Rewatching the Aftertale dub again and biting and chewing the walls. The comic series holds up but especially, I really love the dynamic between Sans and Geno. The parallels done between them are so good too. Like obviously that makes sense they’re the Same Person technically, but wehhh with how much focus Geno gets from the fandom, I believe a main core of Aftertale’s story revolved around Sans AND Geno. How important it was to distinguish the differences between them and show how they both were the same person.

One of the main themes of Aftertale is how Sans and Geno share and differ from each other after the split. And one thing I love about Sans in this story is how he shares so many traits with Geno, especially after Geno forces him to relive timelines repeatedly, but Sans continues to push forward. He manages to, ironically, not give up even when Geno tries to essentially force him to. Geno is the one with injected determination, but ironically you could say he’s the one whos “given up” by wanting to erase their existence. Sans was also the one to realize through this that he needed support from friends and family, something Geno had lost and eventually what helped him too.

I’m so normal about their dynamic, they’re so unserious and then when stuff actually hit the fan you see how they differ. Sans is able to remain lighthearted while simultaneously irritating Geno—who’s not laughing anymore after the trauma Geno has been through. I feel like their dynamic isn’t discussed or appreciated enough despite their dynamic literally being THE focus. Two different people by the end of the story, but ultimately they share the same core. The same “soul” haha.
