JJ laughed.
“He’s just so fast,” Morgan defends himself, and now everyone is laughing.
“We do want him back,” Emily tells you. “But not until he’s good and ready. And then, you know, maybe even a few weeks after that. Wouldn’t kill him to take a vacation.”
“I’m not so sure about that,” JJ smirks.
“Please, he’s already itching to get back to work. I think he’d leave me if I asked for a vacation.” You tell Emily.
“No, if you asked for a vacation he’d buy a plane ticket in an instant. And he’d bring his work phone and his computer to the beach and try to solve a murder from underneath a palm tree,” Morgan argued playfully.
“Sometimes when we take a case somewhere warm, I stand in the parking lot for five minutes and face the sun. And if you close your eyes, it’s almost like a vacation.” You say.
“Weren’t you literally taken hostage the last time you did that?” Spencer asks, and you roll your eyes goodnaturedly.
“Well, there goes my tropical getaway,” you tease.
With Morgan as acting unit chief, paperwork deadlines are considerably more flexible, which is to say nonexistent. Strauss would probably have a field day when she went to review the case file, but that wasn’t your problem. And, quite frankly, as you rushed to your car to get home to your boys, you couldn’t care less.
When you swing the door open, you interrupt a very spirited game of Connect Four between Jack and Aaron. You notice that Aaron has at least three opportunities to make a winning move, all of which he ignores in favor of allowing Jack to push his chips in at random.
“You’re home!” Jack exclaims when he sees you, scrambling across the living room and wordlessly commanding to be held by you.
You hoist him up onto your hip, not without difficulty. He was getting big, and it made you a little sad. It strikes you that you won’t be able to do this forever, wrap him up in your arms and make him feel small and safe and secure. You squeeze him tighter. “Were you good for your daddy while I was gone?”
“Uh-huh.” He nods, pulling back to look at you and running the collar of your shirt in between his thumb and forefinger absentmindedly.
“And was Daddy good? He stayed off of his booboo leg?” You asked the only Hotchner who would give you a truthful answer.
“Daddy was good.” Jack confirms, and you narrow your eyes skeptically.
“Did he bribe you to say that? Ice cream for breakfast, or a new comic book?” You ask.
“No. We watched Toy Story and I learned checkers. I had cereal for breakfast, not ice cream.” He tells you, and you relent.
“Sounds like you had a lot of fun, bug.” You say, putting him down and crossing the living room to sit next to Aaron on the couch, who leaned over to press a kiss to the top of your head and placed a hand in your lap.
“I did. But I missed you.” Jack tells you, climbing onto the couch next to you.
“He’s not the only one,” Aaron whispers, pressing another kiss to your hair.
“I missed you both, very very much,” you tell them, snuggling closer into Aaron and placing a hand in Jack’s hair.
“We had pasta for dinner. I saved you a plate,” Aaron tells you.
“Thank you, baby.” You tell him. “But, I’m pretty sure it’s past somebody’s bedtime…” You mention, and Jack pouts immediately.
“I told him he could stay up until you got home, but he promised he wasn’t going to fight when it was time for bed, right buddy?” Aaron reminds his son.
“Come on, sweet boy. I’ll tuck you in,” You tell him, pecking Aaron’s lips briefly before scooping Jack up off of the sofa and bringing him to his bed, tucking him in with extra stories and kisses to make up for the nights you missed while you were gone.
When you come back into the kitchen, Aaron has heated up the leftover pasta and is waiting for you at the counter.
“You didn’t have to get up, I would have done that,” you tell Aaron, knowing full well that he’d never actually listen.
“How was the case?” He asks as you settle in and start to eat.
“It wasn’t too bad. We got the guy to surrender without hurting any of the hostages. A few of them were in pretty rough shape, but they should all recover.” you tell him in between bites.
“And the team? Everyone’s doing okay?”
“We’re all good, babe. JJ’s getting really good at the geographic profile, but I think it annoys her to stay at the station when we’re all out.”
“She’s pregnant. It’s not worth the risk,” Aaron reminds you.
“I know, honey, but it’s still annoying. It’s kind of like when you break your leg and you’re not allowed to go to work but you still have to hear all about it from your girlfriend,” you point out, and he smirks at you.
“Morgan’s doing okay? The field agents aren’t giving him any trouble?”
“Morgan can handle himself just fine against any cocky field agent. You don’t need to worry about us, sweetheart. We’re okay. You trained us up good,” you smiled at him, and he blushed, rolling his eyes at you. “We want you back, but we want you back healthy,” you tell him.
“Well, the doctor cleared me to start PT in two weeks. So hopefully I’ll be back sooner rather than later,” Aaron tells you.
“That's great news! So the cast is coming off soon?” You ask.
“Yeah, he wants to see me again to take it off and give me the final go-ahead for PT.”
“And you’re gonna take it easy at PT, because you know you can’t rush recovery, right?” You remind him.
“Yes, mom,” he teases you with a smile.
“It’s my turn to fret over you. Karma’s a bitch,” you smile at him as you get up to take his plate to the dishwasher. As you do so, his phone rings.
“Hotchner,” he says into the receiver. “Woah, woah. Slow down, please. Are you okay?” Aaron says, and you turn around immediately, concerned. “Garcia, hold on. I’m going to put you on speaker. Yeah, she’s home. She’s here with me.” Aaron says, his eyes flicking over to you as he pulls the phone away from his ear and adjusts the volume.
“Okay, so, I have been keeping an eye on Josh’s arrest record, awaiting his arraignment and his court dates so that we could throw a big ‘Josh is in prison for life party,’” she tells you, spitting out information a mile a minute. “There hadn’t been any movement for a few days, and I couldn’t figure out why, but I decided to check one more time before I went to bed tonight, and Josh’s dealer posted bail for him four days ago.”
“What?” You say. You heard her, heard every word she said in perfect clarity. But there had to be a mistake, right?
“Garcia, what do you have on the dealer? What has Josh been doing for the past four days?” Aaron asks, and you hear him, but you also… don’t. Everything sounds like you have cotton stuck inside your ears, or like you’re underwater. This couldn’t really be happening, could it?
“That’s a trigger,” you mumble quietly, and you think that Aaron doesn’t hear you, he’s so focused on his conversation with Garcia that you try hopelessly to follow. He turns to you, after a moment, tucking his phone back into his pocket.
“What did you say, doll?” He asks you.
“That’s a trigger. You know, how we say that serial killers have triggers that make them start killing people. This is probably a trigger to start killing,” you say, staring at a spot of dirt on the tile. Jack must have tracked it on his cleats, and Aaron couldn’t mop with his injury. You should really clean that. You needed to get the dirt off the floor. Mop, mop, where did Aaron keep the mop? You pulled it out of the closet and were headed for the stain when you felt Aaron’s hands come to rest on your shoulders, blocking your path.
“Hon, what are you doing?’ He asks, trying to make eye contact with you, which you avoided.
“The floor needs to be mopped.” You answer, emotionless.
“Why don’t you come sit down, the floor can wait,” he says, trying to guide you towards the sofa.
“Aaron, your knee! Go sit. Go, go. I just need to get the floor clean. Please just go sit and I can fix it. It’s okay. I got it.” You got more and more worked up as you continued to stare at the dirt, watching the stain grow as your vision blurred, as if the dirt were mocking you.
“Hey, hey hey. Where’d you go, angel? Come back here with me, love. You’re gonna be okay. I’m not gonna let anything happen to you.” He says, wrapping his arms around you.
You’d never wished more that you believed him.

Class, repeat after me: “Thank you, @ddejavvu!” 🧎🏽♀️
Seeing Aaron for the first time with the fbi vest on 👀 the vest stays ON 😉
just know i wanted this to have the same energy as the scene where derek gets shot and he flashes his bandaged abs at penelope and she just pets them like 😵
--
The door clicks shut behind you, soft and smooth. It's a sound you're well accustomed to now, and not even the soft sizzle of the oil in your frying pan can trick you into ignoring it. You've got a trained ear for the click, because it means that Aaron's home.
He closes the door near-silently because he's nervous about waking Jack up. Even though it's mid-afternoon, old habits die hard.
As it happens, today is a day that Jack naps. He's passed out, spread starfish over your bed, head on Aaron's pillow and leg thrown over one of yours. You'd run him ragged at the playground today, and you're using the down time to make yourself some stir-fry.
"Aaron," You call, your voice a soft hum so that it doesn't disturb Jack from the other room, "In the kitchen."
"Hi, honey." He murmurs, arms slipping around you from behind, "Early day today, we just helped the local PD with an arrest. They needed a door-breaker, and Morgan is legend. 'Figured I'd let everyone off early to get some lunch."
