a couple years ago for my senior english project we had to make poetry collections. i can't find it anywhere online, but one of my favorite poems was by Naomi Shihab Nye for her father, a Palestinian refugee.

I didn't know anything about Palestine back then but now I know.

#realizing the name Shihab is Palestinian reminds me of when I saw a few gofundmes for people named Bilal and thinking #'wait isnt that the name of that actor?' and realizing he's Palestinian too #and finding out about his one-man show about Palestine #and just. suddenly realizing what i already know logically.
