OPEN HEART: SECOND YEAR CHAPTER 12
I have already written this post but Tumblr had the audacity to delete it. So here we go again
The first exchange between Mc and Ethan in the hospital was adorable. Since Ethan opened up to us in the last chapter we have seen a WHOLE different side to Ethan and I love it. When the heart rate monitor started accelerating because Mc and Ethan were talking, I DIED. It just goes to show how powerful their love is. “It’s okay if you need more time”, this man is really out here trying to kill me for the 500th time.
Rafael stans were spoilt today. I know they didn’t get the chance to have a 30 diamond scene with him (at least I don’t think they did). Considering the fact only a few chapters ago he was meant to be abandoning everyone to move to Brazil or somewhere like that, I think they did well today. Raf’s grandma is one of the best characters introduced into Open Heart (behind our angel Bobby obviously). She is your typical grandparent with the array of food and drink and the embarrassed grand child XD. When she said that we saved her beautiful boy and then Mc replied that they saved eachother, I understood why so many people romance him because that was adorable. Mc and Rafael’s friendship has to be one of my favourites they are so sweet with each other. Unfortunately, I was an idiot and didn’t buy the diamond scene. The only reason I didn’t get it was because it was so early in the chapter and I didn’t know what other content we were going to get. I will probably replay it and buy the diamond scene but let me know what happened during the walk.
Mc getting ready for the memorial was so sad. I thought our landlord Farley sending flowers was so so sweet. I have got to say that I LOVED the diamond dress that was on offer. Obviously, I had to get it because I had to look good for our boys on their day. I have got to give all the credit to @playchoices because I think they did an unbelievable job with the memorial. They really gave Bobby and Danny a funeral fit for kings!
The first screenshot broke me. The caskets with the boys in and the flowers on top, I miss them already. To make it even more sad, I had ‘Hold On’ by Chord Street on in the background and if you have listened to that song you know how bad that combination is. Bryce telling the story about them was so heartwarming and one of the many reasons we all love Bryce whether you are romancing him or not. That boy is an angel. Our poor baby Elijah really struggled during the ceremony and all I wanted to do was give him a big hug. He deserves the world and we must protect him at ALL costs. Him saying he has been to ‘too many of these’ was so so sad, I feel like we deserve more of his backstory because I have a feeling it is a lot worse than we originally thought. I know that this sounds heartless but I do want to mention how amazing all the men looked in their suits. Especially Ethan, this man rocks anything and everything. Laying the orchids on their caskets, made me sob. I don’t even know why their memorials hurt me so bad.
Daniel Cardinal and Robert Gunderson. We will miss you. ❤️
Ok, I just want to say that I thought that Mc and Aurora discussing the hospitals finances during the reception was kinda rude and disrespectful. I know it was probably key in the development of the story but it would have been nicer to hear stories about the boys rather than Edenbrook and Mass Kenmore. But anyway, the conversation between Sienna and Mc was so cute but so heartbreaking. When she started saying that she always thought her and Danny would become something more, I broke down. This girl deserves happiness so much especially after her ex. And Danny was that happiness but unfortunately she will never be able to experience that relationship 😞.
Ethan looking into our literal soul was very sexy if I do say so myself. The way he can just look at Mc and know exactly what she is thinking just goes to show how powerful their relationship is.And then this man had the audacity to raise his hand in our face to silence us. I didn’t know if I wanted to slap him or marry him right there and then. Did anyone else have that issue? Just me? Ok.
One thing I loved about this episode is the choice between who you wanted to leave with and the fact it wasn’t a diamond scene. This is what we like to see. I chose Ethan because... well I don’t think I need to explain why. Just so you all know he was going to leave an hour before but didn’t because Mc was still there. if that isn’t true love, then what is.
