Hey, Yuri, do you think Yuu would ever run the risk of being put in danger by having a romantic relationship with any of the more high-profile members of the cast? I mean, we’ve got royalty, nobility, celebrities, and the very wealthy attending this school. I’ve just been rotating my brain about how these relationships would work out and Yuu is a pretty vulnerable target without NRC’s security. - 🦐

Hmmmmmm. I have a bunch of thoughts about this actually... I tried ranking them from least to most dangerous if that makes sense? But don't read too deeply into the bullet point placements they were mostly just a stream of consciousness thing.

Not that Risky (surprisingly)

Leona- we don't really have details about his brother's marriage, but I don't think his family has been shown to be overly keen on forming alliances with outside countries, the Savannah seems more concerned with itself. I don't think his family would be too fussed with his partner being a magicless person from outerspace, if anything this might be seen as a plus to the councilors that are always mocking Leona behind his back as his partner's lack of royal blood makes him even less fit for the throne. Not to mention Leona himself is more than enough to protect Yuu, he's the only royal at the school without a proper retainer (which you could argue is because no one at home likes him) but I doubt his family would let him do that if he was genuinely in danger.

Rook- he's Rook. His family does sound rather sweet from the very very very little we know about him (he also seems like he was kind of sheltered as a kid, something I should chew on sometime) so I doubt they would allow anything too bad to happen to Yuu.

Vil- his main issue is his contract, the Japanese Idol industry is cut throat and often sees things like bans on relationships as part of the contract. Vil doesn't want to risk his career or reputation, he mentions that he himself is a brand and I can't see him wanting to put that pressure on Yuu if they're not up for it. But... there are also celebrities who have really private personal lives and I sort of get the sense Vil is like that? And I don't think he would be too bothered if Yuu didn't want to be super public, it would certainly make it easier to keep you safe.

Idia- S.T.Y.X. might be a gloomy place but no one knows where it is

Medium Danger (danger is real but can be managed)

Jade and Floyd- we don't actually know what their family does, just that it's probably sketchy and that Mama Leech calls them every day, taught them self defense, and just generally seems to worry about them a lot. The danger is very real under the sea, but I also sort of get the sense that messing with the Leech family is skipping the fuck around and going straight to find out.

Azul- his business is going to make him enemies sooner or later, but at least during school Yuu should be more or less safe. Azul's able to keep on top of the students who mean Yuu harm, and Yuu is able to politely ignore their boyfriend's business (or maybe they have a knack for helping?) When you get older I can see Azul's need for a security team expanding, but he'll have money to get the best.

Riddle- ok so. I don't think his mom would try to kill you. But god she would be such a toxic person to manage. I'm actually working on a (very old) request atm that involves discussing what Riddle's mom might do if she finds Riddle with a partner instead of his studies (which I assume she's paying for) especially during his internship. She'd go full scorched earth and get very confused when Yuu doesn't back off like Trey did.

Huston We Have a Problem

Kalim- the amount of assassination attempts my poor boy has already canonically endured... I imagine there are probably going to be more in his future. I can see Yuu needing their own retainer (which could be a fun concept for an oc) to protect them and test their food. When Grim becomes a great mage I'm sure he could help with that actually, wouldn't that be cute?!

MALLEUS- acceptance of humans is virtually non existence in Briar Valley AND his mother hated humans so much she "blessed" her child to only be loved by fae. We don't actually know how the senate works but I imagine they would lose their ever loving shit if Malleus brought home a human as a friend and now he wants to make them his spouse? No. They say no. Time to show them what an absolute monarchy means I guess.

Assuming Yuu isn't in a relationship with Malleus I could see their friendship actually sort of being a boon to them, especially if Yuu was with Kalim or Azul. Pissing of the merchants is one thing, but the King of the Abyss? No thank you, they'll just take their losses and go.