You let out a soft laugh at the mention of his bulky agent, you'd recommend him for the job, too. You turn your head to press your lips sloppily against his, an awkward angle but a sweet gesture. He reciprocates as best he can, eyes fluttering shut.
"Jack here?" Aaron inquires after you part, nose tucked into your neck.
"Yeah," You hum, eyes on your stir-fry as it sizzles, though you're leaning into Aaron practically hard enough to knock him down, "He's napping. I wore him out at the park."
"Good job," Aaron chuckles, squeezing your waist. He makes to toe off his shoes by the door, but when he separates from you a soft rrrip is heard, one that strikes fear into your heart for the pretty blouse you're wearing.
"What-?" You peer down, expecting to see a hole in your shirt. Instead, you catch a thick black strap that hangs off of Aaron's chest, in fact, there's several, lining up and down his- oh, fuck.
He's wearing his bulletproof vest. The dark grey material molds tight to his abdomen, straps stretching around his torso. It only adds heft to his build, something that makes your mouth water. If Aaron notices any drool, he attributes it to the smell of the stir-fry on the stove.
"You..." You reach out to brush your finger over the bottom of the vest, "You brought home your vest?"
"Kind of forgot about it," He shrugs, watching the cloudy look in your eyes, "Everything okay?"
"Mhm," You hum casually, "Yeah that's- this is more than okay. It's... is this something you wear a lot?"
"Uh, every time I think someone might have a gun," He chuckles bewilderedly, "What is up with you?"
"Nothing." You breathe, looking up at him dazedly. He's staring at you, entirely unconvinced, but he doesn't have time to drill you any more when you take hold of his chin, dragging him into a kiss.
If he's surprised, he doesn't show it. You feel his hands encase your cheeks, pulling you closer even if your hands are doing so around his sides. You brace your palms against his vest, feeling the way that it gives him an extra layer of stomach, like a muscle of it's own, always flexed.
"Not that I'm-" Aaron speaks, but his words muffle when you keep pressing incessant kisses to his bottom lip, "-complaining, but- what is this about?"
"You look damn good in that vest, Hotchner." You purr, stir-fry the last thing on your mind as your thigh comes up to stick to his side, "Jack's asleep on our bed, just take me here."
"Uh, wow." His eyes widen, not negatively so, though, as a laugh escapes his throat. You're tempted to swallow it, but you're more focused on his neck, now, nipping down the heated skin.
"First of all," He reaches forward to turn off the stove, nudging the pan onto a back burner, "Sex would be unpleasant in a burning building. And second," He grips your thigh in one hand, fingers digging roughly into your flesh so that it bulges between his fingers, "The kitchen counter won't be comfortable for you. Let's do the couch instead, honey."

Joan’s Song 3: Torfan
“Execute the prisoners, we are leaving.” Sergeant Bartholemew was staring at Commander Joan Shepard, bewildered. “Ma’am?”. “What is it, Sergeant?” “Ma’am, those are POWs. How can we execute them?”. Shepard could feel tears coming up. ‘Don’t lose your nerves now, stay focused. You are an N7′. She drew her pistol and gunned down the one batarian kneeling closest to her. “I think, that’s the way it is done. Now get to it, Sergeant.” Bartholemew opened and closed his mouth like a fish on dry land. Shepard turned around and grabbed the much taller man by his collar. “Listen, Sam, I am going to get us out of here. But only if you do as I say. So, if you wanna see your daughters again, shoot those animals so we can be away before we get overrun by a goddam fucking army of them.”
This was worse than Akuze or Elysium. This mission just had gone completely south and Shepard had to run for her life. But Major Kyle was going to pay for it.
Yesterday morning, Shepard and Major Kyle had been in the CIC of the SSV Sadowa. A holographic Admiral Hackett was patched in via QEC. They were studying a 3D-map of Tofan. Torfan was a moon and served as a major hub for batarian slave-trade galaxy-wide. A prime target for Alliance retaliation after Elysium. The problem was, the batarians knew that too and had it heavily fortified. Batteries of surface-to-orbit cannons made an orbital bombardment impossible. A bombardment was problematical anyways because it was unknown how many human slaves were on Torfan. And while it was possible to land troops on the dark side of this moon, surface access was denied by automated sentry turrets, lots of them.
Kyle had completed his sitrep outlining these problems. “Any ideas?”, Hackett asked. “Yes, Sirs, if you allow.” Shepard had been working on her plan the whole night while she heard that Kyle, in the cabin next door, was watching a broadcasting of “The Beauty and the Beasts” from Tuchanka’s Radioactive Hall. ‘That’s why you are still a major at an age I will be an admiral’, she had thought. “We use a Troian Horse: The military port is heavily guarded, but the animals keep security not that tight on the cargo-port supplying the settlement. We use a freighter to sneak in, gain control and hack into their network from the port’s tower. That way we disable the turrets, roll in with IFVs, take control of the compound, free our slaves and turn Torfan into smoking crater afterward.” “Oldest trick in human history.”, Kyle said scoffingly. “The animals won’t know it”, replied Shepard. “So, you gonna play Ulysses or what?” “And drunk delight of battle with my peers, far on the ringing plains of windy Troy.” Shepard was surprised by herself that she still knew that line by heart. “Enough!”, Hackett interrupted them. “I like it. Commander, what do you need?” “A volus freighter, thirty commandos, and a hacker, Sir.”
The resources of the Alliance were nearly limitless, and it didn’t surprise Shepard that Admiral Hackett was able to produce a volus freighter with proper clearance for Torfan as well as thirty N-grade marines within a few hours. She wasn’t prepared for the ‘hacker’, though. A freckled woman reported in as ‘Lieutenant Jan Schaeffer’. “Reporting in”, probably didn’t really cut it: Schaeffer was chewing gums and didn’t even pretend to shape up for a superior officer. Red hair, green eyes, both colors obviously artificial. The right arm showed a tattoo with a red hood and two crossed guns, ancient gunpowder pistols; possibly a gang-tag. On the other arm, she had a turian and an asari kissing. Whatever that meant to her. If someone like that made it to lieutenant, she must be extremely good at whatever she does. Shepard felt her pulse going up and her mouth drying out. “So, where are you from, Schaeffer?” “Buenos Aires.” “Really? Never met anyone from there.” Shepard felt like a babbling teenager the moment she said it. Schaeffer shrugged, “You sure had been working hard on that. We must be 30 million by now.” ‘No, forget it, Joan. She is Alliance, she is taboo.’
The operation went as planned. Shepard’s team landed on the cargo port, emerged from the volus’ freighter, and gained control of the port’s tower. No casualties on the Alliance’s side. In fact, the team was so swift that no alarm was sounded. Lieutenant Schaeffer immediately went to work with the batarians’ network. “Any problems?”, Shepard wanted to know. “From those animals? Bah. Okay, I am in. You can start the party, Shepard.” “Strike Team to Fleet. Do you copy?” “We read you, Strike Team.” That was Admiral Hackett himself. “We are in control of the port. Enemy defenses are down.” “Good work, Commander. Ground Team, begin your approach.” “Copy that”, that one came from Major Kyle in command of the IFVs.
“Now, all we have to do is waiting for the bus.” Shepard carefully touched Jan’s shoulder. This lieutenant’s aura of strength, confidence, and violence seriously attracted Shepard. ‘Be honest, it turns you on’, she scolded herself. A little touch couldn’t hurt. At this moment the lieutenant shouted, “Son of a bitch!”. Shepard thought that was about her and immediately drew away her hand. But Schaeffer was staring at her monitors. “What’s wrong?”, Shepard demanded to know. “Someone is countering me. Erecting additional firewalls. Seems like that asshole is making me work for my money.” Strangely, still no alarms. Shepard checked the tactical screen. The IFVs were advancing; but somewhat slower than she had expected. She thought of sending a warning to Kyle, but maybe it was nothing and there was no need to spread around problems on her side of the mission.
Minutes passed. Shepard started pacing up and down the room while the lieutenant was typing and clicking at an incredible speed. Suddenly Chief Mark Landerzoo, the team's sniper, rushed through the door. “Commander, the volus is taking off.” “What?” “Guys, please!”, that one came from Schaeffer. Shepard grabbed the chief by his arm and pulled him out into the open. She closed the door to the tower behind them. Outside, she could see it: the freighter was starting, gained speed and disappeared into the sky. And then the alarms went on. ‘Now the animals know we are here’
“Shepard!” That was Jan. Shepard returned into the tower, “What’s going on?” “I am losing this one. It’s the fanciest piece of shit code I have ever seen.” Shepard had no idea of computers and hacking. “A batarian hacker? Don’t tell me one of the animals is beating you to it.” “Hell, no! It’s automated, a guardian program. Maybe collector-tec or geth. Dunno. But you better call your buddy: those turrets are about to go online again.” Shepard checked her tactical screen: Kyle already had passed half of the perimeter. If the remaining turrets did go online it would be a rough ride for him, but doable. Masses of red dots were moving from the compound in Kyle’s direction. Batarian ground troops. Strangely, no one came in Shepard’s direction. The animals still were not aware of her presence at the cargo port. She had a plan.
