oh I’m definitely in the minority, to judge from the uptick in Rexsoka activity after S7 — it became almost normalized, which, needless to say, amused everyone who’d known the Rexsoka scene in 2018 lol. 

But anyway — reasons why the ship rests in pieces for me:

I simply do not see Rex being able to overlook Ahsoka’s deliberate decision to let Maul go, given how that ended. I just don’t. She sacrifices an entire battleship’s worth of men — many, if not most of whom Rex would know as brothers — to save one. In what world does that sit right with Rex, who is unwillingly burdened with this survivor’s guilt that she’s created for them both? How is he supposed to find solace with the person responsible for that? And let’s not insult Ahsoka’s intelligence and pretend she doesn’t know exactly what she’s doing. She doesn’t let Maul go out of altruism. She tells him to go cause trouble! She knows Maul’s character; she knows precisely what he is capable of, and she still goads him to do his worst. Ahsoka may not have predicted that Maul would go for the ship’s guts, but at the end of the day, men on that Venator were dispensable to her. How does Rex not see this as a huge betrayal of faith? Anyone who thinks Ahsoka is Rex’s entire world and so he just wouldn’t care ~as long as they’re together~ knows jack shit about military culture. It’s in the best interests of the military — to say nothing of a space dystopian military full of overgrown child soldiers who’ve bonded since birth — to instil a supremely strong sense of brotherhood, because it’s your attachment to the guy next to you that keeps you doing shit that’s insane, damn difficult, and against your strongest survival instincts. That watertight camaraderie doesn’t disappear overnight because you’re getting laid on the reg.

So like, that shot near the finale’s end? With Ahsoka looking all sad at the graves of the men she helped kill and Rex looking all sad at her, like boo-hoo, this poor Jedi, what a burden for her … it just made me feel sick, even when I like Ahsoka as a character.

This isn’t to say I would’ve changed the how the story was written, or that it doesn’t make sense for a young adult in a shitty, scary situation to make a shitty decision when there aren’t any “good” decisions to be made. Like, narratively, Ahsoka’s actions don’t bother me that much, and I accepted that my OTP was a casualty of the story. But on a meta level, I am extremely bothered by the fact that her sacrifice of those men will probably never form an explicit part of Ahsoka’s character journey. Rebels clearly established that Ahsoka’s emotional burden is overwhelmingly her ““abandonment”” of Anakin — and yes, Rebels was written before TCW S7, but it’s also the only heavy background emotion her bizarre Mandalorian iteration is given as well. Ahsoka will continue to be the new-era Star Wars Light-Side darling and her character will probably never be made to grapple with this mass murder that she casually enabled at the tender age of 17 or whatever.

Which is honestly what spoils the ship for me retroactively as well? I just can’t love Ahsoka like I used to. And the whole arc just reinforces the fact that the clones have no agency in their own story even as its being written. Rex’s Rebels statement that he chose to have his chip removed is bullshit, however many circles we try to run around that retcon, and hundreds of clones dying because of the the selfishness of the key Jedi protagonist who should know better is just a sad moment for said protagonist to never return to.

I will always defend the ship; it’s hard to survive near annihilation at the hands of antis and not be ready to cross swords. But my heart just isn’t with Rex and Ahsoka as a couple anymore, mostly on Rex’s behalf.

Chaos ensues. XD That absolutely would happen to Hunter; with all the babies Cyare’s bound to have a short labor or several. In fact the whole reason he missed their first is because Cyare’s delivery progressed much faster than any of them had anticipated (with your first it’s said that labor is supposed to be pretty long and intensive and that’s what they had prepared for) and even though Hunter was still planet-side when he got the call, by the time he made it back to the ship (which was pretty fuckin’ fast) there was already a baby in her arms. :(

It’s not as dramatic the more kiddos they have but when fast labors happen Hunter is still a floundering stud. XD

Meanwhile Cyare can pop the baby out all on her own and be down at the buffet for dinner.

Sometimes it’s not (and doesn’t have to be) as grandiose as we’re made to believe. Sometimes it’s just a simple conversation and consensus (it should always be a topic of conversation at some point in a relationship lol) between two people.

That’s precious about your grandparents lol and the funny thing with Crosshair and Dee is, they never have a wedding, even years down the road and at the behest of Crosshair’s brothers. They never cave. Not even for a milestone. They never renew their vows either (unlike Hunter and Cyare who of course do lmao after they’ve all their babies; and the girlies get to be honorary flower girls🥰). They celebrate their anniversary - which Cross never forgets - and that’s it. It’s very lowkey - but just as special. They made a commitment to each other, and that’s that, now they’re gonna live their life.

It’s inherently funny to me that Crosshair and Delana elope (random thought I know, I’ve talked about it briefly before but I have more thoughts. Sorry, it’s not Soft Sniper Sunday but I’m always thinking about these two).

There’s literally no epic fanfare or dramatic climax (lol), it’s merely suggested in passing.

Of course there’s deep-rooted feelings to back it up; he’s in love with her and she’s in love with him, there’s a mutual, unspoken desire to spend the remainder of life with each other, but Crosshair is the one to suggest it, one quiet morning over breakfast.

Yes, Crosshair is the one who initiates.

Delana hides her surprise behind the rim of her mug. She takes a measured sip and lets the morning caf bring some clarity to his sudden advance. Not unanticipated. Just sudden.

Delana gives Crosshair a measured look. He’s dead serious, his caf totally abandoned in favor of eyeing her intently as he awaits her response. No doubt his fragile ego banking heavily on her assent.

The corner of her lip twitches. “Are you proposing?”

“I’m saying. Let’s get married.”

“Today?”

Crosshair shrugs. “Why not.”

(When she agrees with a casual and heart-stopping “Okay.” he’s taking an immediate sip of his caf to hide his stupid happy grin.😍)

Well you’re in luck because working on ACCPOV The Siege I just keep getting distracted by Din and Cara lol

Also there is so, so, so little Cara Dune content anymore (and 75% is actually about the actress, not the character) let alone Caradin so at this point the urge to just Thanos is it overwhelming

(I have a Caradin fic I’m working on.  But after getting mega stuck on Hunter and the Hunted I’m keeping it close until I have a big chunk of it done so I can be sure to provide more regular updates like I could with No Prison Can Hold.)

Headcanon: Grogu walks in on his parents(Din and Cara) having sex.

I mean... it's canon the Force allows one to sense feelings. Grogu senses Mom and Dad are happy and having fun? Without him and after his bedtime? Well any curious toddler would want to see what's so fun and if he can have fun too!

Fortunately he's also too little to really understand what's going on when he opens the door with the Force (can you imagine childproofing a house against a little one with telekinesis?? Locks would not be enough) and if they're quick draws with blasters I'm sure Din and Cara can yank the sheets up fast enough. The biggest challenge would probably be persuading stubborn, attention-loving Grogu to go back to bed.
