“you good?” you ask when it’s about an hour after the wedding and you’re sitting next to him in the sand (still in your wedding dress) nursing a can of beer. he laughs next to you, his tie undone and his suit jacket abandoned somewhere.

“course i am, i just married the love of my life,” he replies and clinks his can with yours before taking a swig. he winces and you laugh. you both know you’ve had too much to drink already but he denies finishes his drink anyway (you do too).

osamu and kita are probably somewhere in the venue helping the staff clean up and pack up the left overs, but atsumu dragged you out when the last guest left and had you sit next to him in the sand. he laughed when you tried to brush of the sand in the lace of your dress but you later decide that you don’t really mind because at the moment the waves in the dark sound like music and the night sky’s colors make the world in front of you look like a void.

that you and atsumu are ready to dive into and rewrite. it feels daunting, you think. but he smiles at you and cracks a joke so you relax. 

“so what now?” you ask again when the silence envelops the two of you. and it’s the good kind of silence, you decide. you like how you can share those moments with atsumu. how you don’t have to think of a topic to talk about or some sort of break in the conversation so awkwardness doesn’t roll in the air. it’s just always been like that with him. just the two of you standing next to eachother-- and you can be silent when the sky rises and when it sets, and it’s enough. 

it baffles you and amazes you at the same time because atsumu made even silence enough.

but he chooses to break that when he leans closer to you and wraps his arms around you: your head on his chest and your arms looped with his; it feels nice. 

and when he says, “we just live life now,” you suppose that’s a good idea too.