Ethan is not ok people. When he started to explain that he was scared to leave Mc alone incase he wasn’t there to save her, my jaw dropped. He has never opened up THAT much before. I thought I was ready for it but then me tell you I was not. I know that countless times during this scene he wanted to say that he was in love with Mc but wasn’t ready. Honestly, I am ok with that. For now. I feel like we should wait a little longer (emphasis on the little) for a more sentimental moemnt. Like on our first date or even in the hospital where they first met. I have a feeling that he is just going to end up saying it without thinking about it, like a reflex and I wouldn’t mind that happening either.
Finally, we move onto the diamond scene. This was the best 30 diamond scene we have had with Ethan. It was unbelievable. “The idea that I’d never touch you again... it was almost more than I could bear”. I am not even going to comment on that quote because it explains itself. Just know that I did indeed scream. Like actually scream. We got a glimpse of angry Ethan which so happens to be my second favourite Ethan after cute Ethan. Him being angry because he didn’t want people thinking Mc slept her way onto the diagnostics team shows how much he respects her career. Get you a man that respects both you and your job. The freaking windows steamed up. The power can not be matched. So I did choose the option to straddle him but let me tell you I did not choose that lightly. I was so close to picking the option of going into the back seat. “Trust me, I have many more tricks up my sleeve”, bitch I am not READY for the other 30 diamond scenes we better be receiving. Obviously, I don’t need to go into TOO much detail because we all know what happened, if you actually played the scene. Just know it was a great experience.
To make the experience better ( if that is even possible ). I chose the option that led to Ethan begging. Yes, you heard that right. BEGGING. I feel so evil yet so good at the same time 😋. Again I would like to personally thank @playchoices for that 30 diamond scene. It was unforgettable. But let’s be real, we deserve it after what we have been through.
I don’t remember Farley being this sweet but that man is so cute. I hope that everything works out for him at hospital. But I am excited/nervous to see how the memories and PTSD of the attack impacts Mc going back to the hospital. One thing that makes me less nervous is knowing my man Ethan will be there to support me. I know he said that at work he is still our boss but like just imagine how cute the scenes will be between them now. Ugh, imagine them meeting up after a long shift and walking out of the hospital hand in hand. Can’t freaking wait.
This chapter again was so so well written, I hope Choices keep up with this quality because it’s been amazing. I’m praying that they don’t forget to mention Danny and Bobby though, especially after a few chapters. I hope they remember to give them mentions because they were big infuences on Edenbrook and they don’t deserve to be forgotten. I just want to add that I am sorry that this is late, like I said before I had already written this and had it ready to post but then Tumblr did a mad one and deleted it. I am sorry if it seems rushed or I have forgotten something but I tried XD. As usual let me know your opinions and feelings about the new chapter and thank you so much for all the recent love on my posts. I am unbelievably grateful! ❤️

"You Come Near My Wife Again, I'll Kill You!"
Thursday 18th February 2021
Hello again everyone! How are we all? After this post I will finally be up to date, I apologise how long it's taken me, but I'm happy to be able to catch up and review Thursday's episode!
Wow!!! This was episode was absolutely brilliant, everyone was kind of involved with each other in one way or another, it was as if everything and everyone entwined to get to this big moment! The first thing I'm going to focus on is Martin, Kush, Ruby and Stacey! After Iqra dropped the bombshell on Martin, informing him that Ruby was the brains behind the robbery at the Minute Mart, causing him to get attacked, he approaches his best friend, Kush, asking for his opinion and his advice. Could Ruby really be to blame? I guess it's understandable for Martin to find it hard to believe that his new wife could be to blame, however we and of course Kush knows more about Ruby than he's letting on. Kush suggests that Martin should just ask his new wife straight out, but Martin fears that if he was wrong, things will go down the path of another divorce and a broken family. (Although, when he finds out the truth, it's going to come to that anyway, right?) He tries his absolute best to convince himself that Iqra had got her facts wrong.