I had a question for a while and I'm sorry if you answered it before and I seemed to not notice , if that's the case then forgive my ignorance but I was wondering , since sebek seems to respect his grandfather alot and has inherited the hate for humans from him and it's a known fact in self-aware au that the faes 'love' the overseer alot I must say.. does that mean that sebek also inherited his 'love' for the overseer from his granpa? If so how did green grandpa see the overseer, what made him 'love' them and how does he show it .

So imagine the huge shock he felt when he finally became a solider under the Draconia banner and started to become more and more like the other Faes

Well, for starters, yes, he wasn't indoctrinated into the whole church thing since birth but also wasn't raised to see you as an equal like the beastmen of the Savannah

You could say that he was a healthy mixture of both

You see, isolation and being the only one sticking out (if we discount the humans invading the valley) does leave you open for a lot of things

If we count two (being the surroundings he was in) and two (his more or less unnoticed loneliness) together, we can see pretty fast where that led

Never mind his superior (and friend I mean come on they might as well be brothers) Lilia constantly rambling about the Overseer, savior of all, and how you accepted everyone in your kind embrace

Ok. Nice. Neat. Great. In the beginning, Baul wasn't very interested in joining any kind of religion

But the longer the war held on, the more he wished there was someone he could ask for help in his task of protecting those he deemed close to himself (you see the generational pattern?)

At some point, even the proudest of all can't hold on for forever

So he turned to you, the supposed God that was on so gentle

And goddamn that religious gaslighting and placebo effect worked damn well

Not only did he feel like there was someone there who supported him from somewhere in the universe (even though that was just him believing too much but let have him have some hope, ok?) but also he finally had a community

Whenever he would leave one of the many churches in the valley a Fae would approach, thanking him for protecting their home

Sooner than later did the former non-believer think of himself as your chosen shield of the valley

The war came and went away

If only the same thing could be said about Bauls new religious beliefs

And when he saw that grandson of his, cute little chubby hands that gripped a wooden toy sword tightly, he knew that his position as the valleys shield would not cease

Yes, even Baul would die one day. Fae or not, he was at the end of the day mortal

But that talent of his grandson would surely be of use to you, right?

If his younger self would see him like this, would it run away? Would it feel disgust at the thought that his future self would use his own grandson for selfish, religious reasons?

If only Baul knew that “God” didn't even know they were living beings that existed in a different world…

revamped them a bit

stylistically not much has changed but i did put a sticker over the icon on polaris's laptop and added the prep school logo from chihiro's original design to the vest

some other stuff i came up with on the fly:

polaris is not wearing a school uniform despite how it might look. she didn't attend school consistently since she was on the run from her shit ass family but she likes the aesthetic so most of her clothes look vaguely academic

polaris's laptop is actually something custom-made by some tech company in the togami conglomerate. one of the first things she did with it was deactivate all the tracking and background programs and more or less gut its operating system

if chihiro hadn't stepped up to help his father's company he would have gone down the route of research and programming. as it is he knows enough about tech and software to be able to work with them, but not to the degree of being an 'ultimate'

chihiro did go to a private school but only attended it sporadically since he was also co-running an entire company. but he usually wears his school outfit to give the impression of being an innocent fancy lad (however, the cross-tie was not originally from the school's uniform)

chapter two.

imaginary friend!Baji x child! Reader (PLATONIC!!)

warnings: female reader, usage of female pronouns, dramatics at the end/ plot twist??, fluff, rushed again lol, toddler reader

“You can touch my hair but don’t mess it up!” The tall pale teen grumbled as (y/n) playfully reached up, staring into his eyes every once in a while to check if he was mad or not. She stretched her small chubby hands on Baji’s scalp messing around with his dark glistening hair. Distracted by how soft Baji’s hair was, the little girl allowed Baji a minute to contemplate on what had occured just a few moments ago. The little girl was terrified of Baji! She was trembling just from the thought of his existence, convinced he was a ‘scary ghost’ . He was so lost in thought he failed to notice himself slipping away from reality and into his own thoughts. Just a few moments ago the small child playing calmly with his hair wanted to do nothing with the boy! But with just a simple offer and relaxed stance; she was completely won over.

