Need ppl 2 realize theres a difference between queerbaiting and just straight up fucking lying lmao. Real ppl cant queerbait bc they arent consumable content. Can real people exploit the queer community and culturally appropriate shit ? Yes. Can they feed into a queer/androgynous persona for brownie points (harry styles) ? Yes. Can they lie about being queer (nicki minaj) ? Yes. But that is not fucking queerbaiting. Call it what it is. Queerbaiting is what occurs a specific instance of media trying to gain more viewers or short-term fans by implying or stating outright that there will be queer rep and content to consume and then not following through. People are not consumable content, its not a catch-all term and acting like this trendy important sounding term is a catchall actually removes nuance rather than adding any.
