Good sunny day, Ana! ☀️
Could you share the songs that remind you of Beatrice?
Thank youuu
good (finally) sunny day, sweetie! 💛
i’m kinda lame choosing songs (probably bc i feel a little insecure about sharing my music taste 😅) but i tried my best to find songs that matched my beloved beatrice
invisible string - taylor swift
“and isn’t it just so pretty to think
all along there was some
invisible string
tying you to me?”
nothing - bruno major
“but there’s nothing
like doing nothing
with you
[…]
we’re not looking for no one
don’t need nothing more”
p.s. - gnash
“p.s., i miss you when you feel alone
p.s., i’m with you, wherever you go
[…]
p.s., i love you, that’s all that i know”
someone to you - BANNERS
“and if you feel like night is falling
i wanna be the one you’re calling
‘cause i believe that you could lead the way
[…]
i just wanna be somebody to someone
someone to you”
super shy - new jeans (beatrice to yves 🤭)
“you’re on my mind all the time
i wanna tell you but i’m super shy, super shy
[…]
but wait a minute while i make you mine, make you mine”
sweet nothings - taylor swift
“‘cause they say the end is coming
everyone is up to something
i find myself running home to your sweet nothings
[…]
to you, i can admit that i’m just too soft for all of it”
wishing on you - jihyo
“i want you to
be my every distraction, baby
and if i get another wish from my genie
i might as well just tell the truth
i wanna be wishing on you”

Tagged by @sunminshine to post my receiptify for this month (ty beloved 🥰)
Tumblr media
I need to have a word with receiptify bc HOW TF is baggy jeans on this when I know for a FACT I listened to that song a total of 4 times (ik bc i don't like it). And there are SEVERAL other songs I've listened to more than that since it came out. Including, but not limited to: PADO, THE SUPERIOR NEW NCT SONG!! Recieptify, I don't believe in you. And I'm very disappointed in your actions. Also, idk how it picked that somi song when I've only listened to the mini as a whole (multiple times but not enough for any of it to be here??). Everything else tho? Makes complete sense.
Tagging (only if you want to ofc 💜): @lee-minhoe @boobzi @kimsmingyu @kihyunsgf @cheolmatez @baekslight @amaranth @belovedino @nunuboo @sunmisbf

OKAY! Event grinding! You'll want to have approx 900-1000+ (9000-10,000+ on en i believe?) dia saved up!
Play on whatever's comfiest for you in terms of BP, i recommend around 2-3 until it starts getting unbearable and then popping up to 6 with a 10bp or two in there every now and then. There's apparently some optimal rotation but I've long forgotten it. If you're a masochist like I was the first time i did an event, you can play on 1bp as well since that maximizes your level exp gain.
You'll want to play on whatever song gives you the highest score - aim for anything close to 1mil in terms of power in the song (i can show you where to find that if you don't know :3) playing a song with the members of the unit in a matching element also boosts your score! Also play only that song and the event song. Get comfy (<- guy who still cannot stand walk with your smile and stippling to a small degree) and learn the beatmap - then go listen to something other than the game. trust me. listening to a video essay makes it way more bearable while you play the same song 500 times.
Anyway! Score! You'll want to get 500k points a day. Roughly. You can get more or less, but you want to shoot for a minimum of abt 500k unless you're confident you can catch up another day. I tend to get abt 600-700k a day if i can since that gives me leeway to take a break sometimes.
Get the work outfits from the shop ASAP, its not much but it helps to have them to do the event work! Also keep your BP notifications on and drain it as often as you can - maximize the free BP you can get! I think if you play a little more "relaxed" you aim for abt 300-400k a day, relying primarily on free BP refills, whistles, and the occasional dia spend (that usually costs you abt 800-1000, versus the 1000+ that playing "aggressively" does) there's an exact number but again, i have forgor it.
so ! yeah ! i've gotten 3 event cards - Acanthe Mika, Romancing Cruise Natsume, Coruscate Breeze Leo, and Cafe Tsumugi (i forget the song name lmao) using those techniques, so :3 they work ! events in enstars are agonizing though. don't go for every even 5*. save for your faves or the characters you like best. I'm a IzuRitsuLeo and NatsumugiP. I only grind for Leo, Ritsu, and Natsume cards primarily but i've gone for tsumugi before and regret not getting or the beautiful golden drop izumi so sdkghds but !! yeah !!!
it is agonizing and painful and you will want to throw your phone across the room after playing one song 100+ times but hey. at least you got a shiny new card of your beloved to show off
THANK YOU SO MUCH this reminds me of like . a time limited version of grinding for jean grey on marvel future fight (made me wanna kms) . i will keep all this in mind ty very very much

Re the ask game...1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 (take the noose off, wrap it tight around my hand, which I will never not adore), 12, 13, 14 (for your war is the context (god is a boy) stories that I also adore), 16 (for εἴδωλον), 17, 20, 21, 23, 24, 25, 26 (for παλλακή), 27, 28, 29, 33, 35, 36, 37, 38, 40, 41, 42 (for take the noose off, wrap it tight around my hand and i’ll lay on the floor, touch me ‘till i vomit, again my beloveds), 44, 45, 46 (i’ll lay on the floor, touch me ‘till i vomit, I only feel more insane about that one after starting my Ethel Cain phrase), 47 (for "suffering is nigh, drawing to me" or any Ptolemaea lyric because I feel that is such a Leo song), 48, 49.
(I am so sorry if this feels like too much, please don't feel pressured to answer any of these, but you said you like asks and I love your writing so much, so)
twelve. my very first one was a terrible merge between pandora hearts and dante's inferno, if i remember correctly.
4. definitely angst (and i love post-apocalyptic stories, but i'm yet to include the genre in a fanfiction, i've mostly done so in my original work).
5. i don’t have many, so i’m not sure. but she will talk like a friend (she will kiss like a man) has a special place in my heart (and i really need to continue it!).
6. for those i’ve posted on ao3, maybe my first one? it’s a good omens fic i translated (badly) from italian, it’s very trope-y and not really my thing anymore.
7. i write whenever the need to strikes, so i’m almost constantly scribbling. but when it comes to writing from start to end, it’s mostly at night (might be ‘cause it’s the time of day i have less to do).
8. a lot of things! most of it comes from music, some from my own state of being or random things i've experienced. plus, books or poetry. sometimes, as i write, i keep a few books close for inspiration (these days, it’s mostly T.S. Eliot's the wasteland, Richard Siken's crush, Beppe Fenoglio's a private affair; plus, and I'm mentioning it mostly since it directly impacted take the noose of, wrap it tight, 4.48 psychosis by Sarah Kane).
9. part xii, the one about medications, was done through a lot of research on topics i’m wholly unfamiliar with, so it was interesting, and quite fun (plus, reading Sarah Kane at night while listening to Ethel Cain which was. something). plus, the last part! i think it’s really representative of the style i’m going for.
12. I go through phases of concentrating on a single character, and at the moment it's Leonardo from TMNT (who would've thought). other characters have been Izzy Hands from our flag means death, Jesse from breaking bad, and Spadino from that shitshow (affectionate) that was Suburra.
13. i tend to avoid the issue by. not writing them, i guess. but at the moment, maybe Donatello from TMNT. i like him a lot, but i still haven’t figured out how to write him.
14. all the titles come from Norma Jeane baker of Troy by Anne Carson! i really like that book, and it has some chapters focused on explaining a few ancient greek words, while still tying the explanation to the myth of Helen of Troy.
16. it’s actually very much inspired by a concept i’m exploring in an original novel of mine, which follows, among other things, the relationship between the protagonist and his aging father, gone mad after experiencing the death of three of his kids in a war. the novel itself is inspired by the last ronin so i guess the cycle is complete.
17. “the last thing Leo remembers was taking the shovel from Raph’s unsteady hands and digging a grave deep enough to bury a secret - their arms brushed, in passing, and it stung.”
(the WIP in question is, by the way, inspired by your incredible i see things that nobody else sees, that i just adore  too much for my own good).
20. not really, but there are a few things i would've changed in execution.
21. i’m pretty much in awe at a lot of people whose works i’ve read on ao3 (or other places), there’s just so much creativity and sheer talent. oh, and there’s this writer i really admire that writes an incredible range of styles and characters, consistently creating amazing stories, and whose writing has impacted me and my own work a lot. plus, she’s very kind and sends nice asks and, oh, look! it’s you!
23. i listen to music, generally the same song, on repeat, for hours.
24. not my favorite thing. i’m alright with making them not very explicit, otherwise i kind of cringe. not sure why.
25. i don’t think so, but i might if i keep up with the angst (i will).
26. the whole concept was very hard to tackle, because i wanted it to be very raw but not misrepresent the issue. other than that, maybe the final line. it’s just a handful of words, but i rewrote it many times before i got it right.
27. a go with the flow guy! i start with a concept, with a very minimal outline, and than just go until it feels done.
28. i wish i’d been capable of not attaching my stories’ worth to how many hits or kudos they get from the start. obviously i’m glad whenever a story of mine gets attention, but i want to learn to write for myself, mostly, not only to feel rewarded. but i’m getting better at this.
29. not sure, maybe παλλακή? but i do understand it’s based on a concept not many are comfortable reading about. plus, maybe my Suburra fics, but i probably can’t expect much since they are from an almost dead fandom and in italian (and quite untranslatable, since the dialogues are in Rome’s dialect).
33. first things that comes to my mind are some comments i’ve gotten on got a good look and measured my answer. many people told me it made them feel seen at a very visceral level, and, i don’t know, it moved me a lot.
35. i don’t really talk about my story ideas to people. my cats know all about them, though.
36. i have a few, but for now it’s mostly ideas -but i really wanna try writing something about across the spiderverse.
37. there’s a few fics i’ve improvised (both by writing and recording) with a friend of mine -they were a messy mix of disney characters and tropes. one of those predicted the Queen’s death. funny times.
38. never thought of it, so i don’t have a specific person in mind, but i’d be very interested in trying! i’ve done a collab only once with an irl friend, and i’m definitely open to do one again.
40. a couple of my irl friends do, but they haven’t read anything.
41. i have this pre-canon fic about Eddie Munson (from stranger things) that i’ve been meaning to complete for a while, and i love working on it. very coming-of-age, smalltown queer boy-ish. i hope i’ll finally get around to finish it.
42. a whole ass fixation on Ethel Cain’s music, particularly Family Tree and Inbred. i listen to those two a lot while writing, in general.
44. not from a fic but: “this room’s a narrow place. everyone is talking.”
45. i have many words to say, and i love saying them. not much more, i think.
46. the sequels are, in fact, in the making! (i hope). no spoilers, but it’s a few missing moments from the first two stories and a bit of development on Leo’s state (from very bad to normal bad, i guess).
47. so, so Leo! you’re, as usual, very correct. plus, by mentioning Ptolemea, you’ve kickstarted a whole inspiration process in my brain, and i’m definitely writing something about it. not sure about the specifics, but i’m thinking: some feral behavior; Leo being his usual mother/widow self; someone’s getting eaten alive.
48. is angst a trope? if so, angst.
49. a mildly explicit Inuyasha fic that involved stalking and divinity. read it on my mom’s phone at a family dinner at about eleven.
(thank you for the questions!)

Soft (Part 2 to Stare) - Bakugo x Reader
Soft
Character: Bakugo Katsuki
Word Count: 8K
This took me a while to write and I don’t know why lol this was for celebrating reaching 1700 followers but now we’re at 2500 FOLLOWERS (!!!), so I present to you guys part two to Stare. Stare is one of my proudest works and also is my most popular. I’m not expecting Soft to live up to the same popularity as Stare but I had a lot of fun writing this and that’s all that matters! XD
For Soft, this is Bakugo’s first date, first crush and I really wanted to show the inner turmoil within him. It’s not as simple for him to accept that he has a crush (he can’t even fully believe that you like him lol), he finds it distracting and unnecessary, but he can’t help how he feels. It’s going to feel like he’s going back and forth. One minute he likes you, the next he’s distant and it’s all necessary for him to grow. This is just a little incite of what I was thinking as I was writing this.
Thank you guys so much for this! I love all of you guys!!!
Please read Stare first before reading this!! >>>>>>Stare<<<<<<
---------------------------------------------------------------
You, with the voice of an angel, the beauty of the stars, and a smile like the sun. It was as if you were Aphrodite herself. It left him obsessed and wanting more.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Bakugo woke up that morning with the sun in his face and his mother’s deafening voice piercing the walls of his room. She was screaming something about breakfast but as usual, everything was muffled when his mind was full of you.
