236 and i have a love hate relationship. I refuse to read it but i know everything that happens 😭im just scared because if i read it in full i know ill sob like a baby but ill definitely read it before that season comes out
i hope the next time around Mappa takes their time with breaks and all :/ even if we only get an episode a month or the end product is still not 100% - i’d rather experience everything to its fullest potential
#sukugo is on par w stsg to me 😭 one of my favorite dynamics Ever
YES!!!! stsg lives in my head fr but sukugo… the way they are polar opposites yet also the closest people that can truly understand each other… lots to unravel and loads of potential there
#one thing abt akutami is he WILL not miss an opportunity to create the most homoerotic fight i’ve seen in my life 🙏🙏
i think i read a fic or a hc once (i forget who wrote it) where sukuna got off on fighting gojo and ari it was chefs kiss. perfection. i need to find it again. gege really cooked with that fight (still on a rollercoaster of emotions ab how gojo d*ed ; some days im completely behind it other days im like. wtf.)
#what if they turn sukuna vs gojo into a movie … i would Cry out of joy
jjk0 -esque… i can see the vision.. i just need that fight to be done justice thats all i beg for 😩😩
SOOOOO REAL OF YOU ANON i’m glad we agree on the sukugo dynamic they make me INSANE. the fact that gojo genuinely wanted to teach him about love…… that he wanted to reach out to him and save him from his isolation. goshhh they mean so much to me………. :(((
OOOOH AND AND AND i think i might know the fic you’re talking abt…. maybe not but this one fic on ao3 is what got me into sukugo and still one of my favorite jjk fics 🙏 the writing and characterization are so good….. i can’t find it anymore either though :’3 will try looking more later!!! pretty sure i have some screenshots of it somewhere…….
but yes pls take as much time as you need to prepare yourself before reading 236 ….. i genuinely sobbed. like actually. i couldn’t speak 😭😭 but it’s SUCH a wonderful chapter both art wise and dialogue wise….. i won’t survive seeing it animated i fear </3 (ALSO pls do yourself a favour and read the chapter on tcb because their translation is easily the best one 🙏)
AND HEAVY ON MAPPA’S PRODUCTION i’m begging them to give their employees a break next season….. i wouldn’t mind a monthly episode at all. just want them to be able to feel satisfied w their own hard work T_T !!
#a movie would be so so so fun#i miss seeing jjk 0 in theatres every single day#sending u lots of good vibes anon <3#ty for chatting w me!! would love to know your thoughts on this chapter once u read it :3#two panels in particular made me ugly cry and they’re also my favorites overall in the manga#i won’t spoil but .#“you did well”…….#i sobbed#ask tag ✩#jjk spoilers#jjk manga spoilers

Character Opinion Meme: Ren Hakuryuu from Magi
((putting it under cut because it turned out longer than i anticipated))
General Opinion: fall in a hole and die | don’t like them | eh | they’re fine I guess | like them! | love them | actual love of my life
I think, out of all my three favorites, he has been the longest that I’ve loved. Aladdin, I’ve always had a soft spot for. However, it wasn’t until around the Magnostadt arc that I really started enjoying his character. He was so precious and I was blessed to have been able to watch him grow and learn.
Hakuryuu, I loved him the moment he appeared on that ship to Sindria. In his initial appearance, when Hakuei was talking about a brother back in like episode 4-5?? I thought he would be quite the troublesome character. Let me say, I did not expect him to cry so easily and beat himself up so much. He was so much softer than I imagined his character and especially, seeing him develop was so pleasing to watch.
Hotness Level: get away from me | meh | neutral | theoretically hot but not my type | pretty hot | gorgeous! | 10/10 would bang
“[Marik abridged voice] Would you fuck me? I’d fuck me. I’d fuck me hard.” -Yugioh Abridged Series
Yes I would. Definitely would.
Honestly, if not for the scars littering his body, he would probably be considered one of the top 3 hottest Magi characters. Though only because scars are widely viewed as ugly irl and subtracts from a person’s appeal.
