Exhausted, Papyrus fell on his knees in the dust. It was covering everything in the room, from the floor to the ceiling. The main door was gone, like most of the windows. Thankfully, no monster tried to enter the balcony, too high. Papyrus crawled to pick up the door, still in one piece by some miracle, and put it in its place. The hinges were gone with a part of the wall, but he forced it to hold by nailing it with some planks that held the windows closed and was now on the floor.

He picked up his phone, hidden deep in his armor. His hands were still shaking with the adrenaline. Sans left about twenty messages, asking if he was fine, then warning him Frisk was gone, then asking him again if he was alright, more and more distressed as the hours went by.

Papyrus simply sent: "Alive. Frisk here." before walking to the kitchen to make sure the child was fine. Several bullets ricocheted against the closet door, but it faced the brunt efficiently. He cleared the chairs out of the way and opened the door, maybe too brutally.

Frisk screamed out of terror and threw themselves in the back of the cabinet. They curled up on themselves, hands on the head, sobbing uncontrollably. They were shaking as well.

Papyrus flinched. He saw himself at five years old, in the same position, as Sans was screaming and fighting for their lives in the living room. This was not a world to grow up. No child should ever be born in this hellish place. Bitter, he felt his soul squeezed painfully. It was his fault. He should have brought the child back to the Ruins. Frisk shouldn't have assisted to any of this.

The skeleton kneeled at their level. He never had been really talented to comfort people.

"Frisk? It's over, they're gone. You can come out."

He leaned a hand towards the human. Frisk kicked it away and tried to get as far as they could from him in the closet. Papyrus tried to stay neutral, but his face betrayed for a few seconds how much it hurt him. He didn't want Frisk to be scared of him. Not after everything they went through to protect them.

The skeleton looked around for a second and noticed a hole in the closet door. Small, but enough for a child to witness everything that happened outside. Frisk saw him slaughter attackers and end monsters on the floor without mercy. Papyrus felt guilty. He gave the child some space and sat in front of the closet, unsure what to do.

Hello, hello!

I commissioned this masterpiece to @seirindono, a French (yeah, team French!) illustrator who works on a multi AU universe called The Missing Scarf, which is a banger. Really cool comic with lots of great characters that you really want to read. Go read it!

I wasn't sure on which fic I wanted a drawing at first, but since we already got one for Horrortale: Rotten Apple (thanks again Zeragii, love you), why not No Weakness?

It's a post-pacific Underfell fic where instead of breaking the Barrier, Sans refused Frisk to fight Asgore and brought them back in safety to Toriel. Now Papyrus, Undyne, Alphys, Mettaton, Toriel and Sans are hiding the child away, trying not to get killed.

The story however is about Undyne and Papyrus' friendship. After Papyrus surprises Undyne kissing Asgore, he is promoted to general of the Royal Guard. Except Papyrus knows something is really wrong here, since that role was obviously supposed to Undyne's. But the more he tries to understand, the more people try to dissuade him from learning more. All the hints lead to Asgore, but how to reach the monarch without getting himself killed, and by extension, those he cares the most about? Between his duty and his friendship, Papyrus will have to make a choice.

I asked for one of my favorite parts ever, which is the moment Frisk realizes how things really work in Underfell, after witnessing Papyrus committing carnage right after he got promoted to General. It's tradition :D

HOW DOES ALPHYNE (ALPHYS AND UNDYNE) WORK IN UNDERFELL? HOW DO THEY TREAT EACH OTHER? IS IT LIKE ALPHYNE FROM CLASSIC UNDERTALE?

They are already together right off the bat because Alphys is more confrontational in UF. I feel as though her fault might be that she lacks a LOT of compassion. She’s possibly apathetic towards everything and everyone that surrounds her, even Undyne at times because she drowns in her work and forgets she’s in love. She doesn’t see the stakes at risk until it’s too late.

They love each other very much (despite it all). They don’t really live with each other. Normally it’s them visiting one another every so often. They’re both always busy with their work, but I’d like to imagine they text each other a lot. Send each other flowers and gifts they think the other would enjoy. Kisses on letters. Make the most out of dates. Probably make a note to not talk about work.

no matter the route they end up getting engaged. The HOW they get engaged is a completely different story. It can be in the middle of the route or the end of the route. I still have an idea of this alphyne comic I want to make for one of the routes .

Sky is the one holding the mistletoe since he knows Honey would be way too embarrassed to do it.

He's definitely only following the tradition in a private place, totally not because he becomes almost clued to your side after some smooches.

Oh well, seems like you two have to kiss now, hand over that pretty face darlin'.