He thought of the events of yesterday as if it were a dream. Your forever bright smile that actually shined on him, your cheeks a soft red hue when you asked him out, and your dainty wrist in his large hand felt as soft as the cushions on his bed that propped his head up as he stared at his white ceiling above his head. Rays of light were piercing through the thin curtains of his window. Like freckles, spots of light glowed upon his cheeks and if it wasn’t for his date today, he would’ve remained in bed and soaked up all the warmth the sun had to offer. Sometimes he wondered if this was how you would feel if you were next to him.
With the sun upon his skin, he could almost imagine you beside him, glowing in presence and sparkling like a soaring comet. You tore through the darkest blankets of his skies, igniting it with a warmth he never thought he would ever feel before. And then you would stroke his arm, sending a wave of excitement to his nerves, your mouth would slowly widen into a smile and it was like he was watching the sun peek from the horizon to welcome a new day. It would look as if you were laughing for no apparent reason and your legs would begin to tangle with his just as Bakugo’s stomach would flip. You would look glorious in the light like you were in your natural element, the way how your skin shimmered with the sun left Bakugo speechless. All he wanted to do was just trap you within his arms and never let you go.
“Katsuki!” And in an instant, you were gone from his mind. You disappeared from his side and what was left was sparkles parading upon his bed as a figment of his imagination. His mother’s voice sounded once again, threatening to come up to his room and pull him out of bed. Bakugo could tell his mother was standing on the foot of the staircase because of how loud she sounded, she probably had with one slipper on the first step and a spatula in her hand, waving frantically in the air. Her eyes were probably sharp through blond furrowed brows, so pointy that anyone who meet her gaze would instantly combust into cuts.
“Alright! Alright!” Bakugo yelled back before sucking his teeth. He had to get up anyway. If he remembered correctly, he was picking you up at twelve. So, he had about two hours to get ready.
Before his mother could physically drag him to the table for breakfast, Bakugo was able to finish his morning duties and also get dressed for his date. When he stepped into his dining room, a neatly traditional Japanese breakfast was upon it. And he was glad to see one of his favorites, Tamagoyaki, as a part of the dishes. He liked them spicy, as strange as that was. But not only did he step into today’s breakfast, but also the bewildered stares of his parents. Their widened eyes followed their son until he entered the kitchen and returned on him when he emerged with a carton of orange juice. They weren’t particularly looking at his face but rather his clothes that seemed all too new and never before worn. Bakugo had dug into the deepest part of his closet for them. Black and orange were Bakugo’s favorite colors and his clothes consisted of them although it was mostly black. He was sporting a black shirt with a graphic symbol of a skull spewing fire out of its eyes and mouth. Straight cut black pants that hugged his legs and hips, giving the illusion that his legs were long, and his bomber jacket was black with orange stripes running down his shoulders and arms.
Clearly, Bakugo’s parents never seen their son dress so well on a Saturday morning even if he was going to hang out with Kirishima.
“A-Are you going out today, Katsuki?” His father, Masaru, was the first to ask when Bakugo sat at the table. He grabbed his chopsticks, contemplating on whether to answer his father’s question truthfully or not. He hadn’t mention to his parents about his date today or about you. And he wasn’t sure if he wanted to let them know.
“Yeah I am,” he grumbled, sticking a piece of tamagoyaki in his mouth.
“With Kirishima?” His mother, Mitsuki, decided to dig more information out of her son. She placed a cup of coffee down for her husband before sitting and he quietly thanked her and hummed softly when he took a sip. Bakugo lifted his eyes from his plate to look at his mother who stared at him and eagerly waited for his answer.
“Nah,” he hoped they would leave it at that, but he knew his mother liked to pry herself in his business.
“Oh, then who?” She had a small smile on her face when she ate a piece of tamagoyaki. She also liked them spicy. Masaru avoided them.
Bakugo groaned and he let out a heavy sigh that seemed to knock Mitsuki’s smile right out of her face. Before she had a chance to open her mouth and complain about his attitude, Bakugo answered quickly.
“It’s ____. I’m going out with ____.”
His parents seemed to freeze as soon as your name left their son’s lips. They looked to one another and then back at him, their eyes as wide as it could be with their mouths slightly apart. Mitsuki’s surprised expression soon turned into one of anger and she abruptly stood up, reached over the table and pulled his cheek.
“Why didn’t you tell us you had a date today!? Look how dirty your face is! Do you want her to run away?!”
“W-What is wrong with you, ya old hag!?”
“Don’t speak to me that way!”
“G-Guys…” stammered Masaru, but the two carried on with their shouting match.
“Did you take a shower?! Brush your teeth?!”
“Course, I did!”
“Hey brat,” Bakugo finished tying his laces to his sneakers when Mitsuki approached him at the front door. She was calmer than just a few moments ago. In fact, she looked quite serious. Bakugo didn’t really think much of it. He stood up from the ground and buried his hands within his pockets, his body, hunched, and slightly facing away from her because he expected to hear a lecture from her mouth. But instead, she thrusted two small pieces of paper, tickets, into his chest that he caught before they fell to the floor.
“Here, if she likes you even more after today then take her to this,” Bakugo glanced at the tickets, and he made a small grunt before he stuffed them in his pockets.
“Sure,” he muttered and was about to leave before Mitsuki stopped him by the shoulder. She looked into his eyes that were identical to hers and a soft, yet confident smile came to her.
“Show her a good time, Katsuki,” she said, and they shared a moment of silence, looking at one another from mother to son. Bakugo nodded and he left his house and turned the corner on route to your house.
Every step closer to your house had the butterflies fluttering wildly within his stomach and chest. His hands became clammy while they were stuffed within his jacket’s pockets and he started to fiddle with the tickets that sat within them. He wasn’t sure what to expect from this date. Hell, he was even shocked that you agreed to it. All this time he thought that you were afraid of him, but your distance really meant that you shared the same feelings as him. Bakugo couldn’t believe it.
Even as he approached your doorstep with potential words and different scenarios flooding his mind, he still felt as if he were in a dream, lightheaded, while walking through a set of clouds. Is this really how it felt when you like someone? Like the urge to see them again as soon as you seperate seized every sensible piece of your rationality? Or the image of your beloved would play within your mind like a song upon repeat, the melody of their laugh would crescendo into the most beautiful of smiles.
Bakugo sighed and ran a hand through his hair. With that same hand, he rang your doorbell, fidgeting slightly as he waited for someone, hopefully you, to come to the door. It was about a few seconds until finally the door opened and you peeked your head from behind it.
“H-Hi, Bakugo,” you greeted him with a nervous smile and fully stepped out from behind the door. Bakugo blinked once he saw what you were wearing, his jaw slightly dropped as he scanned you over. He looked over you only once—no twice—fuck—a third time. Shit, you were beautiful. “You’re here.”
He froze in place at the sight of you. Your clothes were simple, yet it accentuated your shape. How could you look so gorgeous with a pair of jean shorts and a white buttoned top with lace as its short sleeves. You were a pure angel, a complete contrast to his devilish appearance and here he was, already tainting you by being in your presence. Were you wearing make up? It was light. Bakugo could tell your blemishes had vanished and your lips were a nude to your skin tone. He was fine with or without, it made no difference to your beauty to him.
“Hey,” was all he managed to say in his stupor. Your smile widened, and you called something out within your house before you locked your door.
The walk to the arcade was a silent one. Bakugo didn’t have the courage to talk. He wasn’t the most talkative person, he only spoke when it was important and when he did, it was usually at the top of his lungs. But being on this date, he had no reason to raise the volume and he also didn’t know as much about you other than the small habits you tend to do. Because of this, he came to question his reason for liking you. He questioned if it was his teenage urges acting as a dictator to his rationality. Maybe it truly was because he was attractive to your looks.
He glanced at you and he caught you staring at him. You jumped when your eyes met and looked away, a blush blossoming on your cheeks like you were caught doing something shameful. Bakugo found himself doing the same thing as he didn’t expect your eyes would be on him. ‘This is stupid!’ He shouted in his head. A simple stare had reduced him to a coward—a puddle on the side of the road for no one to step in but you. He couldn’t believe how much he was wrapped around your finger, if only you had known, you would’ve used it to your advantage if you had the courage.
Warmed cheeks and sealed lips carried on until you had reached the arcade. The arcade was bustling with teenagers and children with their parents which made sense for a Saturday. Bakugo was buying some tokens at the counter after he aggressively denied your request to pay your share. After all, what kind of a man would he be if he let you pay on the first date? So, you were standing awkwardly to the side, surveying the games while you waited for Bakugo to return. And when he did, he had golden coins in his hand, and a small smirk was on his face when he gestured towards multiple arcade machines with his free hand.
“Alright. Pick which one you want to lose in first,” Bakugo wished he could’ve recorded your face when he said that. You looked so offended that he barked out a laugh after.
“Or how about I give you the honors since you’re so confident?” You raised an eyebrow, a frown on your beautiful lips.
His smirk grew wider. “Are you sure? I don’t wanna make you cry on the first—”
“Just pick!” You pushed him ahead of you and you followed him through the crowds until he stopped in front of an arcade machine. It was on top of a small platform and in front of two screens were two suspended guns. The banner hanging above the machine was the title. Call of Duty, it read. There were already some children playing on it, the guns snuggled to their chests and fingers wrapped around the trigger. They shot at animated Zombies that threw themselves at the screen with their busted mouths bubbling with blood and mucus. The counter on the corner of the screen was skyrocketing into the thousands the more they took down.
“Ever played this?” Bakugo spoke like he was taunting you and turned to face you.
“Of course,” you simply said and folded your arms across your chest and glared at him. You were hoping he wasn’t bringing you to the ‘manliest’ game in the arcade believing you didn’t know how to play because of your gender. You wanted to destroy the confidence in his eyes.
“Ready to lose?” He teased and stepped up on the platform once the children were done. They stuck around to watch with a glimmer of excitement in their eyes. You followed after Bakugo, holding your glare, and taking his hand when he held it out to help you up. You would’ve thanked him if you weren’t too busy mentally preparing to beat his ass.
“What level?”
“Medium. I’ll give you a handicap.”
“Don’t even,” there was a scroll trigger on the gun and you quickly pressed ‘Hard difficulty’. It made him chuckle after he shrugged off his jacket and hung it on the iron rails behind him. He grabbed his gun and went into a stance. His back was slightly hunched with the gun clutched to his body while he pointed it at the screen. Your eyes wandered to his arms. So toned, they were, as he was mindlessly flexing them. Your face grew hot and suddenly started to feel very bashful. You looked away, and when you did, started to notice that the game already began. The score on Bakugo’s screen was climbing and you panicked. You quickly pulled the trigger against the zombies that were coming at you. 500 points for body shots. 2000 points for headshots. You were aiming for headshots.
It was quiet between you two with only the thunderous sounds of rapid fire and the gaggled groans of fallen dead. The rest of the arcade sounds were reduced to background noise. Even the children who watched on with random shouts of excitement at the scores and making funny movements (that only seemed to possess children) were cast away in that same category. Nothing existed except you, Bakugo, and a crowd of zombies.
It was almost as if you assimilated into the game and was one with their universe. You defended the town from them like it was your destiny, like it was what you trained for and you felt the phantom pain on the side of your neck whenever a zombie would slip through and take a bite out of you. Your HP would drop but it didn’t stop you from shooting. You could feel yourself start to shake, your palms grew sweaty, and you started to hyperventilate until you caught yourself from becoming too absorbed in the virtual world. It was honestly the most exhilarating thing you had experienced.
By the time the game ended, you grinned at Bakugo with your hand on your hip and your gun holster up against your shoulder. He looked at you with eyes as wide as it could be and his mouth so open it would’ve fell upon the floor. The children’s faces mirrored his in disbelief at your score. 51,500 points for you and 18,500 points for Bakugo.
You: 1
Bakugo: 0
Bakugo couldn’t believe you beat him at Call of Duty. He used to play Zombies with Kirishima and the boys at home and he would always be the last person standing to finish up the round. His boys cheered for him for saving the round every time and he would feel so proud of himself for doing so. He was confident in his skills, which made him confident in beating you. But he was clearly outmatched and when he questioned your skills, you smiled and said that this was your go-to game in arcades. He set himself up for failure right from the start.
“Alright! You’re good, I’ll give you that,” he grumbled those last words. “But the next one is mine!”
