This is for the injury/recovery prompt but it does also fit 80s because the clothing style I just think it fit today’s prompt a little more

Jean didn't notice the glittering stars up above, or the cool breeze that whispered around them; all he could focus on was the thundering of his heart against his ribs looking at Armin.

HAPPY BEGINNING OF JEARMIN WEEK, EVERYONE! LET’S START IT OFF RIGHT!

Prompt: Library - day 1  Word count - 743 bc i couldn’t think of anything else to do wHOOPS. 

“Armin? Hey, Armin, focus!” 

Armin blinked, the scene around him coming back into view, as well as Jean’s fingers right in front of his nose. “What?” He asked dazedly. 

“I completely lost you for a minute there, man. Everything alright?” Jean asked, a tinge of actual concern in his voice. 

Armin nodded, tucking his hair behind his ears and trying to force himself back into the moment. “What were we doing?” He asked. 

Jean sat back in his seat, a little bit of a pout on his face at Armin forgetting so quickly, and dropped is hands. “I was trying to teach you some French, but obviously you’re not at all interested in learning about my heritage.” 

“I am.” Armin promised, leaning his elbows on the table, his cheeks pink. “I am, I promise, I’m just kinda tired, I guess.” He shrugged, his eyes wandering away from Jean and glancing around at all of the other people in the library on their computers, or reading books, or sitting down in the cafe with a cup of coffee. 

“Didn’t you sleep last night?” Jean asked, running a hand back through his hair. 

“Yeah.” 

“Then what’s going on?” 

Armin just shrugged, letting his eyes close for just a minute, and let his shoulders relax a bit. “I think I just need a nap or something.” 

“Well,” Jean started, scooting Armin’s tablet closer to him. “You can rest later. We have work to do right now.” When Armin sighed, he reached over, flicking him playfully on his nose, and shook his head. “You’re the one who loves to study! You asked me here, remember?” 

“I know,” Armin replied, rubbing his nose. “I just didn’t think you’d actually show up.”

“Hey!” Jean yelled, the pout coming back even worse. “You know I’m more reliable than that!” 

“Shh!” Armin hushed, chuckling at him a little bit. “We’re in a library, remember? You’ll get us thrown out.” 

Jean stuck his tongue out at Armin and folded his arms, his bottom lip jutting out for added effect. “Can’t believe you thought I wouldn’t show up.” 

Armin snorted, unable to help himself, and clamped his hand over his mouth, his cheeks even pinker. He hated when he snorted, and even more when Jean heard it. 

Jean’s eyes widened a bit when he heard it, and a grin of his own crossed his lips. He loved seeing Armin so flustered; it was cute on him. “God, you’re such a nerd.” He chuckled affectionately.

“Isn’t that a stereotype?” Armin asked, quirking an eyebrow. “That’s kind of rude, you know.”

“I - I was just joking, you know that! I don’t think you’re a nerd. I mean, you are, but not… you know.” Now it was Jean’s turn to blush, and he nervously itched at his own nose, his eyes turned away from Armin. “You’re… a cute nerd. Not a nerd nerd.”

“A cute nerd?” Armin asked, sitting up a little. “What about me makes me a ‘cute’ nerd?” 

Jean’s face went from pink to scarlet when Armin asked that, his wide, hazel eyes standing out against the color of his skin. “I don’t know, you just -” Jean cut himself off, the tips of his ears warm, and gestured to Armin himself. “You’re Armin. That’s all I’ve got. You’re Armin, and you’re cute and that’s… just how it is.” 

Armin fixed his glasses, just to have something to do, and smiled up at Jean. Jean thought he was cute? What kind of cute? Was he just cute like Historia, or did Jean think he was attractively cute? Judging by the look on his face, Armin guessed the latter. “Does it help that I think you’re cute, too?” 

“You think I’m cute?” Jean asked, lowering his hand. 

Armin just nodded, his hair slipping into his face again. “Yeah.” 

The two boys stared at each other across the table for a moment, faces matching in color, hearts pounding in their chests, and minds racing with possibilities on what all of this could mean. 

“Hey we-” 

“We should-” 

“Sorry.” 

“Sorry.” 

“What were you saying?” Jean asked, rubbing at his neck again. 

“I was just gonna ask if you wanted me to buy you a coffee?” Armin shrugged, his eyes flickering down to the library cafe. 

“Uh… you mean like, a date?” 

“Why not?” Armin grinned, getting to his feet. “Come on, we can come back up here and study more when we’re done.” 

“Okay. It’s - It’s a date!”

Laying on Jean’s chest and staring at the ocean was one of Armin’s favorite things. “It’s not too warm tonight, huh?” Turning his head to properly look him in the eyes, “For once, no it’s not. It’s really perfect honestly. I’m sad it’s the last day of break.” They had spent almost all of summer break on this beach with each other. It was almost like they were the only two around, and that’s honestly all Armin wanted. “Do you think we should have done something else? Was there anything else you wanted to do?” “Maybe we can go see that movie Mikasa was talking about before we have to leave. It seemed pretty good from the way she was talking about it.” Armin sat up, arched his back, and tilted his head back basking in the sun and warm air. “We can do that. I already told you I’ll do whatever you wanted.” Jean looked up at his boyfriend and admired how beautiful he looked at this angle, in this light, he looked like an art piece. Standing up and stretching his legs out since he and Jean had been laying in the sand for what felt like hours. Walking toward the shoreline and letting the small waves come up to his feet felt like nothing Armin would ever be able to describe. He held his hand out, a gesture Jean knew very well. Jean followed and repeated the smaller boys lead and took his hand, “I don’t wanna go.” “We can come back during our next break. Not to mention being back home won’t be so bad, it’s our last year, then we can finally get that apartment.” Armin and Jean had been saving for a specific apartment in the city since they started college. It had a beautiful view and animal friendly, so they could finally adopt a cat together. “We should move here, I know that’s further out of our goals, but you’re happy here I want you to stay that way.” Jean wanted to make sure he did everything in his power to keep Armin smiling like he had been these last few months. Armin threw his arms around Jean’s waist and laughed, “You really think it’s a place that makes me happy? Of all the places we’ve been what’s been the common factor, Jean?” Jean had to think for a minute. “Uh, the ocean?” Armin laughed even harder almost falling completely into the water. “You. It’s always you, Jean. As long you’re with me what do I care about the place? If you don’t keep people that make you happy with you in a place what does it matter? What’s the point?” “I thought the ocean made you happy?” “Well, yeah, but you make me happier. You’re my favorite person. I love you.” Armin smiled up at Jean. Jean blushed, “I love you too, you know that.” He chuckled and rubbed a hand on the back of his neck, “You’re really something you know that?” There he was again looking like a million dollar piece of art. Armin had that ability always looking perfect in any kind of light and scenario. Summer may be over, but their adventures together was far from it.
