I’ve been shooting with the very impressive and innovative Uniqball head and tripod. Very quick to set level and then have the full pan and tilt motion, using an inner ball. I’ll be posting a full review in due course, but if you’re looking for a superb new ball head, I can highly recommend this. As I was looking through the rushes at the end of today’s shoot with my Lumix S1, it struck me just how much easier things have become. Astonishing visual quality, 4K, beautiful and natural colour science all married to phenomenal audio quality. Being able to plug in two XLR inputs is a dream! It reminded me of the struggles with DSLR video, lack of control and having to record audio separately to then sync in post. Nightmare! Now, I can just concentrate on the shoot and then the editing. Last picture of 2020? Was in the mood to create something and sadly in lockdown, only had myself to try my new Ringflash on! A bit of a creative self portrait using my Lumix S1R and Lumix S Pro 24-70mm f2.8. Lit with an Elinchrom RQ Ringflash ECO, powered by Elinchrom Quadra Ranger. Camera mounted on my Uniqball tripod and operated on WiFi using my iPhone and Lumix Sync app. Exposure: f9.0, 6 seconds shutter speed at 100 ISO. Raw files downloaded to my Gnarbox 2.0 and edited on my Apple iPad Pro.
