gmmtv 2022 thoughts;

disclaimer: honestly overall i was more disappointed with this line-up than the one from last year. i think that’s probably my own fault because i don’t have an attachment to any gmmtv actors (apart from maybe mek and victor) so i don’t really anticipate or check out shows solely depending on the actors in them. sorry about that! scroll to the end for a tl;dr on what shows i’m anticipating the most (hint: it’s like only four LMAO).

the three gentlebros: this looks kind of cute! i don’t think i’ll be watching it but i don’t hate it on sight. the cast is pretty interesting and i know a lot of people will be tuning into this because of tay and gun, but i’m not a huge fan of either of them to check the show out solely because they’re in it. i really do like sibling and family relationships though so we’ll see!

u.m.g.: girl idk if i’m stupid but i have literally no clue what it’s about LMAO but i do see my girl namtan so maybe i’ll like this one! the plot seems pretty wild and out there though so that intrigues me! i might watch this one hehe i really appreciate gmmtv branching out with new plots.

star and sky / star in my mind / sky in your heart: IS THAT JOONG? good job to this trailer for starting off with basketball because that reeled me in but it lost me after that. it seems like a walmart atots and honestly i’m so bitter about this one because mek is in it and i really want to watch it for him but it seems so bland and boring ... even though i really wanted mek in more lead roles! i really really think mek has potential and that he deserves more lead roles in series but this just seemed really flat to me and i don’t want to put myself through it. he looks so cute though ... i’m mad.

home school: ripoff gifted my beloved <3 honestly this might be one of the only ones i’ll check out because i miss the gifted and this plot seems incredibly similar. i think it has a lot of potential and the trailer seemed cool! i really appreciate gmmtv branching out with their plots.

cupid’s last wish: at first i was like “awww earthmix” and then i was like “help earthmix??” idk what this is but i hate body swap plots so deeply that i probably won’t check this out. not to shade futs but “from the production team of fish upon the sky” is enough for me to click off LMAO!

oops! mr superstar hit on me: why do we always get age gap romances ... jane looks so cute and good in this but the dude is not giving me a good vibe. sorry jane my girl </3

my dear donovan: this trailer made me laugh out loud HELP the moaning in the beginning? again i don’t care much for the male leads in this but namtan’s character looks so damn cute and i would love to see her interactions with kids as a teacher that i might watch this for the hell of it honestly!

the warp effect: um ... good for new i guess? idk what i just watched but there are lesbians in this so if i end up watching it then it will be for them. super interesting cast especially with fah, who i really adore, so this is one of the shows where the plot is meh but the acting will be good.

the eclipse: again it looks something similar to the gifted or home school! i know some friends are excited about this one because of the cast but personally the trailer didn’t fully grip me. we’ll see, maybe i’ll be feeling more sympathetic by the time the second one rolls out!

good old days: the rollercoaster of emotions i had watching this trailer is indescribable. the cast is truly fucking insane like did somebody roll a die and then pick based on that? like you’ve got fah, aye, tay, namtan, bright, win, thanaerng, pat, prim, and then KRIST? seriously? like... anyway i think this is an interesting concept but i’m curious as to how they’re gonna pull all of this off with so many well-loved actors. i might watch this for tay and aye’s characters because they seem so cute!

never let me go: this shit was BEYOND intense. maybe the only bl from gmmtv i’ll consider checking out next year because the plot seems so interesting! i really like mafia/bodyguard shows so maybe this will appeal to me.

10 years ticket: okay i haven’t seen ANYONE talking about this which makes me scared but i think this is my most anticipated one apart from home school so far like ... it gives me SO MANY ‘a gift to whom you hate’ vibes and the sibling relationships in this are insane? the cast seems solid and it seems to be a very emotionally intense show, which i’m excited to see pulled off! i really like this one omg!!

you fight and i love: ... no words literally. the way i predicted a boxing show and i thought mek and victor would be in it seeing as victor is a professional boxer and mek has a boxing gym and i was right but victor is delegated to a minor role whereas mek is nowhere to be seen... and i would forgive this if it had a good storyline! but it doesn’t! another age gap romance! and love is so cute too like damn ... and i just wish victor had a bigger role because he seems so darn cute in this series and there are so many different routes they could have taken and by GOD would it be so hard to give me mekvic </3 anyway.

