🦾 The dual scan protocol 🦾 one very popular approach when acquiring data for treatment plan of fully Edentulous. - make sure the prosthesis or teeth try in is approved by the patient and the VDO is correct. - intimate fit of the intaglio surface is mandatory, temporary reline with a light body PVS can improve that. - radiographic markers or fiduciary should be spread out ( minimal 3, 6 are recommended) - the prosthesis is scanned with the same settings but on a piece of low density foam. - be careful when placing the prosthesis in the patients mouth to minimize possible displacement of the markers. I hope that helps and please share your tips or questions. #digitaldentistry #digitaldentures #implantdentistry #ufcid (at University of Florida Center for Implant Dentistry) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDjM3nTF3ED/?igshid=qf6ga9reeuw3

Some osseous defects are last predictable to overcome than others, and maybe more suitable to bone regeneration techniques that utilize non resorbable membranes. This is well described by @dr.istvanurban and others. Last night it was a first of my carrear as an educator. @wmartingator and I hosted a virtual ITI study club. We worked hard on it and I believe it payed off. It was great to be able to interact with colleagues from around the globe 🌎. I can’t wait to have in person interaction with you all again, but this virtual meetings are much better than nothing. @itisectionusa @itiglobal #ufcid #implanteducation https://www.instagram.com/p/B-fxoP9lesE/?igshid=t0kt69o868vo

— Alginate impression poured with type IV stone.— Analog or digital, the fundamentals are the same. As one of my mentors use to say: “ there is no such thing as JUST a preliminary impression.” Each step is the most important one. It’s all about minimizing errors. #implantdentistry #implanteducation #ufcid #digitaldentistry #analogdentistry (at UF College of Dentistry) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9PYqPdlWsc/?igshid=uewwlah9kdwq

We did a 3 years follow up in this case. The patient had facial/dental trauma with a diagnostic of non restorable central incisors. The literature does not support that the approach taken in this case would give a better esthetic result, but we thought that clinically would make sense, even though it took longer until the final restoration. Steps followed: * Extraction of the worst central incisor and no other procedure at that time. * 8 weeks later placement of implant on that site with contour graft * 10 weeks later loading of that implant, fabrication of a surgical guide and immediate placement of the other central incisor. * 8 weeks later final impression of both implants * clinical and radiographic presentation after 3 years A long road for the patient but everything was done to improve the chances of a long term good outcome. #implantdentistry #implanteducation #ufcid #dentalimplants #dentaltrauma https://www.instagram.com/p/B9IMwWVlpfu/?igshid=4z4ccd5kx1px

Unfortunately sometimes we are too late. Teeth with cracks should be monitored closely and sometimes restored with approaches that can prevent cracks from propagation. This specific case the crack led to bone loss and an abscess. Patient will get an dental implant in the near future. #implantdentistry #crackedtooth #ufcid #crackedtoothsyndrome #verticalfractureoftooth (at University of Florida Center for Implant Dentistry) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9CjVd-HoC1/?igshid=1g6j6hksyv800

We really believe in the importance of developing the tissue in the transition zone. A provisional restoration or custom healing abutment will shape the tissue to the correct contour and the communication of that tissue position with the lab allows for fabrication of restorations with better design that not just look good but actually can be clean and maintain. #implanteducation #digitaldentistry #dentalimplants #ufcid #trios3shape #straumann (at University of Florida Center for Implant Dentistry) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8rQyI1F3AO/?igshid=3kz2nhfbkbzf

Day of delivery is just the beginning for our patients. It’s extremely import to discuss maintenance appointments and educate the patients about how often, what to expect, and how much it will cost. As clinicians we need to prepare for it as well. Here you see the duplication in stone of patient’s final prosthesis and the cross articulation at the final VDO. Keeping cross articulated casts, provisionals, and prosthesis material information will reduce treatment time, streamline the process and cut costs for the future prosthesis maintenance/repair. #implantdentistry #implanteducation #ufcid #hibriddenture #allonfour #prosthodontics (at University of Florida Center for Implant Dentistry) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8HJeTNloyE/?igshid=xkbxw7thala1

My turn to help. Orthodontic team was concerned about the thin tissue and recessions. Prior ortho movement, acellular dermal matrix graft for phenotype modification and coronal advancement. Tunnel technique used to minimize the risk of interproximal hight loss of the papillae. #orthodontics #prosthodontics #periodontics #tissueregeneration #ufcid (at University of Florida Center for Implant Dentistry) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7bjMhblcIe/?igshid=7qlajn4x9rrz

Developing the transition zone with a well contour provisional restoration is one key step. Transferring that tissue position to the lab technicians is another. I’m excited to share some of these during the @acprosthodontists digital symposium and equally thrilled about the 2020 collaboration with my friends @dr.adam_hamilton and @newtonsesma. #digitaldentistry #implantdentistry #prosthodontics #implanteducation #ufcid (at University of Florida Center for Implant Dentistry) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7XFCE7FzAO/?igshid=4tyfenwwbsx5

Mirrorless cameras are a reality that I could not no longer avoid. Having fun playing with flash and lens combinations...The Nikon Z50 with 85mm macro lens and Metz ring flash show promise for clinicians looking for a light weight set up. The 2nd option is heavier using the Owl bracket and Meike twins. Follow @dentist.camera for more, he is the trailblazer of mirrorless cameras in dentistry. #dentalphotography #macrophotography #implanteducation #ufcid (at University of Florida Center for Implant Dentistry) https://www.instagram.com/p/B53G3ejFrVk/?igshid=1la8k65an0svf

It’s important to recognize that some of the natural contours of teeth due not apply for dental implants. The critical and subcritical contours of a dental restoration can influence the esthetics and the thickness of the soft tissue surrounding the implant. #dentalimplants #ufcid #implanteducation #criticalcontours (at University of Florida Center for Implant Dentistry) https://www.instagram.com/p/B5qY8UFFgtN/?igshid=iiig1rt4ioik
