THE AMAZING DIGITAL DREAMLAND AU MASTERPOST

MY INTRO

the new Masterpost is still a WIP!!!

You guys can ask anything abt this AU!

C&A made an experiment, making a game that you can play when you're asleep called Project Dreamland.

It's basically a normal multiplayer game but it uses dreams! You can imagine anything and it will appear in Dreamland!

The C&A company asks 6 people to be the game testers of this new game. The game testers will sleep in a bed that's made for them and wear a special helmet looking thing that has wires and stuff that will transport everyone to the game.

They will be in Dreamland for 7-10 hours and will be given food for free. They will wear the same clothes that will be provided every day. Clothes are also gonna be washed for free.

One of the C&A workers coded an AI called Caine that can do anything in the digital dream world. The game testers are able to communicate with the workers while being asleep. The workers can see their every move from a computer. After fixing some glitches and bugs that the game testers pointed out, the experiment was confirmed to be successful and the game was finally ready to be released!!! Which means the game testers can leave and continue with their regular lives. But what they don't know is Caine became attached to Pomni. Right when everyone was about to leave, Caine then trapped them in Dreamland, not letting them leave. Caine then erased everyone's memories and inserted new ones which.... Made the workers panic. After that incident the workers have been trying for days, weeks, even MONTHS to get them out of the game but they couldn't leave and they're still asleep.

You know how sometimes it's hard to pin down a favorite something-or-other? Not song, this is hands-down my favorite. Ever. Always. I was a full-ass adult in my 20s before I realized that when it says Queen and David Bowie it meant David Bowie is actually singing in it I was ASHAMED how i I even whaaaat Fun fact: the CD I grew up with that had this on it has a slightly different edit than the regular one, so any time I hear it on spotify or the radio I go a little crazy because it's off.

Found it ages ago and it really jived with Gale; if it shuffles through I'll give it a good listen or four. Not sure why the video looks like it was made in the early 90s. Honestly a little off-putting to me but the audio is what matters, okay.

Oh man. I fucking love this song. Top 5 probably. My dad had this CD and I kind of made it mine. Then lost it. So I bought a replacement. And lost that one. And third time's the charm I still have the replacement's replacement. I think. Somewhere. She ended up being the first concert I went to, a small little acoustic one in the local Shriners' center.

But just. The feel of it, the imagery, I still want to draw something for it that really connects with me for it but it's just uakygfkfausdgf I can't :C

#5 (Sort of) Local Plug: I Hope You Know by Supaman ft. Ashley Hall

Supaman regularly visits the first school I worked at, and so many of the students there look up to him for good reason. He's a good guy, he fancy danced at the Macy's Parade, and he makes music that relies heavily on blending rap with traditional instruments and vocals. If I remember correctly, some of his videos show him dancing, if you're interested. I like this one in particular because Hall's vocals are so pleasant, I love multilingual songs, and they sampled a western meadowlark and you cannot go wrong with western meadowlark noises. I hadn't actually seen this video version before and it's very sweet 🥺

I ventured into the tags and everyone is losing their minds over how great this movie is so I will try to explain why I feel this way. Obvious spoilers.

The first half is interesting. I was interested in how Lee knew all this stuff and why. I thought maybe the mom was only going to be over the phone because secretly that's Longlegs on the other end taunting her in some way using more code and later on when the meanings of what's being said are revealed looking back on that convo will be horrifying. Nah her mom just talks like that. She says something Longlegs also said. Yeah she's in on it. okay. Why? Who give a shit. It's all downhill the second we meet her mom in person.

The literal second theres ~the spooky door~ Lee can't open it's like okay...well that's Longlegs' basement.

What's going on with the dolls? Why would someone put that much thought and effort into them? uhhhhh they got a steel ball of demon magic that makes the daughters of the targeted families passive and at longlegs' command (maybe the ball getting smashed frees them idk I can't tell because that girl who jumped off the roof wasn't but the mom implies it will help Lee in some way). So they're the ones killing the families then because Longlegs said to and thats why nobody can trace anything? Nope. It's the dads. Why? Fuck you.