However, Kush only knows too well what Ruby is capable of. In need of searching for some more advice, Kush leans on Stacey, informing her about what Martin has revealed to him. But the most interesting thing is that Kush finally reveals to her that Ruby actually gave him money to run away with Arthur. Stacey, at first, can't seem to understand why Ruby would want to mess with her family and take away her child, but eventually it all makes sense! Ruby is jealous of Stacey's past with Martin and is desperate to have him all to herself! But she's done some really terrible things to get what she wants, even paying someone to attack Stacey in the streets! Stacey even suspects that Ruby could even be lying about being pregnant, as there still hasn't been any physical evidence of a pregnancy. So, instead of Kush having to worry about breaking up his friend's marriage, Stacey is adamant that she's going to reveal all of Ruby's lies to Martin and make him see what kind of person he's married!
As Martin returns to see his wife at work, she drops a huge hint that she has taken the afternoon off so they could have some "Fun" together, seductively wiping the paper off of her office desk. But unfortunately for Ruby, it's clear to see that Martin clearly isn't interested in getting intimate with his wife, especially after the accusations he's heard about her. Ruby can't seem to understand his reluctance, but he simply states that he's not in the mood. It seems as if every time Ruby has some alone time with her husband, she's wanting to get intimate, is this truly some kind of pregnancy hormone she has or, as we've been speculating, is she really not pregnant and is desperate to make her lie become the truth?!
--
Okay so this is where things are going to get interesting, before we delve into the fiasco regarding Phil, Max, and Mick, I just want to mention the little friendship blossoming between Sharon and Jean! I absolutely love it! I don't think we've ever seen these two be so pally, but it looks as if Jean has actually been there for Sharon, giving her advice on Phil. At first, she claimed that she believed that Sharon and Phil belonged together, almost getting Sharon's hope up that she might be able to rekindle her romance with him. However, when that didn't go to plan, Jean was there to once again be a friend and state to Sharon that she is a Queen and she could have any man she wanted, although there doesn't seem to be anyone else she's interested in. So, to cheer her up, Jean suggests having some chocolate - of course, chocolate always makes people happy! But when the go to the Minute Mart, Jean realises she's only 20p short and Suki is unwilling to let it slide, even though they offer to give it to her another time. As Jean looks visibly upset to leave the chocolate behind, Sharon quickly suggest that they be like Thelma and Louisa and nick the chocolate, stuffing the goodies up their tops! I just love how they both act like giggly school girls together, causing trouble. Not that I condone shop-lifting, but I just loved this moment between Jean and Sharon, I hope this won't just be a brief friendship, I do hope that this friendship blossoms and becomes something solid, what do you guys think?
Unfortunately, it looks as if Sharon's romance with Phil may have fizzled out and in Phil's eyes, be over. Phil seems to be enjoying some steamy time with Kat, what do you guys make of this pairing? I mean, it wasn't too long ago they were at each other's necks about money regarding their robbery attempt, now they're sleeping together! Crazy?! But as much as it appears to be a bit of fun right now, do you think it may lead to something more serious? After spending another night with Kat, he seems to realise that his deadline for Max is slowly coming to an end. Knowing that it's going to be difficult to get Sharon to sign the papers over, he takes a visit to Max, informing that he needs more time. But Max is having none of it and warns that if the Queen Vic papers aren't signed over to the Carter's by the end of the day, he will take the memory stick he has of all Phil's criminal history to the police!
--
Before his confrontation with Phil, Max was on the street of Walford, of course he was looking for Linda, but he ended up bumping into Stacey. I have to mention this brief interaction, as Stacey states that it had been 11 years since Bradley's death! I can't even begin to believe it's been that long the soap has been without Bradley, I have to be honest though, it makes me happy that still after all this time, they still mention his name. He hasn't been forgotten! There are some deaths that you do forget about, but the likes of Pat, Peggy, Ronnie, Roxy, Danielle, Barry, Jamie - you just don't forget and Bradley is one of them too! I also loved the fact that after all this time, Stacey still holds a photograph of him in her purse. I don't know about you guys but I feel that Bradley will always be her one true love! She questions whether Max had remembered the day, but admits he tries not to think about it as it hurts too much. It's then he clocks Linda and hurries to catch her, he claims that he understands why she chose Mick over him to which she is a little confused, but he informs her that he actually knows the full reason why. To her shock, Linda is absolutely devastated and is desperate to know how he found out the truth about Mick, Max admits he found out through Jack.
