Uber Eats and British Nutrition Foundation
Uber Eats has announced that it has teamed up with the British Nutrition Foundation as part of its commitment to help tackle obesity and improve the accessibility and convenience of healthier options for customers.
Uber Eats has over 60,000 restaurant partners
In the UK, the Uber Eats has over 60,000 restaurant partners regularly delivering millions of meals a week. Uber Eats states it can have a positive impact by motivating customers to make healthier choices on its platform, and by encouraging its restaurant partners to provide these options.
Uber Eats will be working with the British Nutrition Foundation to develop strategies, to encourage restaurants and customers to prepare and select healthier choices. In a recent survey conducted by Uber Eats, almost 70% of small restaurants reported they believe a lack of clarity around what constitutes ‘healthy’ food affects the take up of healthier options by consumers.
Uber Eats Marketing Campaign
Additionally, Uber Eats is planning to roll out a new marketing campaign across its grocery partners, Fresh Mondays, which will offer a 50% discount on selected fruit and vegetables at stores across the country on a Monday.
Matthew Price, Uber Eats UK General Manager accepts the company has a responsibility to help tackle obesity, to help customers make informed choices about the food they eat and also support their restaurant partners in offering a greater range of healthier options.
Elaine Hindal, Chief Executive at the British Nutrition Foundation, said they are pleased to welcome Uber Eats as a corporate member of the British Nutrition Foundation, at a time when their new five-year strategy sets out their intent to help change the food environment through our partner relationships and members.
Food Delivery Apps
Food delivery apps play an increasingly influential role in promoting healthier, more sustainable food options and it hoped that by working together, Uber Eats and the British Nutrition Foundation will develop an evidence-based framework that will support the wide range of Uber Eats’ platform partners to provide healthier choices, possibly leading to other key players in the fast-food industry to follow their lead. Conclusion
This is good news for the industry. It’s not about taking away the consumer's options of eating food that they don’t cook, but making takeout options healthier.
What's your take on takeouts? Do you eat a lot of takeout food, or do you save a takeout for a special occasion? Are you more into healthy food and do you prefer to cook your own version of food as a take-out.
It will be great to hear your thoughts.

Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi delivered for UberEats via bike in late June, and San Francisco's bustling streets apparently didn't take it easy on him. In a wide-ranging interview with The New York Times' Maureen Dowd published on Friday, Khosrowshahi said he was a bit nervous at first about delivering for his ride-hailing company's food-delivery arm, and the city's traffic may have had something to do with it. "I nearly got killed delivering near the baseball park," Khosrowshahi said, referring to Oracle Park, not far from the city's Financial District. "The Giants game was starting, and traffic was nuts. My hypothesis is that someone knew that I'm a Mets fan." . . . Like ❤️ Save 🔐 Share ⬆️ and Comment 💌 . . . Do let me know what do you think in the comments below . How To Launch Your Own UberEats Like App Effortlessly
Tumblr media
Food delivery apps are gaining a lot of popularity in recent times. This is because this sector is posting a double-digit growth rate. With smartphones and the internet becoming very common, more and more people are using these apps to order food.
As an entrepreneur, launching your own platform in 2019 does not need to be a complicated affair. With the help of an app development company, you can build your UberEats like app in no time. However, there are a few things to keep in mind when developing your application.
User-Friendly UI: Keep your platform very clean and crisp to help your customers to navigate between the different screens and features faster.
Referral Program: Reward customers for using your product by having a loyalty system or promo codes. This will help attract new users to the platform.
Schedule Orders: Allow customers to pre-order food that they will receive at a designated time. This is very beneficial for working professionals.
Payment Methods: Include a number of payment options like net banking, credit/debit card, digital wallets, and more to enable easy checkout.
Dine Out Option: This is a new feature where users can prebook a table at a restaurant and visit it at a later date.
AppDupe can help you develop a robust food delivery app that contains the above features and much more. Their services are completely white-labeled that gives you complete control over your product.

Food delivery services have been Godsend to lazy/busy people who just need food delivered to them at the door. If you have the money to spend, you no longer need to get out of the house to have food delivered to your doorsteps.
Of course the quality of the food is only as good as the restaurants that made them. Uber Eats have been a bit of a cult favourite but I found it limiting. I do live in an area with not much on offer and therefore the choices are limiting. The quality of Asian food available is also not as good – more for the Pakeha taste than authentic Asian.
Yes if you can read Chinese, you are in luck! Here’s a few I have explored recently.
GoGo到家: Operates best on WeChat, it provides a similar location recognition services so food delivery and delivery costs are as accurate as it can be. Unlike UberEasts, you can order from a range of restaurants that are outside of your region. It does mean you can pay a lot of money for delivery cost and don’t mind that it takes a bit longer but if you are prepared to pay, they will delivery. The delivery is good and you can also track the status online. You can pay via direct debit or credit card, whatever suits you better. (added bonus – they deliver more than just food, they deliver cake, makeup etc from all partner businesses)
JSS Food: Again have a huge variety of food from different regions of Auckland, but majority of restaurants are CBD based. You can pay by Visa, AliPay, WeChat Pay, Direct Debit, Cash or Eftpos. Super convenient and like GoGo, if you are willing to pay, they are willing to deliver.
EZ Meal: Just like GoGo and JSS Food, delivery from anywhere to everywhere but you can pre-order your food for the next day.  That means if you want to order something for lunch tomorrow, you can do so and you don’t have to wait until the restaurants open on the day to do so. The only downside is they have slightly fewer restaurants.
If you can read Simplified Chinese, the choice seems to be endless. I personally think that the food choice offered by these Chinese e-commerce sites are better than those of UberEats. Now this is a great reason to learn Chinese! 🙂
War on Takeaway Food delivery services have been Godsend to lazy/busy people who just need food delivered to them at the door.