((this going if he were an actual person rather than an anime character. In which, considering his features, he’d still looked rather hot even with the scars, though not as hot as say Sinbad, etc))
Though honestly I think his scars just add to his appeal, not subtract. He really is a handsome character and I definitely could see him being popular. He just has that attraction to him.
Again, fight me. He’s incredibly hot and no one can change my mind. Like hotter than Sinbad hot.
Hogwarts House: Gryffindor | Slytherin | Ravenclaw | Hufflepuff
SCREAMS BECAUSE HAKURYUU WHY MUST YOU BE SO HARD TO PLACE?!?!
I honestly don’t know. Like I really don’t know. I’m struggling to put him in a house but I’m so conflicted with either Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw. Funny how I had this dilemma with Solomon as well, though he was a lot easier to sort than Hakuryuu.
I’m not sure whether to judge from first appearance, to his growth, or to how he is now. Like all the traits he’s maintained since the start to finish? Or just go by with how he is now and disregard some of the old???
Because if that’s so, I’d have to say he’s most like, uh...
Hufflepuff or Slytherin??
Hufflepuff: Students belonging to this house are known to be hard-working, friendly, loyal, honest and rather impartial. It may be that due to their values, Hufflepuffs are not as competitive as the other houses, and are more modest about their accomplishments. Hufflepuff is the most inclusive among the four houses; valuing hard work, dedication, patience, loyalty, and fair play rather than a particular aptitude in its students. (also note: unafraid of toil)
Slytherins tend to be ambitious, shrewd, cunning, strong leaders, and achievement-oriented. They also have highly developed senses of self-preservation. This means that Slytherins tend to hesitate before acting, so as to weigh all possible outcomes before deciding exactly what should be done. (also note: resourcefulness, determination, fraternity, cleverness, regard for rules)
Friendly and impartial could apply in different ways to Hakuryuu. Friendly in that he isn’t rude to others and will be polite. But he’s not exactly the type to easily approach others and make quick friends, as he keeps to himself. Nor is he that trusting. As well, with impartial, I can’t say that he is completely or not. The way he treated Kouen and his brothers, as well with Alibaba, it could be said that he’s not impartial. But considering his change and how he is now, I would say he’s closer to this? I really can’t tell with this one.
((lolol, he’s used dirty tricks plenty of times in order to get his way so definitely can’t include fair play in his character. although he’s getting closer there. you can do it Hakuryuu~))
Now with self-preservation, I’m really unsure how to weigh this one. It can be taken in very different ways, one of which is not wanting to die for a complete stranger just to look brave and chivalrous. However, Slytherins (and I’m one) hold very much importance on our loved ones (e.g. Severus Snape, Draco Malfoy (his family), etc) and will risk our lives for them.
Or in other words, Slytherins will look for ways out of dying (which includes not getting our loved ones killed too), whereas say Gryffindor will just rush into battle and get stupidly killed because “braaaaveryyy” (where they rush into things without thought).
((I am sorry if I offended any Gryffindors. This was just an observation I’ve made from reading about and knowing a lot of Gryffindors))
So, going by the negative belief of Slytherins being cowards, this does not apply to Hakuryuu. Going by the positive belief that Slytherins value life highly and will look for ways out of risking lives, Hakuryuu totally fits this.
:)
So Slytherin?
I’ll just say Slytherin.
((am I being biased because i’m one?? lolol sorry. i’d love to hear others’ opinions on this tho))
Best quality: Hakuryuu is very accepting and, when others will find ways to excuse their poor actions or turn a blind eye to them, he is not afraid to acknowledge it nor hide from it. He’s done a lot of wrong things, made a lot of mistakes, but he doesn’t cover it up and pretend he’s all good and everything. If someone confronts him on his past behaviors, he will not deny them, but will not condone them either. Instead, he is quick to learn from his mistakes and push forward to become a better person than he was before.
He knows that he will continue to make mistakes, because everyone does as no one is perfect, and he’s not afraid. He will make them, he will learn from them, and it will only make him better.
