to any followers I have in Scotland, I can't tell you how to vote, and you take this as you take it. But with that said:
please do not let Labour get into power
they are angling for a supermajority in Westminster and if they end up in charge, we can't get our fight for Independence moving any further while they're in. Mr Chicken Nuggets (aka Starmer, aka the McLibel man), has made it very clear he is not going to reverse anything the Tories have put in, and is likely to double down on the Unionist flag humping while in power. This is largely tolerable if he's not also calling the shots up here.
Also Anas Sarwar is sorta useless and I do not want to hand him the proverbial nuclear launch codes.

UK politics talk under the cut
So last week, unless you have been keeping a close eye on this sad little island of mine for the past month, the labour party won a massive majority in parliament for the first time in over 20 years, albeit on a pathetically small 34% vote share (cheers FPTP system).
Tumblr media
The big story behind this election however, is not centrist labour winning a "landslide" built on sand, or far-right snake-oil-salesman nigel farage's """party""" getting 5 seats, due in large part to getting large sums of money from fossil fuel donors to spend on astroturfing social media with botfarms, and almost daily coverage in MSM. No.
The real big story is, not only the centre-left Libdems winning way more seats for the first time in a decade (72), but the smaller left-leaning challengers, including but not limited to, Plaid Cymru and Green Party of England & Wales managing to make record breaking history by each winning 4 seats! The Green Party especially in particular came 2nd place to labour in 47 other seats!
Meanwhile 5 out of the 6 independent candidates that won, ran on a pro-Palestine platform.
All this, on top of the fact the Libdems, The Scottish National Party, and the rest of the smaller leftwing parties, all in favor of a ceasefire in gaza, including 50 returning labour MPs who who voted in favor of one last year, means that the House of Commons has a pretty hefty block of about roughly 154 MPs (yes, I did the math) who outnumber nobhead frogface and the dramatically shrunk cohort of tory MPs, and cannot be ignored by the pro-genocide wing of parliament.
While I'm glad that the tories have finally been knocked off their throne after 14 years of misery and turmoil, the biggest W from this entire election IMO, has to be the unwavering socialist champion for socioeconomic justice & world peace, Jeremy Corbyn, one of the indie candidates, winning his seat once again in Islington North.
The very fact these indies, PC and green MPs managed to score these historic Ws with very little resources, coverage, and even time considering how short this election campaign was, is a spectacular achievement for the british left.
There's still work to do yet and certainly no room for complacency, but overall, I don't think I've felt this cautiously optimistic about my political climate in a long while.
It also proves yet again that, despite the seemingly unsurmountable odds, the Palestine Solidarity movement's calls for a immediate ceasefire in Gaza are working, and it's not going away anytime soon, no matter who says otherwise.

in local politics news, it turns out that getting your wife to call police on protesting gulf war veterans while you're defending your seat in an armed forces city as veterans' minister THE DAY BEFORE THE ELECTION isn't a great move

The Tories have been in power my entire adult life. They came into power shortly before I was legally allowed to vote (18) and so as a working adult I know no other government.
Not so coincidentally, my adult life has been hell. Constantly being furious and disgusted with your government runs you down, I'll tell you what. 14 years is all it has taken to completely wreck this country, to the point that no part of its infrastructure works anymore. I rent a mouldy flat that is actively damaging my health from someone who can happily evict me if I ask them to fix things, drive my car to my under-paying job over roads that are more pothole than tarmac, worrying about the ever increasing cost of completely basic food and wondering if my heart gave out after over a decade of permanent increasing stress whether an ambulance would reach me within the same day.
I am not a Labour voter. The modern party is too timid, too business-friendly, too willing to engage in the culture war on the side of hate. They will not be getting my vote, but that is largely tactical; to boot out the local disgusting Tory, I must hold my nose and vote Lib Dem.
Despite that, I have some optimism. The Labour party appears to want to return to a time when the main function of the government is governing. Serving the population. I will be frequently angry with them, I imagine. I doubt they will please me most days. But at this point, after 14 years of increasing misery, after 14 years of the worst people to ever run this country I am expecting a feeling of relief on Friday. Relief that the bastards are finally fucking done.
Vote the Conservative party out. Get rid of them.
I want to experience hope for the first time.

There is word that my finally defeat now ex-Tory MP might end up in the Lords.
Given he was first elected into the Commons in 1975, I’m pretty sure he’s a Grade One listed fixture of the Palace of Westminster. It would be a matter of moving a relic from one environment into a better suited one.
I mean it’s a huge dusty palace, it needs dust catchers.

Reminder that the Deadline to Register to Vote in the UK General Election is TOMORROW!!! That's 11:59 on the 18th of June.
You can't get rid of the Tories if you're not registered! It's quick and easy to do, you can do it whilst the kettle is boiling. Whilst your game is loading. Whilst you're pooping. Just go here and type in your details!
You can register if you're over 16, so it's a good chance to get ready to vote regardless of what happens! And it will also mean if you're turning 18 on the day (4th July) then you'll still be allowed to vote!
Voting DOES MATTER and EVERY VOTE COUNTS!!! I've seen local elections come down to a coin toss. I've seen MPs get elected by just 8 votes. In the recent West Midlands Mayoral Election, Labour won by just 0.3% of the vote. Which, by my calculations, was just 2 votes for every town in the constituency. EVERY. VOTE. MATTERS.
Register your vote, have your say, GET RID OF THE TORIES.