midnight series: very strong cast! all three segments looked very interesting and remind me a lot of 3 will be free. i think this is an interesting route for gmmtv to take and it’s directed by my two fave directors p’aof and p’jojo so i’ll definitely check this one out!

vice versa: gmm said we’re gonna give the audience what they don’t want. body swap plots. too many guys in this one and not enough plot sorry </3

p.s i hate you: YES FINALLY!!! A FEMALE-LED CAST! wow this looks so dramatic and over-the-top and so insane but the sisterhood in this is amazing. i’m really excited for this, so many wonderful leading ladies and their characters seem so interesting too. hope they band against all the men <3 hope this actually focuses on the women and doesn’t make it about the men bc the men in this one seem super meh.

my school president: couldn’t even watch the whole trailer it was boring and i’m yawning sorry!

devil sister: again, i didn’t really get much of an idea of the plot in this one. it seems fine but also mediocre; not particularly something i’d consider watching.

you are my favorite: LITERALLY DYING LAUGHING LMAOOO what is this random ass pairing? krist and MIKE? mike i’m so damn sorry you’ve got to be in this with that guy... and mike seems so cute too! not enough for me to like this: plot is weird krist is weird pairing is weird ... again they should have just done a mekvic series god bless. one of these days it WILL happen.

astrophile: mai is so sweet in this but the plot is so bland and seriously, a love triangle between her, off, and bright? girl i’m so sorry LMAO!

my precious: has this nostalgic feel to it that i really like! the cast seems cute and i might check this out if i don’t have anything else to do.

tl;dr: gmmtv is producing a lot of shows with different and more out-there plots this year, which i really appreciate! however, on the whole it was pretty underwhelming for me. the only shows i really am looking forward to are 10 years ticket, the midnight series, home school, and p.s i hate you! u.m.g and my precious also seem cute but are lower on my radar. the only bl i think is worth checking out is never let me go, but apart from that ... hm, the plots didn’t draw me in all that much. disappointing lack of women but we’ve come to expect that from gmmtv!

Here’s my non-sensical, unimportant ramblings about ALL of the GMMTV trailers (pretty lengthy . . . that’s what she said😏):

(also minus Not Me bc it wasn’t part of the line-up but obvi im fucking pumped for it)

(p.s. the ones that are italicized are the BL ones in case you just want to know those instead :) )

“The Three GentleBros” - I’m a sucker for a family comedy drama. I like that there’s a single mom with good intentions but bad executions. The premise of the mom’s expectations (society’s expectations) of what a woman “should” be like for her son in relation to his personality vs what the women who they actually fall for are like? I think there’s potential. I’m more interested in the oldest bro’s love story than the others, mainly because cooking chaos is always adorable. LOVE that ending where the brothers ask themselves why they all look different but they’re brothers?? Amazing. Lots of room to work with, story-wise and character-wise.

“U.M.G.” - #1 on Nanon’s list bc apparently this man doesn’t know when to take a break? This is definitely one of the more bizarre storylines and that’s why I love it? It’s basically about a man who is searching for his long lost childhood sweetheart who disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Things change when he goes out, looking for aliens with a friend and finds her, all grown up and acting . . . different. It’s so weird and feels very “Stranger Things”/”Super 8″ in terms of aliens and a group of friends trying to figure shit out about them, but there’s love on the line? I feel like there’s room to talk about grief and love and I really hope they do. I love that they are branching out and doing more outside of romance/dramas.

“Star and Sky: (...)” - Joong’s first project with GMMTV! YAY! First, I love that it’s a split story with different, yet familiar stories. Easily digestible and dare I say, fundable. “Star in My Mind” is about a guy who leaves for Germany but before he does, he confesses to his crush with no response. Then he comes back years later and meets his crush again but this time this crush is going to pursue him. It’s a simple story, nothing too wild - just cute. “Sky in Your Heart” is about a group of friends who get stranded in rural Thailand and come across a village who give them shelter. One of the guys, a med student, is attracted to the volunteer teacher named Prince. Very “1000 Stars” vibes but with a med student so I’m intrigued.

