Quick e-begging thread
Will delete when the situation has ended:
My fiance has recently had a surgical procedure done in an attempt to diagnose some chronic medical issues that have been making their life hell since childhood. Since they are not a US citizen yet (we're working on it!), they are not able to be on my insurance, which means we need to handle the whole thing out of pocket. The procedure went fine, and we paid for it, but now we are running up against the wall of pathology costs, and additional office visits, and prescriptions... and my other partner needs a crown put in their tooth, which is another $1500 or so since their dental insurance thinks root canaling + crowning their totally dead, infected tooth is "non-essential".
And that's not even getting started on all the dental work my fiance will need, which we haven't even begun with yet.
As the primary breadwinner for the polycule, this leaves it to me to cover all these costs, and we're beginning to have to make budget cuts in order to be able to make rent at the end of the month. We're not going to starve nor are we going to get into any permanent hole, but I'd prefer to not eat only white bread for a couple of weeks.
IF AND ONLY IF you have some money to spare to help me and my polycule handle the budget, it would be greatly appreciated. We should be fine in a couple of weeks, so don't drive yourself crazy over it, but the more I can save up the easier it is for us to handle the array of medical treatments we all need. I've been putting off my own stuff, like replacing my 8-year-old wheelchair, to handle the polycule's needs and I'd like it if money wasn't *quite* so tight at the moment.
Thanks!

I have spend the past few days dying because of severe acute tooth pain. Legitimately convinced that this shit would be an extremely effective easy torture method, I'd rather break a bone over this shit ngl. That said what type of whump senerios do you think could come out with teeth as the focus?
Teef!! TEEF!!!!
We have the classic, the holy grail, of Whumper using pliers to pull out Whumpee's teeth for a myriad of reasons. Talking back? Biting? Making room for tubes to be shoved down their throat? The possibilities are truly endless, and of course, bonus points if the pliers are rusty <3
Whumpee losing a tooth from some kind of mouth trauma (a punch, a boot to the face, etc) is one thing. But what if that tooth only cracked? What if it chipped? Not only are they going to have to deal with the pain of an exposed nerve and jagged edge constantly being touched by their tongue, but literally anything is going to aggravate it. Food and water included. Yikes.
I've mentioned it before in my "gross and messy" whump post, but just general neglect would be enough of a catalyst for tooth pain. Months without brushing and constant vomiting can lead to rot and decay, which can lead to a further infection of the entire mouth. Whumpee practically feeling certain teeth disintegrate, spitting out blood and pus until finally they can pull out a blackened dead tooth from their inflamed gum for relief.
Got a vampire Whumpee? Why don't you just file those pointy chompers down, just in case :)
After Whumpee is rescued (or if...) and they finally get the care they need, they'll have to make peace with the fact their mouth is full of gaps that would cost a fortune in dental work to repair. And maybe they do and get the crowns or dentures they need. And maybe they don't. The one constant being they have to live with being self conscious over an imperfect smile. Not that they have much to smile about anymore to begin with.
This is purely aesthetic but I love the idea of a Whumper purposely replacing their own canine teeth with gold incisors to look extra menacing when they grin. Do as you will with that.
More aesthetic style, less scenario-based but:
Whumper with a mouth full of fangs that love to dig into Whumpee's skin
Teeth indentations all over Whumpee's body
Whumpee snarling with their teeth stained red from the blood pooling in their mouth
Spitting a tooth out, unperturbed by the hit
Open mouth gags being used on Whumpee that show their teeth on full display
Feral/Traumatized/Rescued Whumpee absolutely using biting as a defense on anyone that comes near them, including Caretaker
Whumpee with arms and hands full of scarred over bitemarks from where they've had to chomp down on their own skin to muffle their cries

Mutual Aid Request 🥲
I hate to do this, especially since I am no one and I do not create content or really provide anything in any online space anymore, but I don't know really what else to do and I have a very small support network irl.
The short of it is: I need $3,400 worth of dental work and I risk jaw infections and other equally horrible things if I can't get all of this done in a timely manner.