Of course Cash is a bastard and won't give you a proper kiss, only a quick smooch on the lips is enough for him.

You can see him laughing while walking away, giving you a wink before turning to eat food on the table, he's not paying for it so who cares?

Rus

Mm great, now he has a reason to kiss you.

Rus was already bent down holding a mistletoe in the air before you knew it.

Hot take, I don't like the Xtale Frisk X Muffet ship because it's basically Fran's but less popular. 

So a while back Jakie released a post (https://jakei95.tumblr.com/post/753964540646014976/this-will-be-the-last-update-about-the-accusations) apologizing and explaining a bunch of drama and problems that occurred within the fandom that included her. One of those things she addresed was the Frisk X Muffet ship, and I have to say her explanation of this doesn't cut it. Her reasoning for this is that we don't really know if Muffet is an actual adult in Canon undertale and the relationship between XFrisk and XMuffet are both consenting adults in an AU so it's okay. But… it’s not. After looking into it, I can say is that most likely Muffet is not a child and it’s not okay to ship her Xtale counterpart with Xtale Frisk.

Starting off with what we know about Muffet is that she wasn't a character made by Toby Fox nor Temmy Chang but rather the OC of a person who contributed enough money to undertale kickstarter to have it put into the game as a fight. Muffet runs a full blown business, wearing snazzy clothing with outrageous prices on her food and also hates anyone who she deems doesn't like spiders, going so as to imply that she would have killed alphys for annoying her by warning her to evacuate during the neutral going on genocide run. All in all she's a pretty interesting character and her song’s an absolute banger.

What does this have to do with the Frisk X Muffet ship?  Well what we do know about monster culture is that all children wear striped shirts, a call back to Earthbound (In which undertale was inspired by). In the pacific and some neutral runs you can get a dialogue from monster kid within Snowdin where they talk to Frisk and say that they must be a kid like them because they’re wearing a striped shirt. This supports the idea that in Monster culture, all children wear striped shirts. This is further supported by the fact that all the child characters that we see with the underground are wearing striped shirts. Monster kid and Asriel have striped shirts and Chara who is adopted by monsterkind is wearing a striped shirt, heck they were wearing one when they fell into the underground and so was Frisk so maybe it’s a universal thing.  

Muffet, on the other hand, is never shown wearing a striped shirt. Now, you could chalk this up to Muffet being an OC that wasn't created by Toby so she would be an exception to this, but you'd think that since she’s believed to be a child by some that she would have some sort of dialogue implying that she was a kid. Fox never skips out on details, so I would expect that if Muffet was a child character she would say something like “oh ho ho ho, I use to have a striped shirt like you, but I got rid of it because it blended to well with my spiders and I was afraid they might get squashed because of it.” but instead she acts like Mr Krabs without the two extra legs and is willing to cannibalize monsters & has with her spiders.

Others also try to use the excuse that she's short therefore she must be a child, but there are two other characters that are adults who are also around the same size as Frisk, those being Sans and Alphys. They both, just like Muffet, have jobs like an adult would. Sans has three- doing stand-up comedy at the MTT Hotel, running multiple food stands throughout the underground, and of course being a sentry. Alphys on the other hand is the Royal scientist. It’s obvious both of them are adults despite there short stature. I mean alphy’s is dating undyne for goodness sake and Toriel tells her when she's about to kiss undyne at the end of true pacifist run that there are children present, not that Alphys is a child. It's also implied that Sans & Alphys know each other through being scientists, so neither of them can be children. We know that Papyrus is obvious adult and Sans is his older brother so of course Sans is an adult too ( and it generally freaks me out that some people try and rationalize saying Sans isn't an adult because of his short stature just so they can ship him with Frisk)

Muffet has a job just like these guys (which no other child does) and never in her dialogue does it imply that she’s a child nor does it ever within canon. Just because it’s never outright stated in the game doesn’t mean that it’s not canon. It’s like how people try to rationalize that sans is a child (cuz he's short) despite all the signs saying he isn’t within the game. 

Now, some people like Jakie may say that since Xtale is an Alternate universe that has both Muffet and Frisk the same age, it’s chill to ship them.

They are w r o n g

Take the ship frans (frisk x sans). Some people try to get around its pedophilic nature by aging frisk up (example sooner or later you'll be mine). This is still really really gross because at the core- it’s a pedophilic ship. You are taking a canon child character and matching them with an adult, then aging the child up like it’s a loophole that “doges” how it’s pedophilic. Lemme repeat that. YOU. yes YOU are taking a canon CHILD and making them be ROMANTICALLY INVOLVED with an ADULT which is a PEDOPHILIC RELATIONSHIP, and you trying and remove its roots by aging them up STILL MAKES IT GROSS. If you are so desperate to ship sans or an adult with someone- MAKE AN OC. 

