I just got my mitts on these two days ago, and I am not sure what to think at this point. I won't lie, the denim on these bad boys is pretty decent quality. Despite their $72 price tag (I had a nice promotion code, thanks retailmenot), they have better denim than my Nudie's Slim Jim Dry Japan (not that Nudie's are known for their denims). They have a blue selvedge and a pretty rough, canvassy texture. They are like a better version of the denim used on Levi 501 STFs. I mean, I haven't gone around petting Samurai denim so I don't know the difference... but these definitely have a completely different feel than the Nudie's.

Further inspection led me to find where the low cost probably came from - made in China. Well, Macao to be more specific. I have read many reviews that say both "great value!" and "cheaply made." I figured it was a little bit of both. But my opinion now is more of the latter. The crotch stitches were already coming apart as were the back pockets. The stitching in general looked sloppy. So while the denim seems to be of pretty substantial quality considering the price, the stitching seems very true to the price.

Anyways, as always, choosing a size is a bit ridiculous with jeans when you can't try them on, but the very informative measurements on blueowlworkshop helped me pick the size 29. I tried them on with the tags and they fit a tiny bit tight. But after a 1 hour preliminary soak, as is standard practice for raw denim, they had shrunk (despite being sanforized). I was trying to squeeze into them when the third button flew off.

I had never heard of this happening before. I tried to figure out how to fix it, which of course wasn't possible with these sort of riveted buttons. I sent an email to Unbranded which yielded no reply. I was planning on maybe just buying some new jeans, but then I remembered that the whole point of these was to be an experiment to find my measurements and get a feel for how much they stretch etc... and to be the first pair that I don't bitch out on and wash before I'm supposed to. So at this point I don't even care. They seem to fit alright and are stretching out a bit, so I say f#ck it. I'm just going to wear them until they fall off of me. Then I will take what I've learned and buy something better lol. Anyways, here is the fit pic:
