“I’d hardly merit the title of rake,” he continued, watching her gaze move up his body, “if I couldn’t make my lover want more. If I couldn’t make her want me.”
“I admit astonishment that it should matter to you at all what my experience is,” she said uncertainly.
“My pleasure lies in giving you pleasure.” He placed his hands on his knees and leaned forward. “Let me bestow it upon you.”

Hello??? Do you have a list for these you-should-at-least-read-them-for-sex-scenes books?? I'll gladly take the list if you have it!
Lol, I was gonna make a list called like, "Sex Scenes You Should Read the Book For" but this is probably easier.
Priest by Sierra Simone: For all your priest kink needs, with a side of true callouts of the Catholic Church and religious complexity (TW: discussions of sexual abuse in the Church, did not happen to the leads). He's a priest, he's a dom daddy. Special callout for the altar scene in which he's very literally treating sex like Communion.
Heated Rivalry & The Long Game by Rachel Reid. A duet, the ultimate m/m hockey romance... I think that because this duet is so well known for how soft the romance is, people gloss over the fact that a lot of the page time is like... sex. They read like a real couple, the books cover like a decade, so like. Yeah. They bone down a lot. Best scene is the trophy room in TLG, imo, because it has that like *feeling* of two people who know each other verrrrrry well having sex, and also like "sex as a pick me up" because Shane feels like shit and Ilya is like. Hyping him up during, lmao. Ilya is vERY good dominant partner, and it's something I think the book does well in general--portraying how soft d/s dynamics can be a part of many sex lives.
Mila Finelli's Kings of Italy series, of course. Will never miss a chance to recommend this series.
Mafia Mistress and Mafia Darling (duet): for the age gap (18 and 38), for when you want big dom daddy/little girl vibes, a bit of defiance that somewhat quickly gives way to a very fond, doting relationship. Standout scenes include the entire "Roman fuckpad" sequence, which I think is also when they do anal for the first time? And I've gotta be real, a lot of het anal sex scenes in romance don't work for me because it's just... not written well. But THIIIIIIIS SCENE. Is. Good. Also, the scene where he's literally eating her out and she calls him daddy for the first time and he pauses to be like "WHATDIDYOUJUSTSAY"
Mafia Madman. Theeeeee hottest book I've ever read. Like. I'll just say it. There may be books with more sex scenes (I mean probably not that many more because these two are FUCKING); there may be books with more explicit sex (bitch I guess); but to meee the combination of romance+sex+chemistry+specific kinks... there's nothing hotter that I've read. Think super enemies to lovers, heavy dom/sub, heavy praise kink, roooough sex with some CNC. Sex with restraints, sex with choking, she has a VCH piercing and he's all the fuck about it. And they hate each other through the first 20 orgasms or so. I mean I'm an absolute bitch for this book so the like, Raw Emotional Sex where they make eye contact and she's all "make me your good girl" is my faaaaavorite but there is. Not a single miss in this novel. This is a book about the two sluttiest people in the series (thus far) finding love in the midst of loathing and it's a drug 2 me.
Mafia Target. M/M assassin romance that has a blow job 5% of the way in (as noted by Goodreads people bitching about how it began "too quickly"). Probably the most traditionally romantic and swoony book in the series thus far, but still. A lot of extremely good sex. Giulio and Alessio probably have the least kinky sex in the series? But they do fuck in a public park with some weird dude watching in the "scopami forte il grosso toro" scene so. That ain't saying much.
Of course, Joanna Shupe also has some great sex scenes in her historicals. The Lockwood/Nellie scene with the tit biting in The Duke Gets Even. The performance masturbation in The Bride Goes Rogue. The "partition but it's a carriage" blow job scene in The Devil of Downtown.
Eva Leigh writes a reeeeeally good mfm novella in Two Rakes for Mrs. Sparkwell. I think there's an Eiffel scene in that which I adore. I also love her upcoming A Rogue's Rules for Seduction. I can't say much about which scene absolutely hits (they all do) but uh. RIP Dom's knees.
Elizabeth Hoyt wrote such gooood historical sex scenes, especially in her Maiden Lane books. Shoutout to the classic Emotional BJ in Thief of Shadows, but I reread that book recently and there's a scene where Winter literally fucks this woman on a table and proposes marriage while still inside her? Fab.
Of course, Maximus Batten putting Artemis on a chair so he can sit on the floor and eat her the fuck out in Duke of Midnight will always slam.
Everyone should read The Hawk by Monica McCarty just for that scene where they fuck on a raft in the middle of a storm.
Grace Callaway writes great sex in general, but if I had to pick one I'd call out the scene where the hero fingers the heroine to orgasm, legs full spread, pussy out in the breeze, in front of a group of people who all start going at it because it's too much.
The Queer Principles of Kit Webb is a must read because of the trading blow jobs scene where Percy is like, rolling his eyes because he wants Kit to face fuck him and Kit is like "YOUR FACE! YOUR DELICATE FACE!"
The wall sex scene in Unmasked by the Marquess by Cat Sebastian is subliiiime. Especially because there are people! On the other side of the wall!
I mean, every IAD book has some batshit fuck scene but listen. Lothaire by Kresley Cole. The blood blowjob. Which is actually a blood 69. One of the most unhinged scenes... Every time I read it I'm like, swept away and absorbed because like. The literally supernatural horniness of it all. The fact that Ellie is both.... wanting to fuck him and wanting to eat him... and he's about it.... Just *chef's kiss*. Every sex scene in that book is off the shits tho
The ass eating scene in Something Fabulous by Alexis Hall, which is both hot and hilarious because Person A keeps calling Person B's asshole a "hungry flower" and Person B is like please God stop. Soon to be followed by Something Spectacular on April 11, which has one of the most! Stunning! Sex scenes I've read in a historical since I don't know when.
Ruby Dixon's Aspects and Anchors series is soooo good, and the sex scenes are soooo bomb. There's a scene in the first one (Bound to the Battle God) where he eats her out while she's eating a really juicy piece of fruit and the juice is running down her neck while... her juices... are also running. Sworn to the Shadow God has the rare "she's on her period and is all 'no I'm on my period' and he does not give a FLYYYYYING FUUUUUCK" scenes. Wed to the Wild God has SUPERNATURAL PEGGING.
Obviously, Ice Planet Barbarians. Shoutout to Barbarian's Mate, which involves a scene where the hero is making a like, six hour trek through the snow while carrying the heroine, but they are so fucking horny that he just has to periodically stop and fuck her. And so they end up just walking with her facing him, legs around his waist, so he can just periodically penetrate her. As needed.
Lush Money by Angelina M. Lopez, because my god. The scene in the car. When the paparazzi get pics of the hero face down head between her legs going to town on her. Amazing.
Preferential Treatment by Heather Guerre; I think my favorite sex scene is when she's sitting in his lap, faced away from him, on his cock, while they play chess against each other. He has to not come.
Lead by Kylie Scott for the "let's get it out of our system" fuck on the kitchen table. Which begins with him sitting down to eat. Also, Deep by Kylie Scott has some wooooonderful pregnancy sex scenes after the heroine gets accidentally knocked up, because as a friend who is responsible for her getting pregnant, he has to help her take the edge off right??? What kind of friend would he be if he left her to get herself off???
Every sex scene in Run, Run Rabbit by C.M. Nascosta but especially the "come inside her then make the beta male werewolves clean her up with their tongues" scene.
Anyway, these are not ALL but they are A FEW.
#romance novel blogging#book recs#w more to come eventually as i start cracking the seal on some of the more..... deranged... books i know of#nikki sloane here i come

