these quotes from rian johnson are exactly why i loved breaking bad so much and stopped watching the w*lking d**d after they fully admitted to needlessly and brutally killing off characters to drive the story forward/service other characters/upset their audience

#it shows respect for your viewers when u take their perception into consideration beyond viewership #u don’t bash glenn’s brains in on screen and and linger on it and his pregnant wife’s reaction and expect me to keep watching #like it was fully transparent to me then that any emotional investment in these characters was just going to be punished and utilized to #get reactions and make the other characters a little sad for one episode #i felt the same when noah died #there are no stakes and there’s no chance of me giving a fuck about what happens in the story when you treat your audience with such cruelty #and you treat your characters as if their arcs and emotions mean absolutely nothing #same goes for like. supernatural #like why would i fucking care anymore about what you have to say after the same character dies and comes back for the trillionth time?#oh it speaks
