Development of this low is not anticipated before it moves inland over the Yucatan Peninsula on Saturday. The system is then forecast to move west-northwestward, emerging over the Bay of Campeche Saturday night or early Sunday, where conditions appear generally conducive for further development. A tropical depression could form before the system moves inland again early next week over Mexico. 1. Northwest Gulf of Mexico:

A large area of showers and thunderstorms continue in association

with a broad area of low pressure interacting with a weak frontal

boundary located over the northwestern Gulf of Mexico. Upper-level

winds are expected to become less conducive for development by late

Friday and Saturday as another frontal boundary approaches the

system. Although development is unlikely, heavy rainfall is

expected across portions of the northern Gulf Coast during the next

day or so. Additional information on this system can be found in

products issued by your local National Weather Service Forecast

2. Northwestern Atlantic (AL99):

Showers and thunderstorms have become better organized in

over the next day or two while it moves generally

north-northeastward, remaining offshore of the northeastern United

States. Once the low moves over cooler waters by early Saturday,

Some gradual development is possible late in the weekend into early

next week after the system emerges over the southwestern Gulf of

Mexico.

environmental conditions could become more conducive for some slow

development while the system moves over the southwestern Atlantic

Sometimes it feels like an entire lifetime has transpired between posts. Thinking about the time that has transpired is bittersweet. On one hand it's like "oh shit, time is really getting away from me" and on the other hand it's like "oh shit, look how far I've come!" And that remains the state of this whole journal thang. Duality. The shitty times and the good. Ebbs and flows. Reading through that last post, I vividly remember the feelings of hopelessness around dating, around feeling stuck.

It's always ebbs and flows, it seems. My outlook is still kinda gloomy. I didn't sleep well at all last night and I was in bed almost all day today feeling like absolute death. It's hard not to contemplate how I would deal with situations like this differently if I had my own space. Or maybe I wouldn't even be in this predicament because I would have a more consistent healthy routine and get the things I want to do done during the day and actually sleep at night. We're in that weird transitional period between seasons where al the winter clothes need to be dug out and summer clothes put away. Three people in a two bedroom place means there's not a lot of room for everything and so a lot our clothes are in storage. Even the minor inconvenience of digging everything out brought on those thoughts of 'what if?' "In my own place I wouldn't have to deal with this shit. It would all just be there in one spot."

I do my best get over these humps and resume some form of mental stability and normalcy. I try to think about positive strides. Work is still just okay, but 'just okay' is a lot better than awful and I have to keep that in mind. I'm starting the process of doing some certification courses, making moves, to hopefully make more money, to hopefully make some LITERAL moves sooner rather than later. Talked to the folks at my bank about saving more over the next little while, started the conversation about mortgage pre-approvals and what it would ACTUALLY take to move out. Baby steps. Wish they weren't so baby, but they're steps. Seems to be a theme doesn't it? "Just okay" is better than "awful." "Baby steps" are better than no steps at all. And a date is better than no date.

That one girl who I told myself not to freak out about when the date didn't happen...the one prospect left after all of the seemingly "great luck" I was having on the apps for a while...the one girl I had been talking to since all the way back in July when I was visiting my friend on the East Coast...the "last remaining light" as it were (if I can invoke a little Audioslave)...the date didn't happen that day but it did eventually happen. And it went well. And I'm seeing her again in a couple of weeks. And she's cool and she's nice and all I can really do is hope it goes well.

I have a bad habit of getting too invested. It happened almost a year ago to the day, with the one other girl from these apps that I seemed to have a decent connection with. It fizzled early, after two dates. All I can really hope for is to make it to three this time. Just let it rock. Don't get my hopes up too high. I suppose I have to remember that if it doesn't work out, there are still so many other things to focus on. And the year is almost over. That part is fucking wild. But it means I made it another year.

There's another trip coming. In a week I'm going to Mexico with a small group and if I'm being honest, for the longest time I was kind of mad at myself I ever let them convince me to go. I was dreading it. A fucking trip to a tropical destination RIGHT as it's starting to get shit cold around here...and my spoiled ass was sulking about it. As it approaches now I'm coming to my senses and getting a bit more excited. It's another break from everything. Another opportunity to reset. Those don't really come as often as I want them so I should count my fucking blessings. AND my folks might take a little trip as well after I get back, meaning yet another nice stint of time where I've got the place to myself, when I can imagine what it'll be like when I'm back out on my own, when I've finally reclaimed the last of that independence I have been so fixated on.

It's ebbs and flows right? Sad, lonely, and sick of the same routine. Hopeful, open, and changing it up. I gotta grasp at those straws as they whizz past me as I fall super fucking fast toward my destination, not realizing the speed in which I'm moving.

There was a bit of an ant problem in my apartment the last few weeks. Got a few traps, seems to have cleared 'em right up. I'm sure there's a metaphor in there somewhere. There's always a solution I guess? Even if the solution is just knowing that a REAL solution will get here eventually.

Chances of development in the Caribbean Sea have gone up from 50% (in the next 7 days) to 60% (in the next 7 days) and 10% (in the next 2 days). On top of that, two additional areas of interest have been marked - one near the Greater Antilles, with a 10% chance of development in the next 2 days, and one in the far north Atlantic, hundreds of miles west of the Azores, with a 20% chance of development in the next 2 days.

CNN tracked two hurricane season outlooks this year: the forecast from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which was released last week, and another from researchers at Colorado State University, who have been issuing seasonal forecasts for more than 37 years.

NOAA officials are predicting an average hurricane season, with 12 to 17 named tropical storms, five to nine of which could become hurricanes. They expect as many of four of those could strengthen into major hurricanes – category 3 or stronger.

A slightly more optimistic prediction from tropical cyclone Dr. research scientist Dr. Philip J. Klotzbach.

