HIATUS ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi, all! The day has come where tumblr has become more stress than fun, so I will be largely stepping away for a while. I've had a ton going on in my life since December, and the writing block has been REAL, so I'm hoping that stepping away from the background noise will help me get back to the basics and reconnect with writing. Fingers crossed that I can come back with a bunch of new content for you all 🤞
If you want to chat in the meantime, you can find me on discord under the same username.

A/n: Thank you so much for the request! I didn't know exactly what to write but I hope you like where I went with this. There's not a lot of Daryl x Reader in this, but it was so fun to write about Carol and reader's platonic relationship. I love Carol with my whole heart.
As always, my requests are open for any TWD requests. AND NOW THEY'RE ALSO OPEN FOR ANY SCUD FROHMEYER REQUESTS! It's actually criminal how little fics about him there are, so send in any thoughts, headcannons or requests about him, along with some about our wonderful Daryl Dixon.
—
“Woah, woah, woah. Wait a second. He said that?”
“Yeah,” you nodded, wiping a stray tear from your eye. “I understand he doesn't want me to be in danger, but I can tell how much he hates it here. I don't want him to be alone, but he keeps pushing me away. I don't know what to do, Carol. He won't even talk to me about it without starting up an argument.”
Carol pulled you into her embrace, gently rubbing your back as you quietly cried into her shoulder. She slightly rocked you side to side, whispering reassuring things into your ear as she tried to calm you down. She held you tightly, refusing to let up until you felt better.
After a couple of minutes of just being held, you pulled back and wiped the remaining tears from your eyes. You gave her a weak smile and stood up, wiping your hands on your jeans.
“Sorry about all that,” you apologized sheepishly. “I don't know why I broke down like that.”
“Don't apologize,” she reassured you, waving you off. “It's good to let your emotions out every once in a while. Bottling them up doesn't help, believe me.”
“Maybe you should try telling that to Daryl,” you scoffed, folding your arms over your chest. “He's done nothing but bottle up his feelings lately. I understand that he's not the most open person when it comes to things like feelings, but he always talked to me whenever something was bothering him. Now he's becoming more like the Daryl I knew when we first met back at Terminus. Reserved and closed off.”
Carol nodded, intently listening to you. “Do you want me to talk to him?”
You shook your head. “No,” you began, crossing your arms over your chest. “I don't want him to get pissed at you either. I'll be fine.”
Carol pursed her lips and hesitantly agreed. “Okay, if you're sure.”
“I am,” you nodded, before hearing the walkie-talkie go off in your pocket, your sister on the other line.
“There's a problem. One of these pendejos caused a fight to break out and I can't find Daryl anywhere.”
“Mierda,” you cursed under your breath. You looked at Carol apologetically. “Sorry, I have to go.”
“It's okay,” she reassured you, getting up to give you a quick hug. “Be safe out there, alright?”
“Always am,” you quipped before rushing out of the room, talking to Rosita on the walkie-talkie. “I'm on my way. Keep them from killing each other.”
With that, you were gone. Carol looked at where you disappeared into and sighed, a million thoughts plaguing her mind, but she was sure about one thing—she had to confront Daryl about the way he was treating you. Carol was the one who had encouraged Daryl to pursue a romantic relationship with you in the first place, and she'd be damned if he threw it all away because of his stubborn nature.
With determination, she got up and walked out of the door, one destination clear in her mind. She knew exactly where Daryl would be at that moment, and it was as good a time as any to try and knock some sense into the archer.
—
“Figured I'd find you here.”
Daryl looked up at the approaching woman, a cigarette hanging from his lips. He grunted in acknowledgement at Carol, turning his gaze away from her and back to the ground.
Carol sat down next to the archer. She stared ahead and sighed, catching Daryl's attention. “I know I've said this a lot, but I really think Y/n is the one for you, you know?”
Daryl furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, not sure why the Peletier would bring you up as the topic of conversation. “Yeah,” he started, nodding slightly. “I think so too.”
“Really?” Carol asked. When Daryl nodded, she continued. “Then why the hell are you pushing her away? Do you have something you wanna prove?”
“I ain't pushin' her away,” he replied, more confused now. He took a final drag from his cigarette before putting it out, flicking it away from him.
“Then why the hell would she feel the need to come to me for advice on what to do? In tears, might I add.”
Daryl's frown deepened. “Wha'?” he asked, suddenly feeling small under Carol's scrutinizing stare. “She came to ya cryin'?”
“Yeah,” she nodded, pursing her lips. “She came to me about the argument you had with her this morning. From what she told me, you said some pretty nasty stuff. What's that all about?”
Daryl sighed, realisation dawning on him. Memories of the argument he had with you flashed through his mind and he grimaced. He immensely regretted everything he had said to you in that argument, but he didn't know how to fix it. You and Daryl had been arguing a lot more since he started supervising over the Sanctuary. He didn't trust any of the former Saviours and he knew some of them had it out for him, so having you there with him made him scared. Scared that the Saviours would take their anger out on you. Scared that he couldn't protect you against all of them. He felt so scared for you.
Admittedly, having you there did make him feel better. To have your presence beside him and to be able to hold you at night while you talked about your day made this hellhole a lot better for him, but it also made him anxious. He didn't want any of the backlash meant for him to get you hurt. He couldn't watch get hurt. He'd never be able to forgive himself.
“Daryl?” Carol voiced, snapping him out of his thoughts. He looked over at her and frowned.
“She tell ya everythin'?” he asked, continuing when she nodded. “Then I dun' have anythin' to say.”
“You do!” she exclaimed in frustration. “Why are you treating her like that? She's your partner, Daryl! That woman would do anything for you!”
“Tha's wha' scares me!” he bit back loudly. When he saw Carol go quiet, he lowered his voice. “She has proven tha' she would do anythin' fer me by bein' here at this shit hole. I can see tha' bein' here is takin' a toll on her. And these assholes ain't makin' her life any easier. I jus' want her to be safe.”
“Daryl,” Carol started, putting a comforting hand on the archer's shoulder. “You know she can handle herself. And even if she couldn't, no place would ever be really safe. There are Saviours everywhere now. At Alexandria, Hilltop and the Kingdom. It doesn't matter whether she's here or there. If she's here, at least you'll be able to keep her safe.”
Daryl pondered over Carol's words. After a few minutes of silence, he finally spoke up. “I messed up, didn't I?”
“Big time,” Carol nodded, chuckling softly. “But it's okay. Just go talk to her, and I mean really talk to her. No arguments.”
Daryl nodded and got up, turning and heading back into the Sanctuary. He only had one goal in mind; find you and beg for your forgiveness if he had to.
“Go get her, tiger!” Carol laughed from behind him, pleased that she was able to get through to him. She just hoped that his stubbornness wouldn't mess it up.
—
“Hey. Ya got a moment to talk?”
You looked up from the papers you were reading, locking eyes with Daryl. You could see him fidgeting with his hands, his body language radiating nervousness.
You nodded at him. “Yeah.”
Daryl inhaled sharply and stepped forward. You watched him anxiously, not knowing what to expect. The longer he took to speak, the more your mind started to wander—did he do something wrong? Was he bit? Was he leaving you for someone else?