“Sure, and since you lost, I’ll give you the honors to pick again,” you stressed out the word ‘lost’ and it made Bakugo grimace. You laughed, and that grimace quickly turned into his stomach doing flips. You had him on an invisible leash that you didn’t know about. His body already conditioned to react to anything he found cute or beautiful about you. It was ridiculous, he thought.
“Whatever,” Bakugo dug his hands in his pockets. He didn’t mean to make himself sound like a sore loser and he didn’t like the frown that appeared on your face after. But he was tied between the feeling of accepting defeat and accepting his feelings for you. It was scary having a crush. He could feel himself changing and doing things he wouldn’t normally do. Instead of having fun at the arcade, he could’ve been training his body or quirk. He didn’t have time to waste if he wanted to be number one hero and that meant these feelings for you had to go. All Might didn’t get to where he was by being focused on girls.
“Bakugo,” he felt a gentle touch on his arm and it pulled him away from his thoughts. He glanced at you and you were looking at him. It was the second time he seen you so worried, the last time was after karaoke and he had yet to find out what made you worried. Was it him? You were a normally happy person, like an airhead almost. You tried to look at things on the bright side even in the darkest of situations. It was similar to Deku who always annoyed Bakugo with his optimism but when it came to you, he didn’t seem to mind. “I didn’t mean to tease you like that. I’m sorry.”
He didn’t deserve your apology. You weren’t to blame, yet he pulled his arm out of your grip and the small gasp that sounded from you pained his heart. “I found the next game,” Bakugo stated without looking at you and walked ahead. You lingered in the same spot for a moment before you quickly joined him.
The next game Bakugo picked was Basketball hoops which you were a little surprised about. There were two baskets and it was being separated by a tall metal gate that also caged around it to prevent the balls from flying out. Bakugo stood in front of it and pulled a miniature basketball out of the pile. He was already adding the tokens in before he turned towards you.
“Ever played this one?” He threw the basketball towards you and it nearly slipped from your hands when you caught it.
“Not exactly,” you smiled nervously.
“It’s simple. You just throw the ball into the hoop and you gain points. Person with the most points at the end wins.”
“Sounds simple.” You snorted, words melting in sarcasm as you watched Bakugo spin the ball with the tips of his fingers before trapping it within them once again. He was oddly an expert at it, but you decided not to ask about his experience. The game counted down from ten and Bakugo positioned the ball slightly over his head with his elbows tucked in. You tried to mimic Bakugo’s stance as not to reveal that you had no idea what you were doing. A short beep sounded the start of the game and Bakugo rolled his hand the ball was tucked in and it shot into the air in a perfect arch before it swished into the basket. It bumped against the gate before falling back within the pile of its brothers. And soon you continuously heard the sound of swooshing as he consecutively made the shot every time.
You panicked once again. This time with no confidence that you could catch up to Bakugo’s points. You shot the ball towards the basket, inelegantly when compared to Bakugo’s form. Your elbow was out, and you thrusted your entire arm forward rather than shooting with your wrist. The ball slammed against the gate, making it jingle as it fell straight into the pile. You didn’t have time to think about your form. You started flinging balls in the air and prayed that one of them make it. Instead, they bounced against the iron rim with knotted rope. Some were fortunate not to suffer the blow of the iron rim and just fell directly back into their pile. The less unfortunate ones bounced back in retaliation towards your head, missing you completely and left to stray the arcade floors alone.
Bakugo’s points were climbing. It was unreachable now, so you abandoned the goal of winning to ending the game with at least a point. The swift swooshes of the basket whipped through the air and it was attracting a small crowd of children and curious adults around Bakugo. It was almost inhuman how he was scoring, and he had yet to miss.
“Amazing!” You heard a girl behind you say and you were damn well sure it wasn’t towards you.
It wasn’t that you gave up, but you kept the basketball in your hands and looked to your left at Bakugo. Your eyes had fallen on his face, his eyes and lips relaxed, almost serene-like. You wouldn’t say he looked one in his element, but he was definitely comfortable with what he was doing.
The beeps that signified the end of the game sounded from the machines and Bakugo’s score was a whopping 500 points, 10 points for every basket made. Your score was a disgrace. You didn’t even count it as a score because you didn’t make any. You weren’t on the board as embarrassing as you had to admit, but basketball just wasn’t your best sport.
“Where’d you learn how to do that?” You felt the need to ask, not in disbelief of his skills but in curiosity.
“I have a hoop in my room,” he replied. He didn’t want to let you know that he uses it when he needed to calm down. Usually after an argument with his mother, he would fling balls relentlessly at his hoop in frustration. His father had gifted it to him when he found out about his habit of blowing up small holes in the walls of his bedroom when he was heated. It helped significantly to control his anger and he even found himself shooting hoops whenever he was bored.
“Would you—Idon’tknow—maybe, teach me next time? Maybe?” Next time? What made you so confident that there was going to be a next time? In fact, you weren’t. You were testing out the waters, shooting hints at Bakugo to see if he was even interested in another date after today or even if he just wanted to hang out. You closed into yourself when you asked, your posture curved forward as if to hide yourself from him. You bit the bottom of your lip and couldn’t stop your cheeks from warming up. You were trying to be as bold as you could, as confident as you imagined yourself to be when you fantasize about this date last night. It was easier to dream that you were a confident, strong girl who knew what she wanted in this world and faced issues head on and didn’t get flustered by the mysterious feelings of a crush. But you knew the world in your head was a vast utopia, a world filled with desires that didn’t seem tangible in reality. Still, you urged yourself to try, because trying was a step closer to tangibility.
“Maybe,” he shrugged.
You: 1
Bakugo: 1
Bakugo wasn’t prepared for your question. He was still deciding whether to give in to his emotions or not and that sheepish expression on your face didn’t make it any easier. He was convinced it coerced him into responding in agreement to another date. He didn’t have the heart to deny that face or perhaps his heart didn’t want to.
He stuffed his hands in his pockets in habit, looking away when he did, his voice was so small that he nearly couldn’t hear it over the sounds of the blaring game machines in the vicinity. At first glance, anyone would believe he was upset but if they peered into his face, they would spot the flushed skin of his cheeks and nose and possibly his ears. He was hiding his feelings within, though, even if he was lying to himself, his body revealed all truths.
The last game would decide it all and you were ready. Because you gave Bakugo the right to pick twice, it was up to you to pick the final game. You guided Bakugo to the corner of the arcade, it was away from the valley of machines but not too far where you couldn’t hear them. The games at this corner were more traditional; darts, board games, air hockey, any game that didn’t need to be attached to a machine to work was there, including table tennis which was where you were pulling him towards. You wouldn’t say you were an expert at table tennis, but it was a sport you were decent in. Bakugo already had good hand-to-eye coordination so you knew this choice would make it a fair final game.
“Final game. You sure about this?” It was like the mellow Bakugo had retreated, and the bold and brash one came loose. The grin returned as it split across his face in a crooked slant from cheek to cheek. He looked the best when he was smirking, his eyes narrowed slightly with a glint of mischief—almost like it was melting with sin.
“Wouldn’t you want to end this with something fun?” You returned his smile with a question, but it looked more innocent than his. You were starting to notice the vast differences between you and Bakugo, not only in style but even in personality. It was odd that you two were attracted to each other. You didn’t believe in the saying, ‘opposites attract’, but you had to admit there was some truth behind it.
“Look, I just hope you’re ready to sing for me again.”
Again? “I’m surprised you haven’t learned from last time about being too cocky.”
“Only thing I learned is to not go easy on you.”
Your eyes rolled. “Oh please, do not pull that crap on me now. I won fair and square. And what do you mean ‘Again’? What made you think I was singing for you the first time?”
You had expected to hear another one of Bakugo’s boastful remarks, but you were delighted by his smile instead. It was far from a soft one and was closely associated with the last one that held mischief. It was a smile that knew the ups and downs and ins and outs of your mind without barely even knowing you. How was that possible? You didn’t know. But you did know Bakugo had a very perceptive character even if his brass personality didn’t make him seem so.
If only you also knew he was bluffing, then you wouldn’t have blushed the way you did, confirming his suspicions about how you acted during karaoke. It was nice for him to know that those stolen glances at him weren’t all for show.
You didn’t realize how intense table tennis was. You knew where it derived from held some tension during its matches. Watching the US Opens, French Opens, and other major tennis tournaments with your family often had you near the edge of your seat. You would see the crowds snapping their heads from right to left at the speed of the ball before erupting into cheers once the ball fell out. Your father would jump out of his seat, a fist wringing in the air, as a point was added to the score of his favorite player and the umpire would call to settle down the crowd, but the excitement erupted to where silence couldn’t be an option. But soon, the crowd knew the match wouldn’t continue unless they settled, and they hushed each other until all that sounded was the ball bouncing to and from the green synthetic surface and into the player’s hand. This memory, you recalled, was like you were reliving it except you and Bakugo were the players with the onlookers being the patrons of the arcade.
The sound around you were muffled against your eardrums, nothing but the base of your heart resounding in rhythmic beats and the tennis ball slamming against your paddle, releasing a loud ‘pock!’ before bouncing back onto the table court and into Bakugo’s side. He moved like lightning, the arm of his muscles tensing at the exact moment the ball touched his paddle. A grunt had left him as he returned the ball onto your side and a thunderous sound erupted from the impact. You returned it just as swiftly.
It was match point for Bakugo and you could tell he was swinging harder, faster. He wanted to end this game as desperate as you wanted it to continue.
“Shit!” He hissed when you returned the ball and it hit the table in an odd angle but managed to fly past his paddle. You evened out the score and it was your turn to serve. Two more scores and you would be the winner, but you knew Bakugo wasn’t going to make it easy for you.
The first ball you served hit the table and managed to slip past him. Or was he?
Bakugo chuckled darkly, one that rattled your core when it reached your ears. You allowed it to frazzle you and your next serve was easily deflected and the ball zoomed past you, evening the score yet again.
“I’m not going down that fucking easy,” he declared, and you wordlessly picked up another ball to serve.
The score went from even to either you or Bakugo having the advantage to even again. It continued for as many times until you had lost count. The tension grew to unbearable heights, the patrons were ‘ooo-ing’ and ‘ahh-ing’, some urging for your win and others for Bakugo’s, but you didn’t let their cheers distract you and neither did he. A faint sweetness lingered in the vicinity and it could only be coming from the sweat that shined Bakugo’s skin. An aroma that reminded you of being in the training room and whenever it was Bakugo’s turn to spar, your nose would be blessed by that scent while the others, specifically the boys would secretly tease him for it, too afraid to openly do it unless they wanted to face his wrath.
The ball flew from your side to Bakugo’s side repeatedly and it was about a minute until the ball zipped past you and Bakugo yelled in victory as well as his fans.
“One more fucking point!” He roared and raised his racket in the air, confidence spewing from his body language like he already won. All you did was glare at him, ignoring the reassurance from your encouragers but you didn’t understand why they treated you like you lost when clearly the game was still on. They were underestimating you, them and Bakugo, and you knew you had to prove them wrong. You tightened the ball in your hands and licked the sweat off your lips. Bakugo had a terrifying smirk on his face when he went into his stance, gripping his racket until the veins in his arms started pulsating.
You served the ball and hit it with all your might.
Bakugo had been wondering what brought him back to sitting on the couches in one of the karaoke venues again. A much smaller room than the one he was in on that day he went with the class, it still held in resemblance, though, the atmosphere of it was nearly suffocating. He was without his boys, without a distraction from you, the beautiful girl who was scrolling through the list of songs with a remote, humming softly when lingered on a title before continuing on. Another glance around the room had him questioning his reason for being here. Hadn’t he lost? Clearly, you weren’t going to reward him for losing, right? Although, he had paid for a 30-minute rental for a venue, so he suppose that was his punishment. It nearly put a dent in his wallet.
“So, you’re gonna sing for me anyway.” Whether it was a question or a statement, you still flashed a smile at him when you stopped at the title you were searching for. It was startling how just a simple curve of your lips could make his heart stop, his breath hitch, and make him all want to drop what he was doing just to feel them slobbering over his. He was a fool, a fool desperately yearning for the girl sitting right beside him, your leg barely brushing his and sending his mind in a flurry of emotions.
Fuck. Get a hold of yourself. He rehashed in his head repeatedly. It didn’t help that the only other presence in the room was you.
“No,” you drawled, reaching to swipe two microphones from the table in front of you. “I want you to sing with me.”