Happy release day to this scorching hot anthology!
If you are looking for your next hot book, this is it, you found it, Rake I'd like to f is an anthology with five high heat historical novellas featuring rakes by the talented authors Sierra Simone, Eva Leigh, Nicola Davidson, Adriana Herrera and Joanna Shupe.
If you've been following these authors you would remember that last year around this time, they published an anthology with a similar format called Duke I'd Like to F..., and it was wonderful, fun and exciting and I found it a super original idea that gives you a little taste of the writing style of each author. I was super excited to know that this year they will be doing Rakes instead of Dukes and even though that book was super sexy, fun and 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥, well, this one is hotter
In this collection you will find two MM stories, one MMF, one MFM and one MF 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The Last Crimes of Peregrine Hind by Sierra Simone
MM + Highwayman kidnaps a Rake to pursue his vengeance against the rake's brother + the poisoner enjoys being tied up and manhandled by Peregrine a little bit too much!
Two Rakes for Mrs. Sparkwell by Eva Leigh
MFM + Wallflower widow trying to ruin herself to obtain her freedom + Rake and Boxer heroes + Class difference
A Rake, His Patron, & Their Muse by Nicola Davidson
MMF + Playwright Rake, his patron and a feisty redhead + MAJOR pinning + Carriage s*x
Monsieur X by Adriana Herrera
MM + Glamorous 1800's Paris + Famous artist goes to s*x club and finds his match + Secret identity + Daddy kink
Sold to the Duke by Joanna Shupe

“I trust you’re enjoying your time as one of the scandalous.”
She tapped her finger against her chin. “Am I scandalous?”
“We’ll make damned certain you are,” he said, stepping close so that their bodies almost touched, “Come, love.”
He wove their fingers together and led her back toward where many guests congregated. In truth, he could have guided her toward the mouth of Hell and she would’ve gone willingly. Yet he was not the Devil, and instead of the entrance to Hades, he took her to a large octagonal stone and marble floor. Musicians stood in a nearby pavilion, and as they struck up a tune, revelers gathered.