Now this is the biggest mistake he could've done! Informing Linda the truth, Jack arrives back at the house after Max has had his confrontation with Phil. Jack informs him that he knows that Max has spoken to Linda, because it's all turned back on him. Linda went to the police station and complained and now it's caused Jack to be suspended and potentially lose his job! Because of Max's selfish acts once again, he's put his brother's job in jeopardy! In an attempt to try and do the right thing, Jack decides to apologise to Mick, even though he's completely unaware that they know about his past. But this is where it all kicks off! Jack fully admits that he told Max about Mick's past, but the only reason Jack found out was plainly innocent, seeing him at the police station. This information get's a bit too much for Mick and he knows he has to confront Max once and for all!
--
Whilst all this happening, Phil takes it upon himself to visit Sharon at the Vic. He informs her that she basically has no choice in selling the Vic over to the Carter's. As much as it hurts her and she's adamant she doesn't want to leave, Phil questions whether she is really really happy living there, I guess you could say it is emotional blackmail, but Phil is desperate to get himself out of trouble. He asks her if she had any feeling left for him, he would do as he's asking, otherwise he's going to end up in prison! Phil informs her that Max has something dirty on him and if he was to hand it into the police, not just Phil, but possibly Sharon would be done for! He promises that even if the Vic gets back into the Carter's hands, he'll make sure Sharon is looked after and provided for.
Finally it all comes to this point as everyone gathers in the Vic, Max walks in waiting to hear news from Phil, eventually Phil comes down and informs him that they have a deal, Sharon is willing to sign the Queen Vic over back to Mick and Linda. In exchange, Max willingly hands over the memory stick. However, Max's smug face doesn't last for long as Mick and Linda both enter the Vic and approach him. Max acknowledges them and informs them that he has good news, but Mick isn't interested in hearing it. He warns Max just simply stay away from his wife. But Max just doesn't seem to listen does he? He kind of oversteps the mark here, he claims the only reason why Linda is still with him, is out of pity! Mick only responds by giving Max a good punch in the face, making him fly across the room and collapsing in a booth! I also have to state I don't condone violence, but Max had it coming really didn't he?!
Overall a brilliant episode, I loved how everything linked and came together! Brilliant script writing and amazing performances from everyone involved. Jake Wood, Danny Dyer, Steve McFadden, Scott Maslen - everyone! I apologise for this post being late, but I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I've enjoyed writing it! I'll be back again tomorrow following Friday's episode! Enjoy the rest of your day folks! Love you all xXx

JEAN AND HER BROTHERS - My Review of THE MEYEROWITZ STORIES - NEW AND SELECTED (4 Stars)
I love Noah Baumbach’s work. He’s like Woody Allen before things got creepy. Yes, he has pretty much carried the torch for a whites only, middle class New York, but he has demonstrated such a good ear for how people really talk, and a true artistry has slowly crept into his films. His latest film, THE MEYEROWITZ STORIES (NEW AND SELECTED), which opened in select theaters October 13th and is also currently streaming on Netflix, may seem on the surface like the successor to HANNAH AND HER SISTERS, but displays its own unique rhythms and it’s own voice. It also has a group of actors doing some of their finest work.
The film opens on Danny Meyerowitz (Adam Sandler) trying to find a parking space in Manhattan. Next to him is his daughter Eliza (a lovely Grace Van Patten of the famous EIGHT IS ENOUGH/NATURAL BALANCE DOG FOOD dynasty), who shows a deep love for her father despite his agitated state. Their bond feels real, the kind that allows for losing your shit and knowing the other person has your back.
With Eliza off to college, Danny, always a little unlucky when it comes to financial success, plans on moving in with his aging artist Harold (Dustin Hoffman) and hard-drinking, hippie step-mother Maureen (Emma Thompson). Trouble is, Harold and Maureen, are considering selling their apartment and moving to their country house. I know, I know. Champagne problems. But Baumbach has a way of making you care, mostly because of Sandler being so attuned to his character’s desperation.