“Home School” - Gun is gon be a busy guy just like Nanon, love that for them. This series follows a group of kids that end up isolated in a “prestigious school” that their parents did EVERYTHING they can to get them in. It’s got horror elements, mystery vibes, cult-ish vibes, and the rumored student that “disappeared” on campus. It lowkey reminds me of “Tower Prep” without the powers and there’s elevated horror elements. I’m into it, but I think I need another trailer to really sell it. There’s something missing to get me very pumped about the story if that makes sense.

“Cupid’s Last Wish” - Oh boy...so apparently this show is being done by the same people who did FUTS? And it’s a body/gender swap? MMMM...🤔 but EarthMix?? I liked the starting point - EarthMix play close friends who live in the rural area and have a farm and they have arguments about what to name their “boys” (farm animals). If that’s not fucking cute, I don’t know what is. But then it turns into a more serious route where the friends become enemies but one of them ends up in an accident and he swaps bodies with his sister... so now the two men have to find someone to reverse the...spell? Curse? I don’t know what to call it tbh. There’s no doubt that this premise is very iffy but I trust EarthMix. I’m just tired of body/gender swap because there’s almost no nuance to it besides the obvious. (thought ngl it feels very fanfic-y? like off of “1000 Stars”?)

“Oops! Mr. Superstar Hit On Me” - well then . . . this honestly is a classic drama? It follows a young intern as she tries to get an autograph from her mom’s favorite celebrity who is like 20+ years older than her but they both end up sleeping together? I don’t know . . . what to tell you? No one stood out to me, the whole age gap discussion they tried to do didn’t hit because *gasp* an older man with respectability and in the spotlight dating a young woman? As if it doesn’t happen all the time and no one blinks an eye, not really, or if they do, it’s about the young woman, never the man? HMMMM . . .🤔 The only thing I liked about the trailer was that the mom who wanted the autograph sided with her daughter when things got rough against her favorite celebrity. So that’s going for them.

“My Dear Donovan” - cute-ish premise? Honestly, I cared about the kindergarten teacher. I don’t care about the model - his backstory is interesting but not his personality. Basically the teacher becomes the model’s assistant and she’s shy while he’s confident? BUT WAIT - there’s more (but it’s not that interesting to me?)??? Yeah, don’t know what else to tell you.

“The Warp Effect” - let me fucking tell you, that video thumbnail is MISLEADING! I thought it was going to deal with time travel or actions/consequences concept. Nope, it’s about sex and love. It’s about a guy who is a virgin and he tries navigating sex and love but something happens where he wakes up in an alternate universe where things are flipped and he has a gf and has tons of sex??? Dude it’s like “American Pie” trying to be “Sex Education” with a sprinkle of mystery to keep things . . . interesting. . . (I say this with a look of distaste). And the fact that there’s a lesbian character in here . . . (THE ONLY ONE NOTED IN ALL OF THESE TRAILERS - I’M NOT EVEN HALFWAY THROUGH THE LIST!) and in order to see her, I have to deal with . . .whatever is going on in this show. Ugh.

“The Eclipse” - holy shit, now this is what I’m talking about! Khaotung (Longtae in “1000 Stars”) and First (Kim from “The Shipper”)??? As a pairing?? I NEVER WOULD HAVE GUESSED! From the trailer, I think the story is following a prefect who finds the new kid at his school suspicious when a dummy dressed as a student was set on fire and all these weird things are happening at school? I don’t really know because the premise isn’t very strong with conflict and story - I think they relied heavily on the pairing and mysterious school setting to be the foundation of the show when presenting it. The main conflict I see is “perfect prefect no likey mysterious new kid - instant enemies” while the new kid is like some activist in the shadows(?) bc the school is “bad”(?). It’s not a terrible premise - just not enough with the concept of eclipses or further clarity of story. I can stretch and say maybe the prefect is eclipsed by this new kid and things change when their interests and feelings intermingled? But regardless, I hope this gets funded and the story is extensively worked on because I know there’s potential here.