This reminds me of the ship Xvial which is xgaster X ink (ignoring the fact that both are aroace) with people trying to rationalize that since ink doesn’t have a bio dad that’s a gaster and technically Xgaster isn’t cross and XPapyrus’s bio dad it’s okay to ship them. NO NO IT'S NO GUYS PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS I'M BEGGING YOU. Ink had TWO dads that are gaster’s and although they aren’t bio related to him THEY’RE STILL HIS PARENTS and cross + XPapyrus see XGaster as a parent. That’s not even mentioning the fact that Xgaster was also emotionally and physically (implied) abusive to them so SHIPPING XVIALS IS GROSS. It’s like incest but with extra steps, and why would Ink date someone they know to have been heavily abusive and manipulative to his friend and their family? The people who ship this are waving a major red flag, one filled with the hole of loophole’s they try to exploit to make this ship normal.

Back on topic, It’s the same principle with Xtale Frisk and Muffet. Frisk in canon undertale is a child while Muffet is an Adult. Although their Xtale counterpart’s may not know this nor do they show it, the creator of xtale (Jakei) DOES. 

THAT MAKES IT NASTY.

The only reason why there isn't a big uproar in the fandom about this is because Muffet isn’t as popular as Sans. But if Jakei had shipped sans with frisk when she began writing Xtale/underverse- most people by today would have had absolutely no tolerance for that crap and she’d be shunned by a larger part of the fandom. 

The fact that Jakei tries to defend this leaves a sour taste in my mouth because you'd have to be either blind or doing mental gymnastics in order to defend it. Like dude it is OBVIOUS. I’m not sure if Jakei is aware that Muffet was an OC which might explain why she thought she was a child, but everything about Muffet points towards her being an adult, just being a less popular character. A pedophilic ship is still a pedophilic ship if you have to age up a character so it wouldn’t be called that.

Needless to say- unless toby fox himself descends down from his chair and says that Muffet is a child or some canon info disproves my conclusion- the ship is gross and I don’t want to deal with anyone who ships it (the same goes for xVials).  -Cheesey thoughts anon

The stars shimmer softly above, casting a gentle glow over the empty picnic spot. The last of the laughter had faded, and the quiet hum of the night settled around you.

The day had been loud—filled with chatter and cheerful chaos. Papyrus and Undyne’s friendly bickering echoed over the hill as they teased each other about their sparring match, Alphys trying (and only half-succeeding) to wrangle Frisk into helping with an experiment that’d apparently gone awry, Toriel chiding Asgore over a mix-up with the picnic basket.

But they've all gone home, leaving you with only the soft sounds of the night and the gentle presence of Sans beside you.

He leans back on the blanket, hands tucked behind his head, staring up at the stars with that familiar, lazy grin of his. “gotta hand it to ya, sunshine. pretty solid idea for a get-together. beats grillbz any day.”

You laugh, nudging him lightly. “Oh, come on, nothing beats Grillby’s in your book.”

“eh, fair point. still, wouldn’t mind doin’ this again. maybe next time, i’ll even bring my… stellar humor.”

You snort, rolling your eyes. “Oh, no. Please spare me the space puns, Sans. I don’t think I can take any more.”

“oh, c’mon, ya gotta admit, they're outta this world.”

You groan, hiding a grin. “Alright, I right walked into that one.”

"i call that a job well pun," he replied with a wink. You groan.

Then, you both fall into a comfortable silence, the night sky stretching endlessly above. The darkness wraps around you, serene and familiar, and you feel yourself relax into it, savoring the quiet, steady rhythm of simply being by his side. The world feels distant, leaving just the two of you, sharing a peace that needs no words.

After a moment, you tilt your head towards him, a thought surfacing as you gaze up at the sky. “Did monsters ever make wishes down in the Underground?” The question comes out softly, as if you’re afraid to break the spell of the moment.

“wishes, huh?” he echoes, his gaze staying fixed on the stars.

Sans' smile softens, and for a fleeting moment, you see something deeper in his gaze. "yeah… yeah, we did. used to make ‘em all the time."

He pauses for a few seconds, choosing his next words carefully. "wishin' and waitin'… was kinda all we had, y'know? we'd look up at the crystals in waterfall, just hopin' someone out there might actually hear us." There’s something soft and somber in his tone, something that speaks of countless nights spent in darkness, staring up at artificial lights and longing for something… different.

