Ticking Time Prologue- Rewind

Water fell, Livias eyes widening at how soaked her clothes were. Raylo and Fango laughed, pointing at her. "STUPID!!"Rayla laughs grinning at her.

Jeremiah stares Livia down with a blank expression, listening to his siblings laugh at the princess.

"You look stupid"Jeremiah comments coldly.

Livia sighed and chuckled, smiling at them all. "This was a great prank guys!"Livia beamed. Sebek stepped forward and handed her a towel, nodding to her.

"It's time for bed"Livia says standing up as she dried her hair. She walked away, Sebek beside her.

"Sebek, can you bring me that package you said came in?"Livia asks looking back at him.

Sebek bowed his head in response and left her side to retrieve the said item.

Livia made her way to her room and opened her door, letting it shut behind her. She immediately fell to her knees, her eyes wide as tears started to fall. "It's only until Jeremiah is nineteen..."Livia mumbles regaining her composure. She sighed and wiped her tears away, forcing herself to her feet.

The four kids had been sent to her by their aunt after the will said that she was to take care of the kids until Jeremiah was nineteen years old and then they could return home and have nothing to do with her anymore.

The kids had immediately started picking on her when they arrived here with Jeremiah watching with an expressionless look each time.

He'd join in depending on which kind of prank would be pulled on her. He had even locked her in a cold room one time and she nearly froze to death were it not for her using her thorns to break out.

She narrowed her eyes, a determined look back on her face, "Just gotta wait...I can handle them, I've been through worse!"

She changed into her nightgown, her hair up in a ponytail. Sebek entered her room with the package, passing it to her.

She nodded, dismissing the green haired boy. She waited for him to leave then opened the package, finding a bracelet inside. Her eyes widened, recognizing it as the one Jeremiah's mother had worn. Shock filled her, wondering how somebody could get their hands on it. "This is supposed to be in the manor-"Livia starts.

"Why do you have that."

Livia looked up, finding a shocked Jeremiah standing there his eyes on the bracelet.

"Jeremiah, it was sent to me, there's no note"Livia says standing up to hand the bracelet back to him.

He snatched the bracelet and slapped her hands, startling her. "YOU'RE A THIEF, YOU STOLE HER BRACELET!!"Jeremiah snapped glaring at her.

He shoved her backwards, sending her tripping over the package the bracelet had came in.

A shriek of pain filled the air, Livia sitting on her knees, touching her forehead that had a trail of blood coming from her temples. Her eyes stayed on the ground, a stunned look on her face.

"Princess!?" Raviola rushed in with the other servants behind her, yells of alarm coming from and few of them, immediately fussing over the girl.

Jeremiah stared with wide eyes then turned and left the room, gripping the bracelet tight in his hand. Livia bowed her head, letting out a small sigh as she used a healing spell on herself.

"Zander, Raviola, can you prepare a carriage for me?"Livia asks looking up. Both stared at her but gave her a small nod. "Isabella, help me get dressed"Livia orders getting to her feet.

"LIVIA WOULDN'T STEAL ANYTHING!" Rayla glared at Jeremiah, Raylo nodding firmly behind her.

"You can make us bully her because YOU dislike her but accusing her of stealing is too far!"Fango agreed backing the twins up, his arms crossed.

"Then why'd she have our mother's bracelet!? Only a selfish thief would-"Jeremiah started. Rayla slapped his arm, glaring at him. He looked at her in shock, his eyes wide since she's never hit him before no matter how upset she was. "Don't you think maybe someone framed her!? You getting angry is probably what they want, you dolt!"Rayla scolds glaring at him.

Rayla perked up then beamed at everyone. "Maybe this is our chance to switch things around! We bake her a cake and apologize about this!"Rayla beamed Raylo and Fango beaming at her.

Jeremiah stared in disbelief that his siblings were trying to open up to a complete stranger.

Sure, she took care of them but they were still people she no doubt didn't want around her. That's why he didn't want any of them getting close to her. He didn't want to burden her anymore than she already had to deal with.