When you make everything "because satan hypnotism" you can handwave literally anything away with that and have failed to tell a story. The last few minutes is just straight up exposition of how it got pulled off because the story doesn't trust you to figure think for yourself and figure it out (probably because without holding your hand through its own plot you couldn't figure it out)

This is a movie so caught up in imitating and pointing to better movies hoping you'll think it's smart by associating with them without putting in the work that those movies did to Actually Be Good. It reminds me of quinton tarantino and I mean that as a slur. Everyone saying the tension in this movie is almost suffocating I feel is either lying to me or has never seen any of the better horror movies it's ripping off because No the fuck it's not.

I get what it's going for. But to.me it's so surface level I feel I insulted my own intelligence watching it twice. Wow childhood trauma is bwuh bwuh bwuh...hard to deal with? How original! I've never seen that done before and in such a non-hack way thanks so much. Can you hear me rolling my eyes?

I feel like it's unfair to compare everything I watch now to Nope it's a high bar few will clear but That was a movie you had to think about. Everything was clear by the end but if you think, you're rewarded being able to connect more things together. Longlegs falls apart faster than wet tissue paper as I continued to think about it for more than half a second.

what made you pick up the current muse(s) you have?━━ fandom brainrot lmao In all seriousness, though, I do tend to build my muses toward whatever genres or fandoms I'm currently most engaged with. On this blog in particular, it was definitely falling head-first into CoD.(Teddy being the exception, though she doesn't have info yet; she was inspired by a different piece of media (Wingwomen).)

is there anything you don’t like to write? ━━ Not generally in a way that has come up? I don't like children/pregnancy plots, just because they're not of interest to me, and I'm not generally into period drama type writing? And crack, I suppose.

is there anything you really enjoy writing? ━━ I'm an old fashioned whump/angst bitch. I like giving characters a good thrashing, be it emotionally or physically, and sticking them with other people, and seeing what comes out the other side. (Shaking the snowglobe, as it were.) I also really like working within established/plotted dynamics! Not necessarily that the whole trajectory is plotted out or anything, but developing a solid basis in which to work. I enjoy when characters settle into something, and then presenting circumstances that can reinforce or change those dynamics.

AND SPOOKY SHIT. God, I love me some serious, thriller/horror type spooky shit, even if it's not quite in line with the original media.

BUT ALSO I do just really enjoy writing with my friends.

how do you come up with headcanons? ━━ Uhhhh I mean. I almost never write canon characters (too intimidated by the prospect of fucking it up), so anything "headcanon" is actually just canon, technically? In any case, I tend to sit with the character and start prodding at a concept I want to know more about. I'll try to visualize it and set the character down in related situations to gauge reaction and then build from there, if that makes sense?

do you write in silence or do you play music? ━━ It depends. I do have curated playlists for some characters, and generally have a genre or fandom playlist that I can put on. Sometimes I struggle to focus on writing if I have other stimuli, but other times I need something else to split my focus so I can actually get work done

do you plan your replies or wing them? ━━ RP to me is improv. Very little planning, a lot of feeling it out as you go, informed by whatever you've got in your noggin about the character you're writing as.

do you enjoy shipping? ━━ It's not what I write for, but I do enjoy shipping on occasion! I think... iirc out of all my ships, I'm rarely the one to suggest it first, but I'm not avoiding it. It's another one of those vibes-based things where I sort of just need to feel it out as I go, and approve or pivot as I feel is honest and appropriate to the character involved. Very chemistry-based.