((Honestly, I think this is what attracts me to him the most. He’s been hurt and done wrong, but he’s just continuing to move forward despite the odds because he wants to be happy))
Worst quality: He is not very charismatic. Honestly, for as much knowledge and as many great ideas he has, this man cannot appeal much to others. He has many impressive traits to him - he doesn’t pardon wrong, is able to tell liars and manipulation tactics, is quite honest and doesn’t make excuses, knows how to manipulate too and get information out of enemies, is incredibly strong, ready to learn more in order to improve, and is just strong overall.
If only he just had those persuasive skills. He needs to learn how to speak in a way that appeals to others. His leadership skills would be so much better.
((which maybe he could learn from Alibaba (though Alibaba himself isn’t much more charismatic than Hakuryuu, lolol)))
Ship them with: Ooooooooooh boy. Am I allowed to make a list or am I suppose to limit it to what I mainly ship/ship strongly/only 2-3 ships???
Oh, maybe what I first shipped and what I still ship today?
Because Hakumor.
Yes.
Like I thought this would even become canon and boooooooooy was I disappointed (although I don’t hate alimor)
I mean look at these two
They fight incredibly together. After being together so long, I’m sure the two are quite familiar with the other’s style an know how to accommodate each other. Neither worries about the other in battle as well, having full trust in each other’s abilities.
((I really wish I had saved more of the two in battle))
And the way they look at each other with so much care and affection. Like even as just a friendship, you can see that the two really do care for and support each other. Despite their past differences, neither holds the other with bad will.
((Also, can we just take a moment to talk about how in the last panel, he looks more like he’s reassuring Morgiana more than anyone else??))
Not to mention, his reaction to Alibaba proposing to Morgiana and (and her accepting). In my interpretation, it honestly looked as if he ha bubbled up some hope that maybe, maybe, Morgiana was seeing him in a positive light and perhaps close to considering him a love interest. He looks at her so fondly and, in their own moments, it does seem as if she cares very very deeply about him too. Which makes this even more heartbreaking because not only is this all playing out in front of him, it’s a showing that he never really had a chance with her. Because she loved Alibaba, and Alibaba loved her in return.
Brotp them with:
Judar:
Honestly I’m pretty sure it’s obvious why.
The two just get each other
Really, both have made the other happy in their own ways. Both were each other’s first real friend who fully accepted the other.
Have you seen the way they worry about each other?? like really
Aladdin:
The two’s interactions are always so hilarious
I have this headcanon that, had Aladdin not met Alibaba but just Hakuryuu, he would have been his magi
Hakuryuu has played a big role in influencing Aladdin’s world of view.
Remember how Aladdin said he would still fight for Hakuryuu even after killing Alibaba? I think, where as Judar is “dark” side, Aladdin is Hakuryuu’s “light”. While Judar encourages Hakuryuu to let himself loose and do what he wants - even if it’s considered wrong, Aladdin has always urged him to think of more violence free solutions that would not end in hate or more violence
Plus, their interactions are hilarious. They make a really nice pair.
I mean come on
Please tell me I’m not the only one
Solomon:
I have my reasons
Mostly because of their shared belief that one should not be afraid to rely on others
Also, Solomon could teach Hakuryuu a thing or two on how to be more charismatic
Kougyoku:
The the way the two worry and look after each other is really sweet. I love the thought of them ruling Kou side by side.
They seem to think highly of each other too
She was the only one allowed to know of what was going on with Arba/Sinbad and what they planned to do next. Like this is how much he trusted her, when no one else was told.
I mean really, they would have an awesome friendship. Imagine Hakuryuu helping to boost up her self-confidence (as he’s got a way with doing) and in return, her being one of his big defenders and just looking after him
And the two just hanging out a lot and actually enjoying each other
And - *cough*
Needs to stay away from: Arba & David (for obvious reasons), Sharrkan (their views seem to clash too much. I really don’t think they would get so close considering how much of a womanizer Sharrkan is and how much Hakuryuu holds women high), Alibaba (the two may be friends now, but Alibaba has done quite the damage on Hakuryuu too. Not to mention, when Hakuryuu was in need of help, Alibaba challenged him instead of digging further into this and trying to understand. He’s been too fixated on Kassim that he reflects the two too much and thus, it’s driven Hakuryuu away. (not to mention other stuff))
Misc. thoughts: Hakuryuu was born during a time of chaos and war, when the Kou empire was still engaging in battles with the other nations to seize and control more land. However, as he was mostly sheltered for his young years, he never received the brunt affects of the war, only heard about it and of how his family was fighting was noble cause and no one would oppose them.