“Hell no,” he abruptly said, pushing the microphone away when you pressed it against his lap. “I don’t fucking sing.”
“A bet is a bet,” you reminded him, and he let out a groan, “besides you’re not really singing. You’re, like, slow rapping.”
“Are you stupid? And what the fuck is slow rapping anyway?”
“I don’t know I made it up. It’s like rapping but it’s slow!” You giggled, and like a reflex, his stomach flipped. You still tossed the microphone at him and as reluctant as he was, he followed you when you pulled him by the arm to stand up, not allowing himself to be drag because he held too much pride within himself to be dragged by the likes of anyone. You had missed his grumble when he confirmed your stupidity, and when you had questioned him with a hum, he remained silent, gripping the microphone in hand to relay his frustrations upon it.
He found himself standing in the middle of the room facing the tv while you were in front of him, gleaming up at him with a smile as the television’s light splashed against your back. Once again, you didn’t seem to need the lyrics because when you started the song, you remained facing him, tossing the remote where you were sitting and bringing the microphone close to your lips. He felt jealousy creeping behind his shoulder at the inanimate object (that held no soul) that had the privilege of touching what he desired. He wondered adamantly how foolish his feelings were going to make him?
The song had started with the melody of a distorted accordion mixed with electronic sound effects that these popular pop music writers loved to add in their tracks. Bakugo was a stranger to this kind of music as his go-to-genre was rock, metal, and sometimes even rap so when you were swaying side to side at the peppy beat that swirled itself into the existing melody, he could only watch as he waited for your voice.
“I'm a motherfuckin' train wreck. I don't wanna be too much,” and there it was, hitting him like a smooth wave slamming into the rocky side of a mountain, carrying his previous frustration into the endless ocean to never resurface again. Once your voice had reached his eardrums, it had placed him under your spell, one he wished would never break as chills walked his skin like they scavenged for mysteries of their birth. Velvet melted from your mouth, sweetness formed into honey and kissed your voice box, blessing it with the gift to open heaven’s gate with a single note.
“But I don't wanna miss your touch. And you don't seem to give a fuck,” his lips had adversely failed him when he fought to keep them from upturning into a smirk, more specifically at the arousing feeling of you cursing. The chills continued to pry around his back and shoulders and the upper part of his arm where you had gently caressed him for a moment, eyes moving to hold his benevolent stare that he blissfully wasn’t aware he was making.
When the beat of the song picked up and greeted the chorus, you had pulled away from him, turning around until your back faced him, your eyes still on him with your head turned to look behind you, a playful smile curling on your lips. Without doubt, a fire was lit from within him.
“You ain't my boyfriend. And I ain't your girlfriend. But you don't want me to see nobody else. And I don't want you to see nobody,” you bounced your body with the beat, the voice of the original singer echoing the last words of the lyrics or otherwise singing with you. You meant to stroll back to Bakugo once you turned around, but he already closed the distance between you two, eyes somewhat wide and searching within yours for any meaning between those lyrics to be true. “But you ain't my boyfriend. And I ain't your girlfriend. But you don't want me to touch nobody else. Baby, we ain't gotta tell nobody…”
The search for the truth in your eyes nearly made Bakugo miss his line. He started out shaky, startled at how fast it came when the screen prompted for the second singer to start. It oddly reminded him of Deku when he pitifully struggled to sing with Uraraka, so he quickly found his rhythm to avoid the same embarrassment, his singing, that was mostly him talking but elongating his words, sonorous in pitch yet rough at the edges.
“I…I promise the way we fight make me honestly feel like we just in lo—the fuck are these lyrics?” He abruptly growled, his voice caught between ire and mortification when he read the sappy lines that made you blush. You squeezed his arm to urge him to continue, already missing a few lines with how fast the song was going. It wasn’t like he had a choice, he sucked his teeth before bitterly singing through gritted teeth. “I lose my mind when it comes to you. I take time with the ones I choose. And I don't want to smile if it ain't from you, yeah.”
Your voice returned for the chorus soon after his part was done, and he never felt so relieved to hear your voice. He didn’t have a clue how you were so comfortable singing, yet it was hard for you to speak in class whenever you were answering a question. You were bold, daring, confidence spelled within your eyes and shyness was nothing more than a distant relative. You let the music guide you, boldness encouraging you to guide Bakugo’s unoccupied hand to your waist as you danced, his touch barely even felt through your clothes as fear had struck him. Even with consent, he questioned within himself if this was okay. Though, the ghostly feel of the arch of your waist to your hips under his palm had abolished all uncertainty. He was a teenage boy, after all.
He was careful not to move his hand anywhere you didn’t place it but even that was hard whenever you would move your body to the song, sometimes his hand would fall lower towards your hip and he would quickly return it to your waist, so he wouldn’t lose the privilege of touching you.
But when you moved closer to his body until your shirts were caressing, your bright eyes inhabited a world in which he wanted to be a part of, his fingers curled slightly into the newly founded lace sewed into the sides of your shirt, a detail he missed earlier when he was stunned by your beauty. His grip on his microphone went loose against his fingertips and threaten to fall, his face was so close to yours and if it weren’t for the microphone against your lips, Bakugo would’ve closed the gap between you urged by the yearn he felt to touch them.
The two of you were now sharing one microphone, eyes locked onto each other’s, unwavering as they embodied the passion of want.
“If you were my boyfriend…” You sang softly, your vocals sweet and heavy.
“And you were my girlfriend…” Bakugo spoke, his voice harboring that same softness of yours which was foreign to him. He was no longer able to sing, and the song carried on with no vocals as you too were rendered speechless by how thick with warmth his words sounded. There was no indication that the two of you were going to continue the song nor did you encourage him to. The melody was left as background noise as you became trapped in Bakugo’s gaze. How they fidgeted about on your face, taking in your irises, the shape of your nose, the blemishes upon your cheeks and your forehead, the shape of your cheekbones, your chin, and lastly your lips. Gradually, they were moving closer to Bakugo’s just as the microphone was slipping away from between.
If only it wasn’t for the raging scream of Bakugo’s phone trapped within the constraints of his jacket’s pocket, he would’ve already felt the soft press of your lips against his. He had never turned so fast, so dramatically before in his life. He was already digging through his pocket, fingers already mindlessly tapping at the screen once he pulled his phone out and you swore his hands were going to ignite into an explosive if it weren’t translated into the roar that came out of his mouth.
“What!” The person on the other end was no other than his mother who was informing him about coming home at a respectable time. The rage he used to answer his phone was hammered back at him with that same force. You could hear his mother’s screech that certainly reminded you of Bakugo’s, just more feminine.
The heated moment between you two ended with Bakugo screaming into his phone with a colorful combination of profanities you have never even thought of and you were surprised that his mother was worse in her usage of language, even threatening to ‘come down over there’ if he didn’t show some respect.
“Bakugo, this was fun, thanks for coming with me,” You smiled softly to the short grunt that came from Bakugo after. He was walking slightly ahead of you, hands in his pockets like usual with his head slightly down. He was wearing his black earphones but only his ear that was away from you had them in while the other earbud hung loosely near his chest. He hasn’t been able to look at you since you two left the karaoke booth and he thought himself a fool that he couldn’t stare at you for more than two seconds without feeling embarrassed about what had happened. Bakugo handled embarrassment the same exact way he handled every emotion that didn’t fit his tough exterior, it fuel his anger and he turned into a grumpy mess, silent yet aching to explode if someone were to speak to him. Though he could never do that to you. No matter how much his anger seemed to tip over, he couldn’t imagine you being at the end of it.
The walk back to your house was as silent as the walk to the arcade. Bakugo wasn’t really sure what to say, whether to question you about what had happened before that untimely interruption or just leave it up in the air. Did you actually like him…? Like how he liked you? Or was he imagining everything, misreading the signs like an idiot hoping the girl he liked actually liked him back? You were a nice girl without a doubt. Bakugo could see that every time he would watch you train with the girls or when you would give up the last dessert to Mina during lunch time or when you would feed the stray cat at the back of the school or when you would always, always greet him with a smile in the mornings if you were to cross paths with him and then Bakugo would think he was special until you would do the same for Deku shortly after. You were a nice girl indeed so for all he knew, you could’ve been hanging out with him out of the kindness of your heart, giving him all this attention because you were too nice to say no to a date. Then again, it didn’t explain what happened in the booth because that was all you and you were—dare he say it—flirting.
Bakugo stopped walking, turning halfway to look at you. You blinked, wondering why he stopped and was now staring at you, mouth slightly open like he wanted to say something.
“Something on your mind?” You asked him, cocking your head to the side slightly, but he simply stayed staring for what felt like an eternity and it made your cheeks burn.
When Bakugo realized he was just repeating the question he wanted to ask in his head without saying it was when he swiftly turned his back to you and continued to walk. “…Just hurry up… it’s getting dark,” but it was only around 4pm and Bakugo didn’t know that it was capable for him to feel so stupid, first, losing his ability to speak as soon as he looked at you and second, instantly regretting his words as the sun was still wide awake in the skies.
But I don’t want this to end, was what you wanted to say but you found your words stuck in your throat, afraid that Bakugo might not feel the same as you.
“Um… thank you for walking me home. Today was really fun,” you said when you reached your front door and turned to Bakugo. You told him that repeatedly throughout the walk, you really had no other way to express how happy you were. You felt that a hug would’ve been too uncomfortable for him as you’ve never seen Bakugo express any affection physically. “I kind of wish it didn’t end…”
“Ah—well, you know, time.” What the fuck was he saying? He growled under his breath, frustrated that not only was he losing his thoughts to you but his language.
Oddly enough to him, you understood and chuckled. Fuck the butterflies in his stomach. “I know. There’s just not enough of it… I guess I’ll see you Monday, then?”
“Yeah,” you waited for him to leave but he stayed staring at your face. Perhaps even longer than he did before, and you saw him aggressively move his hand within his pocket like he was fumbling with something. He spoke your name softly because he thought he had lost your attention, but he in fact had it because he was all you could focus on the entirety of the date. “You had fun, right?” He knew you had said it multiple times, but he wanted to ask because he couldn’t believe it himself.
“Yeah, of course, it was the best Saturday I had in a while,” Bakugo felt like you had to have been lying but that wide smile held all the truth in the world.
“Then—this,” Bakugo pulled a small piece of paper out of his pocket and gave it to you. “You wanna go with me next Saturday?”
You took a good look at what he gave you, nearly dropping it when you read out the words. “Di-Disneyland?! I—yes! Yes, I wanna go with you!” you clutched your ticket to your chest. Desperate to calm your beating heart, you wanted to fan your heated cheeks but instead you tucked the loose strands of your hair behind your ear, realizing that Bakugo could very well be asking you out on another date. “A-As another date…?”
“Sure.” He grumbled, looking away from you for a moment and returning his hands to his pockets. “Then Saturday, I’ll text you the details.”
You nodded frantically at him with one of those large smiles he loved, and he said his goodbye and left your doorstep. You glanced at the ticket in your hands and jumped excitedly on the balls of your feet. It was hard to believe that Bakugo invited you to Disneyland. You didn’t think he was interested in that kind of stuff but there was a little part of you that wanted to believe he was going just for you. Oh, you so wanted to be right!
Before you knew it, you heard a call of your name and Bakugo was already back in front of you. He quickly leaned forward, and it felt as fast as it came. You saw a glimpse of his red cheeks hidden behind a frown and furrowed brows. “For today. See you Monday,” he quickly said before he turned around and left, leaving you stunned on your doorstep. Of all the things that happened today, the least thing you expected was Bakugo Katsuki kissing you on your cheek.
Bakugo stormed out of there as fast as he could, fingers touching his lips as he realized what he had done. He just acted. He felt like he couldn’t leave without doing something to finish off this day but—Bakugo groaned loudly, throwing his hands up in frustration—he didn’t even stay to see your reaction if you liked it or not. What if he arrives home and you text him to cancel the date because you felt uncomfortable about what he did? He was stupid, utterly stupid! He should’ve read the mood instead of acting on his urges.
He continued to berate himself in his head until he finally convinced himself that you liked it because who wouldn’t like a kiss from him especially since he was taking you to Disneyland.
Later that night when he was lounging on his bed, you texted him to once again thank him for today and that you looked forward to Saturday. Bakugo grinned to himself and replied ‘same’ before shutting his phone and closing his eyes. He thought he would be able to put his thoughts about you to rest but he couldn’t help but try to relive the events of today. Especially the feeling of your cheek against his lips.