“'M sorry 'bout this mornin',” he finally said, taking you by surprise. “I shouldn't have said wha' I said. I know yer jus' tryin' to look out fer me and I appreciate it. I jus' got scared tha' somethin' would happen to ya if ya stayed here with me. Most of these assholes dun' exactly like me and will do anythin' to hurt me. I jus' dun' want them to hurt ya to get back at me.”
You stepped forward and embraced Daryl in a tight hug, catching him off guard. However, he hugged you back tightly in a couple of seconds, burying his face into your shoulder. He breathed in your clean scent and instantly relaxed, his body sagging slightly.
“You should've told me how you felt, Dar. It would've saved us so many arguments,” you whispered, sighing in relief.
Daryl scoffed lightheartedly. “I doubt tha'. We woulda jus' argued 'bout whether ya should stay here or not.”
“I'm not leaving,” you said with a sense of finality in your voice. “I know how much you hate it here, Daryl. That's why I decided to stay. I stayed so that you didn't have to feel alone in this place.”
Daryl pulled back from the hug to look at you, keeping you in his arms. His heart fluttered at your revelation, and he gave you a small smile. “Ya stayed fer me?”
You nodded. “Of course I did. I love you, Daryl. I'd do anything for you.”
Daryl ducked his head down to press his lips against yours, catching them in a sweet kiss. The kiss lasted for a couple of seconds before he pulled back, resting his forehead against yours. “I love ya more.”
“I love you the most,” you retorted playfully, giving him a teasing smile.
“Ain't possible,” he replied, scoffing lightly.
“Agree to disagree,” you said playfully.
Daryl rolled his eyes affectionately before kissing you again, this time more feverishly than before. It didn't take long for Daryl to push you back against the table, hoisting you up by your thighs to sit on it.
You giggled against his lips. “Eager much?”
“Shut up,” he mumbled before attacking your neck with kisses, nibbling on your sweet spot beneath your ear. You moaned quietly and leaned your head back, giving him more access to your neck.
However, the moment was short-lived. The crackling of static from the radio startled the two of you, Eugene's voice coming through.
“Daryl, Y/n, we need you down by the trucks pronto, ASAP.”
Daryl groaned and lowered his head to rest on your shoulder, eliciting a laugh from you. You gently pushed him away from you and jumped off the table, grabbing his hand and interlocking your fingers.
“Come on, they need us. We can finish this later.”
“Gonna hold ya to tha',” he responded, giving you a heated stare.
You smiled at him. “C'mon, pretty boy. Let's go.”

"Nothing?" You asked Daryl as he exited the small old, decaying building. He shook his head. "Nah. Ain't a drop of gas left in there." You ran your hands over your face; groaning. "Fuck."
You and Daryl had finally run out of gas entirely since days - or even weeks? And this had been the first gas station since miles...
You immediately felt Daryl's strong arms wrapping themselves around you. "We gonna find a way, I promise. Might try some old cars in that lil' village up ahead." You clung to him; nodding against his shoulder. "I know we will, it's just..." You swallowed hard. "We're so far from home, a-and... I miss our boys."
The archer pulled back from the hug; his eyes meeting yours. Guilt reflecting in the blue-grey irises. He chewed on his bottom lip. "'M sorry, sunshine. Tis my fault." You frowned; immediately cupping his stubbly cheeks. "Why would that be your fault?" You could see your man swallowing hard. "Shoulda never asked ya to accompany me. Should've let ya stay with our sons." Your expression softened at his words. "Daryl... Sweetie..." You started; pressing your forehead against his. "I would've come with you anyways. You'd have not even needed to ask me. Doing this; searching for your brother meant a lot to you - so it is important for me, too. This isn't your fault. We just have to find our way back home now." Reluctantly, Daryl nodded; accepting your 'statement'. "Yeah..." You gave him another soft smile, "Let's go." and pressed a sweet, gentle kiss on his lips.
You grabbed your backpack and slung it over your shoulders, while Daryl started to push his bike. You quickly followed; going on the other side to help him. The archer gave you a sweet look; silently thanking you. "I miss 'em too, ya know..." He says after quite a few minutes in silence. His words touched your heart. "We'll get back to them and the others. I promise."
Said and done. After Daryl's bike was on the truck's cargo area, together with you and Daryl, the man started the engine and drove down the road. You sat beside Daryl; leaned against his side with his arm wrapped loosely around your shoulders. The exhaustion from the past days and weeks crawled up on you; your bones heavy and aching. After walking day after day and trying to search for food and gas wasn't easy. Daryl felt the same. You could tell. You saw it on his face.
Just as Daryl wanted to answer something, the sound of an engine could be heard. There was a car approaching. You and Daryl exchanged a look; the car already pulling up behind you and him. You both stopped in your movements; subtly reaching for your weapons. Just in case...
The truck stopped. A man exited the vehicle; immediately lifting his hands in surrender. "Hey," he approached you slowly. "Need help, friends?" You and your husband exchanged another look; his eyes clouded with scepticism and mistrust. "Nah, we're good," Daryl answered; subtly rounding his bike and positioning himself close to you. Just in case...
"Where you two headed?" The stranger continued to question. To you, he didn't seem like a threat - for now, but Daryl clearly wasn't convinced. "We were headin' home," you answered this time. The man let out a small chuckle. "Home, huh? On a bike with no fuel?" "Why? Got some to spare?" Daryl shot back immediately. Another chuckle slipped past the stranger's lips. "Tha' depends," he started and pointed at Daryl's crossbow, which was attached to his bike. "You any good with that thing?" Before Daryl could answer, you stepped in front of your man; "Depends..." crossing your arms over your chest. "What you want us to do with it?" The strange man smiled at you, whereas Daryl was still on edge and quite tensed, but also trusted you in this. For you to make the right decision. "Walkers." "Walkers? Alright."
The stranger nodded and gestured at his old, rusty truck. "Load up the bike and we'll get goin'."
Closing your eyes for a long moment, you felt the soft breeze in your hair; thoughts wandering. "Hey... Ya alright?" Daryl's voice cut through the air then, causing you to reopen your eyes. "Yeah... Just tired... And thinking 'bout if I made the right decision... Trusting a stranger." "You'll never know tha', sunshine. We never did before." You nodded; fumbling nervously with your fingerless gloves. "I know, but... What do you think?" Daryl took a deep breath; pulling you closer. "It's a chance, right? We gotta give it a shot."
Then the strange man from earlier returned.
You drove quite a while until you reached your destination... An old gas station. The man exited the truck, while Daryl helped you down from the cargo area and unloading his bike. The archer's gaze immediately scanned his surroundings; looking out for possible threats. "Jus' grab a seat. We'll get started soon," the stranger announced as he walked towards the building. You and Daryl followed him; saw a lot of other men running around. Some of them were inside what looked like a steel cage; speaking a language which definitely wasn't English. You frowned and tried to listen closely. French. It sounded like French.
"C'mon," Daryl's gentle tug at your arm urged you to move on and follow him towards a bunch of old (car) seats; all lined up in a half-circle. Daryl took a seat - like the man told you; you sitting beside him. Four other men were already seated. Three of them older - probably in their early and mid fifties and one of them much younger. Probably not older than twenty. He held a what you assumed to be a picture in his hands; intensely looking at it. They were talking, but you couldn't exactly make out the words. Only that the group was mocking and teasing the young man.