Movement in the corner of her eye caught her attention. She turned and gasped as Jack Morgan—the enforcer from the gaming hell—leaned against the door. His arms were crossed over his massive chest, and, jaw tight, eyes gleaming, he watched Vivian ride Rush’s cock.
Her gaze moved lower and she gasped again. Jack’s breeches were snug against his erect length. He unfolded his arms and rubbed the heel of his palm up his shaft.
She ducked her head, tucking it against Rush’s neck as she closed her eyes. A quake of shame shook her, even as she ground down on Rush’s cock and her breasts ached behind her stomacher.
“We aren’t there yet, Jack,” Rush said. Another tremor racked her. A moment later, Rush murmured, “Alone again, love.”
She lifted her head slightly and cracked open her eyes. The doorway to the bedchamber was indeed empty.
Questions flew through her mind, yet Rush was still inside her, still moving his hips so that pleasure continued to reverberate hotly.
“Did you like that, little creature?” His voice was a husky torment as his hands gripped her waist. “Having Jack see us? See you fuck me like all you care about is cock?”
A moan escaped her as she pushed down hard onto him. She kept picturing the raw lust in Jack Morgan’s eyes, and how he had to touch himself while watching her.
“Ah, you did like that,” Rush rumbled. “What if he joined us, love? What if Jack and I fucked you at the same time?”
“People don’t…do that,” she panted.
“They assuredly do.” In the midst of his pleasure, he smirked.

Poets and painters only depicted love between two people, not three. Yet that reflected their own narrow ideas of what a human could feel. She had enough love in her to adore Jack and Rush.

“Extraordinary woman,” Rush murmured, kissing along her collarbone as she traced her fingers through the dark hair curing across his chest. “Only with you…only with you is it like this.”
“Tis true,” Jack added when she looked to him for confirmation.
Rush caressed the side of her face, his expression tender. “You sharing with us not just your body but your heart…that changes everything. I love you both, you know,” he added, sharing a warm look with Jack. “It frightens me a little, but I’m certain that we can fuck that fear out of me.”
“And you called me greedy.” She chuckled.

Do you have any recs for mfm romance novels? Historical ideally but im down for whatever really lol
I can only think of one book I'd recommend that is what I would call MFM--which I define as "two men and one woman but the men don't interact sexually or romantically". But everyone defines that differently, so I'll give you that AND MMF books, which I read a lot more of and define as "two men and one woman and everyone interacts sexually and romantically".
MFM:
Two Rakes for Mrs. Sparkwell by Eva Leigh. Historical. Novella. This one was originally in the Rake I'd Like to F... collection, but I believe it's now available independently (apologies if I'm wrong, the authors usually drop them independently after the collections close). The heroine is a widow, and she ends up involved with a rake and his prizefighter best friend, who love each other platonically and like to share women. She ends up in a committed relationship with them.
MMF:
A Rake, His Patron, and Their Muse by Nicola Davidson. Historical. Novella. From the same collection, same deal. In this one, the rake is experienced and so is the heroine, the lordling-type patron is new to exploring his bisexuality. It's fun and sexy, definitely for those who like a subby hero (the rake isn't, but the patron is for sure).
The Bootlegger's Bounty by Adriana Herrera. Historical. Novella. Same deal as above, but it's from the Villain I'd Like to F... collection. Heroine is a chanteuse type who ends up getting passage on a bootlegger's ship. They end up involved with each other AND this younger man.
Their Marchioness by Jess Michaels. Historical. This one is about a committed married couple; their marriage was arranged, but they're in love. However, the husband knows his wife gave up her youthful love to marry him, and so for their anniversary he brings said love (who he's been the patron of secretly) into the bedroom to share her. Then they end up interacting and it becomes this complicated emotional situatio.
Their Duchess by Jess Michaels. Historical. This one is about a duchess and her manservant (who's secretly in love with her) seeking refuge with an artist, who agrees to help them if he can paint them.... doing things. And he's interested in both of them, and vice versa.
Give Me More by Sara Cate. Contemporary. Hunter and Isabel have been together for years and are now married; Drake is Hunter's best friend since childhood, who since became close with Isabel. The three are on a road trip, Hunter sees Isabel and Drake have a moment, and he suggests they hook up in front of him... which quickly becomes a menage situation. Super great and emotional; I love it. A lot of the book involves Hunter dealing with his own internalized homophobia, so heads up on that. But to me, it felt shockingly realistic in that sense.
New Camelot Trilogy by Sierra Simone. Contemporary-ish. An all-time favorite series of mine, a bonkers-angsty-gorgeous retelling of Arthurian myth through the lens of American politics. Greer had this moment with Ash years ago, he ended up with someone else, now they're both single and he's the PRESIDENT!!! He sends his VP/best friend Embry to basically ask Greer to meet with him... But what Ash doesn't know is that after he and Greer had their moment all those years ago, Embry and Greer spent a night together and he took her virginity (!!!). And what Greer doesn't know is that Ash and Embry have a very.... complex.... history (!!!!!!!!). It's a love triangle-turned-throuple but with tons of angst and obstacles and it's Sierra Simone so obviously it's ridiculously hot. If you want the whoooooole enchilada, this is it.