As he expected, your cheeks were the softest thing he ever felt. The last thing he recalled was hoping to sleep and suddenly wake up to it being next Saturday.

*RUNS TO YOUR ASKS* ALL OF THEM- ALL OF THE PHYSICAL FEATURES ASK GAME QUESTIONS FOR- FOR CARTER PLS!!!!!!!!!!!!🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺❤️
AJDHAKSFJEK
okay carter under the cut cuz this is longggg lmao
oc appearance asks
👁 - Brown! A very medium, warm and welcoming brown. The kind that makes people want to spill all their secrets even when he’s frowning. They’re not super noticeable at first, their shadowed by his usually creased eyebrows and the sharp lines that make up the rest of his features. But the wrinkles from laughter in the corners, the warmth of them, the slight shift in colour when the light hits, make it impossible for you to look away once you really see them.
✋ - Definitely rough, but in recent years he’s started trying to use more mosturiser and skincare products in general. There’s a few old scars on his fingers from when he was a teenager, and they’re just generally sun-worn and covered in old marks. But that’s not to say they’re not gentle. He’s very careful with his grip and playing music for years has made him very nimble. His nails are usually pretty short, anything too long and he starts bugging out over things getting stuck under them, even if nothing ever does. And there’s usually some couple week old, chipped nail polish on them from when Marco or Ty manage to get to him.
🦵 - He’s relatively strong. He’s lifted heavy stuff since he was a teenager when stocking at his various restaurant jobs, so there’s some muscle under there. He has a traditional sleeve that he’s always particular about covering with sunscreen, but can’t usually be bothered to do anywhere else. So he has freckles and sun marks on the rest of him. For mannerisms, he taps his fingers to certain songs, running through whatever melody is currently stuck in his head.
👄 - He doesn’t smile much, at least not the kind where you can see his teeth or the little dimple on one side. He’s always trying to hide it, because it’s the most inappropriate or ridiculous jokes that make him laugh, and he doesn’t want to give his friends the satisfaction. He chews the inside of his cheek when he gets nervous, but has been trying to stop since his ex used to get annoyed by it.
👤 - He’s pretty lucky in that he never had bad acne. He’d get a zit here or there, but never had to stress about it. He has a few scars from bad ideas - he seems to be drawn to people that have many of those - and the tattoo sleeve. His skin is pretty dry, would crack when the weather got hot, which was what initially started the skin care, but then he ended up liking how it looked as well as how it felt.
💇 - He changes his hair quite often. Colours-wise, he tends to favour blue, black, and like an ombre to blonde, but he’s done a whole bunch. Different reds, pinks, purple, green, anything Marco has in their bathroom. Style-wise, he likes having it long but out of his face, so cornrows, various braids, often tied back, and he had dreads for a while when he was younger, just hasn’t grown them back out.
🦷 - He has one really crooked tooth that he used to be insecure about, but he started getting over it in his 20s, when he just didn’t want to care too much. He has a lot of coffee stains and somehow always seemed to be complaining about getting a cavity filled, but when he started taking care of his skin he started brushing and flossing more too.
👖 - Short sleeves, tank tops, and ripped jeans. He’s pretty simple. Fashion just never caught his eye the way hair did, and good clothes were always made to seem too expensive, so he found what clothes were comfortable and stuck with it. He has a corduroy jacket that he wears all the time to the amusement of his mates, but he loves it anyway. He has cross earrings that he wears a lot, he just likes the way they glittered, and sometimes Yasmin buys him other pairs. His favourites are this hanging chain type one and a pair of hoops that Ty gave him. He only wears the hoops on special occasions.
👀 - Hair, especially when it’s a bright colour. He’s very particular about it regardless, but bright teal tends to catch eyes lol
🪞 - He’s never put much thought into it. His body is his body, no point getting worked up over it. He was a pretty scrawny kid, and that changed in his 20s, leading to his beloved dad bod. If he cared more about his body, he wouldn’t have gotten anything done, that’s at least how he sees it. But he’s definitely become more confident as he got older and settled more into himself, like in his style and just general demeanor. He’s proud of who he’s become, and he’s become that person with the appearance he already had.

Meeting You In The Hallway Part 3
Tumblr media
a/n: HII lovely people! I hope you are all doing well today! This is part 3 of Meeting you in the Hallway.
What it is: You move into the apartment across the hall from Harry and you begin a friendship which you both want more from but can’t communicate that want.
Word Count: 4k
Warning: fluff, angst, cursing, and sexual tension again bc why not.
Lil fun fact: new character in this part named Derek, there's ~some~ (honestly a lot of truth) truth to this character. Different name obvs. If you wanna picture somebody, picture Jacob Elordi, because that’s kind of what the real dude looks like.
Pls reblog if you like it 😊 Thank you for all the support so far! Means the fuckin world! Lot of dialogue in this one, let me know if yall like that or not. I think there will be one more part which will wrap this all up.
~~~
You both decided to just sit in silence after you ate, just laying your heads back.
"Do you have morphine?"
"Harry just because I work in a hospital doesn’t mean I have hard drugs lying around my apartment"
"Thought you could sneak some, excuse me" he waves his hands up in surrender.
You sigh, "No, there's a thing called inventory that gets checked every day. And what is it with you and morphine?"
"What do you mean?"
"It was in your song yesterday"
His head quickly looks over at you, "You remember yesterday?"
"I remember everything before the tequila shots" you pinch the bridge of your nose.
"Oh okay" he avoids your question about morphine and maybe if you didn't have a headache you'd keep pushing for an answer.
Your phone rings and it’s an odd looking number, its 10 digits long.
"Har, look at this number"
He looked over before laying his head back against your couch, "Its European"
"European?" you picked up, "Hello?"
"y/n?"
"Yeah who's this?"
Harry was listening, just didn’t show it.
"Hey um, it’s me, Derek. I don’t know if you remember me"
"Oh yeah. Sorry give me a sec." You pressed the mute button, double checked it was on, then whisper yelled, "holy fucking shit!!"
"What? Who's Derek?"
"This guy I had a hugee crush on in college. He was a year above me. We helped each other in Psych. We wo- hold on I need to answer him" you unmuted the call.
"Hey Derek"
"Hey um I was just wondering if you still lived here? In New York. I'm here for a trade meeting."
"Trade meeting?"
"Yeah with my agent, remember? Basketball?"
"Oh yeah, right. Okay. Um yeah I actually live in the city now"
"Oh, that’s great. Did you wanna grab dinner sometime? I’m here until Friday"
"Y-yeah we could settle on something"
"Okay. I'll uh text you a time and date"
"Yeah okay. Cool"
"Cool. Uh bye"
"Bye" you hung up quick. "Holy shit"
"That was the worst conversation I've ever heard in my life" he laughed.
"Shut up we were both nervous" you hit him with a pillow.
"Who is he again?"
"Long story short, we took Psych together in college and he was on the basketball team so every girl was obsessed but we would hang out all the time. A few nights before he graduated, we had like a moment. It was so romantic," you blushed thinking about it and Harry hated it, "and well, the next week he was gone to play basketball in Europe. It was like maybe right person but wrong time?" Harry swallowed before facing you, "Does that mean you see a future with him? If it was right person, wrong time?"
You looked at him and shook your head, "A girl could dream but I don’t know. I don't think I know him the way I used to you know? It's been like 4 years."
"But you're going on a date"
"No harm in that, right?" For some reason it was like you wanted his permission.
"Yeah, I guess, you said he played basketball in Europe?"
"Yeah, his name is Derek Belov, he's really tall."
"Belov? You're joking me."
"I'm not, you know him?"
"Yeah," he shrugs, "he's big over there. Only over there I guess."
You shrug, "I could honestly care less about it. He's a cool guy in general"
"I have a headache, I'm gonna lay down" he says as he adjusts himself on your couch and puts his feet in your lap. He puts your tv on and watches the office.
You check your phone and Derek had texted you about seven minutes ago. It’s alright though because you didn’t want to seem too excited. You two began texting and settled on a date that night. He swore he didn’t need to fight off the jetlag so you agreed. He'd pick you up at 6, It was almost noon now, so you had plenty of time.
"I'm leaving at 6, he'll pick me up."
"The least he could do, will it be a limo?" you could hear the bitterness in his voice but you blamed it on his hangover.
"No." you slid down your couch and harry tucked your feet under his arm while keeping his eyes on the tv.
You stayed like this for a while, you set an alarm for four o'clock so you wouldn't let time escape.
"Har, when was the last time you went on a date?" you wondered if this could answer your question from last night. If Harry was hooking up with somebody.
" I don't know why?"
"Well like years, months, weeks?"
"Month or so I guess"
"Oh okay, I was just wondering. I guess you could relate to me then. Dating life."
"Yeah sure"
He was being super dismissive and you hated it. You were tired of it actually. You sparked 0 conversation and once your alarm went off, he went back to his apartment and you got ready.
 ~~~
When harry got back to his apartment he felt angry. Angry with the way you spoke about that Derek guy. The fact that you were going on a date with him. He wanted to ruin your plans but he knew he couldn't be selfish. He felt bad for not being the supportive friend he knew you wanted in that moment. With a big sigh and heavy heart, he walked across the hall and knocked on your door 3 times.
You slowly went to open the door, already annoyed with Harry, you opened it with an eyeroll.
"What Harry?"
"I've come in peace," he said with a cheesy smile, "Look I'm sorry for being dismissive earlier I was really just not feeling well and well I'm sorry. Can I help you pick out your outfit now or whatever a girlfriend of yours would do? I even volunteer to do your makeup"
You rolled your eyes and opened the door wider, " Fine. Help me pick an outfit and I wanna borrow the earrings you have on. I like the simple loop look" you said as you walked deeper into your apartment.
"Deal."
You walked into your bedroom where you had a black lace lingerie set on your bed. Harry pretended he didn’t see it as he sat down next to it on your bed.
"I think I might wear a blouse with some high waisted jeans?”
"Yeah I mean why not just go comfy. Wear sweats and a baggy tee. I could lend you one of mine." He winked towards you.
"Harry," you gave him a warning look, "We're having dinner at a restaurant, I'm not gonna wear sweatpants." you looked through your closet and grabbed some black high waisted skinny jeans and tossed them towards Harry. They hit him right in the chest.
"Hey," he grinned at you and laid the jeans flat on your bed. "So is your theme black tonight." he said referencing to the lingerie on your bed.
"Um, I don't know. I think I got too excited. I don't think I'm gonna actually wear it."
"How come? You don't want something to happen?" He hoped not but he kept that to himself.
"I don’t need lingerie to make something happen Harry." he loved your confidence but he hid his smile and nodded.
You grabbed a light blue silky button up blouse from your closet and turned around to face him. "So, I'm thinking tuck the shirt in, roll up the sleeves, and white vans?"
"Sounds.. good"
You nodded and stepped in between his legs from where he was sitting on your bed and then got down to your knees and reached under your bed reaching for a box. The sight made him want to pull you on top of him but he knew he couldn't. Were you teasing him? You pulled a small box and placed it on his lap. Which he was a little thankful because his bulge was only growing in his pants.
"It's my jewelry box, could you pick out some bracelets or something?"
"Yeah, okay" he nodded.
As he kept his head down you went behind him to take off your shirt. You buttoned it up and then jumped into your jeans. Once you finished you faced his front again.
"Should I leave the top two unbuttoned or three?" you said as you unbuttoned a third to show. It showed more cleavage but still wasn't too much.
He rubbed his head and looked anywhere but your chest for too long. "I think two is fine. Leave three for another time. It's still just the first date"
"Aw Harold, you think I'm getting a second date? You're getting better at this girlfriend thing."
"Yeah yeah, here" he passed you his choice of bracelets and his earrings that he took off and you put them on. You enjoyed the fact that you could do this with him.
He grabbed your wrist and turned you around slowly so you were facing your full-length body mirror. You saw him lift his cross necklace above his head and then over yours. He adjusted it between your breast which made you suck in a breath. He felt satisfied when he heard your breath hitch just little bit.
"For good luck." But really he wanted you to remember him while you were out.
You looked him in the eyes through the mirror and whispered, "You don't have to, I've never even seen you take this off"
"Don’t worry about it" He leaned forward and moved your hair to the side and kissed your cheek.
His lips lingered on your cheek for a bit until you heard a knock on your door. You both jumped and walked away from each other.
"I could get it if you want. I know you need to put your shoes on and whatever else."