“Strike Team to Ground Team, do you copy?”Shepard could already hear the pop-pop-pop of the rockets both in the distance as well as over the comm when Major Kyle answered. “Ground Team here. We are taking heavy casualties! What’s going on there, Shepard?” “The batarians have regained control of the turrets. You have to fight your way through. Enemy ground-forces are advancing on your position. If you keep pushing forward I can hit their rear and crush them.” Silence, then, “Negative on that, commander. I have to retreat.” “Are you crazy, Kyle? We are trapped here.” “Fleet to Ground Team”, this was Admiral Hackett, “retreat denied. Keep on advancing, no matter the costs.” “Admiral, we are getting slaughtered out here! All units fall back!” Shepard couldn’t believe her ears. “What the hell are you doing, Kyle?” “Just making sure my unit survives. I am sorry, Shepard, I had to make a choice.” “You’re gonna regret this thing, Major.”, Shepard hissed before turning off the comm.
“Sucker! At least, the animals are now all after his sorry ass.”, said Jan. “hmm”, Shepard was breeding on the next plan. Having been first in her class in Infantry Tactics was going to pay off. “You said, they use a program to block you off? It must be running on some kind of server, or?” Schaeffer got it, “Yeah, probably in that compound. If you can get me there, I can disable it.” “Lieutenant!”, Shepard thundered, “you are with the Alliance Marines! We do not ‘disable’ this kind of shit, we blow it up!” “Ma’am, yes, Ma’am”, replied Schaeffer grinning while clapping on the Tempest SMG at her hip. “You might need a bigger gun than that. Seriously, LT.” “Don’t worry, Shepard, I have killed my first man with a pee-shooter like that when you still had wet dreams featuring your teacher.” Shepard felt that she was about to blush and turned away. Not only was Jan right with that teacher cliche, but she also realized that Jan obviously saw her as a spoiled princess that had inherited the shoulder bars from mommy and daddy. This was more embarrassing than hurting ‘But how wrong is she really? You have to be better than the rest, tougher than the rest, harder than the rest to show them that you have earned your place.’ Shepard left the tower and ordered Landerzoo to gather the team. Then her eyes fell on Sergeant Bartholomew guarding the eight batarians they had caught pants down when attacking the space-port.
Her team was no standing unit but a random selection of elite-classed marines. Shepard didn’t know most of them. By chance, Shepard and Schaeffer were the only women as well as the only officers. “The IFVs won’t be coming, so we are stuck here. And as you can see”, Shepard made a gesture towards the dead batarian POWs, “surrendering is not an option on this moon. We still got our mission and we are going to complete it: Free the slaves and destroy this base. For now, the animals are ignorant of our presence, but that will change as soon as we start our attack. So, move fast, strike hard, and make today be remembered as the day Death came to Torfan.” Corporal Ramirez saluted shouting “Who’s like us?” Shepard returned the salute, “damn few; and they’re all dead.”
They had to pass through the settlement in order to reach the compound. Random shots were fired at them as soon as they moved between the containers that formed the housings of the batarians. This was no organized resistance but armed civilians. Maybe the females of the batarian soldiers. Difficult to tell with those animals. Shepard wanted to keep the enemy that disorganized: there were four paths leading to the compound, so she split her team into four columns, each for one path. This worked: even though all four columns were constantly under fire, they outnumbered the enemy in every encounter. The left flank column under Chief Schmitt had the longest route to the compound and also was the one to get in contact with the batarian regulars first, once they returned from chasing after Kyle. And meanwhile, they would be aware of what was going on in their back. Shepard made that column and the one next to it the strongest with the task of delaying the batarians as much as possible. Shepard’s own team on the far right had the shortest route to the compound. It was composed of herself, Schaeffer, Landerzoo, and Bartholemew. To their left was Sergeant Pitt with six men. This meant the marines would be hitting the compound with ten men. Tactical scans showed no more than fifty armed people inside. Odds even.
Shepard’s team had a rather easy approach. But when rounding a corner, she literally run into three batarians. There was no room for her rifle, not even time to extract the omniblade. Her adrenaline rush kicked in. She doge under the first one grabbed him by his collar and belt, got up again to lever him over her shoulder and threw him on the second one. This gave room to extract the omniblade which she rammed into one of the four eyes of the last batarian still on his feet. Meanwhile, Bartholemew had shot the second batarian who was just about to crawl out under his comrade. That comrade now was finished by Shepard when she smashed her boot into his face. ‘Stand in my way and you’ll be crushed under my heal. I mean it.’ “Shepard, you sure you’re human and not krogan?” asked Schaeffer. “Wanna see my quad, LT?” Grinning back Schaeffer showed a line of perfectly white teeth.
The compound was composed of three round bunkers that formed the entrance to some kind of underground ant-farm. Each one had two rocket-turrets mounted on its roof. Their arrangement, however, was bad, insofar as the closest bunker was blocking the line-of-fire of the other two in Shepard’s direction. The animals hadn’t expected anyone attacking from the settlement. “I got this one”, said Chief Landerzoo and grabbed the M-98 Anti-Material Rifle from his back. Pitt’s team meanwhile had arrived, but he had lost two men, reducing Shepard’s assault force to eight. She checked her tactical screen: Schmitt was under attack by the batarian ground forces. But the animals believed the Alliance troops to be much larger than they were and acted accordingly cautious.
Landerzoo had readied his AMR and switched on the cloaking device of his suit: 2,000 micro-cameras made him nearly invisible and blocked thermal readings. Both were highly proto-typed and Shepard had never seen this tec in action. He sneaked out of cover, invisible to the turrets. Shepard could only vaguely guess his silhouette when he went prone ahead of the bunker. The sniper fired and the first turret was blown apart by the big piece of metal fired from the M-98. The shot, however, immediately caused the rifle to overheat. This, in return, caused the cloak to collapse. Landerzoo was lying in the plain open with a non-functional gun. The second turret turned around. “Shit”, this one came from Shepard and Schaeffer simultaneously. Shepard started running while Landerzoo tried to roll away. The turret’s targeting VI had correctly calculated Landerzoo’s movement and the first shot obliterated him. ‘A stupid idea’, thought Shepard, ‘the turret will get you all the same. At least, it will be quick.’ But its next shots went wide: Schaeffer and Bartholemew had been shooting from their cover at the turret, now Pitt’s men provided covering-fire as well. The turret’s VI considered several firing opponents a higher threat than one running target.
When Shepard had reached the M-98, the rifle had completed its cooling-down cycle. She went prone and pulled the trigger without much aiming. The aiming assistance did its job. The recoil was painful though. Modern infantry weapons didn’t have it, but the M-98 used a tiny mass effect explosion to accelerate 250 grams of metal close to the speed of light. “Ground Team to Fleet. Do you copy? The enemy defenses are about to go offline again in short. We need an immediate evac then.” “We read you, Commander. Standing by.” It was comforting to hear Hackett's voice again. To Shepard, it was as if he was watching over them. Time to withdraw the flanking column as well. “Schmitt, come in. What’s your status? Fall back to the compound.” “Negative, Commander. We are boxed in. Down to nine men. We keep the animals busy as long as possible. Buying your time.” “I see... Thank you, Frank.” Shepard had come to Torfan with 30 good men. All but seven were dead. And for what?
Schaeffer had hacked the door to the bunker. Deep-scans showed that the main server was under this bunker. At least they didn’t have to fight through kilometers of ducts and tunnels. A few guards were gunned down without problems. There was one outstanding issue, though. Sergeant Bartholemew brought it up while they took the elevator down to the level where the server would be. “What about the slaves?”. According to thermal readings, there must have been nearly 300 persons inside the compound. Most of them confined in an area ten floors below the second bunker. Those would have been the humans. “I am sorry”, said Shepard, “this place will be overrun in a few minutes. We can’t do anything for them. They were dead the moment the animals caught them.” “Shit”, was the only thing Schaeffer said. Shepard had noticed that the lieutenant had become rather silent since they had entered the bunker. ‘Time to get you out of here, love.’
“This is it?” They had reached the server-level. A large room, full of servers from different sources, salarian, human, asari, and a huge transparent round device in the middle of them. “Yeah, I’d say all those serves do nothing but running a cooling system for that piece of shit”, Schaeffer was pointing at the bowl. “So, overload them and the entire system would go to hell. I’d rather be far away when this happens, though.” “Do it, Jan.” She started overloading the servers with her omnitool. This caused a new alarm to go on, and, with that, five batarians appearing on a balcony at the far end of the room. They started firing.