Are there many books with hero doctors or prizefighters in HR?
So I know that The Last Wicked Scoundrel by Lorraine Heath, a novella I have not yet read has a doctor hero who was like, a graverobber when he was younger. Graves actually is in like a billion Lorraine books because whenever they need an abnormally skilled doctor he shows up like NOBODY MOVE! He's also super cute in Between the Devil and Desire because he shows up when Olivia has a massive fever and Jack is all "AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH" about it. And Jack and Graves grew up together, so he's like "INCHRESTING that you're so CONCERNED about a PERSON".
Hello Stranger by Lisa Kleypas has a doctor heroine I really like, but this is one of my least favore Kleypas books. It's so boring for me.
No Good Duke Goes Unpunished by Sarah MacLean has a hero who is in fact a duke, but he was quite scandalous and a suspected murderer, so he did a lot of boxing for years and is a major fighter.
Two Rakes for Mrs. Sparkwell by Eva Leigh, is an MFM novella (to be clear: the heroes are buddies who are totally happy to be in a triad with the heroine, but their love is only... platonic.... even though they do it with her together....... so............ that's a bit womp womp for me lol, but it's otherwise very good and it's one of the only MFM books that works for me, I'm usually very much a MMF book). One of the heroes is a rake, the other is a bareknuckle fighter.
Speaking of, Beast from Sarah MacLean's Bareknuckle Bastards series (Brazen and The Beast) is a fighter. And he likes to be tied up.
I forget if Kev from Seduce Me a Sunrise was like... a prizefighter per se, but he was basically a child fighter, I think. (I'm due to re-listen to that.) It's a part of his angst. It's very sad from what I recall, but, I hate to say this, I always think of that Arrested Development gag where George Bluth filmed his sons fighting and like... sold it as "BOY FIGHTS".
A Bride fo a Prizefighter by Alice Coldbreath obviously, I assume, has a prizefighter hero; but I haven't read it (yet).

Any favorite HR novellas you would recommend?
For sure! A lot of these are from similar collections, but well, them's the breaks.
My Dirty Duke by Joanna Shupe. Age gape romance, heroine is obsessed with her father's slutty best friend and decides to seduce him. Early era photography is involved.
The Chasing of Eleanor Vane by Sierra Simone. Heroine is engaged to the hero's nephew, another age gap romance, heroine attempts to escape and hero pursues. Both leads are bi, as a note.
Lady Viper and the Bastard by Eva Leigh. Currently (temporarily) available in the Villain I'd Like to F... anthology. Our protagonists are. a couple of delightfully rotten people hired by two separate families to break young lovers up. They're both in their forties, which I loved, and she's incredibly caustic and he's super slutty. Falling in love and role playing ensues.
Seven Sinful Nights by Nicola Davidson. Currently (temporarily) available in the Villain I'd Like to F... anthology. The heroine is a young widowed duchess who agrees to be the mistress of the club owner hero for seven nights to pay off her brother-in-law's debts. Age gap, hero tortures people. It's very, very sex--toys included.
The Conquering of Tate the Pious by Sierra Simone. Currently (temporarily) available in the Villain I'd Like to F... anthology. Medieval lesbian romance, one protagonist is an abbess and the other is a lady warlord. Someone does get fucked with the hilt of a dagger.
An Education in Pleasure by Eva Leigh. Heroine is older than the hero and a governess, and it's essentially a sex lessons novella. Can't go wrong with that.
The Last Crimes of Peregrine Hind by Sierra Simone. A m/m novella which focuses on a dandyish rake who gets kidnapped by a rough and tumble type who wants revenge on the rake's family. Much bondage ensues.
Two Rakes for Mrs. Sparkwell by Eva Leigh. A widow seeks ruination with a famous rake, but falls for both him and his prize fighting best friend. Luckily, they're both good with sharing.
Sold to the Duke by Joanna Shupe. The heroine has fallen on hard times following the death of her brother and plans to sell her virginity to support herself and her sister. The hero steps in to buy her virginity and save her without any expectation of sex, but she's determine to follow through on the deal.
Twelve Nights as His Mistress by Elisa Braden. This one is Christmas-adjacent, and focuses on the hero and his widowed heroine, who have been circling one another for years. She's determined to keep from saying yes to his proposal and he's determined to win her over.