The long of it is: After suffering a prolonged mental breakdown, I'm unemployed and in college full time for an environmental science BS specializing in biology. School takes up quite literally all of my time because it is so intensive. My fiance supports both of us but just barely and we are very low income. I don't have dental insurance.
My credit card is nearly maxed from medical expenses, gas, groceries, things for my pets, and other living expenses since I don't have income and try to pay for what I can so I don't pile things on my fiance. I do have $500 in care credit available I plan to use and my grandparents have graciously offered to help me pay that back once payments start.
I am type 2 diabetic so I'm also immunocompromised and at higher risk of infection complications.
I am already missing 4 teeth due to prior extractions and now two of my wisdom teeth are sideways and one of those is broken at the gumline, causing extreme pain and infection. I've already taken a round of antibiotics I had to shell out $140 for at a minute clinic and have to urgently get the broken wisdom tooth and the molar next to it extracted (today, 10/5) for $550 to stop infection spread and pain.
The rest of the $3,400 cost is other extractions, fillings, one crown, bone grafts for my jaw, deep cleaning, and because I will be missing so many teeth, partial dentures to maintain bite alignment and the ability to eat normally.
This price is on the lowest sliding scale schedule at a low income clinic and I was originally quoted double this before I proved I have no income. So this is the lowest price and most financial assistance they can give me.
I don't like being this vulnerable online about my life or health and I don't expect this to pick up much traction, but I'm at somewhat of a loss of what else to do.
Sharing is extremely appreciated. Take care of yourselves and each other.

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots that provide a strong foundation for fixed or removable replacement teeth. This section delves into the types of dental implants available and their benefits over traditional tooth replacement options.
Types of Dental Implants
Endosteal Implants: These implants are surgically placed directly into the jawbone and are the most common type of dental implant.
Subperiosteal Implants: Placed on top of the jawbone, beneath the gum tissue, these implants are suitable for patients with insufficient bone height.
Benefits of Dental Implants
Enhanced Aesthetics: Dental implants look and feel like natural teeth, restoring your smile and confidence.
Improved Oral Health: Unlike dental bridges, implants do not require altering adjacent teeth, preserving overall dental health.
Longevity: With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime, making them a cost-effective solution in the long run.
The Dental Implant Procedure
At Dental Treatment Turkey, the dental implant procedure is conducted with precision and care to ensure optimal results for every patient.
Initial Consultation
During the initial consultation, the dental specialist evaluates the patient's oral health and discusses treatment options, addressing any concerns or questions.
Implant Placement
Using advanced technology and techniques, the dental implant is surgically placed into the jawbone, serving as a sturdy foundation for the artificial tooth.
Osseointegration
Over the following weeks, the implant fuses with the jawbone through a process called osseointegration, ensuring stability and durability.
Placement of Abutment and Prosthesis
Once osseointegration is complete, an abutment is attached to the implant, and a custom-made prosthesis, such as a crown or bridge, is affixed, restoring the patient's smile.
Post-Operative Care
Proper post-operative care is essential for ensuring the success and longevity of dental implants. This section provides valuable insights into post-operative care practices.
Follow-Up Appointments
Patients are advised to attend follow-up appointments to monitor the healing process and address any concerns promptly.
Maintaining Oral Hygiene
Maintaining excellent oral hygiene through regular brushing, flossing, and dental check-ups is crucial for the long-term success of dental implants.
Avoiding Hard Foods
In the initial stages of recovery, patients should avoid hard or sticky foods that could potentially damage the implant site.
Regular Dental Visits
Routine dental visits allow the dental specialist to assess the health of the implant and surrounding tissues, ensuring early detection of any issues.

Professional Teeth Whitening vs. At-Home Teeth Whitening: Which is Right for You?
Tumblr media
A bright, dazzling smile is often associated with good health, confidence, and vitality. However, over time, various factors can cause teeth to become discoloured, leading many people to seek out teeth-whitening solutions. In this blog, we'll delve into the causes of discoloured teeth, how teeth whitening works, its effectiveness, and the differences between professional teeth whitening and at-home teeth whitening options.
Causes of Discolored Teeth
Before diving into teeth whitening methods, it's essential to understand what causes teeth to become discoloured in the first place. Some common culprits include:
1. Staining Foods and Beverages: Coffee, tea, red wine, and certain fruits and vegetables contain pigments that can stain tooth enamel over time.