“Good Old Days” - this is going to make me cry, I know it. This follows an antique shop that holds the stories of past lives in the items that were sold into the store. Nothing supernatural about it (I don’t think). So there are 6 different stories about 6 different items. There’s loss, heartbreak, love, and second chances. Lots of familiar faces which I was so happy to see. I’m definitely going to keep my eye out for it.

“Never Let Me Go” - BITCH! DON’T FUCKING TOUCH ME! THIS BETTER GET MADE REAL QUICK! The main actors are the guys from FUTS and they are finally getting the second chance they RIGHTFULLY deserve! This show is so different from FUTS and I fucking love it. Basically it’s about a young man who is distraught about his father’s passing and dealing with secrets revealed about his father. One day his mother brings another young man from the rural area to be her son’s servant/bodyguard/butler? Things get more intense from there: murder mystery, assassination, family secrets, secret love, love triangle, agonized characters, also CHIMON. Holy shit, sign me THE FUCK UP! Everything about this story/concept is so fucking good - it’s like if “3 Will Be Free” had a child, this show would be it.

“10 Years Ticket” - oh look, more familiar faces! :D So this one is also very interesting. It follows two families who were close but then things change when one child from one family kills one of the kids from the other family. Again, murder mystery, lies, betrayal, love triangle/square thingy, agonized characters, also OHM & OFF. This looks really intense and is going to be high-strung with all these characters not knowing who or what to trust and wanting the truth, oh my gods, I’m excited. I just love that GMMTV knows that their audience wants murder mysteries and more gay. Though this show is not gay, unfortunately.

“You Fight and I Love” - unfortunately, this isn’t gay either :( I’m not hyped about this . . . unless they work on its writing. Basically it follows a boxer and his affections towards his best friend’s younger sister (who is still in high school . . . Idk how old the guy is but . . .mmmm) and he got a bit of a jealousy streak to him, great. Look, I love Joss and Love but fuck, this story is not compelling enough. The one thing that gives it possible potential is when Love’s character said something like “Don’t fight for me, fight for yourself” which honestly? She spitting facts. I need more characterization: What does this boxer want? What will fulfill his inner turmoil (besides wanting to bang his bff’s lil sis ugh)? It felt like a deflated “Rocky”/”Creed” and I only bring up those solid movies because those are good and they have boxing. So definitely not excited for this.

“Midnight Series: Midnight Motel” - 1st in the Midnight Series which I can confidently say may become my fav series in 2022 because holy shit. Check it, this story follows a janitor/motel employee(?) and a call girl as they try to find a fast way to make millions of dollars with a crudely made app designed for call girls to pick up more clients? (no solid clue if that’s the app’s actual purpose) Ultimately the way this show is filmed, I don’t really care how weird the story sounds from my mouth, because it looks so fucking good! The contrast of lights, the dynamics of characters, the concept! Also OFF wearing a baseball cap! It looks good! NGL I thought he was going to be a hacker but it’s all good, I’m excited nonetheless.

“Midnight Series: Moonlight Chicken” - 2nd story in Midnight Series. DO NOT BE PHASED BY THIS TITLE! It is one of its charms. This story follows a cook owner of a Chinese fusion restaurant that meets a young man down on his luck and love and they decide to start an affair (because that young man is actually in another relationship? *gasp* cheating :/ ) There is so much going for this story and I fucking love it. It gives me severe “I Told Sunset About You” vibes but adult and I’m happy that it’s actually going more mature/adult routes and themes. I wonder how they will handle the cheating, the bankruptcy of the restaurant, the side plots, and omg did I mention that FIRST is in it? AH! I’m so excited :D

“Midnight Series: Dirty Laundry” - 3rd story in Midnight Series. HOLY SHIT! #2 on Nanon’s list! I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS ONE. Basically it follows this girl who cares for a laundry mat and she’s in love with this one guy (Nanon, obvi) but her “love” goes too far when she breaks into his house and steals his money and then promptly loses it. Now him and her have to work together to figure out which person who frequents the laundry mat could’ve stolen the money or else he gets his ass handed to him by his very scary (but also hot) girlfriend-not-girlfriend? I probably summarized it horribly but trust me, it looks fucking good. I cannot get over the fact that it has a great balance of comedy and drama and the setting is genius AND P’JENNIE IS IN IT! :D