Phil Klotzbach, a research scientist at Colorado State, said in April his group was predicting a slightly below-average season this year: 13 named storms, six hurricanes and two major hurricanes.

The key difference between tropical depressions, tropical storms and hurricanes lies in their wind speeds and the level of organization within the system.

While a tropical depression represents the earliest stage of cyclone development, named tropical storms exhibit more structure and stronger winds. There is a disagreeable kind of person you will run across quite frequently in discussing Buddhism. the mythology of rahu and ketu 🐉:

i am about to take a deep dive into the lunar and nodal nakshatras so i thought this would be the perfect post to prelude my upcoming explorations of the nakshatras of chandra, rahu, and ketu!

✨rahu depicted above:

🌑 for those who are new to vedic astrology, ketu and rahu are the shadow planets of the moon. they are what many tropical astrologers refer to as the south node (ketu) and north node (rahu). except, in vedic astrology, they have more intricate and prevalent meanings. rahu’s ruling deity is often said to be the goddess durga and ketu’s ruling deity is said to be lord ganesha.

🐉 rahu means “to abandon” or “void”. rahu is the prince of the daityas (the offspring of the goddess diti and kasyapa, they are giant spirits who fought against the devas out of jealousy towards their deva half-brothers). rahu was born the son of viprachitta and sinhika. whereas, ketu means a “sign” or “banner” and is the son of viprachitta and sinhika, as rahu and ketu are two sides of the same coin (they are two imaginary planets, of the same origin, that can only be evaluated when both are taken into account).

🌌 the solar system takes approximately 365 days for the earth to orbit the sun and approximately 28 days for the moon to orbit the earth. twice a year, the lunar and solar paths intersect to create solar and lunar eclipses. during these eclipses, the sun/moon is enshrouded by the darkness of one of the nodes. as discussed previously, rahu is the ascending node and ketu is the descending node. they will always be retrograde (as the nodes move backwards) and opposite of each other.

🌠 the story of rahu and ketu’s origin lies in the puranic texts (whose date of origin is said to be of the time before creation). after a deeply strenuous and violent war, the gods and demons decided to work together to churn the galactic material (milk ocean). this material is called amrita, the nectar of immortality, which was created out of the intent for the gods’ use alone. the snake demon, who sat between the thrones of surya and chandra, sneakily took a sip of amrita. lord vishnu, the sustainer of the universe, almost immediately be-headed him. this is why rahu is said to be the head of the serpent demon without a body and ketu is the tail without a head. due to rahu taking a sip of amrita, they are now immortal. lord vishnu placed rahu and ketu in two specific points in the sky. they are now only visible when eclipsing the sun and moon.

✨ you will notice that ketu is depicted as sitting on the crow. the mahavidya correlated to ketu, dhumavati (one of the ten tantric goddesses), is also symbolized by the crow. the crow is said to be symbolized by the tamasic shani too. this is why feeding crows is considered to be a remedy for an afflicted rahu, ketu, or shani! crows are also fed as part of shradh, a hindu ritual, which is an annual ritual conducted on the thithi, anniversary, of a person’s death. after someone dies, annually the deceased person’s family prepares a feast consisting of their relative’s favorite dishes. they then take turns to serve the dishes on a banana leaf, then the leaf is placed outside. the relatives call out to the crows to invite them to participate in the feast. once a crow begins to eat from the leaf, it is assumed that the deceased person (now in the form of the crow) has eaten, and the ritual is successfully finished. as this action indicates that the deceased ancestor’s soul is now appeased. crows can also be fed on amavasya days, as our dead ancestors are said to supposedly visit us on those days.

💫 ketu represents our karma, whether it is both good or bad. he represents spirituality and supernatural influences. ketu signifies the refinement of the spiritual process of materialization into the spirit. ketu is considered to be malefic, but not as malefic as the fierce, strong rahu who drank the nectar of immortality. this is why ketu is said to be submissive and cannot aspect other planets like rahu, because ketu is an uncontrollable and fluid being. he represents sorrow and loss and, therefore, is responsible for our journey to seeking a higher power. he will cause material loss for the purpose of bestowing the native with a more fitting spiritual outlook. ketu is also the karaka intelligence, wisdom, non-attachment, fantasy, insight, and psychic abilities. because ketu is not vain and is spiritually rich, he brings prosperity to the devotee's family and is said to remove the effects of venoms and poisons. if you devote yourself to him, he grants good health, wealth and livestock to his devotees.

⭕️ rahu represents materialism, mischief, fear, dissatisfaction, obsession and confusion. the illusionary and deceitful nature of rahu is also why it is associated with politicians and occult sciences. interestingly enough, rahu is even mentioned in a pair of scriptures from the samyutta nikaya of the pali canon. in the candima sutta and the suriya sutta, rahu attacks surya and chandra. he is then compelled to release them by buddha. buddha instructs rahu to release surya and chandra, the alternative being to have rahu’s head being split into seven pieces. rahu proceeds to release them. the verses spoken by surya, chandra, and buddha in this passage are also recited by monks as prayers of protection. this could be why rahu is said to be friends with buddha, because buddha was one of the few deities who could adequately tame the malefic energies of rahu.

♟each planet is an expression of our own divine consciousness. the nodes are a combination of the earth (body), surya (soul) and chandra (mind). this intense influence is why they are regarded as one of the most influential planets in our creative and illusionary expressions. rahu is insatiable, obsessive and does not know how to take no for an answer. ketu is intelligent, wise, non-attached, and ultimately our spiritual liberation. this is why the rahu/ketu axis tells one what they must do to attain moksha. think of ketu as the defensive king in chess who is limited in the steps he can take but wise in his pursuit. rahu is the offensive queen who has multiple possible routes to take and her power/strength can easily be abused.