Growing up, he was groomed on how to be a proper prince who would eventually serve under his eldest brother (who was certain to become Emperor) and continue on to be a great warrior ready to serve Kou. He knew that both his older brothers were strong and amazing, and was determined to become as close to their level as possible.
That was all changed when his father was murder and soon after, his two brothers as well. It was during this attempt at his life, where he was severely traumatized and given the sole mission of avenging his family by killing the person responsible.
However, this incident was covered up as a tragic event caused by the opposing army and the true perpetrator was allowed free of any punishment. Being the only son left, he was the rightful heir to the throne, although it was taken by his father’s brother while he was unconscious and unable to seize this title. From then on he was neglected - kept to the shadows and constantly watched to make sure he did not cause trouble. Those who previously served him, had now turned against him and he was given no care, not even a hand to help him through this ordeal. The only one he had left was his sister, who he was determined to protect.
From then on he was mostly forgotten, given little expectation in life, and forced to watch helplessly as the person who caused all this was allowed free (even though there were people who knew who it was and did nothing about it, just let him continue to suffer). It wasn’t until he met Sinbad that he finally decided to speak up, to reach other to someone he knew could help him, and finally make due on his given mission. Even despite lacking the skill and experience, he was able to get the power of the Djinn and even make friends, form alliances, and grow as a person. And he continued to do so, even when these friends decided they could no longer help him (ideals clashing) and he was once more left again.
Battle after battle, mental and physical, he continued to grow in both power and character. The little boy that was cast aside and left to suffer, gained 2 Djinns, made allies with Sinbad and Judar, broke free of Kouen’s control, killed the person responsible for his family’s death, defeated Kouen in battle, and then took back control of Kou.
All of which no one ever thought he was possible of - never wanted him to be possible of.
He continued to exceed people’s expectations and prove them wrong. Despite the odds against him, he rose up to the challenge and overcame them. Starting off as a crybaby, he’s become a true warrior able to strike fear into many.
Not only that, but he was later able to throw away his grudge and dedicated to live his life in a way he could truly feel happy in.
Not to mention, even Arba herself was shocked at his development (even being proud?). He’s grown so much, that she can no longer manipulate him easily.
Against everything thrown at him, he’s never failed to blow others away. Can I just say how proud I am of him?? Like it’s tragic how nobody gave any damn about him but now they’re forced to look at him and see just how wrong.
Also, can I just say I love how Hakuryuu went from believing women not to be very capable in battle (often times fretting over Morgiana or Hakuei having to fight because it was not a job for women) to acknowledging that they are just as strong and capable as men.
He grew up in an environment where women were treated as objects to ensure power. A princess only had the worth of marrying someone powerful to bring more power to Kou. And anyone beneath would either be puppets for procreation or servants.
They really weren’t valued as highly.
And yet, now he regrets not treating Hakuei as an equal, and has even given the title of Emperor to his sister, Kougyoku. Who, also until that point (and even after), was considered weak and incapable. He fights for Morgiana’s honor, refusing to let her be seen as nothing more than a concubine or useful object. He is proud of Kougyoku for leading Kou and bringing back hope to her people. Even if Arba has caused him misery, he accepts that she is terrifyingly powerful and intelligent.
He’s been surrounded by badass females who again and again have gone against the expectations placed on them and shown that they are just as capable as anyone, and he is not afraid to stand with and support them.
Hakuryuu, please continue to grow and do your best. You’re wonderful and know, that even if others do not expect anything from you, I will always be here rooting you on <3
((wow this became so long :0 sorry;;;;))
(also, pictures I got for this post are all from here. and the bits about hogwart houses from here))