“Vice Versa” - HOLY SHIT I AM SO FUCKING EXCITED FOR THSI ONE - REMEMBER HOW I SAID IM TIRED OF BODY SWAPS? WELL IG IM A HYPOCRITE CUZ THIS IS THAT. But hear me out, this story follows a young man who swaps bodies with another man (played by Ohm - cameo) in an alternate world? And in order to get back home, he has to find a “portkey”, a person from his world to link him up to return together. Now guess who the fuck is this guy’s portkey? Another young man in the body of someone (played by Nanon - cameo - #3)! What is even more interesting is that in order to not draw attention, these men have to maintain their bodies’ lives and soon the question of “taking over a life that doesn’t belong to you” comes into play while also falling in love! The FLAVOR! THE SPICE! OH MY GODS FUCKING AMAZING, DO NOT FUCKING TOUCH ME! Definitely a lot more engaging with the body swap than “CLW”, okay? So end of discussion.

“P.S. I Hate You” - okay, this is high-end elite drama and I am living for it! It’s got back-stabbing friends, a sex scandal, deceit, murder mystery and a main female cast. When I watched this trailer, my jaw was dropped the entire time, so much was happening! Basically a young woman is getting married when a sex tape gets leaked on her wedding day and being so distraught she dies by su*cide and now it’s up to her friends to figure out if someone backstabbed her or if there’s another person who wanted to ruin her life while also dealing with their own problems. Every woman in this show is so interesting and it reminded me so much of old Pinoy telesyres like damnnn! Also can we talk about those bridemaids’ dresses? 😍

“My School President” - this gives me nostalgia vibes. This follows a young man who became president of the music club but has to face the school president wanting to shut it down. In order to save the club, he has to be a page boy to the school president but then things change when feelings come into play, ooohhh. Honestly, I hope they focus on the school memories or friendships or the nostalgia vibes and let the love story unfold organically because they got a good concept here. Nothing too wild or intense, just a couple of kids who want to make their senior year the best it can be and if they fall in love along the way then fuck it! It’s easy-going compared to the other turbulent dramas on the list so that’s good.

“Devil Sister” - this one is iffy for me. I got excited in the beginning because oh! Win! But then the story kept unfolding and I was getting less and less into it. From my understanding, it follows Win’s character as a veterinarian who thinks women are complicated but he still falls for the girl next door but things get messy when the girl’s sister wants revenge on her? I don’t think I summarized it well, but that’s the vibe it gave me? Like I said, not very exciting for me. Maybe I would’ve liked it better if it was in her perspective than the boy’s. Also the whole love square thing is eh, not flavorful.

“You Are My Favorite” - dude, did anyone expect Krist to do another BL? And with someone who is NOT Singto???? Because I sure as hell did NOT! But fuck, this concept is pretty good ngl. Basically we follow a young man who is wreaked with heartbreak after hearing that this girl he’s been in love with for YEARS is getting married to his love rival. One day he finds a device that travels back in time and he uses it to stop her from falling for the love rival. But when he gets back to his own time, the results of his meddling revealed that HE ended up with the LOVE RIVAL instead. I really, really like this concept. It’s fresh, unique, and has lots of potential for growth. It has Ave! My girl! And Mike! My dude! It reminds me a lot of “About Time” which I absolutely ADORE so I can only hope they do the story right.

“Astrophile” - kdrama vibes - that’s it. No, but really. That’s the vibe. It follows a young man who’s been in love with this girl since high school. When he sees her again, he does what he can to get her to fall in love with him. But there’s obstacles in his way; one of which is a close friend of hers who is ALSO in love with her. Does this not sound like a kdrama? They really going for a love triangle and second lead syndrome. I am so READY for it! And the painful part is: OFF is going to be 2nd lead!! ;0; I’m only going to be watching it for him, that’s it. I love romantic angst of unrequited love, I don’t know why, but I do. Also the highlight of the trailer was when the girl was talking to her friend and was like “do you think anyone would be interested in me?” UHM DAVIKA? HAVE YOU SEEN YOURSELF? OH MY GODS!

