really though it's interesting thinking about morphs where the animal's sex doesn't match the morpher's gender and how they feel about that. we know that Marco acquired and morphed a female wolf in #3 and wasn't super fond of that (maybe that's why he never uses that morph again, iirc?). of course the animal's sex really doesn't matter for most intents and purposes and generally the animorphs don't have the luxury of being able to choose. still though...

I'm trying to think of morphs used where we know for sure what sex it was. they established that rachel's bald eagle morph is male. tobias got a male hawk (and good thing too or else #3 would've been even more awkward for him, probably). presumably Big Jim the gorilla is male, going by that name. david chose a male lion morph (which actually turned out to be advantageous for him when fighting Jake in tiger morph, although I think it's more likely david chose the male lion just because he didn't want to morph a female). rachel morphed a male cat. cassie morphed the female skunk and also took over caring for its kits and I feel like there's something to unpack there but I'm not sure what. rachel's elephant morph is referred to as a "bull" which implies male I believe

rachel has a lot of male morphs but I feel like she wouldn't give a shit. certainly she would give less of a shit than marco would about having to morph a female wolf. something something fragile masculinity I guess