"Y-yeah please." You felt so confused. You were so excited to go on this date but now you just wanted to stay home with Harry. Feeling his lips on your cheeks made you want to stay and feel his lips on yours. You finished tying your shoes and put some mascara and light makeup.
Harry approached the door and took in a deep breath. When he opened the door, Harry wanted to say "what the fuck" but he actually said,
"Hello, I'm Harry"
"Oh uh, I think I've got the wrong place"
"Looking for Y/n?" he fucking hated that he had to look up to this guy. Damn basketball player, his guess was 6"7. (Derek was actually 6"9)
"Yeah?"
"Yeah she's in here, come in"
"Oh okay," he crouched down just a little to walk. "Do you live here?"
"No across the hall, I'm Y/n's best friend" he grinned. They walked into your living room and took seats waiting for you. Derek nodded at Harry's answer and rubbed his hands against his thighs. Harry noticed his nervousness and debated whether or not to use this to his advantage.
"So where are you taking her?"
"A restaurant, near the Statue of Liberty."
"Nice. Been there before?" maybe with another woman?
"No, actually" Derek looked around like he was becoming impatient with Harry.
You walked out and Derek stood up instantly.
"Wow, y/n it’s so nice to see you," he said as he bent down to give you a hug. It was almost a 2-foot height difference. Harry looked away as it happened. You hugged him back remembering his smell. Some Armani cologne if you remember correctly. Different than Harry's Tom Ford one but why were you even thinking of Harry?
"You too. Let's go? I'm hungry."
"Still the same I see"
"Old habits die hard," you winked. "Har, close the door behind you?"
He nodded at you. You felt bad for some reason and walked over to him and gave him a hug and kiss on the cheek.
"Thanks for everything," you smiled up at him.
"Yeah, no problem." he blushed but you couldn't tell in this lighting.
As you were walking out your apartment with Derek beside you, you felt your phone vibrate in your pocket. You reached into your pocket behind you and saw Harry had texted you.
H: Let me know when you get home please? Or if you stay at his place? Just wanna know you’re okay. Xx
Y/n: most likely coming home H, I’ll let you know tho :)
Harry debated whether or not to ask if she wanted him to stay at her apartment but he didn’t want to intrude on her plans if she wanted to bring Derek back home. He hoped not. He decided to just not answer.
You and Derek approach the elevator and wait.
“I like your necklace, it’s nice”
“Oh yeah, thanks” you fiddled with it.
The elevator doors opened and you made small talk all the way until the restaurant. You had finally made it to Gigino’s, an Italian restaurant by the waterfront at Wagner Park. It was beautifully lit. You’d never been on a date quite like this one. After you finished ordering your drinks, you spoke up.
“I’m surprised you remembered me. It’s been so long”
"I honestly couldn't forget you" he smiled but looked down trying to hide from you.
You bit the inside of your cheek and reached over to put your hand over his. He looked different, more manly.
"How's the big dream been?"
"More exhausting than I thought it would be. I thought college ball was similar to professional but they're nowhere near close. How's nursing?"
"Good, I have many kids I like to think are my own. I work on the pediatric cancer floor."
"Oh wow, that must be tough"
"It can be, can also be rewarding."
"I'm sure you're great for the job"
"Thank you."
Your food came interrupting your conversation but you didn't really mind. You ordered tagliatelle with mixed shellfish. You nearly moaned at the first bite, it was so good.
"So, Harry.. Best friend he says?"
You laughed a little, "Yeah, the bestest." you couldn't believe Harry said that. You weren't mad, you were humored.
"How long have you known him?"
"Few months"
"He hang around a lot?"
"Derek? Why the 20 questions?"
"Sorry, sorry, I was just wondering. Threw me off I guess." He sipped his wine.
"It's okay. Um yeah, I moved in and we became really good friends. We're just always there for each other. That's all." Lies.com.
"Okay. Could I be honest though?"
"Yes," Here we go…
"He likes you."
"Oh my god Derek," you rubbed your temples.
"He does okay, a guy can tell. I really don't care though. I mean, you're here with me right now."
You didn’t know how to take his last comment. Was it cocky? Was it trusting? Genuine? You felt awkward. You just continued eating quietly.
"I'm sorry, I've gone and made this awkward haven't I?"
"Yep."
You had lost your appetite and so you told the waiter you'd like to take the rest home. Derek had finished his plate.
"Dessert?" the waiter asked with his thick Italian accent and gave you the menus. You looked it over and saw the chocolate covered strawberries with whipped cream. Your weakness.
"Do you still like chocolate covered strawberries?"
A little surprised you looked up from the menu and nodded. Derek ordered for you and bought himself a tiramisu.
"Surprised you remembered that too."
"y/n, I don’t think you realize that I was in love with you."
Was.
"Bullshit."
"I'm serious! I was. But I had to leave, my dad would've killed me if I didn’t continue his legacy in the game."
"Yeah I know, how is Mr. Bolev?"
"We don't talk."
"Oh." Now you made it awkward. This night was becoming… disastrous?
"Well, yeah I was. I wish I'd said it sooner, who knows what would've happened."
Maybe it was the wine, but you felt a little tingly. You sipped and squinted at him.
"Yeah, who knows?"
"Care to find out?" he grinned.
"Can't go back in time sweetheart."
"No but maybe I could show you something similar."
You laughed and stayed quiet as the waiter came out with your strawberries. He watched you as you ate your strawberries. You might've been doing it a little seductively if you were honest. You wiped the corners of your mouth with your finger and sucked on them lightly.
"Fuck," he mumbled and called the waiter over. "Check please?"
You laughed and drank your water. You’ve had enough wine.
"Do you wanna walk around the park?"
"Its dark," you leaned in to whisper, "There's rats. I've seen them"
"Holy shit, no way."
You nodded his way and he looked around nervously. You giggled at how big he was yet scared of a tiny, well sometimes big, rat. He paid quickly and grabbed your hand running out of there. You made it to his car and got in.
"So, where to?"
"Um where you got me from?"
"Right." You don’t know why, but you wanted to feel something. You wanted to see if there was anything there still. He was nice, but he wasn’t… he wasn’t what you thought you wanted anymore. If things went wrong you could blame it on the wine. You leaned across the center console before he could pull out of his parking spot and grabbed his face and kissed him. He kissed you back instantly and you felt nothing. Nada. You kissed him deeper trying to find something, anything. You just had a romantic dinner and now felt nothing? What sick game was life playing? He placed his hand on your hips and encouraged you get on top. You complied and straddled him. Now you felt something. He was already hard and he felt big. You had this internal battle in your head of whether you should grind on him or not. You didn’t want to give him the wrong intention. What were your intentions?
"You're here till Friday?" you asked breathing a little heavy.
"Yeah," he licked his lips and you kissed them again.
Maybe a hookup wouldn't be horrible. But maybe not on the first date.
"You free tomorrow?"
"Mhm," he kissed you and you leaned against his wheel setting the horn off. You both jumped and laughed. He put his hand on your cheek and kissed you softly. "Let’s get out of here?"
You nodded and he drove to your building.
"Do you wanna hang out tomorrow?" he looked over at you as he put the car in park.
"Yeah. I'll text you when I'm free and stuff."
"Okay." Maybe he expected an invitation upstairs but you weren't in the mood to give him one. You really wanted to go upstairs and knock on Harry's door. You wanted to hang out with him. Derek reached his hand over and played with your, actually Harry's, necklace. Little did he know... He tugged it lightly and leaned in towards you. You gave him a quick kiss and said goodnight. You practically ran inside wanting to change. You went into your apartment and changed into some pajama shorts and a baggy t shirt. You put your slippers on and walked across the hall and knocked three times. You heard harry yell a, 'finally!' before he opened the door. When he opened the door, it seemed it wasn't you he was expecting.
"oh, y/n?" his eyes were red.
"Who were you expecting? Are you crying?"
"No um no, and pizza."
"Can I come in?"
"Um I don’t think that's the best idea."
"Harry what's going on?"
He leaned against the door so you could walk in. Lo and behold he was watching The Vampire Diaries without you. It was the scene where Damon was trapped on the Other side and told Elena how much he loved her but she couldn't hear him.
"Are you serious?"
"I got bored okay!"
"Were you crying over this scene?"
"Maybe."
"Aw, poor baby." you walked up to him and pinched his cheeks.
"How was your date?" he said as he pushed your hands down gently.
You stayed looking up at him, "It was good, food was good," he kept eye contact with you and you didn’t even realize he was still holding your hand.
"He didn't walk you up?"
"No, I kind of didn't let him. I wanted to hang out."
He gave your hand a light squeeze and tried to hide his smile. "Doesn't sound like it went all that well then"
"It was fine Har," you dropped his hands and walked towards his couch. "I should be mad at you for watching without me."
"I know, will you ever forgive me?" you both sat on his couch and he helped you put your legs on him. His fingertips left little flames on your skin.
You take off his necklace and crawl up to him and put it back around his neck.
"Back where it belongs." you twisted a curl from behind his neck around your finger.
"Did you know I used to have my hair really long? Like up to my collarbones?"
"Really?"
"Yeah," he pulled out his phone and showed you a picture. He looked so young. So handsome.
"I think you should grow it back out." you giggled.
"How come?" he settled his arm on your knees as you were still facing him on your knees on his couch.
"I don’t know," you ran your fingers through his hair, "you look handsome either way."
"You think I look handsome?" he looked up at you.
You nodded, scared to speak. You thought maybe you'd say something you might regret. Like how much you wanted to kiss him. Or how you wished Derek smelled like him. Or how you thought of him from time to time. He looked away from you and cleared his throat.
"I guess I should finish this episode."
You nodded and went back to laying down on the other end of the couch. Harry felt confused. You had just gone on a date and come back to him and called him handsome. Did you like him or not? You interrupted his thoughts when you spoke up.
"We kissed," you felt like you had to tell him, yet he felt he could live without that information. "but I didn't feel anything. Like those sparks you're supposed to feel. I don’t know."
Harry stared at the screen and just listened. He didn’t want to hear that you kissed but he did like that you didn't like it.
"But I'm supposed to see him again tomorrow, now that I'm here I kind of don't want to."
Harry sighed and turned off the tv. He pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Y/n, do you feel anything for me? Because I'm honestly fucking confused. You go out on a date with some guy and then come back here, touching me in some ways. Call me handsome. The other night you put your fingers through my belt loop-" he caught what he was saying when you gave him a confused look.
"What?"
"Nothing."
"Tell me"
"The other night, after my gig you were drunk and you pulled me towards you.. You didn't remember so I didn't remind you." He sighed heavily.
"Oh, I'm sorry I did that to you."
"I didn’t mind it"
"What's that supposed to mean"
You both sat up and faced each other. Sharing the middle cushion.
"Harry, do you feel anything for me?"

Tyler’s POV
The sounds of whatever song was playing on the radio carried softly into the bathroom as I stood brushing my teeth. I bopped my head slowly from side to side, barely matching the rhythm of the drums. Sunlight filtered in through the window on the far side of the room, illuminating half of my body. A few shadows danced across my face as I stared at myself in the mirror, scrutinizing my appearance.
The song came to an end, which I took as my cue to spit out my toothpaste and rinse my mouth. In my bedroom, I could just make out the sound of my phone vibrating on the bedside table. I dropped my toothbrush into its holder and leaned closer to the mirror, using one hand to run over my scruff. It was getting long, but not long enough for me to consider taking the time to shave it down. After taking a couple moments to run my hands through my damp hair and fix it to my liking, I headed into my bedroom to see what I had missed.
My phone was lit up with a couple messages from the group chat that I had with Josh and Y/N. I read over them as I walked out to the kitchen to make myself some cereal.
Y/N: good morning, my dudes
Josh: good morning :) you’re up early today
Y/N: casper woke me up early this morning because he wanted to go on a walk. trust me, i wish i was still sleeping :p but at least i have you two to talk to all morning :)
I sighed. Three messages in and the two of them were already starting the flirting for the day. It was something that I had quickly grown used to. I had never really been bothered by their near constant back and forth, although I was bothered by neither of them being bold enough to just admit their feelings for the other. Even if I tried to step in and hint at their mutual feelings, they both brushed it off as me playing around.
That’s why I had come up with my master plan.
Tyler: good morning
After sending my message, I set my phone down on the counter while I made myself a quick bowl of cereal. My hands had been off my phone for a grand total of five seconds before it buzzed again. I looked over at it while I poured my cereal.