As if the universe was listening, a shooting star streaks across the sky, a brief but brilliant trail of light. You catch your breath, feeling a little thrill as you shut your eyes and make a wish before the light disappears.

When you open your eyes, Sans is watching you with a faint, curious smile. “well, did ya wish for somethin’ good?”

“I did,” you reply, feeling your cheeks warm slightly. “What about you? Did you wish for anything?”

Sans leans back again, stuffing his hands into his hoodie pockets. He hesitates a little, his face a touch more serious. "heh, if i told ya, it wouldn't come true."

But there’s something in the way he’s looking at you now, lingering just a little too long, as if he’s forgotten to say something else. The silence stretches, and before he can stop himself, he mumbles, “can’t help it, though… feels like i might be fallin’ for ya.”

The words hang between you, and he visibly tenses, realizing what he’s just said. “uh, i mean—trippin’. heh, yeah. trippin’ for ya… guess i… gotta watch my step…” But the attempt to backtrack doesn’t fool either of you.

His face softens, the humor falling away as his gaze meets yours with something far more honest, even a little shy.

Heart pounding, you leaned closer, the fabric of your clothes brushing together as you whispered his name, barely able to find your voice.

"Sans?"

“what?” he murmurs, the word barely more than a breath, his voice tender and uncharacteristically soft.

Before you know it, you’ve closed the gap, your lips brushing his teeth in a feather-light touch. For a moment, he doesn’t move, and you worry you’ve crossed a line, that this might be too much—too soon. But then, his hand comes up to cup your cheek, hesitant yet grounding, as if he’s anchoring himself in the moment.

The kiss is soft and achingly gentle.

When you pull back, his eyes meet yours, carrying a warmth that speaks louder than any words. The moment hangs between you, charged with something fragile yet profound, neither of you daring to look away.

Finally he leans forward, his mouth brushing yours once more, this time with a little more confidence. The hum of his magic mingles with the crisp night air as he pulls you closer, his thumb gently stroking your cheek as he deepens the kiss. Each movement is careful and deliberate, as though he’s savoring something he’s barely dared to hope for. The kiss holds a quiet sincerity, making it feel precious—like he’s offering you a part of himself.

As you part, he lets out a soft, breathy chuckle, his eyes crinkling in that familiar way when he’s genuinely happy. The sound fills the quiet night, a soft echo of joy that lingers between you.

“So,” you say softly, trying to calm your racing heart, “what’d you wish for?”

He looks at you, his voice softened by a gentleness that feels almost like an answer in itself. “maybe i’ll tell ya someday…”

All Gyftmas morning, that sneaky mistletoe has been moving from archway to archway, doorway to doorway - and you're onto it. Every time you move from room to room, you scout the entrances and exits with a discerning eye.

Pup, however, walks from room to room without a care, shrugging when you bring up the kissing tradition.

"a kiss is just a kiss, who cares?"

You care.

So, you huffed at his blasé attitude of it all and continued to step carefully, never off your guard. Meanwhile, Pup has already had to kiss two people due to his lack of awareness - Alphys and Toriel.

You... you'd be lying if you said you weren't slightly jealous. Alphys, he only kissed on the cheek out of respect for Undyne who was watching him like a hawk. Toriel, however, kissed him right on the teeth, finding the tradition adorably fun. All very tame and friendly, yet your heart lurched a bit both times.

Eventually, the festivities die down. You've got a bag full of gifts from all of your friends and a covered plate of food that Tilly insisted you take home with you. As you stand up from zipping up your boots, you're surprised to find Pup standing behind you.

"sneakin' out without sayin' goodbye?" He teases. Caught.

"I couldn't find you." You excuse.

"was outside havin' a smoke."

"Ah." This is awkward. "Well, it's supposed to snow soon, and I wanted to get home ahead of the weather, so I'll see you later-"

As you open the front door to make your escape, you're stopped by his hand on your arm. You raise a brow at him.

"ya really didn't notice? ya've been watchin' all night an' all-a-sudden, ya let yer guard down?"

Tentatively, you look up, sure enough... there's the mistletoe. Your face feels hot when you look back to him. He's... standing under it with you.

"what d'ya say?" He drawls, leaning into your space - but pausing to let you make that last move or pull away. Your heart thuds against your ribcage, and after one glance to your surroundings to check if anyone else is around (there isn't) - you close that gap.

Pup purrs, one hand reaching up to cup your cheek, while the other finds your hip and pulls you closer. Much... less friendly then the other two he's given out today. When he pulls away, he rests his forehead against yours.

But, a kiss is just a kiss... right?
