The more the story advances, the more I feel like Bokuto shouldn't end up with reader. Or Hikari, for that matter. Dude's got a looooot of growing up to do. It's not even a project like I was thinking up until this chapter, it's a whole damn construction site.

I even went and re-read the first few chapters. And while there's, arguably, SOMETHING there as far as his feelings towards reader are concerned, the whole thing with Hikari doesn't even feel like "I can't get with who I want, so I'll just try my luck with the new girl since she's interested". Dude was 100% fine and dandy with the attention he was getting. He was happy. Hell, he's happy with her now.

Until he tries to replicate with Hikari the things he used to do with reader, and she doesn't find joy in them. Until reader started having no time for him. Until he learns that she HAD feelings for him all along. Until he actually sees her and Kuroo together.

And this chapter? Emotionally dude is still a child, period. It's like he's mad that someone is playing with a toy he didn't realize he could have had, while not caring if the toy that he currently has is touched by someone else right in front of him. Feelings are hard, and hurt, so I'll just get drunk and blame everyone for the problems I had a hand in causing. Lash out and hurt 3 very important people in my life - AFTER Akaashi warned him about this very scenario, too.

Sigh. That all being said - and considering that, despite all this, I still understand where he's coming from and how he's feeling - this is the kind of clown behaviour that gets you cut out of people's lives. I honestly didn't think I'd end up hating Bokuto at any point of this story, but it's coming very close to that. Were I in this situation, I'd never want to see him again, regardless of what feelings I had for the guy.

A classic case if “you don’t know what you got until it’s gone”

I wouldn’t say Bokuto ever took Y/N for granted, I think he definitely appreciated her and was very aware of her importance in his life BUT I think he took HER FEELINGS for granted. Not her romantic feelings, but even platonically. He just always expected her to be there for him no matter what cause she’s ALWAYS been there and always prioritized him, so he can go on living his happy life with no worries

Bokuto’s essentially been spoiled and babied by almost everyone in his life, so it’s only natural for him to almost expect it but this point right? Well WAKE UP BOKUTO LIFE ISNT LIKE THAT

Well now he’s got a taste of what it’s like to pretty much get demoted in Y/N’s life, and he’s literally going crazy sigh

Bokuto has a lot of growing up to do, but he’s never been in a situation that properly calls for him to change who he is, and now he is also attempting to navigate through turbulent waters. The big difference is that y/n is no longer there to hold his hand, and he feels so lost

Selfishness like that is hardly a one victim crime :(
