16. …what really scares them.

Staring eyes. Being scrutinized closely, especially in the sense of judgment, and especially when he’s not at his best. He also has a certain aversion to being touched except by very specific people who have earned his trust. (White Lady could basically pick him up on a whim in most situations)

Imperfection, ‘succumbing to base instincts’, contamination, searing heat- he has a pretty good trauma cluster around the Radiance so most things that remind him of her are right out. He’s less actively terrified by, but definitely leery of, the Grimm Troupe.

 Anything that messes with his foresight is a great way to get under his skin in a hurry as well- if he feels like he should have been able to predict it, but didn’t, it plays havoc on his nerves.

A catch to this is his fear doesn’t always look like fear- oftentimes if scared he’ll manifest it more by being belligerent and contemptuous / doing very understated ‘don’t touch my I���m big’ body language like fanning his wings slightly (back when he had them) and rising up on his body segments.

17. …how good they are with technology.

Excellent. If he didn’t design it, odds are decent that will only get him more invested in getting it for himself, using it, ripping it apart and tinkering with its configuration until he’s satisfied with the result. Not only is he good at it, but he will absolutely enjoy it.

11. …how easily they make friends.

Speaking in terms of raw charisma stats, PK is an elegantly spoken, most of the time coldly composed individual with a very commanding, authoritative presence. Listening to him talk comes natural to many, especially with his certain alien beauty that tends to come across either enthralling or unsettling, but either way, arresting.

...None of this really makes him someone that people feel super buddy-buddy with, and, as mentioned, I headcanon PK as basically the immortal equivalent of a feral child who went from that to a political figure with very little intermediary time. Court manners are basically his only respite. A lot of actual casual situations will throw him for a complete loop. He’s never been “just another dude” to someone so his understanding of friendship is about the level of a tragic villain in a children’s cartoon who started freezing over the happy sunshine forest because he doesn’t know what being nice is.

Needless to say, he basically is dependent on being socially adopted by people with more graces than he does. Which is facilitated by the fact that his idea of being sociable is much like the humble housecat’s- he tends to indicate interpersonal favor by lingering, more than by actually signaling this.

(And then, of course, there’s the whole other side that he thinks personally favoring someone for reasons he can’t convince himself are actually objective is negligent and a sin)

Tagging @pipefoxesonthemoon​, since he got me into it and can probably add on if I miss anything.

In the world of Sunless Sea, you seem to be in a sort of post-apocalyptic setting somewhere around Britain, but it’s no map you recognize. Most of it is ocean, with various and sundry islands on your map. You have to uncover the map as you travel, first in a terribly rickety ship that is an attractive target to pirates and sea monsters. As you trade cargo and complete quests and gather information and secrets to pass on to your superiors (or others who will offer you more money for them) you begin to weave a story. You also can hire on certain crew members, with the option of gathering items they need to resolve their issues and quests. Long stretches of time are spent traveling over the waters in your ship.

Because of this, Sunless Sea is a game that commits the crime of spending your time, which I have heard decried as a near-evil thing sometimes. I find it to be a very relaxing thing, however, to watch the ship move over the waters. Most of the music is fairly relaxing, unless your madness meter gets too high or your supplies too low. You will probably die several times before getting the hang of this game. I have chosen the death option that allows me to keep the map fully charted each time (as opposed to keeping an officer or a ship) because holy cow, that was hands down the hardest part. Uncovering the whole dang map. It can get pretty dark, depending on which stories you follow and which intrigues you get caught up in. There’s a whole lot of things that would be metaphorical in real life that are real life in this game, a lot of fun little quirky things, and a lot of story. I’ve played 40 hours and barely scratched the surface, finally getting my feet after several deaths. I dropped it for a while, busy with other things, but I think now would be a good time to take it up again.

He doesn’t change much in his behavior except for the fact that the “childish attitude” is now him being eternally clingy and showing his affection for his s/o in……….somewhat creepy ways

He’ll kill anyone that annoys you or hurts you himself, he won’t even ask Kurogiri or anything

It’s endearing in a kind of insane way

Of course, since you’re obviously a villain yourself, it’s cute

Obviously if he likes you enough to have a relationship, he finds you to be “clean” and as such, won’t mind touching you

He will, however, try to keep you basically locked away so you don’t get “dirty”

He’ll trust you to help him relax and de-stress after a hard day with the Expendables, so be prepared for silent cuddling

He’s pretty cold at first, but if you’re patient enough, he’ll warm up to you soon

If he doesn’t spend much time with you and instead works more with the Yakuza and his goals, he’ll send you flowers and chocolates and other gifts to make up for it; he’s not a total asshole

He’s basically normal, but he’ll show his love in little ways that he’ll expect you to see

Fantasy Guide to Addressing Nobility

It can be hard to remember how to properly address your noble or royal characters when writing a fantasy court. Here is a quick guide:

1. King/Queen:

Usually addressed as either “Your Grace” or “Your Majesty”. Consort (married to a ruler and not reigning in their own right) can be addressed the same. Sire or Madam can be used also.