Schaeffer went down with a groaning. Shepard immediately dropped on her and covered the lieutenant with her body. While all marines returned fire, it seemed that the batarians were only shooting at Schaeffer. Shepard’s shields quickly collapsed and metal splinters cut her armor and the flesh of her back at hypervelocity. She didn’t feel it, but Shepard’s back now looked as if she had been whipped. With the batarians finally dead, Shepard rolled the lieutenant on her back. Jan was bleeding from several wounds in her chest. Red bubbles were forming on her lips as she exhaled. Her lungs were hit, Jan was dying. Shepard held her hand. Jan was looking up at her. Frightened. “You are the most beautiful krogan I have ever seen.”, she suddenly said. Shepard smiled, warm, fighting tears, “And you are the hottest nerd I have ever met.” Jan tried to laugh but instead coughed blood on Shepard’s armor. “Look, I have ruined your armor.” “I would like to see you clean it” Jan touched Shepard’s cheek with a bloodstained hand, “in another universe maybe, Joan”, she said with fainting voice. Her arm dropped and then Jan was dead. With trembling fingers, Shepard removed Lieutenant Jan Schaeffer’s dog tags. Sergeant Bartholomew gently touched Shepard’s shoulder. “Commander, I have medigel for your back, but we have to go.”
Back in the elevator, Bartholomew used medigel for Shepard’s wounds. Shepard didn’t notice it. She was absent as if she was watching the scene from afar. Pitt was saying something to her. She nodded without listening. When they left the elevator, they saw a human girl trying to shove entrails back into a dead batarian. Shepard wasn’t able to process what she was seeing. She said to no one in particular, “Grab the girl.” When they were outside, the compound shook with an enormous explosion. Minutes later the sky was filled with Alliance fighter. A single shuttle was sufficient to evacuate Shepard’s team.
Admiral Hackett knew Joan Shepard since the day she was born. Seeing her like this hurt him. She had Jan’s blood on her chest and in her face. Her back was ragged. That blood was her own’s. There was batarian blood on her right boot too. Joan used to wear her hair in an accurate bun. However, two thick strands were hanging down her right cheek, bloodstained. She was pale and her blue-gray eyes were cold as ice. 'I have turned John Shepard’s wonderful daughter into a demon.’, Hackett thought. “Where’s Kyle?”, she demanded to know. ‘She is dead!’ Shepard could hear her own voice screaming in the back of her head. Admiral Hackett had made sure this debriefing was held in private. “Relieved of his command. He obviously is suffering from PTSD. Unfit for duty. He won’t be in command of anything else.” “No.” Shepard simply said, ‘I want her back’, the voice screamed. “Joan, you know how it works. Killing him won’t bring the others back. Just destroy everything you had been fighting for.” “There were three hundred humans in that bunker! I killed them! Why?” ‘I loved her so’ Then she couldn’t hold back and burst out in tears. Hackett held her.
“What have we got?” The Illusive Man wanted to know. Miranda Lawson was patched in from Torfan. “The Alliance was very thorough, but I think we can recover enough code fragments from the turrets for a partial reconstruction. You were right, it doesn’t look like anything familiar from this galaxy.” “Good. This is now Project Hannibal. You are in charge, Miranda.”

EU Lifts Many Permissions Versus Belarus In spite of Human Rights Issues.
When you lift the weight, weightlifting increases your heart rate during the brief ruptureds of power. The lift in my block of apartments is such an antique it has a cable grille as well as doors that open up in an outward direction, like the ones in Woman in a Cage, allowing me to play pranks on visitors by making believe to be the little boy ghost from Animosity as well as peering in at them as they rotate gradually previous. It is much easier if we consider the numbers from pascal's triangular installation right into spaces. He raised his hand to comply with the next step but I ordered it softly as well as place it pull back. The players continued to be in high spirits and also were heard giggling that their combined weight could have triggered the lift to bend. In the year to the end of June, concerning 35% of those joining The Gym had actually never ever been participants of various other health and fitness centres. Busta Rhymes
Trevor George Smith Jr. (born May 20, 1972), better known by his stage name Busta Rhymes, is an American recording artist, actor, record producer and record executive. Chuck D of Public Enemy gave him the moniker Busta Rhymes, after NFL wide receiver George "Buster" Rhymes. He is widely known for his outlandish style and fashion sense depicted in several highly innovative music videos as well as his intricate rhyming technique, rapping at a high rate of speed with heavy use of internal rhyme and half rhyme, and to date has received 11 Grammy Award nominations for his musical work.
About.com included him on its list of the 50 Greatest MCs of Our Time (1987–2007), while Steve Huey of AllMusic called him one of the best and most prolific rappers of the 1990s. In 2012, The Source placed him on their list of the Top 50 Lyricists of All Time. MTV has called him "one of hip-hop's greatest visual artists."
Busta Rhymes was an original member of Leaders of the New School. He later went on and founded the record label Conglomerate (initially Flipmode Entertainment) and production crew The Conglomerate (formerly Flipmode Squad). In November 2011, Busta Rhymes signed a deal with Cash Money Records. On July 23, 2014, Busta Rhymes announced that he left Cash Money Records due to creative differences and was no longer on Republic. In 2016 Rhymes signed with Epic for his upcoming album due to be released in early 2017.
He has so far released nine studio albums, with the first being the 1996 platinum-selling album The Coming. His list of hit singles include "Woo Hah!! Got You All in Check", "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See", "Dangerous", "Turn It Up (Remix)/Fire It Up", "Gimme Some More", "What's It Gonna Be?!", "Pass the Courvoisier, Part II", "I Know What You Want" and "Touch It", among several others.
Early life
Busta Rhymes was born Trevor George Smith Jr. in Brooklyn, New York, on May 20, 1972 to Geraldine Green and Trevor Smith, who are from Jamaica. At age 12, he moved to Uniondale, Long Island, and later moved to the United Kingdom, spending time in Liverpool and Morecambe, England, before returning to the United States to attend Uniondale High School, graduating in 1991.
The most known story of Busta's tenure at Westinghouse High School was battle rapping his fellow schoolmate Jay Z in the school's cafeteria one day, to whom he ultimately lost.
Music career
1989–1995: Leaders of the New School and rising popularity
In 1989, Smith, alongside fellow Long Island natives Charlie Brown (born Bryan Higgins), Dinco D (born James Jackson) and Cut Monitor Milo (born Sheldon Scott), formed the East Coast hip hop group Leaders of the New School. The group's big break was when they became an opening act for fellow Long Island hip hop group Public Enemy. Public Enemy's Chuck D gave Busta Rhymes and Charlie Brown their respective stage names. Leaders of the New School began recording in late 1989 and released their debut album A Future Without a Past... in 1991 on Elektra Records. In early 1992, the group appeared on A Tribe Called Quest's posse cut "Scenario," in which Busta Rhymes's climactic verse propelled him into the cultural consciousness. In 1993, they released T.I.M.E. (The Inner Mind's Eye). Soon after, however, internal problems arose because of Busta Rhymes's increasing popularity, and the group broke up on the set of Yo! MTV Raps.
By the summer of 1992, Rhymes began making guest appearances on songs by several artists such as Big Daddy Kane, Another Bad Creation, The Notorious B.I.G., Brand Nubian, A Tribe Called Quest, KRS-One, as well on the interludes to Mary J. Blige's debut What's the 411? and R&B trio TLC's Diamond-certified second album CrazySexyCool. He also appeared on the album jacket of fellow hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest's Midnight Marauders, with a host of other fellow hip-hop pioneers. In early 1993, he appeared in a cameo role in Who's the Man? with his fellow LONS group members. That same year, he appeared as part of an ensemble cast in the Forest Whitaker-directed HBO film Strapped which also starred rapper and actor Fredro and Bokeem Woodbine and co-starred alongside Ice Cube and Omar Epps in the John Singleton film, Higher Learning.
By late 1994, after making appearances on the single "Oh My God" with A Tribe Called Quest, he teamed up with Puff Daddy, LL Cool J, Rampage and former classmate The Notorious B.I.G., on a remix to Craig Mack's hit "Flava In Ya Ear", soon after he would team up again with The Notorious B.I.G. among a plethora of rappers such as Bone Thugs-n-Harmony and Coolio on a posse cut, "The Points" which appeared on the soundtrack to the 1995 film Panther. At this time, Rhymes engaged in a memorable freestyle battle rap with the late Ol' Dirty Bastard, rapping the first few verses of his future breakout debut single "Woo-Hah!!" in early 1995. Rhymes also worked on unreleased material with Diddy, The Notorious B.I.G., The LOX, Fugees, Mary J. Blige, Foxy Brown, Mase, Jay-Z, Michael Jackson, DMX, Lil' Kim and Snoop Dogg. Some or neither of the collaborations came to fruition, and Rhymes begun recording what would be his debut studio album in late 1995.