It’s not all rosy anyhow. Harold isn’t getting any younger and can’t help but compare his lackluster career to that of his old and wildly successful rival (Judd Hirsch, hilarious and spot-on as an artist of a certain age who tries to pull off a knit cap and hoodie). Complicating matters is Danny’s brother Matthew (Ben Stiller), who has found success as a financial manager and escaped his clan by moving to LA. Despite his distance, he remains Harold’s favorite. They also have a sister Jean, HOUSE OF CARDS’ Elizabeth Marvel, who completely disappears into her role of the child who can’t stand out in a family of such outgoing personalities. The Meyerowitz’s gather periodically as an art show and an illness form the loose storyline, but the crux of the movie is the fissures in the relationships. Told in loose chapters, switching points of view, the film builds and coalesces into a complete and touching tale of the bonds that see us through the toughest of times.
As such, each leading actor gets their chance to shine, with Sandler doing the best work of his career. Obviously it’s been a long time since he’s been broke, but he mines the depths of his character so beautifully, you’re convinced he’s held on to that feeling all this time. From his aching gait to his quick anger, quiet resentments, and deep affection, his Danny has me convinced he should just stop making his big, broad comedies and from here on out show us the great actor he’s been all along in such films as PUNCH-DRUNK LOVE, FUNNY PEOPLE, THE WEDDING SINGER, and now this film. Ben Stiller, coming off of his great performance in BRAD’S STATUS, does great work here as well, especially during a gut-punching speech late in the film. An early scene in which he futilely resists getting sucked into his father’s spiral of social slights gets such careful attention and precision from Stiller, Baumbach and Hoffman. In the end, you’re convinced there’s no escaping that we all become our parents.
Now about those parents. Dustin Hoffman! Welcome back! It’s been a while since he’s been given the opportunity to really chew on a role, and he does not miss the chance. His Harold, who clearly never listens to anybody except his own delusional inner voice, is one of the true standout roles of 2017. Hoffman reminded me of Laurie Simmons, Lena Dunham’s mother, in TINY FURNITURE, with his portrait of self-absorbed narcissism. Baumbach, while still creating his touching moments, doesn’t go all soft and gooey with Hoffman. His Harold remains headstrong and not particularly likable throughout, and as moviegoers, we’re all the better for it. Unfortunately, I thought Emma Thompson was wildly miscast. With her accent going in and out and her wig always looking like a wig, she played surface neurosis and never seemed to get a grasp of what she’s doing. It’s as if she always wanted to be in a Woody Allen movie and do some Mia Farrow schtick, but didn’t quite know how to deliver it. She’s not terrible, but to me, the performance fell flat.
Another minor misstep is what short shrift Elizabeth Marvel gets in the film. Yes, she’s written as the forgotten one, and she even gets her own chapter, but, because she’s just so damn good and can go toe-to-toe with her fellow actors, I would have loved a little more. Same goes for Candice Bergen in a too-short but effective cameo.
Special mention must go to Jennifer Lame’s editing. She cuts out of some scenes mid-sentence, perfectly complimenting the unstable drama onscreen, and in one jaw-dropping moment, uses multiple jump cuts and a quiet hush as Sandler looks dead into the camera. Her style keeps the film from feeling like a shaggy Woody Allen knockoff and goes a long way towards raising the artistic stakes.
All told, I really liked this film a lot, despite its lack of diversity. Baumbach clearly knows the world he writes about and can find empathy even with the more compromised characters he writes. The fact that he wrote an entire scene around a rude person in a restaurant who keeps leaving his empties on an occupied table gave me the sense that he’s got a perfect sense of the little crimes people commit on a daily basis. We need Baumbach and he’s operating in his own little lane. You don’t have to be Jewish to love this film…but as the saying goes…it wouldn’t hurt.