“My Precious” - #4 on Nanon’s list! This one is very cute and charming and awwww <3 We follow a group of rowdy boys who all like the same girl (but they are actually chill about it??) But the rowdiest of them all (Nanon) gets into trouble that his crush has to basically babysit him at school so he doesn’t get into trouble. This begins the start of a bumpy, youthful journey to first love. Ohm and Chimon is in here and just the three of them being in a drama together gets me very antsy to see what they’ll bring to the table. I won’t lie, it’ll be interesting to see Nanon play a rowdy character because the characters I’ve seen him as are relatively tame so . . . 👀 I think it’ll be a short-ish drama because there’s only so much they can stretch this concept unless they want to add possibly “unnecessary” drama like toxic jealousy, sinking lies, betrayals, scandals, heartbreak, friendship break-ups - which honestly lessen how soft this show can really be. Like I’m not saying they can’t add this stuff, but I don’t know if they will moderate how much they add, you know?

So here is my exhaustive thoughts about these shows for GMMTV 2022′s line-up. I am terrified and apparently the trailer for F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers is coming out tomorrow so, fuck me, I’ll have to add that thought to this list or make my own separate post. Guess we’ll see. ...oh shit... tomorrow is Bad Buddy day... fuck....

First of all, the title… Why? Is it the translation? Probably, but man my soul cringed! Anyway, plot-wise the show doesn’t seem like something new, and honestly I get it, sometimes you have to recreate stuff and make them better? Will this be the deal for this show? I don’t know. Do I want to know? Maybe…

Listen, I like every single member of the cast here and to be honest I don’t hate the ships as well. Luke and Mook look amazing, Tay and Punpun look cute, Gun and Bimbeam look cute as well and Mam playing the mother looks like a dream come true for this! We all know GMMTV trailers can be a big ass lie especially since we all know that the first trailer they do is mainly to promote the show and to attract sponsors. Do I need to remind yall how different the 1st and official trailers look like? Of course no.

Would I watch it? Yes, probably

Why would I watch it? Mainly because I want to be supportive.

Well hello there people that I already saw like a few minutes ago! So Nanon, Sing, Drake, Milk and Namtan will play in this. Can’t say again it’s a completely new concept but I see how it could get interesting. It does look mysterious and do we like mysterious stuff? YES WE DO! It also looks like it’s gonna get scary and scary is my thing!

Also pairing up Nanon with Milk is like GMMTV saying us that Bad Buddy is a joke but I’ll let it slide because the whole cast is extremely talented and they deserve the world.

Would I watch it? Yes.

Why would I watch it? Because I’m a Nanon simp. Sorry not sorry.

Star in my mind

Well well well it’s our boy Joong with his first series after he signing with GMMTV. Dunk I don’t know, which totally makes sense since I’ve seen him in like 2 scenes in Bad Buddy (?) but I guess time to remember his name. To be honest, I’m not that excited for this one, it’s nothing new plot-wise but I guess they could turn this around…

Would I watch it? Eh, yes, probably.

Why would I watch it? Because I’m a Mek simp. I don’t need to explain this.

Sky in your heart

MEK IN A BL???? ATOTS 2.0???? WHAT???

Okay okay… Mek is like the last person I would expect to be a lead in a BL, don’t ask me why, it’s just what I believe. I looked up Mark and it looks like this will be his acting debut so kudos and good luck~

I’m happy to see Mike and Arm it this, it feels like they will take off some of the emotional tension, we know them, we love them, end of story.

Plot-wise again, nothing new but why does this look good to me? It could be Mek, it could be the ATOTS hype, I don’t know. But I definitely like this more than Star in my mind. Also after watching this one I realized that my heart can be anywhere but my soul will always be in Phu Phan Dao…

Would I watch it? YES.