1995–1999: The Coming, When Disaster Strikes, and Extinction Level Event: Final World Front
In the summer of 1995, Busta Rhymes began working on his solo debut album The Coming, and a month after recording the album, he released it in March 1996. A month before the album was released, he broke out with a hit single, "Woo Hah!! Got You All in Check". Later, he started work on his second album, When Disaster Strikes, which would not be released until September 1997. It produced the hit singles "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See" and "Fire It Up".
In 1998, Busta Rhymes recorded Extinction Level Event (Final World Front). Its lead single "Gimme Some More" — which sampled Bernard Herrmann's theme from Psycho — reached number 6 in the UK singles chart in January 1999. Busta Rhymes enjoyed further transatlantic success in April, when the single "What's It Gonna Be?!", featuring Janet Jackson, reached the US and UK Top 11. The album received prominent notice for featuring the fastest rapping Busta Rhymes has ever performed, particularly on a song called "Iz They Wildin Wit Us?", featuring a guest appearance by Mystikal.
That same year, the Flipmode Squad released their group album, and from there, they continued to collaborate.
2000–2004: Anarchy, Genesis, and It Ain't Safe No More
In 2000, Busta Rhymes recorded his final album for Elektra, entitled Anarchy. After Busta signed to J Records, a label started by the then recently ousted Arista Records chief and founder Clive Davis, he released a greatest hits collection Total Devastation: The Best of Busta Rhymes, alongside a new album of original work. Continuing the Biblical theme of his previous albums, he titled his record Genesis. The album featured collaborations with Mary J. Blige, P. Diddy, Kelis, and others. Genesis was powered by the hit single with Kelis, "What It Is", and his solo single released in November 2001, "Break Ya Neck". The final single was the summer smash "Pass the Courvoisier, Part II", which featured Pharrell and P. Diddy. Despite the success of the two singles, this album did not sell as well as previous releases. Fellow Flipmode members were featured, but minor changes in the roster were noted.
In 2002, Busta Rhymes released his sixth studio album It Ain't Safe No More. The album was moderately successful, with a hit song featuring Mariah Carey and the Flipmode Squad titled "I Know What You Want". Another hit single was "Make It Clap", featuring Spliff Star. The remix of "Make It Clap", features Sean Paul. After its release, Busta Rhymes left J Records. In 2004, he signed with American record producer and record executive Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment, through Interscope Records. Consequently, upon changing label, a new Flipmode album was cancelled and shelved. As a side note, Busta was also featured as a playable fighter in the 2004 Electronic Arts fighting game, Def Jam: Fight For NY.
2005–2009: The Big Bang and Back on My B.S.
His seventh studio album, titled The Big Bang, became the first #1 album of his career. The CD sold over 209,000 copies in its first week to earn the top spot on the US Billboard 200. The album also became his highest charting album in the UK, peaking at #19. Some of the album was previously leaked online, and as a result several songs were left off the album and new ones added. The Big Bang features production by Dr. Dre and Swizz Beatz, as well as appearances by Raekwon and Nas. The album spawned the singles "Touch It", "I Love My Bitch", featuring Kelis and will.i.am, "New York Shit", featuring Swizz Beatz and "In The Ghetto". Busta Rhymes also had a stint opening for Mariah Carey's The Adventures of Mimi Tour. Also, he has performed with Eminem on "Touch It Remix Part 5" and who also performed a verse on the aforementioned rapper's song, "I'll Hurt You". On July 17, 2008, Busta left Interscope and Aftermath due to a creative clash with Interscope head Jimmy Iovine.
In 2007, Busta Rhymes released a song featuring Linkin Park, titled "We Made It". He also made an original song ("Where's My Money") for a fictional radio station in the 2008 video game Grand Theft Auto IV. It was later revealed that Busta inked a deal with Universal Motown, where he released his eighth studio album Back on My B.S., on May 19, 2009. The album debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200, selling 56,000 copies, and was his first album to not receive an RIAA certification, selling 122,000 copies to date. The album was supported by the singles "Arab Money", featuring Ron Browz, "Hustler's Anthem '09", featuring T-Pain and "Respect My Conglomerate". The song "World Go Round", featuring British singer Estelle, was released in France on April 6, 2009 due to the heavy rotation of a leaked version. The single was released in the UK on July 13, 2009. Busta Rhymes also appeared on Asher Roth's debut album Asleep in the Bread Aisle.
Due to controversial content, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has banned the album. Back on My B.S. was released internationally, but because of one song, "Arab Money", it cannot be purchased as a CD there, although the album can still be purchased via iTunes. According to the National Media Council, the lyrics were considered to be offensive to Arabs and to Islam, because it quoted the Shahada, a sacred Muslim profession of faith which translates to “there is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah" and permission for distribution was therefore denied. The quoting of the Shahada in such a format is forbidden, the remix invoked further controversy by including some verses of the Qu'ran which similarly were stylized in a forbidden manner. Some DJs, artists and fans have lambasted the track, saying it portrays Arabs in a stereotypical way. The first part out of three of the remix by Rhymes contains verses from the Quran.
In November 2008, when "Arab Money" was released as a single, DJ Dany Neville and the Iraqi rapper The Narcicyst responded by recording a reply. Rhymes later apologized. DJs in the country said they had not received an order banning the record from being spun in nightclubs, and they had mixed feelings on whether the record was offensive or not. DJ Saif of Dubai said, "I don't play 'Arab Money' because it's disrespectful [to] Arabs. I don't think there is a ban on playing it in clubs, but many here don't play it anyway."
DJ Bliss, along with many other DJs in the UAE, refused to play "Arab Money" on Radio 1 in Dubai after it was banned in the UAE for offense to Arabs. He added, "I used to play the original version in the club, but out of respect for the laws here in my country, I haven't played it since."
In 2010 the track's producer Ron Browz defended Busta Rhymes in a Dubai interview with journalist Awad Mustafa stating that the track was misunderstood.
"For us, having 'Arab money' is a compliment understood like having 'Oprah money' or 'Tiger Woods money' - it's just street slang, and we were appreciating the amazing wonders that have been created here," Browz said.
Brow added that he had produced the track in a moment of inspiration while experimenting in his studio. "Growing up in Harlem I was always surrounded by Arabs and Muslims, we embraced their culture and they embraced ours and we always joked with each other," he said.

In 2010, Busta Rhymes formed his new label Conglomerate Records (With later on having rosters such as N.O.R.E., and Spliff Star). Jayasuriya, a member of the sacked prime minister’s United Nationwide Get together (UNP), beforehand insisted the choice have to be left to the 225-member Home. Authorized specialists argue whereas a president can appoint a chief minister, he doesn’t have the authority to sack one.
Talks between the president and the speaker had been held hours after the impartial attorney-general declined to touch upon the legality of Sirisena’s actions.
Hundreds rally in Colombo in assist of sacked Sri Lanka PM
In a letter responding to the speaker’s request for his authorized opinion, Jayantha Jayasuriya, the authorities’s prime authorized advisor, mentioned commenting on the matter could be “inappropriate”.

Regardless of the cross-overs, it was unclear if Rajapaksa has the 113 votes he requires. Previous to the disaster, the UNP had the backing of 106 parliamentarians, and the UPFA had 96.
The Tamil Nationwide Alliance (TNA), which has 16 seats in the home, and the Folks’s Liberation Entrance (JVP), with six legislators, have urged Jayasuriya to intervene and reconvene the Home.

A member of the president’s occasion confirmed Sirisena‘s feedback to Al Jazeera.
‘No alternative however Rajapaksa’
Many Sri Lankans in Colombo say they count on Rajapaksa to return out on prime the longer the disaster drags on.
“He’s a charismatic man, he’ll carry legislators to his aspect,” mentioned Jeewaka Perera, a 49-year-old taxi driver.
The daddy of three mentioned he voted in opposition to Rajapaksa within the 2015 elections due to corruption, however the “unity authorities” of Sirisena and Wickremesinghe have did not ship on guarantees of financial reform.
“Ranil Wickremesinghe hasn’t accomplished something for the folks within the final three years,” he mentioned, expressing frustration over excessive gas prices and taxes. “He has failed.”
“I believe what Sirisena has accomplished is flawed,” he mentioned referring to Wickremesinghe’s ouster.
“However now there isn’t a alternative however Rajapaksa. The UNP can by no means be elected once more.”

