Construction Loan Finale! I know that doesn’t really work as a title, but I needed something to sound dramatic in order to match the level of relief closing our construction loan brings. This loan was supposed to be converted to a traditional mortgage in June 2020... We have been doing everything we possibly can to make that happen since we opened the loan in July 2019. In December 2020 we had everything in and approved to convert to a mortgage, then everything under the snow-filtered-sun prevented it from happening week after week. I’m pretty sure our bank contact got tired of my weekly check-ins to see if there was anything more we could do in order to push the close of the construction loan through. She was very kind and patient with me despite my high anxiety and obnoxiousness. Yesterday (Friday when everyone else was starting their sunny weekend) our bank person stayed late to help us through the final close and traditional mortgage opening. We feel like Frodo on Mt. Doom, without a finger and covered in his own filth, “It is done.” We still have projects to get done at the house, but it will be less stressful for us (although I admit that I shed some of my long-held stress over this situation in early fall when it struck me that this may be my constant reality and I can’t keep holding onto everything inside and still function as a human). I know it’s still a bit messy and not totally completed (major reason why a bunch of tools and parts for finishing are all around and the island is stacked high with projects in progress, but I was so excited about things at least looking livable and seeing our ideas taking up space in such a satisfying way. It may not be everyone’s style, but I love the vintage colors we have used and how they compliment each other. I love the beams and the dark floor and light trim. Our cabinets aren’t stained yet, but I’m getting there. To me this home is perfect—we can all be together and share our interests and talents in our cozy spaces. It’s not completely set yet, but the bathroom vanity is in the bathroom at least. This thing is a beautiful beast! It weighs demasiado I like bright colors, and I really try to not overdo them by reigning in the brightness to pops and highlights, but it’s hard sometimes to not go nuts and put all the happy bright things everywhere. Today I made it to the last half of oldest’s BBall game. I was late because of car juggling and plumbing needs (trips to Ace in the many when plumbing) Our stand alone tub is fully functioning! And I love it so much! (Not that I’ve used it yet.