Both, you and Daryl watched the scenes unfold; most likely thinking the same.
"Circle up! Come on, circle up, people!" He announced and everybody started to surround him; circling up. "Time is money! Come on! Let's go, let's go!" He waited until everybody's attention was fully on him, before he continued to speak. "Alright. Ground rules, fellas. Fighting will not be tolerated. Same goes with stealing or sexual deviancy of any kind. Keep your shit together." He paused and looked into the round. "No children will be accepted. Nor elderly or shorties. 5'4" is the cut off." "What do you want them for anyway?" Interrupted one of the older men, which sat on the seats a few meters beside you. "This is not your concern," answered the other man with grey hair, who stood right beside the stranger who found you. "One pint of ethanol is all you need to know."
A small discussion about the payment and some further information later, you and Daryl roamed the nearby woods for walkers. It was kinda a strange feeling to not kill them, but collect them like prisoners; lined up on a string. But neither you, nor Daryl cared. It was none of your business. All you wanted, was the promised gas. Yours and Daryl's clear advantage was that you made one hell of a team. After seventeen years of being a couple, you could work together blindly. Therefore, you 'hunted' almost twice as much walkers as the others. Well, the more the better.
Everybody was quite impressed as you brought the walkers back and handed them over. You and Daryl earned respectful glances, but also jealous ones.
After keeping a while an eye on Daryl and everything that happened around you, you decided it was time for a bit of fresh air.
Unfortunately was the amount of gas you got in return not enough and so it was soon decided that you were going to stay the night and collect some more walkers tomorrow.
"Go, get some sleep," you said to Daryl; nodding at one of the cots. "I'll keep watch. I don't trust all these people." The archer nodded, "Yeah, me neither..." and reached for your hand. "'R ya sure 'bout keepin' watch first? I know you're exhausted, sunshine, 'n I-" You shook your head and quickly interrupted him. "You're exhausted, too, sweetie. I'll be fine. Now get some sleep." Daryl chew on his bottom lip; just looking at you for several moments, before he nodded again. "Aight. Wake me if something's wrong." "'Course." He gave your hand a squeeze and let go; making his way to the cot.
It was cold. The starry and clear night sky above you. As you walked outside, you saw the group of three men from earlier sitting around a campfire; chatting and drinking. You only gave the a quick glance, before you turned to walk into the other direction. You came to stand beside an old pick-up and sat down on the cargo area; legs dangling in the air. Your gaze was directed into the sky; watching the stars shine and twinkle. You took a deep breath; thoughts wandering to Teddy and Marlo. You thoroughly hoped that they were okay. That everything at home was okay. You missed them terribly. Hence, you missed everybody terribly... You reminisced for quite a while; just listening to the crickets chirping their songs and the crackling of the fire - until your peace got disturbed...
"Hey, missy!" A voice called suddenly out to you; causing your head to snap into the direction of its origin. It was one of the older men... "What do you want?" You asked rather coldly. He didn't seem very kind. None of them did. He gave you a slimy grin. "Haven't seen such a beautiful creature in quite a long time." You frowned and sniffed. "I ask again. What do you want?" The man laughed. "If it weren't for all these prying eyes around us, I'd take you like a bitch in heat."
You were completely caught off guard by his straightforwardness. You blinked and suppressed the urge to gag at his words. "Excuse me?" You blurted out; still in disbelief. He chuckled and gave you a not very subtle once over. "You heard me, missy. Someone like you needs to be taken care of." You needed a moment to recover; certainly didn't see that coming.
Once you did, you felt the disgust and even slight anger course through your veins. You were a grown woman - not a sex object, neither a fuck toy. You stood up from where you sat and gave the man, who was still looking at you with lustful eyes, a dark, warning glare. "I'd rather not do that, if I were you," you spoke in a hushed, threatening voice. "In case you haven't noticed... I am married - and he takes perfect care of me. No need to worry. Therefore, I suggest you keep it in your pants and don't say something like that again. You'll regret it, believe me. My husband won't be so nice to you like I am now, so... Consider this as a warning," you literally snarled.
No fighting.
The man with grey hair and beard laughed; adjusting the baseball cap on his head. "I wouldn't be so sure of that, missy. The way I see it should be your 'husband' very careful in what he does... Or do I have to remind you of the rules?"
A deep frown formed on your forehead as his words echoed in your mind; the scenes from earlier unfolding in your memory and played in front of your eyes like a movie...
The man saw your reaction, of course and laughed again. "A little fun will no one notice, but a bloody nose..." He stated and gave you a wink, before returning to his friends at the campfire. You swallowed hard; troubled by what just happened and how you actually lost the verbal fight. It gave you a very uneasy feeling. Sure, you could fight and defend yourself. That wasn't the problem. The problem was that you'd have to defend yourself and most likely nobody beside Daryl would believe you what the man tried to do. And not knowing the consequences of breaking the rules wasn't exactly a benefit either... You also couldn't tell Daryl what happened. Knowing your husband like an open book, he would probably straight up lose his temper and beat the shit out of that man; his hot-headedness breaking through.
You just hoped the man wouldn't actually act on his threat.
The feeling of not being safe anymore joined the uneasiness and caused you to take the only way out you could think of...
You made your way back into the large - what you assumed what once was a workshop and headed straight for the cot your husband slept in. You squashed yourself on the small makeshift bed; cuddling against Daryl - who instinctively wrapped his arms around you with a soft grunt and held you close against his body. "Everythin' a'right, sunshine?" He mumbled; more asleep than awake. You nodded. "All good, sweetie. Keep on sleeping." You hated to lie to him, but what other choice did you have?
You immediately felt the uneasiness creep up on you again.
The next morning approached faster than you thought. Even when Daryl kept watch, you didn't get much sleep; always feeling watched. At some point you gave up and just decided to get up. The sun had barely risen, as you made your way out of the huge hall; looking for the archer. The yard was bustling with people already. A lot of them headed out to catch more walkers; others already came back with a bunch.
You found your man kneeling beside his bike; apparently checking on something. A smile grazed your lips as you approached him. "Good morning," you announced your presence; placing your hands on his broad shoulders. Daryl looked over his shoulder, before standing up. "Mornin', sunshine. Slept good?"
"No, not really." Daryl shook a few strands of chestnut brown hair out of his face; frowning. "Why? Everythin' a'right?" You felt his hand reaching for yours.
You swallowed hard and nodded. "Yeah, 's just..." As if on command, a loud voice cut through the air. "Hey, Juno! Move yer ass over here! The sexy chick arose from her sleeping beauty slumber." It was a man from the trio.
You gritted your teeth; cursing internally. Fuck.