Is war between China and the US inevitable? | Graham Allison
So, let me thank you for the possibility to talk about the biggest worldwide story of your legitimate lifetime, which is also the foremost international assignment the world will face for as far as the eye can see. The story, of course, is the upward push of China. Not ever earlier than have so many folks risen to this point so speedy, on so many one of a kind dimensions. The mission is the have an impact on of China’s upward thrust — the discombobulation this may intent the Unites States and the worldwide order, of which the U.S. Has been the essential architect and guardian. The previous one hundred years had been what historians now name an "American Century." americans have emerge as familiar with their situation at the high of each pecking order. So the very proposal of yet another nation that would be as colossal and strong as the USA — or bigger — strikes many americans as an assault on who they are.For point of view on what we’re now seeing on this contention, it is priceless to locate it on the greater map of history. The previous 500 years have obvious 16 instances in which a rising vigour threatened to displace a ruling vigour. Twelve of these ended in warfare. So simply in November, we are going to all pause to mark the 100th anniversary of the final day of a struggle that grew to be so encompassing, that it required historians to create an totally new class: world battle. So, on the 11th hour of the eleventh day of the 11th month in 1918, the guns of World conflict I fell silent, but 20 million individuals lay useless. I know that this can be a subtle audience, so you recognize about the rise of China. I will center of attention, therefore, on the influence of China’s upward push, on the us, on the global order and on the prospects for war and peace. However having taught at Harvard over many years, I’ve learned that infrequently, it’s useful to take a brief pause, just to make certain we’re all on the identical web page. The way in which I do this is, I call a time-out, I provide scholars a pop quiz — ungraded, of direction. So, let’s do this. Time-out, pop quiz. Query: forty years ago, 1978, China sets out on its march to the market. At that point, what percentage of China’s 1000000000 citizens had been struggling to survive on lower than two bucks a day? Take a guess — 25 percentage? Fifty? Seventy-5? Ninety. What do you believe? Ninety. Nine out of each 10 on less than two dollars a day.Twenty eighteen, 40 years later. What in regards to the numbers? What’s your bet? Take a appear. Fewer than one in one hundred today. And China’s president has promised that inside the next three years, those final tens of thousands could have been raised up above that threshold. So it’s a miracle, without a doubt, in our lifetime. Hard to suppose. But brute facts are even tougher to disregard. A nation that did not even show up on any of the global league tables 25 years in the past has soared, to rival — and in some areas, surpass — the united states. Thus, the undertaking on the way to form our world: a reputedly unstoppable rising China accelerating in the direction of an apparently immovable ruling US, on path for what could be the grandest collision in history. To help us get our minds round this task, i will introduce you to a quality thinker, i will present a huge thought, and i’m going to pose a most consequential query. The fine thinker is Thucydides. Now, i know his title is a mouthful, and a few individuals have situation saying it. So, let’s do it, one, two, three, together: Thucydides. Another time: Thucydides. So who was once Thucydides? He was the daddy and founding father of history. He wrote the first-ever historical past publication. It is titled "The history of the Peloponnesian battle," concerning the battle in Greece, 2500 years ago. So if nothing else at present, you can tweet your friends, "I met a high-quality thinker. And i will even pronounce his identify: Thucydides." So, about this war that destroyed classical Greece, Thucydides wrote famously: "It was once the rise of Athens and the fear that this instilled in Sparta that made the warfare inevitable." So the rise of 1 and the reaction of the opposite create a poisonous cocktail of pride, conceitedness, paranoia, that drug them both to battle. Which brings me to the massive notion: Thucydides’s entice. "Thucydides’s trap" is a term I coined a number of years ago, to make vivid Thucydides’s insight. Thucydides’s lure is the dangerous dynamic that occurs when a rising vigour threatens to displace a ruling vigor, like Athens — or Germany 100 years in the past, or China at present — and their influence on Sparta, or best Britain 100 years ago, or the U.S. In these days.As Henry Kissinger has stated, while you get this inspiration, this thought of Thucydides’s entice to your head, it is going to furnish a lens for serving to you look by way of the information and noise of the day to have an understanding of what’s virtually happening. So, to the most consequential query about our world in these days: Are we going to follow in the footsteps of historical past? Or do we, via a mixture of creativeness and fashioned feel and braveness find a way to manage this rivalry with out a struggle nobody wishes, and everyone is aware of can be catastrophic? Provide me 5 minutes to unpack this, and later this afternoon, when the subsequent information story pops up for you about China doing this, or the united states reacting like that, you’re going to be competent to have a greater figuring out of what’s going on and even to provide an explanation for it to your friends. In order we noticed with this flipping the pyramid of poverty, China has genuinely soared. It is meteoric. Former Czech president, Vaclav Havel, I believe, put it best. He said, "All this has happened so speedy, we’ve not but had time to be astonished." (Laughter) To remind myself how astonished I will have to be, I every now and then seem out the window in my office in Cambridge at this bridge, which works across the Charles River, between the Kennedy college and Harvard business college. In 2012, the State of Massachusetts mentioned they have been going to renovate this bridge, and it would take two years. In 2014, they said it wasn’t finished. In 2015, they stated it would take another year. In 2016, they said it is not completed, we’re not going to let you know when it is going to be finished. Subsequently, last 12 months, it was finished — thrice over funds. Now, compare this to a identical bridge that I drove throughout last month in Beijing. It’s known as the Sanyuan Bridge. In 2015, the chinese language made up our minds they wanted to renovate that bridge. It without a doubt has twice as many lanes of visitors. How lengthy did it take for them to complete the assignment? Twenty fifteen, what do you guess? Take a guess — adequate, three — Take a appear. (Laughter) The answer is forty three hours. (audience: Wow!) (Laughter) Graham Allison: Now, of path, that could not happen in big apple. (Laughter) at the back of this speed in execution is a reason-driven leader and a govt that works. The most ambitious and most in a position chief on the worldwide stage today is chinese language President Xi Jinping. And he is made no secret about what he needs. As he stated when he grew to become president six years ago, his intention is to make China great once more — (Laughter) a banner he raised long before Donald Trump picked up a variant of this. To that end, Xi Jinping has introduced specific objectives for specified dates: 2025, 2035, 2049. By means of 2025, China way to be the dominant vigour within the main market in 10 main applied sciences, together with driverless cars, robots, synthetic intelligence, quantum computing. Via 2035, China way to be the innovation chief across all the advanced technologies. And by using 2049, which is the one centesimal anniversary of the founding of the folks’s Republic, China approach to be unambiguously quantity one, including, Xi Jinping, an military that he calls "combat and Win." So these are audacious objectives, however as one can find, China is already well on its technique to these objectives. And we must recollect how quick our world is changing. Thirty years in the past, the arena broad internet had not yet even been invented. Who will consider the have an effect on of this upward thrust of China most immediately? Certainly, the current quantity one. As China will get better and better and richer, technologically extra developed, it will inevitably bump up in opposition to American positions and prerogatives. Now, for pink-blooded americans — and mainly for red-necked americans like me; i’m from North Carolina — there’s whatever incorrect with this photo. The United States way quantity one, that’s who we’re. But once more, to repeat: brute facts are difficult to ignore. Four years in the past, Senator John McCain asked me to testify about this to his Senate Armed offerings Committee. And that i made for them a chart that you will discover, that mentioned, examine the USA and China to youngsters on opposite ends of a seesaw on a playground, each represented with the aid of the scale of their economic climate. As late as 2004, China was once just 1/2 our measurement. By way of 2014, its GDP used to be equal to ours. And on the present trajectory, by way of 2024, it’ll be half of again greater. The consequences of this tectonic alternate will be felt far and wide. For example, within the current alternate clash, China is already the number one trading companion of all the most important Asian international locations.Which brings us again to our Greek historian. Harvard’s "Thucydides’s trap Case File" has reviewed the final 500 years of historical past and found sixteen cases in which a rising energy threatened to displace a ruling energy. Twelve of these led to battle. And the tragedy of this is that in only a few of these did both of the protagonists desire a war; few of these wars had been initiated through both the rising vigor or the ruling vigour. So how does this work? What happens is, a 3rd celebration’s provocation forces one or the opposite to react, and that sets in motion a spiral, which drags the 2 someplace they do not want to go. If that appears loopy, it is. However it’s lifestyles. Don’t forget World warfare I. The provocation if that’s the case used to be the assassination of a second-degree figure, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, which then led the Austro-Hungarian emperor to issue an ultimatum to Serbia, they dragged in the various allies, within two months, all of Europe used to be at warfare. So think if Thucydides had been watching planet Earth today. What would he say? Would he discover a extra proper main man for the ruling energy than Donald J Trump? (Laughter) Or a extra apt lead for the rising vigor than Xi Jinping? And he would scratch his head and definitely say he couldn’t feel of extra colourful provocateur than North Korea’s Kim Jong-un. Each appears determined to play his assigned part and is right on script. So in the end, we conclude again with probably the most consequential query, the question that will have the gravest consequences for the leisure of our lives: Are american citizens and chinese going to let the forces of historical past pressure us to a warfare that might be catastrophic for each? Or will we summon the imagination and braveness to be able to survive together, to share the leadership in the twenty first century, or, as Xi Jinping , to create a brand new form of exceptional vigour relations? That is the hassle i’ve been pursuing passionately for the final two years. I’ve had the opportunity to talk and, indeed, to listen to leaders of all the critical governments — Beijing, Washington, Seoul, Tokyo — and to thought leaders throughout the spectrum of each the humanities and industry.I desire I had extra to record. The excellent news is that leaders are increasingly aware of this Thucydidean dynamic and the risks that it poses. The unhealthy information is that no person has a possible plan for escaping historical past as typical. So it is clear to me that we’d like some recommendations external the field of traditional statecraft — certainly, from one other web page or yet another space — which is what brings me to TED at present and which brings me to a request. This viewers includes a few of the most creative minds on the earth, who rise up within the morning and believe not most effective about the right way to manipulate the world we have, however the right way to create worlds that must be. So i’m hopeful that as this sinks in and as you reflect on it, a few of you’re going to have some bold recommendations, in reality some wild suggestions, that once we in finding, will make a change on this area. And just to remind you when you do, this is not going to be the first time.Let me remind you of what occurred right after World battle II. A wonderful group of usa citizens and Europeans and others, not simply from government, however from the sector of tradition and business, engaged in a collective surge of creativeness. And what they imagined and what they created used to be a new international order, the order that’s allowed you and me to are living our lives, all of our lives, with out exceptional power struggle and with extra prosperity than was ever visible before on the planet. So, a notable story. Interestingly, every pillar of this challenge that produced these results, when first proposed, used to be rejected by using the international policy establishment as naive or unrealistic. My favorite is the Marshall Plan. After World battle II, american citizens felt exhausted. They had demobilized 10 million troops, they had been concerned about an pressing domestic agenda. However as humans started to admire how devastated Europe was once and the way aggressive Soviet communism was, american citizens ultimately determined to tax themselves a percent and a half of GDP every year for 4 years and ship that cash to Europe to aid reconstruct these nations, together with Germany and Italy, whose troops had just been killing american citizens. Robust. This additionally created the United international locations. Powerful. The common assertion of Human Rights. The world financial institution. NATO. All of those elements of an order for peace and prosperity. So, in a phrase, what we have got to do is do it again. And i feel now we want a surge of creativeness, creativity, instructed by means of historical past, for, because the thinker Santayana reminded us, eventually, best individuals who refuse to be taught history are condemned to repeat it. Thank you. (Applause) .