Any HR recs with threesomes or anal sex?
Anal is very uncommon in mainstream HR unless it's focused on a m/m pairing, tbh (which you can find, but it's rare, and generally speaking I don't read a lot of m/m myself--I read primarily f/m, but after that it's f/f or mmf, mfm before m/m). Lisa Kleypas has a couple of books that hint at anal; there's a touch of fingering (lmao) in Suddenly You, and I think Devil in Disguise hinted at it? A Kerrigan Byrne book (How to Love a Duke in Ten Days) has anal fingering in the epilogue, lol. In The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes by Cat Sebastian there's a fairly extended scene in which the heroine fingers the hero.
I think the most extended (and probably best) anal scene I've read in HR between a f/m couple was in A Lady for A Duke by Alexis Hall. The heroine is trans in that one, and she faked her death to transition, only to meet her best friend again and for them to fall in love. She tops him in their first sex scene, and it's super emotional and hot.
Sierra Simone's novella The Last Crimes of Peregrine Hind is m/m and features anal; I really liked this one, as there's a bit of a d/s element and Peregrine is a dandy bi rake who's been kidnapped by a man who wants revenge on Peregrine's family, but ends up falling in love with him.
Eva Leigh's novella Two Rakes for Mrs. Sparkwell is a menage historical, mfm (versus mmf--so the heroes are close but not romantically involved). I don't remember if this one has anal.
Nicola Davidson writes a lot of menage historicals--I've only tried a couple novellas so far, but you should check her out. A Rake, His Patron, and Their Muse is a mmf novella that does involve anal sex. She also wrote a novella called Duke for Hire which is f/m and does, I believe, involve anal on some level but it might've just been with toys.

so I recently read A Rake, His Patron and Their Muse on your recommendation and ... omg?? wow. if you have any more mmf recs, please do share.
Hey dude, sorry for this late reply! I've been wracking my brain and I honestly don't think that I have any other HR mmf (with swords crossing) that I would recommend, tbh. I would recommend Rake I'd Like to F..., which that novella is a part of, as that one also has a novella by Eva Leigh called Two Rakes for Mrs. Sparkwell. That one does have group sex galore, but they fuck her, not each other. The guys are just buddies, though to me at least it doesn't come off as no homo so much as it comes off as them having a deep bond that happens to not be romantic.
However, I generally would recommend Nicola Davidson for more HR mmf content. I've read multiple short stories by her, and I'm pretty sure she's done more in that realm.
I would also recommend.. if you want swords to cross... try Sierra Simone. Her New Camelot series is erotic contemporary-ish romance? The heroine is a modern update of Guinevere--like Guinevere meets Jackie Kennedy. The heroes are the president of the United States, who is her husband, and the vice president, who is their best friend and lover. It's pretty fucked up, there's a lot of plot, I have mixed feelings, but uhhhh it's hot.

What are you favorite Eva Leigh books?
I've only read four so far--2 novellas, two full length. I've enjoyed all of them!
Two Rakes for Mrs. Sparkwell (novella): mfm, focuses on a widow who falls in love with a rake and his bareknuckle bawler best friend. The men just so happen to really enjoy sharing women. I tend to prefer menage books where everyone is involved with one another sexually and romantically, but she sold this dynamic really well.
An Education in Pleasure (novella): Older woman/younger man, a governess starts teaching the new young duke how to be better at sex and they both catch feelings.
The Good Girl's Guide to Rakes: Kicks off a series about three friends who are given a time limit in which they must each find a bride before their families cut them off. This one has a rake hero who agrees to start showing his best friend's sister the wild side of London in exchange for being introduced to the "right" women.
How the Wallflower was Won: Just read this one, full review coming, second in the series mentioned above. A gambler strikes a bargain with a bookish woman--he needs a wife, she needs a husband so that she can join this academic society she's eager to be a part of. Marriage of convenience ensues. This one is probably my favorite out of the four.
