“Ah, is that you, mon amour?”

You stop in your tracks, biting back the grin that threatens to spill over your lips. It’s hard to restrain the giddiness in your chest, and the sheer joy that overwhelms you when you hear his voice. The feeling is almost overpowering, but settles in your heart so perfectly, filling a gap you never knew was there.

When you hear him next, it’s right by your ear, his breath tickling the side of your face.

“Hello, my love.” Lyney whispers, sliding an arm around your waist. He kisses your cheek, keeping his face pressed to yours. “What a surprise this is…”

“I wasn’t expecting to see you today.” You say, truthfully. You were busy with errands, hurrying yourself from one corner of Fontaine to the next, and he was supposedly practicing for a show later that night.

“Neither was I. How lucky I am, to see you anyway!” Lyney hums, lacing your hands together. The casualness of his actions, the soft touches and the gentle affection make your heart flutter.

The feeling of being in love never quite compares to the feeling of being loved. There wasn’t a moment in your day where you didn’t feel the latter, and Lyney made sure of it. He was more than anything  you could have wanted in a partner; doting when you were upset, willing to give you space when you needed it, romantic without even trying, and never one to hide just how much he adored you.

If he could give you the world, you knew he would do it in a heartbeat. You had him wrapped right around your finger, a fact that he was never ashamed to admit. There was no shame in how he felt, how you made him feel.

“Did you want to get lunch, while you’re out?” Lyney asks, absently rubbing his thumb along the side of your hand. He brought your joined hands to his lips, pressing a kiss to your knuckles. “We could go to that cafe you like–my treat, of course.”

Of course, he thought of you first. Why wouldn’t he? You were his first thought in the morning, and the last thought before he fell asleep. It was only natural for his mind to drift to what you preferred, rather than himself. 

“Sure.” You smile at him, face slightly flushed. No matter how long you’re together, he's always able to make you feel like a lovesick teenager again.

It was almost uncanny, how perfectly he fit into your life, and how perfect you fit into his. You were never one to believe in soulmates, but if you did, you were certain that he was the closest that you would ever get to one. The way he spoke to you so sweetly, the way you made his eyes light up, the way neither of you felt so complete until you had each other, there was no doubt about it.

Cliche, some may call it, but you’d just call it love.

“Oh, while I have you here, I have to ask.” Lyney pauses. “Will you come to my show tonight?”

“Your show?” 

“Yes.” He kisses the corner of your mouth, whispering the words against your lips. “It’s not the same without you there, and I have a seat reserved just for you.”

“Okay,” You say breathlessly, as he captures your mouth with his own. You can feel him smile against your lips, the kiss tasting like victory.

You might have him wrapped around your finger, but he certainly had you wrapped around his too.
