what's your favorite movie?

hi!!! ooh, I think I'll have to cheat a bit and give two answers - the movie that is my personal favourite is How To Steal A Million (1966), starring Audrey Hepburn and Peter O'Toole. It's a lovely little romcom with a heist, art forgery, and People Being Competent (or pretending to be but making it work anyways, same thing). Favourite thing to rewatch, but not sure I'd recommend it if you aren't already into the genre.

My favourite movie in the "everyone should watch this!!" way, though, is definitely Victor/Victoria (1982). It's funny, witty, has so many queer characters, and I really appreciate how it sits itself so comfortably in that middle space between 'gender' and 'sexuality' and explores both at the same time. TLDR Julie Andrews wears several suits, lots of shenanigans ensue, and Norma might be my favourite character to ever grace the screen.

(The only reason it isn't also my personal favourite is that I like the 1995 Broadway proshot version of the story just a liiiittle bit more (they remove the couple of gripes I had with the original film and somehow make it *even more queer*) - but that's just my preference, the movie is also very good :P)

What is your unpopular shadowhunter opinions 👁️👁️

Okay listen, I don‘t truly know if it‘s an unpopular opinion since the fandom so rarely talks about it! My unpopular opinion is that I think it‘s the best if Livvy truly gets to rest in piece after TWP. To be honest, I don‘t even consider her being totally resurrected because I believe we will see her kind of losing her mind in TWP. And I think at the end of TWP, Ty will be able to let her go and say his final goodbye.

it’s funny you say this actually because i’ve been thinking of him recently... especially after the whole lore reveal. the fact that jin was literally devoured in the womb so his sibling could survive + willingly let himself be manipulated by kenjaku despite knowing it wasn’t kaori….. well. it’s tasty, right? and it makes me a little insane because if sukuna embodies strenght, isn’t it only natural that jin would embody weakness? the weakness of love? inherent submission to those more powerful than him?

BAKING OFC !! omg im so ready for all the cinnamon and nutmeg and allspice to fill up my kitchen > < !!!! and no one is a better taste tester than dazai <33 he’s always trying to make something new like dipping chai cookies in cinnamon roll frosting (his ideas are only sometimes good :<) one of my fav hobbies is cafe hopping but it hits different in the autumn !! 🍂☕️ he loves coming w me to try all the new seasonal drinks and treats and read together. he only ever orders the super sweet drinks but always steals a sip of mine anyway and whines its too bitter :< i love wearing brown colors esp in autumn so theres a lot of matching outfits going on !! and when it gets cooler outside he holds my hand and keeps it in his pocket to keep us both warm, he likes to hold me against his chest and bundle me up in his jacket while he rests his chin on my head too (ㅠ﹏ㅠ) he’s so cozy

nadia's relationship with the other embassy members is... fine. she certainly trusts their abilities and knows they are very capable, and the group knows how to have fun together too. but she also knows all too well that at the end of the day they're still vampires with their own agendas and their own desires. any of them could turn on her, attempt to upend her hold of power, or abandon the coven altogether, and this reality keeps her distant from those in the embassy she feels she cannot fully trust. she's certainly friendly with them, but not nearly as familiar as she is with vladislaus, who she knows will never disobey her, or helena, who she feels shares her interests in expanding her power.

i'd say she finds inessa the least offensive, though unambitious to a fault; she finds marcellus to be fickle and sloppy with his duties, but he gets the job done and he's always a good laugh; and she believes yakov is the one most likely to attempt to upend her power, solely because he's the most capable and pragmatic vampire of the group (besides nadia of course), not because he's actually made any attempt at her power.

I don’t know if this is me being nit-pickey, but I really enjoyed the longer - more slicked back hair that Ty had in his updated tarot card (done by the wonderful Cassandra Jean), I wish his hair was more like in the offical arts !!!😫😫😫 it’s so cute!!!

i'm only like three scenes into act one, but it is already?? so good???? i like it for a couple reasons. one is that maybe i am just an english nerd, but i am finding it really easy to read (also probably helped by the fact that the copy i got is a folger's edition like the ones they gave us to read in high school with all of the lovely easy to read annotations and scene descriptions). two is that i think it's so cool that the main premise centers on three women strategizing their way through gaining power!! oh shakespeare, sometimes your plays entirely lack feminist subtext but when they do they nock it out of the park. and last is that well, it's just an interesting story. cordelia in the first scene really got to me. and the king of france's speech about how he loves her regardless of whether or not he gets a dowry by marrying her!! also all of edmund's soliloquies in scene two about the unfairness of the position he was born into were so good. i love the soliloquy where he takes his father's reasoning of fate pushing them to do things they don't want to do, pointing out the faults in that thinking, and then mockingly using it to justify his own revenge. oh yeah baby. shakespeare. so freaking good.