Why would I watch it? Reason No. 1 Mek, Reason No. 2 I miss ATOTS.

ok my review post is too long so im just gonna do a list here of shows from best to worst (aka which ones i'll watch and which ones i won't)

the ones i'll Definitely watch: u.m.g., home school, the eclipse, midnight series: midnight motel, midnight series: dirty laundry, p.s. i hate you

the ones i'll Maybe watch: cupid's last wish, the warp effect, never let me go, midnight series: moonlight chicken, vice versa, my precious (just because it's a movie and it'll be So hard to find it full AND eng subbed)

the ones i'll Definitely won't watch: the rest lmao there's too many im not typing all of them djdhsjdn

just wanna get my thoughts down on the 2022 lineup, don't mind me lol.

to summarize, the dramas i look forward to from this lineup:

p.s. i hate you

home school

midnight series (dirty laundry, midnight motel, moonlight chicken in that order)

honorable mention: vice versa

the lineup didn't really do it for me this year, let's just say that.

three gentle bros: gmmtv giving their series weird names part 1. I dont mind the idea of this one, but nothing really stood out to me. I think it's in part how blandly the trailer was shot, but it can't be helped, it was probably done last minute.

u.m.g: interesting cast, cool concept, but I dont think they'll do anything with it to interest me. It would be interesting if she is just an alien doppelganger trying to impede on the girl's life for this or that purpose and the actual girl escapes later on. tho i get the feeling that i want a horror/thriller from this and gmmtv wants a romance, their own my love from the star junior.

star and the sky: literally why was this 8 minutes long lol? it doesn't seem like a complicated drama, they could've done the job in 3 minutes.

home school: one of the dramas i actually look forward to. like yeah it's another younger sibling of the gifted, it has the same vibes (and the cast overlap alone raises an eyebrow), but there's nothing wrong with that since there's a lot that can be done with this set up. if it's even half as good as the gifted (s1) it will be worth the watch.

cupid's last wish: I only really like body swap dramas if they're comedies with no romance. It can work with romance, like in your name, but generally I'm not a fan. Especially not ones where person A goes I to person B's body and falls in love with person B's s/o, pass.

oops! mr. super star hit on me: I like jane, and that's really all I liked about this drama, next.

my dear donovan: I like namtan but this really has no appeal to me. The trailer felt like they're still deciding on what they want this drama to be and how they should combine certain elements they want in it.

warp effect: people were talking about a crack drama with fah in it and i knew immediately this was the one they were talking about lol. chaotic dramas can be fun but idk about this one. i had subs on and i still didn't really know what was going on

the eclipse: the trailer for this one was super messy, i can only grasp that there's a school setting with supernatural elements, not to keen on this one.

good old days: i think this one would work best as an anthology series rooted in the antique shop and a romance between the owner and the woman who comes in that develops over the course of the series. I get the feeling they'll go for something like that (one off stories each ep) or it may get too messy with all the different plot threads. It would be interesting if either the woman or the shop owner had psychometry and through that is how we see the stories of the objects, but I doubt it

never let me go: reminds me of what wyel might've been with more episodes and a budget big enough to have high stakes. it probably has one of the better trailers, but currently I don't think it's for me though it does have some promise.

10 years ticket: you can tell every one is gonna be acting their hearts out in this one. I'm usually not one for super intense dramas with no levity or comedy so I might skip this one, but it looks like a promising melodrama with talent behind it.

you fight, and i love: i knew joss was the lead before they even showed him, it's super predictable that if gmm is doing a boxing drama, he would be the lead. tho the moment it clicked with me that they paired love with their tallest actor sbndjs. the height difference is terrifying ngl lol. the actual plot and romance seem pretty bland where joss' character is gonna act super possessive and jealous for no reason. it is 2021, we have moved past the need for these types of bland plots

midnight series: interesting, i do wonder what the connective tissue is for these being a series since the tone varies between them. maybr the neon lighting? lol

midnight motel: I'm interested in this one, it seems like it'll be balancing between comedy and and a darker tone. I may just play it by ear with this one since it does look interesting, but I can think of a million ways they could fuck this one up.