Before you or Daryl could say something, Juno appeared and threw you another slimy grin. "Thought about my offer for a quick fuck?" Juno boldly said; ignoring Daryl entirely. He didn't give a flying fuck that your husband stood right beside you. And somehow, you had the feeling he did it on purpose... As if he wanted to see Daryl lose his shit and break the rules. Your raging thoughts got interrupted by the loud snarl coming undoubtedly from your man. "Wha' did ya just say, huh?" Alone by the sound of his voice, you could tell that he was already very tensed. "I said..." Juno started; taking a step closer. "I wanna screw your girl." Daryl's brain short-circuited; his protective instinct taking over. "You say tha' again and I'll cut yer fuckin' balls off!" The archer growled and took quick steps towards Juno. Luckily, you reacted fast and literally jumped in front of your husband, before he could reach the older man. "Daryl, stop!" Placing your palms on his heaving chest, you held him back. "Please! If you punch him now, you'll get in trouble!"
That one sentence was the straw that broke the camel's back.
Daryl panted with rage. "I don care! He wants ta touch what's mine and I ain't havin' tha'!" You shook your head; frantically trying to calm him down, all the while Juno watched with a dirty smile on his face.
"He's not worth it, sweetie! Please! I-I don't want you to get in trouble! God knows what they'll do to you, so please..." The archer took another few deep breaths; gazing deeply in your eyes. But then he nodded - much to your sheer relief, "Aight." and directed his gaze on Juno; immediately moving to shield you with his body. "If ya touch 'er- No... If ya only look at 'er or say something like tha' again, I'll kill ya. I ain't lettin' you touch my wife. We clear?" Juno laughed. "Calm down, man. 'M just sayin'..." Daryl gave him a death glare and turned to walk away, in order to calm his raging nerves down. You were relieved; thinking that was it - but you underestimated Juno.
"Though, I bet it feels great havin' such a beauty wrapped 'round yerself."
Then he nodded at your husband. "Rule is rule. Take him away." And on Jones' command, the men who held Daryl in a death grip started to drag him away. Shock and fear struck your body like lightning; eyes widening. "No! Please, no! No!" You ran after them; trying to get to Daryl - who gave you a worried, sad and distraught gaze, but they easily shook you off. You were strong, but not strong enough to fight against five men alone.
Before you could even react had Daryl turned around, almost sprinted to the older man - and punched him right in the face. You could only witness in sheer horror, as Daryl knocked Juno to the ground; ready to beat the shit out of him. But before he could throw his bulky frame on the skinnier man came other men rushing towards them; pulling Daryl harshly away from Juno. Only seconds later appeared the man who picked you and Daryl off the road - the leader as you learned, Jones.
"What the hell is going on here?!" Juno lifted himself off the ground and wiped some blood off his nose. "That son of a bitch attacked me!" He immediately defended himself; pointing accusingly at Daryl. Jones turned to face your man; expression darkening. "What did I tell ya 'bout the rules? No fighting." That was the moment you woke from your state of shock. "That's a lie, Jones! Juno harassed me! Daryl only wanted to defend me! Please, you have to believe me!" The leader looked from you to Juno and back. A few moments of silence passed, in which the man was seemingly contemplating of what to do.
Daryl knew that fighting against Jones' orders would only cause more damage. Therefore he just accepted his fate; knowing that at least you were safe. Hopefully. He'd find his way back to you. He always did.
"Please! Don't! Don't take him away from me!" You were still fighting; watching with tears in your eyes how they handcuffed Daryl and loaded him in a van. It felt like a déjà-vu. All the times you had to watch somebody taking the man you loved away from you. And every time you were powerless.
Not anymore.
"Take me with you! Wherever you take him... I'm going, too. I won't leave my husband." You almost pleaded Jones'; standing in front of him with your hands lifted in surrender. The man gave you an incredulous look; clearly not wanting to do that. After all, you were innocent. You played by the rules. "Please..."
Jones took a deep breath, but nodded. "Load 'er up."
And they did.
Your breath was laboured. Fingers twitching nervously; hands cuffed behind your back. You didn't know where the vehicle was taking you. Your vision was sorely afflicted - thanks to the sack which had been draped over your head. All you knew was that you were in a different van than Daryl. After what felt like an eternity, the van finally stopped in his motion and no minute later got the doors ripped open. There were voices shouting something - but again you didn't understand them. French.
You had no time to dwell on the questions in your head, since you got rather harshly pulled to your feet and out of the vehicle. "Bouge ton cal! Allons, allons, allons!" ("Move your ass! Let's go, let's go, let's go!") You heard another male voice shout, before you got pushed forward; urged on to walk.
Turning left and right, you were brought further into the heart of the ship; passing by two cages, which were installed in the belly of the ship and also filled to the brim with walkers. But it were the signs which gave you chills... 'Fast' and 'Feed'. You swallowed hard.
After a few minutes of getting led to only God knows where, the sack got removed from your head - and what you then saw caused your eyes to almost pop out of your head. You were on a ship. On a fucking ship! And not just a little fisherman's boat - nu.uh! It looked like a former freighter!
You got once again dragged along by a strange man. Looking around anxiously, you searched for Daryl, but you couldn't see him. What you did saw, though, were dozens of cargo container. Some of them were open and revealed the horror inside. Labs and walkers. They were experimenting with walkers?! This realisation didn't make you feel better. Not in the slightest...
What did you and Daryl get yourselves into?
You could've cried in sheer relief.
You reached a cargo container with a steel wire door, which got opened for you to be thrown inside. The force of the shove was so strong, that you lost balance and fell to your knees; hitting the ground with a painful huff. The cage door shut closed and you heard a key turning in a lock.
"Y/N?" The gruff voice of your husband urged to your ears then. You looked up and saw him standing above you; frowning, shocked and with fresh blood dribbling from his lip.
Your words and gesture melted his heart; caused his expression to change again. "Sunshine..." You smiled up at him; gazing deeply into his beautiful eyes. The both of you were about to lean in for a kiss - despite the blood, of course, when your short moment of intimacy got harshly interrupted by a toe curling scream. You quickly let go of Daryl and stormed to the steel wire door; looking what was happening. It was already pitch black outside, but the ship you were on was brightly lid with flood lamps. Therefore, you had to witness with horror, how a man got thrown into one of the two walker pits. Your eyes widened in realisation. Feed.
"Daryl!" You panted and threw yourself immediately in his arms. He caught you with a grunt and held you close for a few moments, before he released you again. The frown on his face got replaced by worry, fear and frustration. "Whatcha doin' here?!" You swallowed hard; suppressing the tears. "I-I didn't want to lose you again. I've lost you too many times... And all the times you got taken away from me, I couldn't do something about it. This time I could."
Daryl sighed frustrated. "Goddammit, woman! Ya would've been safe there! Now you ain't - and I don know if 'm able to protect ya!" You quickly shook your head and cupped his cheeks in your hands. "I wouldn't have been safe there, sweetie... I'm only safe with you."
"O-Oh my gosh..." You felt Daryl's presence behind you; his arms wrapping around your middle and securing your back against his chest. A reassuring gesture. "I-Is this... going to happen to us, too?" Daryl didn't answer for a moment. "Daryl?" You turned your head to face him; seeing how he chew on his bottom lip. "Guess so, yeah..." He finally answered then; causing nervousness to rise within you once more. You took a deep breath and tried to keep a cool head. This wasn't the first hairy situation you two found yourselves in, so...
"Okay... How are we going to escape this hell?" A small smirk tugged at the corners of the archer's lips. That's my girl, he thought. "Well..."
