I fucking love that young royals really highlights the fact that no one can fix you but you. They have Wille and Simon trying to work around the horrible things going on together, and it doesn't really work because the biggest problem is that Wille is suffering so much under what the are trying to push through. At the beginning of s3 they have the "as long as I have you" kind of mentality and we see how quickly that falls apart. Having each other is not enough, and it shouldn't be. Wille needs to leave the life that is destroying him. Having simon in that life made it better, but it still was not enough. Simon recognizes that at the end of s3e5. Wille thought that all he needed was Simon because he has been so horribly mistreated by every adult in his life that the moment he is shown some unconditional love, he clings to it. Because, let me remind you, this kid is 17 years old. The ending is so incredibly impactful because Wille is finally choosing himself and his happiness. Not Simon's, not his moms. His. And that is beautiful.

I'd never really noticed this until I read Serakit's Escapees or Exiles, in which Julian is on Terok Nor before the Occupation ends and his relationship with Nog is to die for, I get so emotional about them. But yeah, that series definitely highlighted that blind spot for me and now I cannot unsee because jeeeez. Nog had it so rough for real.

Watching DS9 for the first time and it really strikes me how blatantly the adults show prejudice against Nog bc he's Ferengi. Like, he's a kid with clearly a not-great home life. Y'all expecting bad behavior is just gonna push him towards bad behavior. I just feel bad for him. He's constantly being set up to fail by nearly every adult around him.

So we know Jason knew Nico as the ambassador of Pluto when he was praetor before the events of the Lost Hero. So do we think that sometime in the six months between Lost Hero and Son of Neptune Nico went back to Camp Half Blood for a quick minute and had an encounter with Jason (who only had some of his memories back) that exactly mirrored his conversation with Percy in SON?

Six books I want to read this year:

- Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett. I have it from the library after a recommendation from a friend so this one will be soon.

- Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik. I was reading Naomi Novik's short story collection that came out and there was one that was apparently very much like the novel. Curious to see the differences now.

- Temeraire Series by Naomi Novik. For the same reason of getting interested via the short stories of hers. Technically a series but I mean I want to read the whole thing so.

- Chronicles of Avonlea by L.M. Montgomery. Got it last year and it seems like an interesting tie-in to the Anne series.

- Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin. Again got it last year and interested in seeing what it's like. Looks interesting.

- I don't tend to plan out my reading far in advance so. For the last one I'll somewhat cheat and do a list of rereads I'm interested in. Brandon Sanderson's The Lost Metal, Wind and Truth, and Yumi and the Nightmare Painter. Anne series. Arc of a Scythe by Neal Shusterman. Maybe even some Austen and Pyrdain.

I love this episode for one reason and one reason only. I like to read stories about Luke living but instead of claiming another dragon (which I still love to read), I personally favor the ones that have a dragon claim HIM, and not the other way around. Like they take a look at the poor boy, and decide that they'll burn the world for him all by themselves without Luke even trying because at the end of the day they have their own thoughts and preferences, so every time I read a story like that I always smile because they're fierce intelligent creatures, and storylines like those emphasize it more. I genuinely believed the show would never give us a storyline like that. I never thought I would SEE a dragon claiming someone in this show, and almost desperately at that. Seasmoke chasing Addam down as the man runs for his life was the best thing this show has given me because all I could think of was that this is what it would've looked like if Luke had lived, and gotten chosen, and the fangirl in me was shouting with joy.