They were right, she didn't seem like the type to steal. She took care of them well too and besides, she could just take their fortune due to being the Crowned Princess.

As much as he wanted to apologize, he didn't want to face her again and see what kind of expression she'd make just seeing him.

He didn't want to- no, he couldn't stand to see it.

"No."

The trio looked at them, their eyes wide in disbelief. "What..."Fango mumbles stunned. Rayla and Raylo stared at him, their arms hanging at their sides. "Nobody is making cake and nobody is apologizing"Jeremiah says firmly, his eyes narrowed.

"Tomorrow is Rayla and Raylo's 9th birthday, so we're going to be focusing on that all day until it ends." He turned away, walking over to his bed.

"Now everyone go to sleep!"

Fango scowled and stormed over to his bed, throwing himself down onto it and snatching the blanket over his head. "STUPID JERK!!"

Rayla and Raylo went to their shared bed, grim looks on their faces as they climbed in and laid down.

Jeremiah stared at his siblings, his gaze slowly turning to look down at the bracelet in his palm. He really did overreact about his Mother's bracelet, especially towards the one person who seems to be showing genuine care towards them all.

He sighed and laid down, deciding to deal with it when the time came for it. He reached over and set the bracelet down on the nightstand, using a quick spell to turn the lights out

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY LADY RAYLA! SIR RAYLO!"

Rayla beamed and laughed, confetti surrounding her. She smiled at everyone, wearing the dress Livia had gifted her a couple of days ago to wear for this day. "Thank you everyone!!"Rayla beamed her eyes sparkling excitedly. Raylo smiled beside her, looking a bit embarrassed.

"Where's Livia"Rayla asks scanning the crowd. She peeked around some of the guests, turning her head when a hand tapped her shoulder.

"She'll be back, she went out to investigate something"Zander responded, smiling down at her.

Commotion came from outside the front doors, the sound of running feet coming towards the room. Sebek bursted in, his eyes wide. "The princess!"Sebek calls Malleus sitting up looking widely alert.

"What..."Malleus demands, Aura looking at him then back towards Sebek. Rayla ran over to Sebek, her eyes wide. "What happened to her!? Is she okay, can we see her"Rayla asks gripping Sebek's sleeves.

Rayla's hands dropped, trembling at her sides. She fell to her knees, Raylo stepping forward.

"SHE'S DEAD!!!!!!!"

Jeremiah's eyes widened in shock, feeling his heart nearly come to a stop at his sisters scream.

Rayla rubbed her eyes, sobbing coming from her. She froze then shot up, making a beeline for him.

"THIS IS YOUR FAULT!!!"

Fango grabbed Rayla, hauling her away, tears falling down his cheeks. Raylo hurried over, his eyes wide as Rayla screamed curses and insults at the eldest.

"YOU MADE US HATE HER!!!!!! YOU'RE A JERK, I HATE YOU, I WISH YOU DIED INSTEAD!!!"Rayla screamed struggling against Fango, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"SHE DIDN'T DESERVE THIS FATE!!!!"

Fango trembled, hugging Rayla tight as she sobbed against him. "It's okay....it's okay, Rayla..."Fango mumbles Raylo looking close to breaking down next.

Jeremiah walked past them, following Malleus to inspect the damage. "You stay here." He looked up, finding Malleus staring down at him coldly.

"Croci, Daze, Lilana, Lukis and Bommi are gonna have to be put under the care of Leona Kingscholar now..."Aura reminds, getting Malleus' attention. Malleus nodded and walked away, leaving Jeremiah alone in the hallway.

Jeremiah turned, letting his feet carry him down the hallway. His fists trembled as he went from a walk to a jog to a full sprint down the hall, hurrying towards Livias room. "This is my fault...it's all my fault!"Jeremiah mumbles.

His hand grabbed the doorknob of Livias room, bursting inside. "Father gave me this, it only has a two time use." He pulled out a pocket watch, staring at it then dropped down to his knees, clasping his hands around it.