2. Tobacco Use: Smoking or chewing tobacco can lead to stubborn stains on teeth.
3. Poor Oral Hygiene: Inadequate brushing and flossing can allow plaque and tartar to build up, contributing to discolouration.
4. Aging: As we age, tooth enamel naturally wears down, revealing the yellowish dentin beneath.
5. Medications: Certain medications, such as tetracycline antibiotics, can cause teeth to darken or stain.
6. Genetics: Some people are genetically predisposed to having thicker or thinner enamel, which can affect tooth colour.
How Does Teeth Whitening Work?
Teeth whitening treatments aim to remove stains and discolouration from the enamel and dentin of teeth, restoring a brighter, whiter appearance. Most whitening products contain either hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide as the active bleaching agent. These chemicals break down stains into smaller, less concentrated particles, making the teeth appear whiter.
Does Teeth Whitening Work on All Teeth?
While teeth whitening can effectively remove many types of stains, it may not be suitable for everyone or every type of discolouration. For example:
Yellow Teeth: Teeth that have yellowed due to ageing or surface stains typically respond well to whitening treatments.
Brown or Gray Teeth: Teeth with brown or grey discolouration, especially those caused by medications or trauma, may be less responsive to whitening and may require alternative treatments like veneers or bonding.
Dental Restorations: Teeth whitening treatments do not work on dental restorations such as fillings, crowns, or veneers. These materials do not respond to bleaching agents, so they may need to be replaced to match the newly whitened teeth.
 Teeth Whitening Options
When it comes to teeth whitening, there are two primary options available: professional teeth whitening and at-home teeth whitening kits.
Professional Teeth Whitening:
Performed by Dentists: Professional teeth whitening is typically performed by a dentist or dental hygienist in a dental office setting.
Stronger Bleaching Agents: Dentists use higher concentrations of bleaching agents than those found in over-the-counter products, allowing for more dramatic results.
Customized Treatment: Dentists can tailor the whitening treatment to the individual patient, taking into account factors such as tooth sensitivity and desired level of whitening.
Faster Results: Professional whitening treatments often yield faster results, with noticeable improvement after just one session.
At-Home Teeth Whitening:
Over-the-Counter Kits: At-home whitening kits are available at pharmacies and grocery stores and typically include whitening gels, strips, or trays.
ower Concentrations: These kits contain lower concentrations of bleaching agents compared to professional treatments, which may result in slower or less dramatic whitening.
Convenience: At-home whitening kits offer the convenience of being able to whiten your teeth on your schedule, without needing to visit a dentist's office.
Cost-Effective: At-home whitening kits are generally more affordable than professional treatments, making them a popular option for budget-conscious individuals.
Differences Between Professional Teeth Whitening and At-home Teeth Whitening
1. Effectiveness: Professional treatments tend to deliver faster and more dramatic results due to the use of higher concentrations of bleaching agents.
2. Customization: Professional whitening treatments are customized to each patient's needs, while at-home kits offer a one-size-fits-all approach.
3. Supervision: Professional whitening is performed under the supervision of a dental professional, ensuring safety and efficacy.
both professional teeth whitening and at-home whitening kits can effectively brighten your smile, but the best option for you will depend on your budget, desired level of whitening, and personal preferences. Consulting with a dentist can help you determine the most suitable whitening method for your individual needs. Remember, a radiant smile can boost your confidence and leave a lasting impression, so choose the option that works best for you and enjoy the benefits of a brighter, whiter smile!

Are Dental Bridges Safe And Long Lasting?
Tooth loss is very common as there are many reasons for this problem. Poor oral health is the main reason most people lose their teeth. Failure to have regular checkups with your dentist will also contribute to tooth or tooth loss.  However, among the many factors that contribute to tooth loss, ignoring these unsightly gaps will cause a struggle to chew and speak.  These are factors that can cause low self-esteem and affect how you function, but can be avoided by using dental bridges in Om Sai Dental Care.
