Recently followed the W this year and fell in love with they way the Sky plays in the playoff run (sloot 🐐), yet even I know that the heart of the team are the Vanderquigs. Candace is great but they focused too much on her narrative. Give me Allie and Sloot! I wanna read about their journey 😭😭😭

it's hard because i really do love CP and don't want to like disregard how important she was to this championship run! but there's a lot of revisionist history going on lol. allie and sloot built this team, and pieces were gradually added over the years, most notably in 2017 with astou/stef/kah, 2018 with diamond, and now 2021 with candace. all of those were crucial moments, and i don't love seeing so many people ignore them in favor of the most recent one.

but there have been some good articles too! from people who you can tell have actually followed the team before this season and understand the building blocks that were in place. i think the chicago sun times had a couple good ones, they know what's up.

this has been sloot's team since edd left, and it just makes me a bit sad that in the future, the thing most people are going to associate this season with is candace coming home. for me personally (obvs subjective though), that's only like the 3rd most compelling story. The top 2, in no particular order, are allie/sloot finally getting a ship, and the rise of kah copper. that's obviously very biased because allie and kah have been my two favorites for a couple years now, but i think for a lot of fans of the team those were the two storylines we were most emotionally attached to this year. at least kahleah's been getting the love, though!