"Give me a second chance, PLEASE!!! Let me fix this! ...let me save her."

Quickened clicking came from the pocket watch then came to a stop, his gaze lifting and scanning the room finding everything the same.

His eyes widened in disbelief, bowing his head. The door opened, heels clicking against the ground. "Jeremiah?" His gaze shot up, staring at Livia.

The girl stepped closer, scanning her bed cautiously. "You didn't put candy in my bed again did you?"Livia asks.

His hands shot out, grabbing her dress as he sobbed, clinging to her. "It worked!! IT WORKED!! IT WORKED!!!!" Livia stared at him with wide eyes stunned, gently and carefully kneeling down to his level.

"A-Are you alright?"Livia asks stunned to see him like this. "I-It worked...."Jeremiah mumbles tightening his grip on the cloth of her outfit.

Silence passed for a second then Livia patted his back. "Did you have a nightmare?" A nod came in response from him, resting his head in her lap as tears fell.

"The worst kind"Jeremiah mutters closing his eyes, letting her pat his head to calm him.

She was alive, now all he had to do was figure out three things.

Why was the bracelet sent to her?

Who killed her and why?

Lastly, how much time did he have before her death day?

Jeremiah opened his eyes, narrowing them, swearing that this time would be different.

He was going to change how things were and make sure his guardian lived.

Twst oc Mathilde “Mattie” Darrow

Character info

Mathilde has stubbornness and fire flowing through her veins. As the dorm head of Befated, she takes great pride in it. Many of her classmates gossip and say she would be better at NRC but she thinks otherwise. Wanting her freedom to do what she wants, she takes every opportunity she can to be outside or even just around nature. She loves playing spelldrive and uses it as a way to let out any pent up stress or energy, which she has a lot of at RSA. 

  She grew up around myths and legends and folk tales. She was taught to not believe them as reality, yet, Mattie took them as lessons that you can learn from. Like the old story of the princess who accidentally turned her mom into a bear yet ended up saving her and their bond. She lives a humble life with her family in the Shaftlands. Although they don’t always see eye to eye, her family DOES always end the day around the fireplace surrounded by laughter. 

Fun facts: She almost joined the archery club but when she saw the Spelldrive team practicing she decided right then and there that she wanted to do it too. When she was younger she was self conscious about her looks because of other kids poking fun at her for it, now that she’s older she’s quite confident in herself. Uses her magic to summon the string and arrows for her bow. Is a Eurasian brown bear beastfolk. She remembers meeting an old lady who lived in a cottage and this lady addressed her as “princess”, she especially remembers all of the bear carvings she was selling and the odd talking crow.

Unique Magic: Wisps Call, growing up around myths and legends gave her a knack for finding lone spirits and attract wisps to her. In dire need of guidance these wisps will lead the way. 

Character dynamics (listen there’s only like 2 RSA students that we know the personalities of)

Neige: They don’t interact very often but they are in the same grade so sometimes, very rarely, they’ll be paired up for school assignments. He has a a bit of complimenting her and first she scoffed until she realized that it’s just how Neige is. 

Chen’ya: Even with her enhanced senses, Mattie can’t predict where Chen’ya is going to be. He’s a drifter and so they run into each other at random times but, she thinks he’s funny and will go with him sometimes to visit NRC. 

Richie: They first met when she was trying out for the spelldrive team. He challenged her to a 1 v 1 match and if she won, she could join the team. After she joined the team they gained a friendly rivalry, on and off the field. Mattie also has the habit of throwing him over her shoulder and walking away if he’s about to or has made a fool of himself. 

Mina: They met when there was a spelldrive tournament between NRC and RSA. Mathilde was immediately drawn to Mina as she stood out so much compared to the other NRC students. Her kindness was welcomed by Mattie’s enthusiasm and friendliness, she’s also the main reason why Mattie visits NRC. 

Bruna: Vice dorm head of Befated. Rats.