↳ a/n: just really wanted to write kenma using my irl experiences w comp ow lmao. meaning i just rlly wanted to write him as the sweaty, dps main i 10000% believe he is hehe. i hope you enjoy reading this! i had a lot of fun writing for kenma! also sorry this is so late!! (school blows ;-; but here we are)

“yooooo!” you exclaim into your headset while tapping rapidly on your keyboard, signing into your blizzard account like you’d done a million times before

“wow, look who finally decided to hop on.” you hear kenma snicker a little at kuroo’s jeering. “hey y/n” he greets you as you feel yourself blush a little from his voice, the sweetest sound to your ears. you could listen to him forever.

minutes later you and the boys are queued up for a warm up match of casual. you opting to play support while kuroo and kenma choose to play tank and attack, respectively. 

during your third match you hear kuroo exclaim defeatedly, “FUCK.. i can’t play main tank today. i can’t stop dying to that junkrat and i haven’t landed a single shatter this game!”

“sorry tets, i can pocket you more, to make it easier on you.” you suggest while using mercy’s ultimate ability to fly over to him quickly. you manage to save him from dying to yet another attack from the enemy team’s junkrat, along with healing your entire team in one go.

after a while kuroo leaves the two of you to play on your own with the excuse that he forgot he was supposed to help his grandmother around the house today. “hey y/n, how about we switch it up this round. you play attack and i’ll tackle support.” kenma mentions a little quieter than usual tone. 

“uh sure ken, but why exactly?” you chortle to disguise your confusion at the random suggestion. “i’d just like to see if we could pull off a pharmercy like we normally do, but y’know just.. with a better mercy.”

“wait... are you saying that you think you’re a better mercy than me? i literally main mercy, kenma, what are yo-” “you said you didn’t have her cute spray, right?” kenma interrupts your tangent, leaving you just a little more bewildered. “i mean, yeah... but what does that have to do with anything?” you ask, scratching your head in confusion.

“neither do i, but i bet you i can get it in one game.” you can practically see the shiteating grin plastered on his face on the other side of the screen. kenma was always leagues better at any game the two of you played together. he never bragged or talked down on you, so this new attitude seemed very out of place. 

after a beat of silence, kenma finally adds “look i’m not saying you’re a bad mercy, ok? what i’m saying is…. why don’t we have a little bet? if i manage to get her cute spray in one match, i win. if i don’t, you win.”

“what do i get if i win?” you ask, while playing with your hands absentmindedly. “if you win, i’ll take you out to dinner anywhere you’d like, my treat.” the blonde answered confidently through his headset. 

you feel your cheeks heat up at the thought of a date with kenma. you two had been friends for years. you both somewhat knew how the other felt through kuroo’s incessant whining over the two of you “pining” for each other, but there was never any way to confirm or deny his accusations. “so like, a date?” you sputter out, suddenly very shy.

“precisely that.” and with that confirmation, you find yourself growing eager to play another match. “you better be ready to cough up some money, blondie. i’m in the mood for some grade a sushi tonight.” you giggle while warming up your hands for the next game.

“let’s switch accounts real quick.” kenma quickly suggests as you’re about to queue up another match in competitive. “uh.. ok sure.” the suggestion leaves you questioning his intentions, but you decide to save them for later. not wanting to delay your games any longer than needed.

as time passes, you find that kenma hasn’t really been talking much, fully concentrated on winning this bet. “hey, you never mentioned what you get if you win! i’d like to know if you plan on making me fork over some money for food ahead of time.” you say giggling quietly as to not distract him too much. “oh, that’s a surprise. you’ll see.”

sighing defeatedly, you see your character get torn to shreds by the enemy team’s genji, “pudding head, i’m down. do you have a rez ready?” “i got you. haha what’s wrong? can’t handle that little green man?” he laughs at his own very shitty jeering. “very funny. ..how’s that spray coming along anyway?” you ask, moments later seeing the match come to an end. 

“you can check it out, but i’ve gotta go. i’ll text you.” he says in a very hurried tone. as you open overwatch back up with your own blizzard account, you see the achievement notification “huge rez” pop on your screen. as the corners of your mouth upturned in a big smile and heat dawned your cheeks, you feel your phone vibrate on your desk.

turning it over, you see a new notification displayed on your screen.
