Adamson Lady Falcons remain hopeful Against UP Fighting Maroons

Adamson University regained their hope after surviving against the University of the Philippines, claiming their victory after 5 sets, 25-17, 23-25, 20-25, 25-23, 15-13, moving forward to the semifinals of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament. The tournament happened on the afternoon of April 13 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Spiker, Jimy Jean “Barbie" Jamili led the Lady Falcons with 16 points in 15 attacks and a block, while May Ann “Mayang” Nuique the middle-blocker of the team delivered 15 points in 11 attacks, three blocks, and a service ace.

The first set kicked off with a block from AdU’s Nuique and Adolfo, shutting down UP’s attack and setting the mood of the game. The Lady Falcons took the lead, claiming the first set with 25-17.

The second set of the game started with Fighting Maroons dominating early in the game, they maintained a steady gameplay and led the scores until the second half of the game. However, the Lady Falcons tried to catch up by trying to make their gameplay possible but failed as the Fighting Maroons secured the second set with 23-25.

UP taking the lead on the service line, starting off the third set of the game didn’t really make an impact as ADU’s matching UP’s aggressive gameplay. Still , the Lady Falcons failed to align their scores with Fighting Maroons, with UP taking another set with 20-25.

The fourth set off with the Fighting Maroons leading early in the game once again setting the mood within the team, However, the Lady Falcons found their way in the game after the Fighting Maroons were caught-off guard with Jamili’s set point attack, securing the fourth set with 25-23.

The Fighting Maroons still tried to keep up, however Adu’s setter, Angelica Alcantara completely shut off their attack—securing the victory for the Adamson Lady Falcons, ending the game with 15-13.
