Ultimate Floating Widgets v2.9 Release

Ultimate floating widgets v2.9 is now available. This is a maintenance release that includes a number of enhancements and bug fixes. It is now available for both free and PRO versions.

Getting the update

You can update the plugin directly from your WordPress administration page by navigating to Dashboard > Updates. This applies to both free and PRO versions of the plugin.

You can also download the free version of the plugin from WordPress.org and upload it manually. For the PRO version you can follow the documentation. If you haven’t got the PRO version yet, you can get it here.

The Kenrith twins’ spell floated to the center of the classroom and exploded, blinding the students and their teacher. When the light subsided, a simulacrum of the twins’ father stood amid their awestruck classmates. The imitation King Kenrith blinked in surprise.

“Will? Rowan? What’s the meaning of this?”

Before the twins could speak, the rest of the class began fawning over the false king.

“Whoa! That’s King Kenrith!”

“I heard he did those quest things for all five realms of Eldraine!”

“Wait…Will and Rowan…Kenrith!”

Before the twins’ classmates could bow, the owl-headed teacher held out a wing to stop them.

“Now now, remember, class! ‘Algenus’ here is just a product of Will and Rowan’s spell. He should dissipate in a few minutes.”

“Actually,” Rowan interrupted, “whenever we’ve summoned our father before, he stuck around for a few days at minimum.”

The aven teacher gave a squawk of surprise. “Oh, but with so little formal training! Unless…oh, of course. If you two are from Eldraine…planeswalkers, then?”

The twins exchanged a nervous glance, but ultimately gave their teacher a pair of nods. The aven gave an annoyed huff in return.

“Of course. Ah, well, we’ll just continue on for now. King Kenrith!”

“Yes?” asked the simulacrum.

“Since you’ll be here for…a while…would you care to sit in on some classes before you go? Always more to learn, you know!”

The aven pointed to the blackboard, already rife with notes. Kenrith nodded while staring at the board.

“Yes. But it seems you’ve left out quite a bit here.”

The aven’s beak twitched.

“What.”

“If you’re in a fight, you likely won’t have enough time to fully cast. Maybe you could focus less on the summoning time, especially since your simulacrums are likely to get blown away, often less than a minute after appearing! Also-”

“Let’s just stick to basics for now, shall we?”

The aven’s tone was ice-cold as Kenrith made a small noise of disappointment.

“Sorry, just trying to help.”

UE Assets - Player: The remaining code

Comparatively to my previous projects, the player code for this game is much smaller, that isn't to say there is less there however, but I believe I have gotten better this project at making the player's features more compact.

Apart from the standard character code, there are 5 main features to the player; Pickup, Use, Drop, Menu and Tick, which is responsible for multiple things.

Pickup and Use

Both the Pickup and the Use function work in a nearly identical way, which is by firing a line trace, checking if the hit object is valid, and calling upon an event dispatcher, with the only difference between the two is their conditions and the fact that the pickup function has an additional function at its end in order to determine if the item picked up is of the same type as the item held and act accordingly.

Drop

The Drop function works by playing a timeline, the float number of which determines the strength at which the item is thrown. When the item is spawned by dropping it, an impulse is added to it in the player's facing direction with an impulse strength determined by the aforementioned timeline. The drop itself works by spawning the amount of items held rapidly one by one so they may collide and fuse on the spot, turning them ultimately into one item which will be launched, at higher amounts, dropping large amounts of items may cause lag, however as items cannot collide with each other, the lag isn't substantial.

Tick events

Only 4 things happen every tick, first, the player's health is checked and if equal to or below 0, the player is destroyed. Second the mesh for the player's currently held item is updated in order to provide visual representation of what the player is holding. Third, the "Update Build Rot" function is triggered, the function of which can be seen in the build menu post. Lastly, the location and rotation of the preview mesh for the building system is updated, along with checking whether it is colliding with another object and correctly setting its material.

Overall, for the amount of content so far, there hasn't been any need for anything more than is currently coded and while there are more features I could've added, none of them were high priority for completion and I'm happy with what the player has.

For the UI i want visual representations of the abilities cooldowns/availability by using refilling progress bars and radials.

I didn't do research into the UI as i just need it to be functional and simple however the radial is based of of the OW ultimate charge

For shields - When the shields are picked up they are divided by 100 so it converts to a sub 1 value representing a percentage.

This is done for health as well. [Bottom Left Bottom Bar]

A representation for the cooldown of the signature ability. All of the rest of the abilities use timelines as a percentage value as they scale from 0 to 1 in a chosen time. (1-0 for flight)

Texture Code which creates 2 different circles that subtract from each other creating a percentile radial. The percentage is a parameter which can be set within any code necessary.

Next i put it into widget blueprint and bound the parameter to an editable variable in the blueprint so i can change it anytime

If the component is valid "set per g" (a object reference) meaning if it exists it will set the float value determining the rotation however if it is not it will be created by creating a dynamic material instance.

*I implemented the UI throughout each node so the problems i encountered i cannot remember however i believe there wasn't many as it was very simple

Question: Does only labor create surplus value?

Answer: Yes, in the long run.

In the short run, there are many ways to create surplus value. A common way is when a capitalist invents a system that reduces the labor per widget. At first, exchange value (or demand-side value) would not change, but as people realize what has transpired, the value would be adjusted to this new value, and the distortion created by the capitalist would bear out as inflation. This is why in times of austerity, where the economy focuses on capitalist ways of creating value, which again ultimately does not create value, we would start to see inflation but overall stagnation in the economy. Hey, this is basically what happened in the ‘70s!

There were other factors, like the oil crisis, but increasing calls for austerity, started by Carter and turbo-charged by Reagan, and the resulting business behaviors seems to be the main factors… of course, this was temporarily solved through interest rate hikes, sapping investment which helped tamper down business response to austerity but also causes labor shortages, but recently it has transpired the economy itself to float away from labor entirely.

Only way the pie can actually grow is through consumption of more resources and increase in concentration of effort, which both can only be made through with more labor.

And that’s just for openers at Carillon Miami, a condo-hotel-spa—formerly Canyon Ranch—and now the ultimate wellness retreat. Spa Director Tammy Pahel has brought in every bell, whistle and 21st-century widget to this 70,000-square-foot spa, which features 171 classes— even a surfboard workout—as well as a renowned plastic surgeon and a team practicing Oriental medicine, and just recently has introduced NAD IVs delivering a compound deep within our cells that aids in energy transfer and helps regulate how our cells age. Randomization

RI have now implemented the random part of my game. I added chests that when interacted with will spawn abilities in front of it. These abilities can be picked up by the player and used. 

I started by adding the widget on screen so when you look at the chest with the crosshair it will add a widget. 

This line trace runs on a tick which checks to see if it hit an object that has the interact interface on it, then will add it or not add it depending on what was the outcome of the check was. 

Then I added the ability to press F and open the chest. 

I used the Interact event that is added when adding an interface to an actor, then the rest of the code runs in the chest itself. 

Here we are checking if the widget is on the screen, if it is then we set the chest to its open position. 

This part spawns the abilities, I used the location of the chest then added some to it to make the new abilities location. I originally had it set up so that the e and the q ability was the same actor but this was hard since each one does very different things I thought it would be best to redo it and separate it. I then ran into another problem, they would spawn inside each other so I had to make them not do that. Where they spawn is actually random since it gets random float in range of -100 and 100 then it will take that and add it to the Y value of the cube which spawns it. 

Now the ultimate ability is slightly different. It spawns in the same way but there is a probability it wont spawn in, now its a very big probability since its only 50/50, that’s because I didn’t want the player to get loads of ultimates but I also wanted the player to have one since they are very cool.

This is the code we run when the player walks into the sphere collision for the ability. It casts to the player and gets the Hud reference then depending on the ability blueprint, we check this boolean to see if the player has already picked up an ability so they can’t just pick up abilities over and over again. After that we set the hud so that it shows the icon on the hud then set the correct boolean so that for the check then destroy the actor

Astra vs Ocean wp