moonlight chicken: gmmtv giving their series weird names part 2. This one appeals to me the least of the three, but I havent written it off completely. tbh i was quite interested in it initially with the restaurant plot, but then the cheating plot kicked in. I'll keep an eye out for it, but I'll once again be playing it by ear.

dirty laundry: is it weird that I look forward to this one the most out of the three? lol. I think it's because the premise is rather non-threatening. It's a more out there, chaotic plot that seems to have comedy as it's central focus, so it's less likely to disappoint than the other two (unless it's just not funny in any way I guess). so i'll probably watch it once it airs.

vice versa: another body swap drama. tho the strength of this plot is that they are two unrelated people swapping bodies with a different set of people they've never met and they have a romance with each other knowing the other isn't in their actual body. a bit convoluted, but oddly that set up doesn't bother me so i might check it out, and though they didn’t really get into it, I find the whole “I literally can’t go back unless you also go back” plot interesting. go back where? and why are they thethered to each other? it has potential for interesting world building, i may check it out to see what they do. also jimmy seems like a promising actor in bad buddy so I'm curious to see how he does in a lead role. also hilarious how nanon and ohm are paired in another bl together, but also: no they're not LOL.

p.s. i hate you: I am here for this drama, I will definately be watching once it airs. I love the cast and the plot. I'll try to go in with low expectations as usual, but someone I follow mentioned it could have pretty little liars vibes and I'd honestly love that. obviously it's different from pll but the whole "group of 5 girls tangled in a web of their own lies and they can't trust anyone not even each other" love that.

my school president: i'm so sorry, this one was so milk toast basic that i zoned out less than 30 seconds in, next.

devil sister: a noona romance i think? it seems like a very basic m/f romance with nothing special going on. The chemistry between the leads wasn't enough to sell me even though that's all the trailer had to go on. other than win being a popular actor. no shade but I do wonder if they're gonna make him cry in every drama he's in since he's pretty good at it lol. anyway, next.

you are my favorite: this was my first time seeing mike without the beard and mustache and so I was thrown off for the entire trailer, doubting my own senses the entire time lol. I found the concept interesting, but it's disappointing that he's trying to completely alter reality JUST in the pursuit of romancing someone lol. wouldn't it be funny if whatever deity gave him that snowglobe was just messing with him and he could only reset time but not actually change anything? lol. anyway, intereting concept, don't know that I'll end up watching it though.

astrophile: woow a girl who thinks she's nothing special but somehow ends up in a love triangle with two handsome men? never seen one of those before. let it be known that if I watch this, it is for toptap and kapook only. lord give me the strength i need not to watch a questionable drama just for toptap and kapook, not again. how is this the only drama either of them have next year for gmmtv, help

my precious: I knew this already but this trailer made my reflect on how much gmmtv loves to put nanon, ohm, chimon, and drake (and frank) in the same dramas lol. it's like they write a youth drama and then spin the wheel that they keep in the gmm writers' room with all their names on it and do casting based off that. I mean there was nothing else to think about while watching this trailer. It's another coming of age first love drama with nothing that makes it especially stick out. I like what I've seen of film's character, but other than that, meh.

Meh lineup in general, sometimes the final trailer looks better than the announcement trailer so who knows. I hope they get it together in pre production bc a lot of the trailers felt like they were still in early pre production, still trying to figure out a tone for the story when they were told to film a trailer. It really felt like they were spreading themselves thinner than usual with filming all of these trailers, so I feel like the final trailers will be more dissonant from the announcement trailers than usual.

Bonus thoughts:

it's been said by everyone but again. another year, another gmmtv line up with no gl in sight. do i even trust them to make a good one at this point? hm. I'm getting close to taking anything at this point /sigh

I know it's expected that gmmtv dramas have a lot of overlap with their actors, but I felt like i saw jan, aye, and fah a lot more than the other actors? could just be me, but either way, yes ladies get your coin. and nanon is in like...5 dramas lol? i don't even wanna know what his schedule looks like in 2022 if all these dramas actually air in the same year. I'm happy some if the actors get a lot of work and get their coin, but on the flip side it's unfortunate other actors barely get to be in any dramas.
