The kiss takes Izzy by complete surprise. One second they're talking strategy and training, and the next Stede is kissing him.

The more surprising thing about it? Izzy doesn't push him away nor does he pull back. He lets it happen. He lets it happen because fuckin' hell, it feels good and he fuckin' likes it. Is it because he's angry at Edward, and hurt, so kissing his ex-boyfriend feels like sweet revenge? Is it because he knows Stede is also angry and hurt at Ed leaving, despite leaving first, so he just wants to get it out of his system? Or is it because Izzy actually likes him? It was a bit of everything, honestly, on top of the alcohol in their systems, but fuck, maybe they both need this. Izzy wasn't stupid, he's felt the tension between the two of them lately and he knows Stede has felt it, too. It's been building for a fucking while now the more time they spend together. As Captain and First Mate, as trainer and trainee, as friends or... whatever the fuck they were. He's been seeing Stede in a different light as of late, feeling attracted to him and fuck, wanting him. Not to mention bonding over their pain caused by Edward, finding comfort in each other and now... now it's a different kind of comfort. But one Izzy craves more of.

So once Stede pulls away, looking just as shocked as Izzy was, even concerned and apologetic, Izzy puts a stop to it before Stede can even say a word. "Fuckin' Bonnet." He growls as he grabs onto Stede's shirt and pulls him in, crashing his lips back against his, harder than the first, and even encouraging Stede to let it deepen, conveying that he was fine with this, that he wanted it, and calypso help him, he hoped Stede did, too. Because either way? Israel Hands was fucked.