You looked at him with wide eyes; shocked. "Wha'? That... That's your plan?" He nodded; taking your hand and giving it a squeeze. "You need ta trust me on tis, sunshine. Can ya do tha'?" You swallowed hard. "Daryl... You know I trust you blindly, but... This is risky... W-What if it goes wrong a-and you-" You didn't dare to voice your thoughts. "It ain't goin' wrong, I promise." You took another moment to dwell on Daryl's plan, but then nodded. "Alright. Let's do it." Daryl gave you a nod and reopened the wound on his lip; making it bleed again. A short painful hiss left his lips; causing you to grimace. You hated to see him in pain. "Daryl..." "'S alright," he reassured you immediately and proceeded to lay on the cold, hard ground. "Do it."
You took a deep breath, gave him a last look and turned to grip the steel wire door. "Hey! Hey!" You screamed; rattling and banging your fist against the steel. "Hey! You gotta help me! This bastard is throwing up blood! If he dies, he's gonna turn in here!" You even used your feet to make a racket. "Hey! You hear me! I need help!"
After a few minutes came finally two men - strangers to you, and went to turn the key in the lock. "Finally! Took you long enough! He could've died by now!" The man who unlocked the lock gave you a death glare, opened the door and rather harshly shoved you aside. "Outta the way!" You stumbled backwards; back hitting the wall. "Hey!"
The other man followed; both of them taking a critical look at Daryl, who - as if on command, spit out some blood. Kudos to his hurt lip. The men exchanged a look and gave him a hard kick in the ribs, before they harshly gripped him by his arms and dragged him out of the container; locking the door behind them again. You immediately ran back up to the door and watched; witnessing how Daryl got taken away. Your job was done. The acting over.
You could feel your heart beating in your throat; hoping, praying that this would go well...
He quickly made his way to you and hastily opened the steel wire door.
Daryl was brought to the 'Feed' pit with walkers. He got thrown on his knees on the edge; hungry walkers reaching for him. His breath was laboured; adrenaline flooding his body. The two men stood left and right beside him; hands clasping his shoulders and holding him up.
The archer knew that he had to act now - or never. So, he took a deep breath and rammed his elbow in the one man's stomach and punched the other one in the face. After shoving one in the pit and sending a bullet through the man's head who opened the pit, he also took the third one out - who was rudely wearing his vest, like you noticed.
You saw your husband slipping inside his beloved angel-winged vest, stealing the keys and opening the doors of all the cargo containers on his way back to you; letting out all the walkers - just in time. Loud voices already could be heard alongside gunshots. Daryl's actions didn't stay unnoticed, of course.
Daryl tried to understand how to actually get the lifeboat in the water, while you were on watch. Gunfire, screams and familiar snarls echoed from everywhere. The deck below you was a battlefield. For now, you'd be safe. That's what you thought. But then fell your gaze on a walker, which was suddenly running around a corner and slamming against the wall. Your eyes widened. Running. A running walker. "Uhh, Daryl?" You addressed your husband; eyes fixated on the walker. "Jus' a few more minutes. Almost got it." You watched with horror, as the walker took a few steps back and looked up at you; right in your eyes and flashing his rotting teeth at you. "S-Sweetie..." "Almost."
"You did it! Thank god!" You almost cried; throwing yourself in his arms. Daryl reciprocated your hug, "'Course, sunshine. Told ya." but not for long. "C'mon. We gotta go. We gotta get off this thing, c'mon," he said and let go of you; taking your hand and dragging you after him.
You both ran; leaving the chaos Daryl had caused behind and headed for the little lifeboat your husband had spotted as he was brought on board. You followed him wordlessly; panting, turning corners left and right and climbing steps. You were quite aware that your time was ticking. These people weren't stupid and knew who caused this. No doubt that they'd search for you at some point - but unfortunately, something else found you first...
Either you were going mad, or you truly watched the rotting corpse smile spitefully at you - and then started to climb the steps. Fast.
Your eyes widened even more - if that was possible; heart speeding up and pumping adrenaline through your veins. "Daryl!" You screamed now, and he finally turned his head; in time to watch the walker climb the last steps. You both had no weapons. No guns, no knives and certainly not his crossbow - or to say it straight... You were fucked.
"Can ya somehow distract him?" You swallowed hard; not knowing if that was going to work. "I-I'll try, but I have the feeling that this one is quite sma- Oh my god!" You couldn't even finish your sentence, before the walker started to run straight at you. Your heart almost leaped out of your chest as you focused to dodge it in the right moment. Luckily, you did and it crashed full force against one of the steel posts - and accidentally triggered the mechanism to let the lifeboat to water.
You looked up; eyes meeting Daryl's. "We gotta jump, Y/N!" You nodded at him. "Go!" Your husband scoffed loudly. "Hell nah! 'M not leavin' ya alone with this thing. You go first!"
You shook your head. "'M not leaving you with this walker either!" "Damnit, sunshine! We ain't havin' time to discuss this! Jump. Now!"
You swallowed hard, but gave in; running past the walker. Without thinking, you jumped over the railing; hoping to land not too painful. Luckily, you didn't. You landed in the water, beside the lifeboat and quickly climbed inside. Then your gaze immediately shot up; hoping to see Daryl. "Daryl!" You called out; worried sick that he wasn't able to escape the walker. Tears streamed already down your face, as you wanted to call out for him again - but then you witnessed him jumping over the railing as well and diving into the water. You quickly moved and reached for him; helping him inside the lifeboat.
He was breathing heavily; almost panting. "Are you okay?!" You immediately asked in a panicky voice; one hand tugging back loose, dripping wet curls from his face and the other resting on his heaving chest. Daryl saw your worry and nodded; placing a reassuring hand on your hip. "'M fine, sunshine. You good, too?" You nodded as well. "Y-Yeah."
Then Daryl shifted; moved to get the oars. "We have ta get away from-" Before he could finish his sentence, shattered a loud explosion the water. Daryl's eyes were glued at the fire and smoke for a moment, but then he started to navigate the lifeboat away from the ship. In safe distance, you watched how the flames on deck climbed higher. Wordlessly, Daryl took you in his arms; the both of you just happy that you were alive.
"Let's go back home, eh?" You nodded. Home. The only place you desperately wanted to be now. Reunited with your children.

upd. if you saw that unfinished paragraph you didn’t see anything, move along 👁️👁️
“Kyle, I think…I think I’m bitten.” was all it took to shatter him into millions of tiny pieces. Just like that. Nothing mattered anymore, even that you promised each other to stay alive, no matter what. In the back of his mind, he knew all those promises muttered into his lips while he feverishly kissed you were empty, shallow attempts to silence his mind, to make him sleep in peace, thinking you’ll be there no matter what. And of course, he didn’t doubt your words even for a split second.
Kyle knew he was a fool to believe that. To think the two of you were inseparable. In a world like this, how could one even think of something staying forever untouched by decay that spread far beyond the horizon? Rot overtook everything, and if something was still untouched by it, soon enough that wither would find a way to slither inside, spoiling it forever. It would even find its way into people’s minds, ruining humanity in a manner no physical disease could ever hope to damage them. Kyle and you have seen it happen far too many times, and his only wish was for you to meet your end together, peacefully. But now…he only wished he had the strength to go on, he truly did.