All US Presidents, Living and Dead, are War Criminals
Факты, которые подконтрольные ЦРУ СМ»И» в России скрывают...
“The US has caused the deaths of 20 to 30 million people since World War Two, a level of carnage approaching that inflicted on Europe by Hitler.”
BlackAgendaReport, Dec. 6, 2018
Especially at state funerals, media and politicians pretend that US presidents are honorable men, instead of the mass murderers that all of them become in office.
The daily whitewashing of imperial crimes on corporate media becomes high ceremony when a Genocider-in-Chief dies. George Herbert Walker Bush’s is canonized for bringing “ the greatness, hope, and opportunity of America to the world," in the words of the current CEO of Empire, Donald Trump. Former White House denizens Obama, Clinton and Carter also lauded the life and works of their accomplice in global predation, as did the son-of-a-Bush, George W., who wound up out-doing his daddy in mass murder.
Corporate news anchors absolve the dead leader of culpability for the mega-deaths inflicted on those countries targeted for invasion, drone strikes, regime change, proxy wars, or crippling economic sanctions -- as their colleagues sanitized those crimes while they were in progress. But the bodies keep piling up, “regimes” go “rogue,” meaning they disobey American dictat or otherwise get in the way of the imperial project, or run afoul of U.S. allies, as with the unfortunate Yemenis and Palestinians.
Whatever the human cost, it is “worth it,” as Clinton’s former Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright said of the half a million Iraqi children that died as a result of U.S. sanctions and the bombing of Iraqi infrastructure – carnage begun by Daddy Bush and continued by Bill Clinton, and then begun again with Bush Junior’s “Shock and Awe” demonstration of U.S. military might.
Obama got hundreds of thousands more Iraqis killed when he armed and trained head-chopping legions of Islamist jihadists to swarm the region in an attempted imperial comeback that has killed half a million Syrians, to date.
Most Americans would be shocked – or feign surprise -- if told that their country had caused the deaths of 20 to 30 million people since World War Two, a level of carnage approaching that inflicted on Europe by Hitler. But they do know the U.S. leaves dead bodies in its wake all around the planet. A nation born in genocide and slavery does not change its nature without undergoing a revolution, and the United States has not experienced such a transformation. At least half the U.S. population sees the death of millions of non-whites as “collateral damage” from America’s “civilizing mission” in the world: it’s “worth it.”
The oldest of the living former presidents, Jimmy Carter, contributed to the carnage in Angola and by backing fascist military regimes that slaughtered or disappeared hundreds of thousands in Latin America. He set in motion the U.S. alliance with al-Qaida. The creation of the first international network of Islamist jihadists, initially to force the Soviets out of Afghanistan, was the brainchild of Carter national security advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski. Tens of thousands of heads have rolled since then, thanks to Jimmy Carter.
Barack Obama added his own wars to the continuum of the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today. Obama said that his unprovoked attack on Libya was not a war, at all, because no Americans died, thus establishing a new doctrine and definition of warfare in which only U.S. deaths count. His secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, established new lows in diplomacy when she greeted news of Muammar Gaddafi’s death, cackling, “We came, we saw, he died” – which could be the said of all the tens of millions of deaths at the hands of U.S. presidents.
The current occupant, Donald Trump. will increase the body count before the next election season begins in earnest.

“Cally’s War”: It’s a Great Date With a Beautiful Women Who Murders You Bloodily at the End of the Night
Look, I like John Ringo books as much as the next guy, maybe more. I’ve read The Last Centurion at least a half-dozen times, and read “Dark Tide Rising” more times than that. I’ve read his “Monster Hunter Memoirs” entries (co-authored with Larry Correia) twice, even buying the pricey pre-release ebooks (“eARC”) from Baen because I was too impatient to wait for them to be officially published. I’ve read the “Legacy of the Aldenata” series through twice, and most of the rest of his stuff at least once. I haven’t read every single thing he’s ever written, but that’s due more to the “Oh, John Ringo, no!” factor of the “Paladin of Shadows” books than anything else. Other than that, I like the way he writes, okay?
Which is why the crappy ending to the “Cally’s War” trilogy (Cally’s War, Sister Time, and Honor of the Clan) is so painful.
We’re talking gargling molten glass painful. Getting hacked to pieces with a dull spoon painful. Falling feet first into a whirling metal Grinding Death Trap of Doom painful. We’re talking ATTENDING A JUSTIN BIEBER CONCERT painful.
Where to begin?
First off, the series itself is great. It’s basically an over-the-top secret agent trilogy, totally “unrealistic”, but loads of fun (in an id-driven John Ringo kind of way).
It’s the ending to the trilogy that’s the absolute worst. (Yes, Ringo Britta’d the ending.) It answers nothing, concludes nothing, and is thoroughly unsatisfying. It leaves a dozen questions begging for answers, a dozen plot threads dangling, a dozen loose ends flailing about. Frankly, the book is less a conclusion to a series than a lead-in to a fourth volume, one that WOULD tie up all those loose ends. Let’s list a few.
(Oh, and SPOILERS. Seriously. Major spoilers. Go read the books if you haven’t already. Heck, go read them anyway, just to be sure.)
What was happening with the Darhel alliance with the Himmit?
Was the ship the Bane Shidhe fled on lost due to this alliance?
What happened to JEB Stuart? He’s the most active antagonist, so why did he just disappear from the narrative?
And Michelle?
And Cally herself?
And what about all the Indowy refugees?
And the mine and other stuff in Panama?
Are they getting a slab back? Is the old Cally coming back?
What about the little girl of JEB’s? Recoverable or no?
Is there a future for the Maise kid?
What about the Children’s Negotiation? Are there any effects from that, bad or good?
Are the Galactic Bane Shidhe really run by a / the Darhel?
What effect does Mike slaying his clan leader and father, and a number of other “blood” relatives, have on their relationship with the Galactics?
Yup, that’s a baker’s dozen, and that’s just the highlights. But dangling plot threads are the least of the climax’s problems. The fact is, as a satisfying ending to a TRILOGY of novels, the climax of Honor of the Clan is absolutely abominable.
