I just watched the Upside-Down Magic disney movie and I have COMPLAINTS.

Where are Bax and Sebastian

Pepper's trait is wrong

i can see Butters enjoying the Upside Down Magic book series. It’s basically a book series where everyone has magic that bubbles up at the age of ten and there are five different magics. Flares, who have fire magic, Flickers, who can turn things invisible, Flyers, who can fly, Fuzzies, who can talk to animals, and Fluxers who turn into animals. The stories follow a group of kids who are ‘Upside down’, meaning they have magic but it isn’t typical magic. I.e. there’s a kid who freezes stuff, a kid who turns into objects instead of animals, and the protagonist, Nory, who turns into mixed up animals. (Like a kitten with dragon wings, or a puppy with squid tentacles).

I can see Butters enjoying a book series like this because it’s about self discovery and realizing that you don’t always need to do everything and be perfect. Especially not if your family is trying to force you into a ‘box of normal’. I remember loving the book series as a kid, I reread them a while back and can now appreciate that it was probably an allegory for neurodivergency (i.e. one of the boys in the books struggling with constant overstimulation because of his magic, which is basically seeing sound waves and such Also, yes, I really like the autistic Butters hc)

So anyway. That’s my rambling for the day. I wish there were more book UDM fans. The books are genuinely pretty good. I have no shame. They were good when I was seven and they’re still good now. Just a little food for thought.

I love the shitty metaphors in this series. "Upside down magic classes" being special ed classes. The Dregg toys getting banned to mirror the time fidget toys got banned at schools bc they got too mainstream and neurodivergent kids suffered the most from it. Also the fact that the kids with "upside down magic" are just neurodivergent kids. I fucking love these books dude they're so real

Holomisa to Take Pic Corruption Claims to Parly After Court Gagged Him

Bantu Holomisa claimed in an open letter to President Cyril Ramaphosa that various companies and individuals had links to the Public Investment Corporation (PIC) which put government employees’ pensions at risk.

While the High Court in Pretoria has gagged United Democratic Movement (UDM) leader Bantu Holomisa from repeating corruption allegations involving the Lebashe Investment Group and prominent business people, he says he’ll raise his concerns in Parliament.

The political leader claimed in an open letter to President Cyril Ramaphosa that various companies and individuals had links to the Public Investment Corporation (PIC) which put government employees’ pensions at risk.

Lebashe Investment’s Warren Wheatley, who was among the applicants, says there is no truth to Holomisa’s claims and he’s welcomed the court order gagging the UDM leader.

“He’s prevented from continuing to defame us in the absence of proof or any evidence.”

But Holomisa says his concerns remain unresolved.

“… He questions as to what is the relationship between these companies and the money of the workers’ pension."

Bax: (MY BOY ‼️🫶) upside-down Fluxer (I also headcanon that he’s an upside-down Flicker as well, with the whole being able to turn stuff into stone thing from the second book. Originally it was a side-effect but as he got older he learned to do it on command), aroace, half Indian and half Filipino

Marigold: Fitter, pan, Spanish (I also headcanon she can speak English, Spanish, and ASL!)