Because you needed him. Now more than ever.
And so, he kept trying. If he didn’t then both of you would be done for. You didn’t deserve that, not when all he wanted was for you to be safe and well, not caring much about himself. You were the one who saved him when all the shit went down, now it was time to return the favor. So, he pushed himself through every agonizingly slow day. But he was starting to feel the already feeble remains of his strength slipping away from him. He wouldn’t give up, however. Never. Not when your life depended on it.
That’s why while you were bedridden, weakness setting in your body as a permanent, bitter resident, Kyle was scouring the old town for fever and cold medicine, trying to be as quiet as possible, not to attract any undead. He had a gun, but he did not use it – too loud and bullets were a luxury, not a commodity. Kyle only had one bullet, following the advice of a nice older man with mutton chops he remembered meeting in one of the survivor camps a long time ago.
“Always save the last bullet for yourself or your loved ones. You never know who’ll need it more”
Methods aside, recent days were spent wandering abandoned houses in attempts to find at least some food for the two of you. Only when the darkness started to settle, Kyle would head back, throwing his backpack over the fence and barely managing to climb it, sore muscles and empty stomach sending jolts of pain all through his body. Even then, he was restless, sitting by your side, wiping your forehead of sweat, and taking your temperature. Your breathing was strained, chest rising and falling under thin blankets that barely kept you warm. And each time he looked at you for more than a minute at a time he felt his insides twisting in pain, eyes getting white-hot with tears, and throat closing, barely letting him take a short breath just so he doesn’t suffocate in his misery.
And then the sun rises, warm rays painting the room in a variety of colors, falling over your face, morning birds wake up Kyle from his nightmare-filled sleep. He jolts awake from the dreams, filled with the image of you, dying in agony over and over, crying out for help, begging him to do something. You get torn apart, your intestines spilling out on the damp floor, pulled out by a crowd of the undead who devour you with vigorous hunger, biting into your flesh until he can’t recognize your face from the bloody and mangled pulp that rotting hands and jagged teeth turn you into. Your raw, pained screams haunt him even when he’s awake, observing you lose your life all over again. Much slower and in a much more painful way.
The sun rises. And so does Kyle. Your desperate pleas that drag from the dream are muffled as soon as he sees you sleeping. Forgetting, that you were getting weaker with each day that passed. Choosing to bask in your tranquil glow, in the way your eyelashes fluttered while you slept, choosing to neglect the worry clawing on the back of his mind just to stay like this with you for a little longer. Kyle knew he couldn’t delay the inevitable, but he still decided to make the best out of the short amount of time he had left with you. Hoping that some miracle would happen and you wouldn’t succumb to the decay. That the bite would turn out to be a bad dream you both had on the same night, waking up from it in cold sweat, searching for the comfort of each other’s embrace, while letting out relieved sighs, realizing that you’re safe.
That would be great, wouldn’t it?
Instead, he shakes you awake with a gentle hand, almost not wanting to wake you up from your slumber. You blink up at him, looking even more tired than before you went to sleep. Circles under your eyes are even darker than the previous night. And Kyle is in pain once again. He wants to help you up, throwing your arm over his shoulder, to lead you through the long, silent halls of the school where you were staying, full of dust and damp, moldy smell, to have breakfast together. Like good old times. But he sees that in your eyes, you’re too weak to pull your weight up and stand up. So, he brings the heated-up cans of beans here, putting one on a stool in front of you, helping you to sit up before he even thinks of touching his food.
“Kyle, that’s twice what I usually eat.” You mutter, watery eyes rising to him, sitting on the mattress in front of you with his legs crossed. He raises his eyebrow and his head shifts to the side in a questioning motion.
“Well, you have to eat plenty to recover.” He said, matter-of-factly. You stay silent, unwilling to have that debate right now. You barely managed to stay awake as it is. Let him think that you’ll get better, despite everything you saw together. Despite every rule that you’ve discovered. Let him live in the illusion, in the waking dream that all will be well if he tries hard enough. “Well, what are you waiting for? It’s growing cold”
You didn’t realize that you’d been drilling the can of steaming beans in front of you with your glassy gaze for the past several minutes, submerged in your thoughts deep enough to suffocate. You pick up the spoon with a weak, shaky motion. Then your eyes fall on the can. Somehow, you knew that you wouldn’t be able to pick it up. Failing at something so simple…you knew it’d hurt your pride even more. So, you opted to push the tin closer to the edge of the stool.
Kyle glanced over at you, beads of sweat glistening on your forehead. He sensed the fatigue from you, lacing the air that surrounded you and leaving dark, oily traces over anything your fingers lingered on. You breathed sickness. Your hands, which were able to easily bash an undead’s head on the wall just several days ago, now could barely hold a spoon steady without it trembling and threatening to fall, spilling all the contents over the moth-eaten blanket. He felt his heart squeeze in pain, and he swore that something shattered inside of him once again.
“Let me help you.” Although it sounded like an offer, Kyle didn’t look like he was going to let you debate it, shuffling closer to you, taking the spoon from your hand in a swift motion. You purse your lips, knowing that protesting that would be stupid. If it wasn’t for how weak and sick you were, and for a lot of other circumstances, it would be a cutesy moment. Your dear spoon-feeding you something? Please, one’s teeth would rot from how sweet it is. But now it was just another deep, bleeding gash on your pride. Kyle blows on the food, cooling it off and promptly moving it towards your mouth with his hand cupped just under the spoon. You obediently clamp your lips around the spoon. “There we go.” He gives you a small smile, but you see the melancholy in his eyes when Kyle wipes the corner of your mouth with his thumb. He means well, yet you can’t help but feel like you’re a burden to him.
You loathed being like this. Being this weak. Fragile. You were able to fend for yourself, you had resilience and strength, but now you were just rendered useless, only dragging Kyle down, depriving him of the freedom to go on.
He’ll die if he continues like this.
You knew it. He was exhausted, and you’ve been like this for a little over a week. Survival wasn’t about skill anymore, it was about luck. You lost yours already, the moment rotten, jagged teeth sunk into the flesh of your forearm like it was butter, drawing the first blood. But Kyle, he…sooner or later he will lose his luck too. And it was apparent that it was coming sooner than you anticipated. A bullet he won’t be able to dodge. An infected scratch. An undead that he simply didn’t notice because of how tired he is. A bear trap in the vicinity of someone’s camp. Something will get to Kyle. Or someone. And thankfully, you won’t be here to witness it. Hopefully.
“What are you doing? Where are we going?” You barely managed to mutter out, clinging to him with all the strength you had, which, to be fair, wasn’t a lot. He could feel the cold of your hands clasped around his neck even through several layers of his clothes. Kyle’s hands carefully held you under your thighs as he went up the stairs, not showing any signs of exertion except for beads of sweat on his temples.
“Just thought we might watch the sunrise together, like good old days” You could hear the soft smile that tugged on his mouth when he said that. Another reminder for you that he probably loathed the way you lived right now and would prefer to go back to the way things were. With you not being his…burden.
