every time americans do their whole ‘woohoo the french are striking for the 300th time in a 20 day period for no fucking reason’ shtick i just remember that time leftists were full throatedly cheering on the yellow jacket protest when the yellow jacket protest was a protest against mild environmental regulations to make sure the planet doesn’t die
#personal#twitter leftists like 'we need to save the environment from the capitalists!!!'#'but also the french throwing manure around for trash people to clean up and causing riots because they don't wanna save the environment'#'is just like so cool and based and marx coded omg i love it'#americans should be legally barred from discussing the domestic affairs of any country that isn't like a despotic dystopian nightmare#or the united kingdom#i sincerely mean that

love the blog and I'm glad you're still running it after so long, but you repeatedly making the point that tumblr is unique in it's anti vegan leftism is nowhere close to being true. one search of r/socialism or leftist twitter will immediately tell you that. we need to stop acting like leftist or "leftist" give a damn about animals, or the people who animal ag hurt and disenfranchise. it's just not true. (sorry if this feels aggro, it's not meant to, but we see it everywhere.
It’s reflective of my own experiences here and on other platforms, at least, perhaps I’m just looking in the wrong place? I’m not saying anti-vegans aren’t prominent everywhere else because of course they are, but the specific brand of ‘woke’ anti-vegans and the way they try to manipulate left wing and anti-capitalist arguments to prop up an exploitative industry is something I really haven’t seen anywhere other than Tumblr on anywhere near this scale.
I do think that even here things are getting better though, the science is not irrefutable and anyone who has an evidence based approach to the environment in particular is going to have to confront the fact that animal agriculture is not sustainable, and that any serious attempt to save our planet just include a global move away from animal products and towards sustainable, plant-based alternatives.