Tumblr media
Many people who have lost teeth in the past struggle with the decision to get a dental bridge. A dental bridge allows you to save your jaw. If the gaps remain unfilled for too long, the jaw will likely deteriorate as it no longer receives stimulation from the missing teeth.
Types of Dental Bridges Near You
Dental bridges provide a solution to missing teeth by providing an artificial replacement for the gap between missing teeth. The solution is effective and available at Om Sai Dental Clinic in 3 different types of bridges including:
Traditional bridge  This type of dental bridge involves teeth on both sides of the gap. They are rearranged, so that crowns are placed on top of two teeth - filling the gap.
Cantilever Bridge  This type of dental bridge includes a tooth shape and crown next to the gap.  This type of procedure is recommended on teeth that cannot withstand intense pressure.  Unlike molars, they can break under high chewing pressure.
Maryland Bridge  This type of dental bridge near you does not involve adjacent teeth.  A tooth is attached to a metal wing because the bite is less forceful.
A dental bridge procedure takes about two days. During the first day, adjacent teeth are reshaped to accommodate the crown. During the second visit to the dentist, the permanent bridge is placed.  This is checked and then to your satisfaction, the crown is cemented into place.
after care
After a dental bridge procedure, there are some precautions that include minimal chewing on the side of the procedure and using the opposite side of your mouth.  Hard foods should also be avoided as the bridge can be pushed out of place.  Extra care should be used during cleaning and flossing, especially during healing.  The patient is advised to avoid alcohol or smoking after treatment.
What will my dental bridge last?
Most people have not acquired the full information about dental bridges, and the main question is whether they are permanent. The answer is yes, dental bridges near you will last for a long time. This is especially true in patients with strong and adequate bone volume. Proper oral hygiene can extend the lifespan of dental bridges. Replacement teeth can be made from one or a combination of materials, depending on your preference and preferred cost.
Gold alloy, porcelain or zirconia are the most popular.  All these elements are powerful and aesthetically pleasing.
 safety
Worried about the safety of having dental bridges?  You don't have to worry...the good news is that they are a safe and effective option.  The biggest thing to consider is making sure you dedicate enough time to finding the right dentist in Guwahati. Consider their experience, expertise and success rate of previous clients.
Every patient should have the right attitude for any dental procedure to be successful.  Talk to your dentist near you about dental bridges before committing to the procedure, or any procedure for that matter.  Be mentally prepared and determined about what you want.  Know that your efforts to maintain your oral care significantly affect the success of your new restoration.
Maintaining excellent oral health is important to your self-confidence and overall quality of life. If you are interested in finding out more about dental crowns and bridges near you, please do not hesitate to contact our dedicated dental team at Om Sai Dental care. This clinic is one of the best dental clinics in Guwahati. We are pleased to offer our patients a variety of restorative dentistry options so they can maintain excellent oral health for a lifetime. Unlocking the Perfect Smile: The Marvels of Implant Abutments
Dental implants are a popular restorative option for patients with missing  teeth. An implant consists of a small titanium post that is surgically inserted into the jawbone, which serves as the root of the tooth. After the implant has been placed, an abutment is attached to it, which connects the implant to the implant crown. In this blog, we will explore what an abutment is, its role in implant dentistry, and the types of implant abutments available.
What is an Abutment in Dental Implant?
An abutment in a dental implant is a connector that attaches to the implant post and protrudes above the gum line. The implant abutment serves as a foundation for the implant crown, which is the visible part of the tooth restoration. The abutment can be made of different materials, including titanium, zirconia, or porcelain. It is usually placed after the implant post has integrated into the jawbone.
Role of Abutment in Dental Implant
The abutment in dental implant plays a crucial role in implant dentistry. It connects the implant post to the implant crown and serves as a support for the crown. The abutment is designed to fit precisely with the implant post and the implant crown to ensure stability and prevent any movement. It is also responsible for creating an aesthetic appearance that matches the surrounding natural teeth.
Types of Implant Abutments
There are different types of implant abutments available, depending on the implant system and the patient's needs. Here are some of the commonly used implant abutments:
Stock Abutments: Stock abutments are pre-manufactured abutments that come in different shapes and sizes. They are available for most implant systems and can be used in standard cases. Stock abutments are a cost-effective option, but they may not provide the best aesthetic results.