You didn’t need to be reminded of this. Of the “good old days”. Finding that abandoned farm, deep in the buttcrack of the countryside was what saved the both of you when the world started going to shit. You and Kyle met each other years prior, but it didn’t matter anymore. Not when everything as you knew it was gone.
Hiding there gave you a sense of normalcy you missed so much, after having to live for months, years like an animal. You didn’t feel like the world as you knew it was falling apart beyond that fence with cracked white paint. Deserted fields full of dead crops, empty house with a bunch of stuff forgotten or thrown around messily - it was obvious the owners wouldn’t come back any time soon. Snooping around gave you too much information - you couldn’t help but feel a bitter burn on the back of your throat when you picked up a framed family photo from the fireplace, five tan faces staring back at you with perpetual smiles etched into the glossy paper.
You didn’t have the gall to throw away or burn everything personal the previous family left behind. Photo albums, children's clothes and toys, diplomas, drawings, letters, posters, and even something as small as shopping lists on the fridge, five life stories were packed into several boxes, taped and put in the attic. Kyle didn’t understand your wish to preserve something that wasn’t even yours, but he didn’t interfere, choosing to give you a hand instead. If it helped you to sleep in someone else’s bed calmer, replacing the presumably dead strangers, he was willing to indulge you.
Despite how far away from the civilization this farm was, seeing an undead roaming around wasn’t a very rare occurrence, but at least you could handle the occasional walking corpses. You wake up, you go on patrol. You finish patrol, and you meet the sunrise with Kyle by your side, wrapping his arm around your shoulders, with a blanket thrown over the both of you, sitting on the front porch, right on the creaking stairs. These fleeting moments felt so right. Like home.
Eventually, you had to continue moving. Started to run short on supplies ever since then. Running into all sorts of different people, relying on strangers, leading a nomad way of life. It wasn’t unfulfilling, since you only needed the company of each other to keep it together. In a variety of groups that you’ve been through it was always a known fact that you’ll stick by each other before someone else.
All he needed was your loving hug when you came back from a supply run. A soft kiss that you would put on that scar right on his cheek. Or to hold your hand under the table when you sat down to eat with whatever group you were with this week, like your love for each other was a secret meant only for the two of you. All you needed was his warmth, his comfort, his mere presence, that would light up your shitty day like a damn light beam. He managed to take your breath away each time he looked at you with such gentleness and softness that sometimes you didn’t think you deserved it. You’ve found the world in each other. A purpose.
So what is Kyle going to do when you’re gone?
The morbid thought suddenly crosses your mind, while the man carefully sits you down on a worn lawn chair with a soft grunt, plopping down on the ground by your side, warm palm reassuringly resting on your thigh. Bringing you down to earth. Gusts of frosty wind brush through your hair, nipping at your cheeks, nose, and ears. You missed the outside, despite it being quite cold and unwelcoming this time of the year.
“I think the herd's close. See that dust?” Kyle taps you lightly on your leg and points towards the horizon. And true to his words, there is a fine dark line separating the sky, burning up in a mix of reds and yellows, from the earth. “They’re moving weird.”
“What does that mean?” you croak at Kyle, not able to peel your eyes from that sheet of gray, bunched-up dust that sat on the edge of the horizon like a shadow.
“Means if we’re lucky they’ll pass the school.” Kyle mutters, trying to reassure you, giving your thigh a gentle squeeze.
And then it clicks.
When he came back from the supply run you were nowhere to be found in the wind-torn building. There were no traces of you in the old cafeteria on the first floor where the two of you would heat up the canned food that your taste buds got used to over the long months the end of the world stretched over. Before you got bit.
He felt his heart sink to his stomach, so nauseous from the mere thought of something happening to you. Kyle fought himself not to double over, press his forehead against the wall and throw up everything you two had for breakfast until he feels the acidic burn on his tongue and cries his damn eyes out from the pain. You knew that the herd was getting closer, why did you have to disappear right now? You two were supposed to wait it out together, by each other’s side. What were you doing, and more importantly, what were you thinking? Nothing made sense. Nothing at all.
Kyle felt the wall with an awkward, stiff motion of his hand, before putting his weight on it and sliding down, he felt like his legs could not hold him anymore. You barely had the strength to sit upright, where would you go in your condition?
The only place he could think of that was close enough for you to get to was the motor inn down the street. Of course.
The herd was already here. Kyle had no time to spare, he needed to act now, to get you and run away as fast as possible. He remembered there was a car in that old motor inn, so that could be your getaway plan, sure thing he could figure something out…and to get there…He can use that old trick that another group of survivors taught you two. “If you smell like them, they won’t notice you, simple as that. Just make sure not to bump into anyone, or they’ll get real friendly with you.” Of course. It was that easy. You never resorted to that trick, preferring to avoid or dispose of the undead on sight. But desperate times call for desperate measures.
Kyle cringed at that sinking feeling in his stomach, but not at the thought of having to walk through the herd and probably be eaten alive, no. The possibility of you not being in that motor inn was what made that hollow pit inside of him grow. The fact that he might never see you again. Or that he would find you already gone.
He moves with calculated precision. Catch the undead’s attention, yellowish whites are dull under the daylight. Let it get close enough, it groans with each movement, joints snapping and clicking. Make the undead lose its balance, kick it in the knee, and the rotting leg almost falls off under the force that Kyle unintentionally applies. Destroy the brain, put a hunting knife right to the forehead, and let it thud to the ground, finally at rest. He’s thoughtlessly going through the motions, every step ingrained into his consciousness, almost like second nature to him. Rips through the stomach of the undead, black, resinous blood oozing out. Sinks his hands in the intestines, they smell so strong Kyle tears up and gags, hands shuffling around clothes caked with dirt and grime, swiping putrid, nasty mass all over himself. But it’s nothing. It’s alright. It will be worth it when he finds you.
After that, everything he remembers is under a thick blanket of haze, accompanied by the smell. You never get used to it. He feels nauseous, his insides twisting in worry, gnawing and biting at his heart like a terrified, desperate dog. His eyes grasp onto anything, but all Kyle sees is the sea of rotting flesh all around him, groans and moans of the undead so echoing in his ears loud all he wants is to tumble to the ground and end it all. He barely breathes with how tight his chest is squeezing his heart, it feels like in a split moment his insides will collapse onto themselves, capturing him in this meat cage. He has to remind himself that he’s not doing it for himself, he’s doing it for you, only for you. Kyle has to let his thoughts travel to your voice, to the way your nose scrunched when you laughed, to the frown between your brows when you slept in his arms just so he doesn’t go mad. Stares from decomposing, milky white eyes with yellows, blues, and reds here and there felt like stabs right through him, each could be the last if he gave himself away.
He could be grabbed by any of the half-rotten hands with sickly yellowish bones sticking out like spears of the cavemen, bitten, dragged away, or devoured. But he pressed on through the seemingly endless crowd of the undead. He would be lying if he said it didn’t affect him. That abandoned motor inn was like a beacon right now, but his imagination still ran wild, his hope growing more and more dim with each minute spent away from you. He didn’t feel like any hero. Kyle was scared. Mostly for you, but he could feel the tremble in his knees at the mere thought of any undead in the crowd recognizing him as an impostor. If that happens, he won’t be able to mutter even a single word. Rotten fingers will dig into his flesh, tearing it apart and Kyle will meet his end like this, on the damp ground, abandoned and scared out of his damn mind.
