my boss has had me re-assay this enzyme we got sent 3 times at increasing concentrations bc I keep getting results that are completely out of range, not my fault it just has fuck all activity, but enzyme manufacturers are so annoying bc there's no standardisation so everyone uses their own units with their own definitions BUT when they sent us the sample they sent a copy of their assay procedure they based their activity value off with their unit definition so I've dredged up my gcse chemistry knowledge from like 8-9 years ago and googled the protein molecular weight and roughly converted their units (ug of protein catalysed per min) to ours (umol of protein catalysed per min) which is like. 5000 vs 27 anyway no wonder I wasn't getting anything bc 90% of the enzymes we do this assay on have an activity in the 100s and id have to do it at a concentration of like. 18-24mg/ml for it to work (we usually only work w 1-5mg/ml). so anyway I'm gonna email my boss w the math before she asks me to do it again lol 👍
