“meguru,” he corrects airily.

“meguru,” you start again, “this isn’t a good idea. you know i have a boyfriend.”

he grasps your face and smooths his thumbs across your cheeks. his usual, mischievous smile—usually a comfort—unnerves you. knocking his forehead agains yours, he whispers, “your boyfriend isn’t here. besides: i want to be your boyfriend.”

before you can reply, he leans in and captures your lips again; this time, his touch is firmer, his movements hungrier. you attempt to push him away, but his grip doesn’t waver. he slips his tongue into your mouth, and you take the opportunity to bite his bottom lip until you taste the metallic tang of iron.

bachira pulls away a hair’s breadth. a string of bloody spit snaps between you, and golden irises are wide with glee. hot tears carve rivulets down to your chin, and he kisses the salt away with a hum, leaving smears of ichor in his wake. he wraps his arms around your waist and buries his nose in your hair with a contented sigh.

“don’t worry,” he coos, breath tickling your ear. “you’re mine, now.”