The original Aldenata stories (Hell’s Faire, et. al.) were about the alien Posleen invading Earth, then killing most of the planet (and eating them) before they were defeated. Most of the human deaths were a direct consequence of our alien allies, the Darhel, purposely screwing us over. “Cally’s War” is about getting back our own, through the machinations of an anti-Darhel secret society, the Bane Shidhe. Her clan, the O’Neals, are the primary Bane Shidhe forces on Earth.
In the end, the Darhel ruler of Earth (Tir Dol Ron, a being personally responsible for literally BILLIONS of human deaths) locates the Bane Shidhe home base and sends in some mercenaries to wipe it out. They get pasted. Then the Tir sends the hero of the original quadrilogy, Mike O’Neal, and the rest of his powered armor infantry unit in against his own father, his own daughter, and literally dozens of other close friends, blood relatives, and their kin. Whereupon O’Neal—the biggest hero of in the galaxy, a hero to humanity and several alien races—kills many of them, including his father, while the rest flee his wrath.
End of the novel.
Where do they flee to? Unknown. What happens next? Unknown. What about all the questions I asked above? Unknown.
A trilogy that is exclusively and specifically about fighting the Darhel, and their cat’s paws on Earth, ends with the good guys—literal family—killing each other, and the total defeat and ignominious retreat of the main character and the entire anti-Darhel rebellion. The chief bad guy? Gets off scott free.
As a dark, Empire Strikes Back middle, this is fine. Jarring and painful, but fine. As the last book in a trilogy, it’s DISASTROUS. Imagine if the “Star Wars” trilogy had ended with Luke accidentally and unknowingly shooting Han and killing him, and Leia disappearing off into the galaxy with the shattered remnants of the defeated Rebels, never to be seen again. No blowing up the Death Star 2, no victory on Endor, just the Rebels getting pasted all over the entire galaxy, being forced out of hiding, being killed en masse, and the protagonists (and the few remaining Rebels) disappearing. Forever. Oh, and the Emperor gets to keep on emperoring, as does Darth Vader.
Sounds like total crap, doesn’t it? Well, that’s what “Cally’s War” gives us.
Just to meet the minimal standards of a satisfying story, this book should have ended with a triumphant victory over evil (preferably involving the O’Neal’s getting to deploy their vastly increased prominence and resources in a satisfying manner) with Mike kicking a lot of ass, and Tir Dol Ron getting his comeuppance and probably meeting some kind of unpleasant and untraceable end, thus paying off plot points set in place from the very beginning of the series and handing fans a satisfying end to TDR’s involvement on Earth. Honor of the Clan should either have been that, or it should have lead into a fourth sequel where these things (or a close approximation of) happened.
Look, John Ringo writes by the seat of his id. (Reportedly.) He goes months without doing anything, then writes entire series in a few days of white hot unbound creativity. If his id ain’t talking, ain’t nothing happening. And I don’t know how he manages collaborations (“Cally’s War” was coauthored with Julie Cochrane). So he may not have had much control over how the trilogy ended.
Even so, the way this series trailed off into defeat and dispersal was unsatisfying in the extreme. Watch on the Rhine was grim, ugly, and depressing. (What do you expect from a novel about rejuved SS soldiers fighting the Posleen?) But at least they WON. After all the deaths, after the very personal loss of beloved family members, after the near total destruction of Europe, the defenders of humanity got their revenge against their enemies. And not just the Posleen, but the Darhel. They got their victory.
Was it too much to ask for the O’Neals to get the same thing?

Hit by Lightning: Tales From Survivors
By Lizette Alvarez, NY Times, July 18, 2017
PONCE INLET, Fla.--It was a drizzly, dark January morning but James Church grabbed his fishing pole and tackle box anyway, hopped in his Jeep and headed for the jetty, eager to get in some fishing as an antidote to a hard week of work.
Wearing his brown rubber waders and a yellow rain jacket to keep out the 6 a.m. cold, Mr. Church, 55, cast back his pole and let loose the line and sinker. He saw lightning on the horizon far away and felt safe. Then a bolt struck. He remembers a deafening boom and a flash so bright he felt his eyes burn. He woke up against a metal railing six feet away. Lying on his back, alone, in the dark, his body felt paralyzed. He knew he had to reach his cellphone to get help but it was locked in the tackle box.
“My will to survive kicked in,” Mr. Church said. “I needed to get moving instead of just lying there.”
In a state that counts alligators, sharks and hurricanes among its many dangers, add lightning. Florida has more lightning than any other state in the country (20.8 strikes per square mile) and the most people who die from lightning (54 since 2007--more than double that of the next state, Texas), according to the National Weather Service. This year, four people have died from lightning--two construction workers, a camper and the baby of a pregnant mother who was seriously harmed by a bolt; many more have been injured.
Lightning’s fondness for Florida stems from its location, climate (hot and humid) and topography: A peninsula, it stretches between two warm bodies of water, the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. This produces hot, wet air--a sea breeze--that rises over land.
“We have the best place in the country for thunderstorms,” said Martin A. Uman, a distinguished professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Florida and the author of “The Art and Science of Lightning Protection.” “It takes rising, hot, moist air to make thunderstorms.”
Unlike other states, Florida has all-season thunderstorms, which peak during summer. And it has an outsize number of year-round boaters, beachgoers, fishing enthusiasts and golfers--human lightning rods in wide, flat, open spaces. Lightning likes to strike the tallest thing around. Sometimes it’s a tree. Sometimes it’s a human.
While the odds of being hit are extremely low, lightning is unpredictable. It can lurk far from where you think danger lives. Floridians are trained to listen for thunder. The savvier among us know to count the seconds between seeing lightning and hearing a rumble (for every five seconds, the lightning is one mile away). But lightning defies those expectations. It can strike 10 miles away from a cloud.
Mr. Church said he couldn’t hear any thunder from the jetty. It was drizzling. And yet he got hit--hard. As he lay on his back in the dark on Jan. 7, Mr. Church, a martial arts teacher, tried to move but couldn’t--a common reaction to lightning. It short-circuits your body. After a time, he flipped himself onto his stomach but couldn’t get up. He felt a surge of liquid pour out of his belly. Blood.
Then he slowly crawled to his tackle box and tried to open it. That’s when he noticed two of his fingers--the right ring finger and pinkie--were almost entirely gone. He used his thumbs to snap it open, grabbed his phone and called 911.
“I just got hit by lightning,” he told the 911 operator. “I lost two fingers. They are completely gone,” he added later between moans. “Everything is starting to hurt a little bit now.”
Mr. Church was lucky: the lightning missed his heart. Most people hit by lightning die because their hearts stop. But it still left lasting damage. The lightning hit his fishing pole and exploded the metal sinker toward his face. Because he was resting the pole near his right hip, the force of the lightning shoved it into his stomach. His elbow had been against his hip so the current traveled there and along his forearm. It left his body through his two fingers.
He spent nine hours in surgery. Doctors cut open his stomach and took out half of his small and large intestines, which had been burned and damaged. Then they sewed up his fingers. His stomach, arm and wrist still have burn marks. His rain jacket was shredded. His eardrums had burst.
Six months later, he said he made it a point to enjoy life just a little more, even though, with no insurance, he is still paying his medical bills, and storms can easily spook him. He takes weekends off, and hangs with his grandchildren. “I just pay attention to life more,” he said.
Dr. Mary Ann Cooper, a professor emerita at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and an expert on lightning injuries, said lightning can cause a wide range of damage, from tingling and numbness to cardiac arrest and lasting brain injury. About two-thirds of people lose consciousness, she said. Fewer than half suffer marks on their skin. And most are hurt by electricity as the current travels through the ground. The Weather Service estimates only 10 percent of those hit by lightning die.
It’s not a club anyone wants to join, but survivors often crave one another’s company. This gave rise to Lightning Strike & Electric Shock Survivors International, which has members from around the United States and in 13 countries.
Brad Sussman’s lightning bolt was forged in irony. “I knew everything about lightning,” he said. That’s because he was chief meteorologist at a Jacksonville station and sat on the county’s lightning safety board back then, in the early 1990s.
One afternoon, rain was pounding his house and Mr. Sussman saw an open window on the screened porch. He walked over to the metal window frame and put his right hand on it. Next thing he knew, he was flat on his back 18 feet away.
“My 2½-year-old son says, ‘Daddy, that was funny. Do that again,’” said Mr. Sussman, who now sells insurance in Cleveland. Mr. Sussman was speechless; he literally couldn’t talk. A neighbor heard the boom and walked into the house. “How could I be struck by lightning?” Mr. Sussman told him. “I’m a meteorologist.”
The evidence was on the porch roof: a burned hole. The lightning had traveled across to the window frame. Mr. Sussman walked away with only a small burn on his right shoulder blade, a loopy feeling for a couple of hours and more respect for lightning. “When lightning strikes nearby,” he said, “wow, do I get scared.”