Y/N: ty! how’s it going? now that you’re both up, are plans still on for today? it’s day one of our spooky extravaganza!
Josh: i’m down if you two are
I put the cereal away before sending my response.
Tyler: i’m in. i’ll pick you up around noon?
Y/N: are you picking up josh first? :(
Tyler: it makes the most sense, so yes
Y/N: just once i want to be the one who gets picked up first
Josh: maybe you would get picked up first if you didn’t live on the opposite side of town
Y/N: it’s not my fault!
I shook my head as I grabbed a spoon. I had watched this same exact argument unfold hundreds of times before, and it always ended the same way.
Josh: hmm i think it is. there are plenty of houses for sale
Y/N: you think i can afford them? not all of us have money from all our successful albums and tours, joshua
Josh: you were the one who said you wanted to get picked up first!
Tyler: alright, you two, i’ll see you at noon
I set my phone down on the coffee table without waiting for a response and sank into the couch. The remote was already sitting on the cushions, making it easy for me to grab and switch on the TV. My phone vibrating against the coffee table soon become nothing more than background noise.

Josh dug his hands deep into the pockets of his sweatshirt as he walked down the path towards my car. He smiled as he opened the door and slid into the passenger seat, immediately moving his hands in front of my air vents.
“My heater isn’t working properly,” he explained, skipping over a hello. “I’ve been in sweatshirts and sweatpants since last night.”
“Do you have someone coming to fix it?” I asked as I pulled out of the driveway.
“Yeah, there’s some people stopping by to take a look today. I’m hoping they can get it fixed by tonight.”
“If not, you can always come crash at my place. I wouldn’t want you freezing to death.”
“Thanks.”
After a few more minutes of warming up his hands, Josh leaned back in his seat and dropped his hands to his lap. He yawned loudly as he did so.
“Yikes, sorry.”
“Tired?” I laughed.
“Yeah. I was up late talking to Y/N last night.”
“How late?”
“Like, I’m not sure, three in the morning, maybe?”
“Oh geez. Are they ok?”
“Yeah, yeah. They’re fine.”
“Why so late, then?”
“I just really like talking to them. I don’t know what it is.”
“Yeah, you do.”
“Stop.”
I turned and shot Josh a look. His cheeks were dusted pink, but he had been in the car long enough that I knew it wasn’t from the cold outside.
“Come on, man. You’ve already told me how you feel about Y/N, there’s no need to hide it now.”
“It’s not that.” He shook his head. “I’m just… I don’t think it’s going to happen. I can’t keep letting myself get my hopes up like this.”
“Josh, you and I both know there’s something there.”
“Is there?”
“Yes.”
And I was going to make sure that both of them finally realized that.

Your POV
“It’s colder than I thought it was going to be,” you said as you stepped out of the car. The makeshift parking lot was jam packed with cars and families making their way towards the farm. You pulled your sleeves down a little further over your hands.
“This is what my house felt like last night,” Josh said, pulling his beanie a little lower on his head. “It was awful.”
“I told you that you could have come over! But somebody didn’t want to make the drive.”
You just barely noticed the way Tyler turned to Josh with raised eyebrows out of the corner of your eye. A brief desire to ask what that look was all about crossed your mind, but you decided against feeding into it. It was probably better that you didn’t ask.
“It was like one in the morning and you were already in bed! I didn’t want to make you get up.”
“Hey, I am not going to listen to the two of you bickering all day. Let’s go,” Tyler said, tilting his head towards the entrance of the farm.
“Can we get something to drink?” you asked, falling into step with the boys. “It might be nice to have a warm drink to carry around so our fingers don’t freeze.”
“Yes!” Tyler grinned at you. “Let’s get donuts too.”
“Good thinking.”
You held a hand out to Tyler who happily engaged in the high five. Josh smiled at the two of you and shook his head.
“Hey, did I already say you look nice today, Y/N?” Josh added.
You looked down at the jeans and flannel combo you had opted for today. It hadn’t looked particularly special when you were studying yourself in the mirror, but you couldn’t deny the butterflies in your stomach at Josh’s compliment.
“Thanks, Josh,” you smiled. “You look nice too.”
A gust of wind hit right as you finished speaking, prickling at your cheeks. Josh’s face immediately flushed a dusty shade of pink, and you were unable to tell if the color was from your compliment or the cool air. Biting back a sigh, you turned away from Josh and continued to follow Tyler through the crowd towards the building that housed donuts and hot cider.
“Ok, what are we thinking?” Tyler asked. You didn’t immediately register his question at first, you were too busy enjoying the relief from the crisp autumn air outside.
“Powdered sugar,” Josh answered immediately.
You turned to him with furrowed eyebrows, “You would rather have powdered sugar than pumpkin donuts?”
“Just one or two,” he shrugged. “I like powdered donuts.”
“What are you thinking, Ty?”
“I definitely want a pumpkin donut. Or maybe a cinnamon one? I can’t decide.”
“Oh wait, they have a variety bag,” Josh chimed in, stepping closer to you. He rested one hand on your lower back as he used the other to point at the menu. “See it? Three powdered donuts, three pumpkin donuts, and three cinnamon donuts.”
“Would you be willing to trade your pumpkin donut for my powdered sugar one?” you asked.
Josh looked at you, furrowing his eyebrows slightly. “I think I could be convinced.”
“Then I think that sounds good. Ty, you in?”
He nodded, “I’m in.”
You made casual conversation with the boys as you stood in line. Josh continued to stand close to you, not that you were complaining. His close proximity meant it was easier for you to take in his body heat, as well as the faint laundry detergent scent coming from his sweatshirt. The only part you weren’t enjoying so much was Tyler shooting you knowing looks every so often.
With donuts and warm drinks in hand, you found a nice stack of hay bales outside to sit on. They were tall enough that they blocked most of the wind, making the temperature much more bearable. You got comfy on one of them and immediately reached into the bag for your first donut.
“Cheers,” Tyler said, holding out his own donut.
You giggled as you tapped your own treat against his and Josh’s. Josh immediately took a large bite of his donut, covering most of his mouth in powdered sugar. You watched in amusement as he attempted to lick most of it off, but there were some spots he couldn’t quite reach.
“Need help, Josh?” you asked.
“What?”
“With the…” you trailed off, instead gesturing vaguely towards your own mouth.
“There’s more?”
“Just a little,” you laughed.
He sighed and tilted his chin out towards you, “Alright.”
You gently reached out and brushed the excess powdered sugar away with your thumb. Josh’s skin was smooth beneath your fingertips and it was hard to resist the urge to just run your fingers along his bottom lip. He had such nice lips.
“Did you get it all?” he asked.
“Yeah,” you said, snapping yourself out of your daydream. “Try to be a little more careful next time.”
“No promises.”
“What’s the plan after this?” Tyler asked, joining the conversation. “Pumpkins?”
“I think that makes sense. I’d rather not stay here too long since it’s freezing out,” you answered.
“Agreed,” Josh nodded.
“Are we still going to your apartment to carve pumpkins?” Tyler asked.
“Yeah. We can order some pizza and watch horror movies too.”
“Awesome.”
“Hey, do you think I could do a backflip off this hay bale?” Josh asked, completely redirecting the conversation.
You took a second to assess your surroundings, then nodded. “Totally.”
Josh wasted no time in stuffing the rest of his donut into his mouth and climbing up a couple hay bales. After taking a moment to make sure nobody was in his way, he flipped off the hay bale and landed gracefully on the dirt. You bit back a smile at his proud smirk as he adjusted his beanie.
“You think I could do a flip?” you asked.
“Y/N,” Tyler warned.
“Sure, but only if I’m there to spot you,” Josh said.
“Of course. There’s no way I’m flipping on my own.”
“Please be careful,” Tyler said.
“I will be.”
Josh held a hand out to you and helped you up onto the taller hay bale. Flipping seemed a lot scarier now that you were up here.
“Maybe this isn’t a good idea,” you said.
“It’s ok, I’ve got you,” Josh smiled.
“You promise?”
“I promise.”
You listened carefully as Josh told you exactly what to do, although you were struggling to listen while he had one of his hands pressed firmly into your back as he spoke. Once you felt like you knew what you were doing, you gave Josh the ok.
“On my count, ok?”
“Ok.”
“Three, two, one, jump!”
You leaned into Josh’s hand and kicked your legs up over your head. His other arm caught your legs and helped them get all the way over so that you landed firmly on the ground beneath you.
“Woah, wait, I did it,” you grinned, stumbling slightly into Josh after your landing.
“Yeah, you did.” One of his arms was still wrapped around you, holding you close to his side. You were pressed up against him, still reeling from the adrenaline rush of doing a backflip… well, kind of.
“Impressive,” Tyler garbled around the donut in his mouth.
“Hey! Was that my cinnamon donut?” you asked.
Tyler’s eyes went wide as he realized what he had done. You shook your head and unwrapped yourself from Josh to instead go sit next to Tyler again.
“I’m sorry, I wasn’t thinking,” he sighed, swallowing down the last bit.
“It’s ok, Ty, but you do owe me now.”
“I think that’s fair.”
You sat around a while longer until you and Josh finished the last of your donuts. Once they were gone and Tyler took the opportunity to show off his residual basketball skills by tossing the crumpled bag into a trash can, you headed off to the hay ride that would take you to the pumpkin patch.
“How do we do this?” Tyler asked, watching as the tractor slowly grew closer. “Do we hang on to the sides or something?”
“No,” you laughed. “You get inside and sit down on the hay.”
“More hay?” Josh sighed. “My allergies are going to start acting up.”
“You’ll be fine,” you said, giving him a reassuring pat on the shoulder. “It’ll be five minutes at most.”
“If you insist.”
“The most important rule is to not fall off, alright? Because that’s bad news for everyone involved.”
“Don’t fall off,” Tyler nodded. “I think I can manage that.”
The tractor pulled up in front of you and you quickly helped the boys up and onto a hay bale. Other families filled in the space around you. A couple teenagers were giving Tyler and Josh prolonged glances, but you hardly even noticed. You had known the boys long enough to tune things like that out now, although there were still many times where you ended up taking pictures for a fan or two.
“It smells like gas,” Tyler commented, wrinkling his nose up.
“You sure it’s not your hands?” you grinned, bumping him with your elbow.
“Oh, come on,” he laughed. “That was too easy.”
“I’m sorry! I couldn’t resist.”
Tyler shook his head. Next to you, Josh was furiously rubbing his hands - which were now a lot redder than the last time you had seen them - together.
“Put your hands in your pocket!” you said, reaching out to push them closer to his body. “They’re going to freeze.”
“I think it’s a little late for that,” he laughed, but still put them in his pocket nonetheless.
After a few more minutes, the tractor came to a stop at the edge of a field of pumpkins. There were parents all over the place, chasing their toddlers as they happily smacked pumpkins and tried to climb all over them. You were already on the lookout for a perfect pumpkin to fulfill your vision.
“Where should we start?” Tyler asked.
“I don’t know, I’m overwhelmed,” Josh answered.
“Do you guys have an idea of what kind of pumpkin you want?”
“I want a big one,” Josh said. “Like a really big one.”
“I’m just going to see what calls to me,” Tyler said. His hands were also dug deep into his pockets as he looked around. “I don’t really have anything particular in mind.”
“Ok, then let's start wandering around.”
You led the boys through the field, occasionally pausing to survey a pumpkin here or there. Josh took any opportunity he could get to show off his strength by picking up excessively large pumpkins for you to look at. None of them had caught your eye yet, however.
“Wait!” Tyler called out. You stopped walking and turned around, only to realize that he was nearly ten feet behind you.
“Did you find one?” Josh asked.
“I think so.”
You and Josh wandered back to where Tyler was bent over a pumpkin. It was a little oddly shaped with weird bumps here and there, but he seemed completely pleased with it. After taking a moment to brush some dirt off, he scooped the pumpkin into his arms.
“What do you think?”
“I think it’s the perfect pumpkin for you, Ty,” you smiled.
“Agreed.”
Tyler lugged his pumpkin around while you and Josh continued to look at the pumpkins. You eventually found one that you liked: it was nice and round, had a smooth surface, and didn’t seem to be rotting anywhere that you could see. Plus, it wasn’t too heavy which meant you would have no problem getting it back to the car.
“Alright, Josh, it’s all up to you now.”
“Oh geez,” he smiled. “That’s a lot of pressure.”
“It looks like there’s a lot of big pumpkins over there,” Tyler added. “Should we start there?”
“Good idea.”