Custom Abutments: Custom abutments are made specifically for a patient's implant case. They are designed to match the contours of the implant post and the implant crown, providing better aesthetic results. Custom abutments are more expensive than stock abutments, but they offer better outcomes.
Angled Abutments: Angled abutments are used in cases where the implant post is not placed vertically. They allow for proper alignment of the implant crown and improve the aesthetic appearance of the restoration.
Implant Abutment Crown
The implant abutment crown is the visible part of the tooth restoration that attaches to the abutment. It is usually made of porcelain or ceramic material, which provides an aesthetic appearance that matches the surrounding natural teeth. The implant abutment crown is designed to fit precisely with the abutment and provide stability and support.
Conclusion
An abutment in a dental implant plays a vital role in implant dentistry. It connects the implant post to the implant crown and provides stability and support for the restoration. Choosing the right type of implant abutment depends on the implant system and the patient's needs. Monumental Dental Engineering offers a wide range of implant abutments and dental milling machines to meet the needs of dentists and dental laboratories. With the right equipment and materials, you can provide your patients with the best possible dental care.

Technologies revolutionizing 3D Dental sector
Additive manufacturing has reached a significant number of sectors and industries, subsequently offering important advantages in terms of productivity, costs, customization and lead times. In the field of dentistry the technology creates solutions adapted to the needs of each patient. It is also a flourishing industry, not too long ago the consulting firm QY Research announced that dental 3D printing was expected to reach $930 million by the end of 2025. In other words, the market is expected to grow at an annual rate of 17%, which can be explained by the constant development of 3D technologies and their materials. Indeed, dental 3D printing includes different processes such as stereolithography or direct metal sintering and therefore a variety of materials: resins, plastics, metals, etc. The application of 3D printing in dental is wide, it is possible to make surgical guides, crowns, trays and dentures and each solution is adapted to each patient with high precision.
We also find metal additive manufacturing as a process in dentistry. Mainly used to produce implants, stellites, or nickel-chromium screeds. Oliver Bellaton comments, “This technology requires sustained production to absorb investments of up to several hundred thousand euros with skills coming from the industrial world rather than the dental sector.” Metal printers are much more expensive than other technologies and will sometimes require more post-processing work reducing productivity for some. After talking with a dental technician, he explained that a crown made by machining requires 15 minutes of work, however a 3D printed metal one requires 5 hours of printing. On the other hand, in terms of cost per unit, additive manufacturing is much more interesting, 75 cents for the latter against more than 7 euros.
Dental 3D Printing Technologies and their Materials
When we talk about dental additive manufacturing, it is important to understand that several technologies are involved, whether it is fused deposition modeling, photopolymerisation or laser sintering, the choice will depend on the type of application at stake. For example, the FDM process will manufacture pieces “at a cost of a couple of pennies and no post-processing after printing. However, speed, accuracy and biocompatibility are not present.” Generally, the latter technology will be used to create orthodontic dental models for thermoform gutters, whether for alignment, bleaching or restraint. On the other hand, 3D printed dental solutions using PEEK are emerging. The 3D printer manufacturer, IEMAI3D said, “There are many advantages to making partial prostheses with PEEK. It is a strong and lightweight material that will improve patient comfort. The frame of the prosthesis is produced without metal and is completely neutral in terms of taste.”
Another additive manufacturing process used in the dental sector and probably the main one is photopolymerisation. Whether we are talking about stereolithography (SLA) or DLP, this process offers a much higher resolution, and most importantly biocompatible materials. In this case, liquid resins. Anton Lopez, Channel Sales Manager France at EnvisionTEC told us, “Combined with CE/FDA approved materials, photopolymerisation and especially DLP, gives more accurate printing which allows more accurate devices to be created. The finishing is much less complex, which reduces manufacturing time. Also, it is very easy to change materials and print for different applications. This is very beneficial for the dental industry because professionals can treat their patients more quickly”. In terms of applications, this technology offers more possibilities due to its precision; we are talking about surgical guides, temporary crowns and bridges, calcinable elements such as dental stellites, etc.
