Crossplay Love is super cute. But it's hard to believe as bl bc Hana is so incredibly transgender.

I THINK ABOUT THIS ALL THE TIME.... I think both are easily interpreted as trans but Hana is SO trans from the getgo - she does make a point to act different from "Hanae" but it's also clear she's so much happier and feels lighter overall as Hana; she has such a warped view of her "guy self" as being ugly and disgusting; Even as early as volume one she pictures herself doing something for Mei (making cookies) as "Hanae" and gets so distressed by the image. Plus unlike with Shuumei, there's no external excuse for this beyond it's a 'hobby' that brings her great joy (not that Shuumei doesn't find enjoyment, but it wasn't such a natural fall into the situation either).

Hana clearly time and again illustrates a sense of detachment between her "boy self" and "girl self", and how she views each - as well as how easily her mood can be uplifted in each - are as different as night and day.

I don't know if this would ever be achievable but I'd love if the series could end with Hana being able to entirely transition at least socially and live her best life (with Mei ofc). Even if not though I can't see her any other way than a trans girl through and through