2. Prince/Princess:

They are addressed as “Your Highness”. They are NEVER addressed the same as a King or Queen

3. Duke/Duchess:

These are addressed with “Your Grace”. This was a common term also used by royalty before Henry VIII got to big for his codpiece.

4. Earl (Count)/Countess:

Are almost never referred as the “Earl of Narnia” but “Lord Narnia”.

5. Lord/Lady:

An easy one. They are called “My Lord” or “My Lady”.

6. Emperor/Empress:

These may be equal to a King/Queen for status but the have a grander title. They are only addressed as “Your Imperial Highness/Majesty”

I hope this helps when writing your court or fantasy novel.

Fiona: *head of the PTA* And I am sad to announce I will be retiring from my position as head if the PTA. However, we have been able to fill in positions that had been previously absent! Monsters, as well!

Helen:….. What?

Fiona: Allow me to introduce Undyne, the Athletics coach for both boys AND girls!

Undyne: *bursts in* Hell yeah! With me on board, we’re gonna win EVERY game!

Fiona: Mettaton as the drama teacher.

Mettaton: *comes in, posing* Truly there is no finer choice!

Fiona: Alphys, our new nurse!

Alphys: *politely sitting in a chair* H-hi…

Fiona: Gaster, our new physics teacher.

Gaster: *appears* My son built a machine to drag me out of the void just for this. Oho, I’m gonna vaccinate soooo many of your children.

Fiona: And Papyrus, our head booster mom.

Papyrus: I can’t wait to start our first fundraiser! We will sell ALL the cookie dough!

Helen: *gawks* *turns to Sans* You enlisted your entire family?!

Sans: *only chuckles*

Helen: Toriel put you up to this, didn’t she? I will speak to the head of the PTA about this!

Sans: *his chuckles turn into a low and deep laugh, before transforming into a horrifying cackle, slowly growing louder and louder as he laughed evilly* *the lights go out, his sockets go dark, vast pits and a maniacal grin is spread across is skull* *his next words are spoken in a empty, haunting tone* Toriel IS head of the PTA.

I know the popular theory is that Caine’s line about struggling to keep track of who’s real and who’s an NPC is foreshadowing that one of the cast is secretly an NPC

How would you say pk would grow to be better than how he is now? To accept his flaws? Or at least enough to get rid of that void taint?

So this is a fun question that’s basically the cornerstone of this AU! I don’t think of it necessarily as an “improvement on canon” which tells a very good story specifically without PK- exploring the aftershocks of him, in such a way that I feel like unless it was done very well, bringing him back might actually weaken that; the main thrust of canon is a story about Ghost and as I’ve explored in the asks, PK’s actions had the direct consequence that he missed that context. He missed “the main character”, their transcendence, and this is part of what I see him struggling with in the remnant AU- specifically that he doesn’t know a lot of what happened.

As far as PK’s void affliction- that’s based a lot on the dialogue Jiji has about the Shade, and unmanaged regret in general. The way Jiji talks about it- and her existence as a character- makes it pretty clear that while Ghost manifests and deals with their regret differently than most, that void is tied to what causes people to linger.

And I thought that was an interesting thing to play with for PK, because PK as we encounter him is formed both of intense inclination to linger- an almost desperation to linger... and an utter refusal to suggest even for a moment that he regrets anything.

The character is torn in half between pursuing a perceived ideal eternity in which nothing was ever lost, only spent as currency to steady the course- and the reality that he was kind of a pathetic little man driven by desperation and fear. That this contrast comes in a package deal with the sense that he is literally a shining god of civilization but the only non-memory manifestations of him we find are fragile, rotting bodies is just kinda icing to me. Love thinkin’ bout godlike figures in contexts that both invoke and subvert that sense of grand power.

So basically PK’s void affliction as I write it is basically after leaving his soul in a quagmire of grief and sunk cost fallacy for years on end, sacrificing Hollow sent the situation into critical mass and now he’s going septic from unmanaged regret. He tried to become a being that never hesitated by condemning so much of himself ‘to the abyss’- denying, rejecting, sublimating, or just forcing down- that symbolically speaking, he dug out his own heart. The void is not attacking him- it’s occupying the space he created from attacking himself.

In that case, the key to get out of the situation and start- slowly- healing, is basically just facing his own actions and feelings. He has to hit a point of acceptance and this is not easy for someone who is firmly mired in denial- first and foremost, that he is grieving at all. And that’s his hardest hill to climb. 

This isn’t necessarily a path to him becoming a good person- that’s a much longer one- but he has to reject the idea that this is all he can ever be and make an attempt to change for the better, or he’s gonna affirm his own flawed assumptions and become something that can never change at all- that is, a dead fucker.

Another way to think of it is basically my take on PK is “self-made Silent Hill protagonist”, down to the point of some more literal than usual personal demons.
