Also LTA: takes over local tennis courts that used to be free for anyone to go along at any time and enforces a rigid booking system and charges people to book

Surely this will encourage the kids to play!

I felt so much nostalgia while watching Andy's tribute. For me, he was a constant in this sport. A person looked up by a lot of people, including me. I have so many memories of watching Andy's matches and achievements through the TV... what he did for the sport was legendary. Hence, it's bittersweet knowing he is retiring. But I'm sure we won't see the last of him just yet and he will have forever a chapter in tennis history 🥺. Thank you so much for being one of my heroes, Andy Murray.

it’s not surprising given the general culture around tennis in general (and how wimbledon and its ~tradition~ seems right out of the tory handbook) but its a bit jarring seeing these millionaires admit they dgaf about the election and that tennis is more important… and they dont have to care, lmfao! draper’s dad used to be the head of the lta ffs, theyre all rich and privileged enough not to care what the outcome is cos in this system they get to sit pretty and be rich no matter what.

Dorothy Round

Tennis player Dorothy Round was born in 1909 in Dudley, Worcestershire, England. Over the course of her athletic career, Round won six major championship titles. She was the only British tennis player to to win two Wimbledon ladies' singles titles. Round attained the ranking of world no. 1 in 1934.

Dorothy Round died in 1982 at the age of 73. In 1986, she was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