Baji relaxed a bit as he recalled how easily he had composed her as she previously thought he was a ‘scary’ ghost that was going to haunt her. First the girl cried; then he kneeled down, sitting criss-cross allowing her easier access to him while offering to let her play with his hair. “How about this..you can play with my hair or whatever. I’ll stay calm and let you, then you’ll know I’m a nice ghost, right?” Baji had offered originally, thinking the girl would refuse but instead she immediately warmed up while awkwardly approaching him. He brought his big strong hands over to gently pick her up and bring her towards him with a quiet sigh escaping his lips.

A large tug on his long black locks brought his attention back to reality as he whipped his head around to stare silently at the girl. “Don’t tug!” He gruffed out while giving (y/n) a slight glare. He earned a small ‘sorry’ from her before he turned his head back around, still slightly sour at being brought out of his thoughts so quickly. Baji grew even more curious once he stopped feeling her small hands exploring his head and instead felt them wrap around his head and neck with a vicious grip; followed by the added weight of the girl on top of his shoulders which put the boy off balance at first but he quickly composed himself to not look ‘weak’ to her. 

“Why are you on my shoulders? Hop off.” Baji plainly stated while giving the girl a rather dead stare. “No! Mr.Squiggles needs to learn to not scare me again!” (Y/n) cutely huffed out, tightening her grip on his hair and face while securing her ‘seat’ on top of Baji’s large shoulders. (Y/n) had asked something else of him which had caught the teen quite off guard, “You’re my new pillow.” His eyes squinted a bit before fully taking in what the girl had said, before Baji had known it a small smile made its way on his face. “Oh really? Well my head isn’t exactly comfy. Why don’t you hop off my shoulders and into my lap?” He had offered to try and lure the girl off of his sore shoulders and onto his pain-free lap. She lit up at the offer, almost immediately hopping off the boy and crawling into his lap with delight. 

The little toddler fell asleep very quickly once she had settled herself onto Baji’s comforting lap. While she napped he absentmindedly started stroking her hair softly while she snored quietly snuggled into his large lap. Baji had lost track of how much time must have passed by since she fell asleep due to his rushing mind numbing the outside world but the sound of the girl's supposed mother walking around the house definitely grabbed his attention. His heart immediately started racing attempting to quickly think of a plan to hide on the spot, he hurriedly glanced around the room until he had spotted a table he could prop up to create a hiding spot.

He gently pushed the girl off of his lap and stood up with incredible speed while stepping over to the mini play-table, grabbing it by the frames, and flipping it onto one side to create an obvious but easy hiding space. He had just narrowly avoided the girl's mother coming up the stairs to check on her sweet girl in her playroom upstairs as he ducked behind the created blind spot. He carefully peaked out to check when the mother would leave but instead saw her sitting down on her knees next to her sleeping toddler, brushing her soft fingers over her child’s face before glancing over at the weirdly positioned table.

Baji knew she would see him as he ducked his head quickly back behind the table as he heard her steps nearing him and his little hiding spot. Baji began quickly mentally preparing himself to possibly receive a beat-down by the girl's mother in fear or the girl's mother rushing him out of the house with the police on stand-by. He clenched his fists before looking up hopelessly only to see the mother grab the very table he was hiding behind and repositioning the table back to its original position without even acknowledging his existence. 

Baji stared at the mother in disbelief before standing up and bravely standing right in front of the mothers path, only for the woman to just walk through him? The teen froze as he stood in utter disbelief. She didn’t even react? Or look at him? How on earth did she even walk through him? He stood silently as he racked his brain for possibilities of how this occurred before the simple but genius thought occurred to him, he was an imaginary friend of (y/n)’s.