You and Tyler followed after Josh with your pumpkins in your arms. Tyler’s pace started to slow, and for a moment you thought he was going to stop completely. It wasn’t until Josh was out of earshot and he beckoned you closer that you realized that this was deliberate.
“What?” you asked, eyebrows furrowed.
“What’s going on between you and Josh today?”
Your shoulders dropped in annoyance, “We’re not really doing this, are we?”
“You two are flirting nonstop! Did something happen that you didn’t tell me about?”
“No, nothing happened. Josh is just being friendly.”
“So I suppose that you wiping powdered donut off his lips was just friendly too?”
“Yes!” you whisper-yelled. “I would have done the same thing if you had food all over your face.”
“I can guarantee you that there would not be that much love in your eyes if you were wiping food off of my face.”
“There was no love in my eyes, what in the world are you talking about?”
“You know exactly what I’m talking about.”
“There’s nothing going on. Josh and I are friends and that’s it, alright?”
“Yeah, alright,” he said sarcastically.
“Hey! What are you guys doing all the way over there?” Josh called.
“Sorry, we just needed a rest!” Tyler answered, playing it off like nothing was going on. “It’s hard carrying around pumpkins while you keep aimlessly wandering around.”
“I found a good pumpkin.”
Before you made your way over to Josh, Tyler made sure to get in one last comment.
“I think there’s more there than you’re choosing to see.”
*     *     *
Josh’s POV
I smiled as Tyler sang along to the Halloween music that Y/N had put on as background noise for our pumpkin carving escapades. They were sitting across from me, carefully cutting out the top of their pumpkin so that they could start scooping out all the insides to start carving. That’s what I was currently doing with one hand as I munched on a piece of pizza with the other. Across from me, Tyler, aside from singing, was carefully sketching out his design on the face of his pumpkin.
“Hey! Watch the wood floors,” Y/N warned as some of my pumpkin guts went flying and landed dangerously close to the edge of the trashbags we were sitting on. “And Casper. I don’t want him covered in pumpkin by the end of the night.”
“Sorry,” I mumbled around pizza, glancing at where Casper was curled up next to Y/N. “I’ll be more careful.”
“What design are you doing, Ty?”
“I’m trying to do a skeleton,” he said, holding his pumpkin out for a moment to get a better look at it. “But I’m struggling to get the design right.”
“That’s why you’re a musician and not an artist,” I joked.
“Hey! Who said music isn’t art?”
I held up my hands in defeat and the both of us erupted into laughter, resulting in me nearly dropping my pizza onto the ground. Y/N shot me a look, but they were smiling.
“What about you, Josh?”
“I’m doing an alien, which I’m sure is a shock,” I laughed.
“Oh yeah, I never could have seen that one coming.”
“We have to stay on brand,” Tyler chimed in.
“What design are you doing, Y/N?”
“I was thinking a ghost. You know, spice things up instead of just doing a normal face.”
“I like it,” I nodded.
I admired Y/N as they worked on their pumpkin. They were chewing gently on their bottom lip as they sketched out their ghost design on the front of the pumpkin. My own pumpkin was completely forgotten until Tyler kicked my leg, drawing me back into reality. He held up a pumpkin seed and pretended to throw it at Y/N. My mouth immediately curled into a grin as I grabbed a seed from inside my pumpkin. After taking a moment to line up my shot, I tossed it at Y/N and immediately went back to pretending to clean out my pumpkin.
Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Y/N looking between Tyler and I. It was taking all my energy to not let a smile completely overtake my face. Once they finally gave in and went back to working on their design, Tyler and I shared a look and nearly burst into laughter. Since they were distracted again, I grabbed another pumpkin seed and threw it at them. Unfortunately for me, they were ready this time and looked up before I had a chance to go back to looking innocent.
“Josh,” Y/N said, drawing out the vowel. “You’re not throwing pumpkin seeds at me, are you?”
“Of course not,” I said, but the smile that I was trying to hide was completely evident on my face.
“Liar!” they laughed, grabbing their own handful of pumpkin seeds and starting to toss them at me. I quickly reached into the bag of discarded pumpkin insides and started to throw them back at Y/N. A couple of them missed and skidded along the hardwood floors and under the couch. “You’re going to have to help me clean those up!”
“You started this!” I said as I threw another seed at them.
“Did not!”
We continued to throw pumpkin seeds all over the place until I finally ran out. Casper was running around, attempting to catch the pumpkin seeds in his mouth. More than once, he nearly crashed into Y/N, throwing them off their rhythm. Tyler mostly ignored the entire thing and continued to work on his own pumpkin, enjoying the peace of not having small objects hitting him in the face every few seconds, despite the fact that this war had been his idea in the first place.
“Are you two done?” he asked once the seeds finally stopped flying.
“For now,” Y/N said, shooting me a look.
“I’ll call a truce if you do.”
“Deal.”
I held out a gross pumpkin-goop covered hand. Y/N studied my hand for a moment before giving in and shaking it anyway.
“Good. Now no more pumpkin projectiles,” Tyler laughed.
“Pumpkin projectiles,” I repeated with a snort.
Things went back to being peaceful for awhile. The three of us were working away on our pumpkins and talking about potential snacks Tyler could make for the party that he was hosting tomorrow. My pumpkin design was going well, or at least, well enough that you could tell it was an alien. As for my artistic ability, that was an entirely different story.
Deciding that it had been long enough since the last time I messed with Y/N, I started to hatch a plan to bother them yet again. They had been pretty consistently skipping over songs, which involved them turning their back to me for a couple seconds while they waited for one they liked enough to let play. This was also the perfect opportunity for me to take the tool they just so happened to be using to make their ghost design.
“Don’t like this song,” Y/N huffed, setting down their tool and yet again turning their back to Tyler and I. While they were distracted, I scooped up the little scraper and tucked it beneath my leg where they wouldn’t be able to find it. Tyler took notice of this and immediately began to smile.
I watched as Y/N turned back around and reached for their tool, only to find the spot where they had left it empty. They began to look around, even going so far as to lift up their pumpkin to see if it had somehow slipped under there. Tyler and I were barely containing our laughter, which Y/N eventually took notice of.
“Alright, which one of you has it?” they asked, crossing their arms.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Tyler said.
“Oh, come on,” they huffed. “I know I’m a bit absent-minded at times but there’s no way I misplaced an entire pumpkin tool.”
“What does it look like?” I asked, pretending to be concerned.
“It’s a little, like, orange tool. This big,” they said, holding their fingers up for reference. “Wait, hold on a second. I’m still not entirely convinced that you didn’t take it.”
“Does it look like this?” I asked, grabbing it from beneath my leg.
“Yes, thank you,” they said, reaching for it. I wasn’t ready to give in so easily, so I pulled my arm back and out of Y/N’s reach. They frowned and scooted closer to me, reaching their arm as far as it would go. “Josh! Give it here,” they laughed.
“No way.”
“Josh! Come on.”
They moved forward, grabbing onto my bicep and trying to pull it towards them. I resisted, but not so much that I would accidentally punch something if they decided to let go all of a sudden.
“I thought we had a truce,” they laughed as they tugged on my arm.
“We had a truce for… what was it? Pumpkin projectiles?”
“That was it,” Tyler chimed in.
“You two are the worst.”
I tried to move the arm that was supporting my body a little further back, but I miscalculated how much weight was on it and ended up falling straight back onto the hardwood. This caused Y/N to tumble right on top of me, leaving our noses only a few inches apart. I didn’t have to look in a mirror to know that my face was the brightest red that it had been all day.
“I’ll be taking that, thank you,” Y/N grinned, taking the tool out of my grip that had now loosened significantly.
I was still in a daze when Y/N fully climbed off of me and went back to sitting behind their own pumpkin. Tyler was looking at me with raised eyebrows, but I was avoiding his gaze. There were already enough butterflies in my stomach as it was and I didn’t need Tyler’s taunting look to make them even worse.
“Are you two almost done with your pumpkins?” Y/N asked as if nothing had happened. “I want to start the movie soon.”
“What movie are we watching?” Tyler asked.
“I was thinking The Conjuring. One of the best horror movies there is. Is that ok with you two?”
“Fine with me.”
“Yeah,” I said, swallowing hard. “Me too.”
*     *     *
“Do you have any other blankets?” I asked, noticing there were only two sitting on the couch.
“No, those are all I’ve got. We can share, if that’s ok with you?” Y/N asked, raising their eyebrows.
“Yeah, that’s ok. I’d rather not be alone under a blanket by myself while watching a horror movie, anyway.”
“Agreed,” Y/N smiled. “And there’s no way that Tyler is going to want to share a blanket with anyone.”
“Definitely not.”
I grabbed the larger of the two blankets and got settled on one end of the couch. Y/N always liked to sit between Tyler and I, especially when watching scary movies. They always joked around, saying that they felt safe with two celebrities on either side of them.
“Coming?” I asked, holding the blanket up for them to get comfortable.
The microwave went off in the other room, drawing their attention away. “Let me grab that, then I’ll come get comfortable.”
“Sounds good.”
I stared at some of the posters that Y/N had on their walls while I waited for them to return with snacks. Most of them were for movies that they particularly liked or bands that they had gone to see, although Tyler and I didn’t have the honor of being hung in the living room. Y/N always said that it was too cheesy to have their best friends on the wall, especially when they had guests over.
My looking around was interrupted by Casper joining me on the couch and plopping himself down right next to me. He looked at me for a moment before resting his head on my thigh and blinking up on me. Unable to resist his puppy dog eyes, I happily scratched at his fluffy ears.
“Ok, snacks are here!” Y/N grinned, returning with a bowl of popcorn and a bag of candy.
“Smells delicious,” I smiled.
“Thanks, I made it in the microwave,” they giggled. “Casper, down.”
I once again held the blanket out so that they could crawl under it once Casper was out of the way. They sat down next to me, leaving a small gap between us. I tried my best to mask my disappointment, but then decided that for once I wanted to make a bit of a move.
“You know, if you get a little closer to me then we can wrap the blanket around us a little tighter. It would be warmer.”
Y/N looked at me for a moment before they began to smile. “Good idea.”
They scooted closer so that our legs were now pressed together, sending tingles all the way up to my scalp. Tyler would undoubtedly have some comment about this situation, but I couldn’t bring myself to care. Y/N was cuddled up next to me and that was more than enough to combat anything he had to say.
“Tyler!” Y/N called. “Are you almost done?”
“Yeah, I’m coming! I was just trying to get the bleeding to stop.”
“I should have gone in there and helped him,” Y/N sighed. “If he wasn’t capable of carving a pumpkin without injury, I should have known he wouldn’t be able to bandage it, either.”
Tyler appeared from the bathroom a few minutes later, now sporting a spooky bandage on his finger. He let his gaze linger on the two of us cuddled up under the blanket, but didn’t immediately make a comment. He just grabbed his own blanket and got comfortable on the other side of Y/N.
“Only two blankets, huh?” he smiled.
“I don’t have that many blankets here, Ty. I live alone.”
“I just asked a question!”
Y/N rolled their eyes and grabbed the remote from where it was sitting on the coffee table. The movie hadn’t even started and I could already feel my heart starting to beat a little harder in my chest, although that could have just been because Y/N was pressed up next to me.
“Ready?” they asked, hovering over the “Play Movie” button.
“Ready,” I nodded.
“Ready.”
Thirty minutes of the movie had passed and it was going surprisingly well. There hadn’t been anything too scary, and I was beginning to wonder if it was really going to live up to all the hype that Y/N had given it. Tyler had even fallen asleep on the opposite end of the couch and was now snoring lightly. Next to me, Y/N was watching the screen intently.
I was about to make a comment about the movie not being scary when the music ramped up and the first of what would eventually be many scary scenes played out on the screen. Without realizing it, my hand flew out and grabbed onto Y/N’s arm, gripping it tightly.
“Ow, Josh,” they laughed softly. “My arm.”
“I’m sorry,” I said, immediately loosening my grip. “I just wasn’t expecting that to happen.”
“That’s kind of the point.”
I let out a long breath of air. Maybe watching a scary movie hadn’t been such a good idea. Y/N must have noticed my distress, because they reached out and put a hand on my arm.
“Hey, it’s going to be ok. I’m right here.”
They slowly moved their hand along my arm until their fingers were laced with mine. All of the fear seemed to instantly melt away as I held their hand in my own. When I gave Y/N’s hand a light squeeze as thanks, I was met with one in return.
Maybe Tyler was onto something.
