We had a great time in Montreal and leaned a lot about old Montreal and European/Canadian history in general, but wanted to make sure we also learned about the rich diversity of #montreal. Was sooo excited that we got to see @unionunitedchurch_mtl which is one of the oldest black Churches in Canada. This church has earned its place in history. It's where Marcus Garvey came to plan the repatriation of black Americans to Africa. It was also the place where black porters on the Canadian railway could worship and raise their families. #oscarpeterson one of the greatest pianists ever- learned to play here and also taught piano lessons to kids at this church. Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu have also visited the church.