When Kyle pressed himself against the closed door of the motor inn, he finally could breathe in again. It wasn’t the time for a break, however. He still needed to find you. He wanders through the dusty, ransacked rooms in a daze, fixated on finding any traces you left, noticing the old rusty car in passing. The getaway plan. If the two of you are lucky enough. Footprints in the dust. They look new, and similar to the ones on the soles of your old boots. He follows. Your thin blanket lies forgotten on the stairs. Kyle practically flies up to the second floor, picking up the blanket, while he’s at it. More footprints in the dust, door to some old office is left ajar.
First, you felt the smell. Then you heard him cry out your name in surprise. And then you finally saw Kyle. He’s a blur of red, black, and brown. Covered head to toe with blood, guts, rotting flesh, and dirt, you presume. A sad, heartbreaking sight. Kyle, however, doesn’t mind it and immediately runs towards you, falling on the floor with a loud thud, and you’re sure he might’ve scraped his knees with how hard he landed. His arms cage you in a tight hug and you hear him let out a shaky exhale. Tears start to sting your eyes when you feel him pressing your head into his shoulder, stroking you with a gentle motion. You weren’t sure if he was trying to comfort you or reassure himself that you’re real, and not a fragment of his imagination. Regardless, you manage to reciprocate the hug, raising one of your arms and wrapping it around his back.
All of these days you saved up your energy for the last push. You needed to get away from him. You couldn’t trust yourself to remain near Kyle anymore. Any moment you could turn. You felt it in the way your bones ached with every gust of wind, how your blood boiled under your veins and your vision turned even more blurry. And in that case, you’d be a threat to Kyle, possibly getting him at his most vulnerable. It didn’t matter that you’d be long gone by then, you would still never forgive yourself if there was any possibility of it happening. Because, deep down you knew. No matter how skilled and ruthless Kyle was with handling the undead…he didn’t have it in him to bash your head in. So, you only had one choice to ensure his safety.
Yet he finds you. Here. You could feel your cheeks burn from being so angry at him, for his lack of acceptance that you were on the brink, and all it would take for you right now to fall into the abyss would be a light gust of wind or a slight shove. But you couldn’t blame him. You thought a lot about what you would do if the roles were reversed. The scenario brewed in your mind, haunting those short hours you were awake and trapping you in restless dreams.
You would want to live in illusion too.
“There you are.” You could practically feel something inside of you crack when you catch his smile beaming at you. Kyle just went to hell and back to get to you. And he still finds it in himself to smile at you, wrapping the blanket around your shoulders with hurried, but soothing movements. You were so weakened by the bite that you couldn’t even find any strength to go down the stairs and get the blanket when you dropped it. Humiliating. “Come on, we have to go, now, we can’t stay here.” He tries to scoop you up in a warm hug again, but you dig your heels into the ground. “Are you alright? Are you hurt?” he looks at you again, trying to catch what is wrong,
“No.” Kyle looks you over, eyes open wide, expression of confusion and sadness on his face. Of course, he doesn’t understand.
“You don’t…have anything on you. Then how, how did you even…” You didn’t have any grime on you at all, looking like you just walked through the herd of the undead without any preparation. But then his eyes trail lower and he sees it. Your left hand, cuffed to the rusty radiator. Suddenly the wave of terror cuts through him, like a fine, thin string through a block of fresh clay.
You came here to die.
“They stop paying attention to you once you’re far along enough. So…I guess that’s it.” He hated you for saying that. God, he hated you so much, he wanted to cling onto your body and suffocate you, arms wrapped around you in weak, pathetic attempts to shield you from any harm. “I…I don’t have any time left.” Kyle felt like he got punched in the gut. Air squeezed out of his lungs, wheezing in pain that he felt for you, because of you, chest aching, tearing apart, and baring his heart under the cage made of bones.
“No. No, no, no, no, you can’t say that! Why are you saying that?” And for the first time, since Kyle saw the bloodied, ragged teeth marks on your flesh, he broke down into minuscule, fragile pieces right in front of you. His voice trembled, frantic and exerted, refusing to believe you even dared to make peace with the inevitable. He grabs your shoulders firmly and his fingers dig into you so hard he can feel how cold you are through your clothes.
Key. He has to release you from the handcuffs. The herd was here, the way the floor vibrated under his feet, and the way gargled moans and sighs echoed outside made Kyle even more agitated. Where did you get those handcuffs anyway? It only takes a moment for him to remember. One of the supply runs that feels like a lifetime ago. Police station. Searching the bodies, or rather, what was left of them, for anything useful. You take out the handcuffs and show them to Kyle, telling him some kind of joke. He can’t remember what it was or the way you smiled, only that you made him laugh.
He wished instead of quiet rasping he could hear your laugh again.
“Where is the key from the handcuffs, where did you put it?” Kyle jumped to his feet and started looking over the room in a hurry, suffocated by the fear of losing you. He was wishing, hoping that you would show him where you hid the key, somewhere, anywhere, Kyle needed to throw you on his back and run right this moment.
“Fuck, listen to me, listen. To me.” you tried to snap him out of his delirium, with your harsh tone, freezing palms digging the bloodstains Kyle left on your blanket “You know what you have to do.” He shook his head wildly, looking at you like were mad for even suggesting something like this. “I don’t want to become one of them! You have to make sure I won’t come back.”
“Have you lost your damn mind?! I-” Kyle didn’t understand you. How can you say, make a request like this? Something was fundamentally wrong and the bite, the illness were to blame.
“Have you?” you interrupted, pouring all of your strength into this yelling match. You didn’t care anymore. You felt your fingers going numb, black, inky spots dancing on the edges of your vision, taunting you in their vicious dance macabre. You did not have time for his lame excuses and whatever it was he was trying to be right now. “I’m asking you one thing, and you can’t even do that! What the fuck is wrong with you?!” You couldn’t feel the way tears burned your cheeks.
“Listen to me, please! I’m not putting a bullet in your head; do I look like a fucking murderer to you?” Kyle pinches his brow in frustration, not even able to look at you right now. Every single suggestion and comment from you stings, fucking hurts and tears him open once again. Because you’re talking nonsense. Absolute bullshit. And you don’t even realize it, he thinks, blinded by your sudden chase after death.
“I’m fucking dying and you’re worried about not being a murderer? Are you being fucking serious right now?” You couldn’t believe your ears, quite frankly. It was the only thing that you had asked of him. The only thing that you wanted. To be finally released. You couldn’t bear it anymore. Your body working against you, living with the constant threat of turning any second, massacring and desecrating Kyle’s corpse as a bloodthirsty, disgusting creature, that will have your face, your body, your hands, and your voice, but not anything that makes you – you. No memories. No love. No inner strength and compassion. Just hunger and urge to slaughter, destroy, and ravage everything in your sight.
“You know that’s not what I meant! Why are you doing this right now?” Kyle felt like he was about to collapse into himself from despair. He couldn’t just do what you were suggesting. And you knew it, yet you chose to ignore it and refuse any acceptance? You always listened to him, even if you didn’t quite agree. You always were patient with him. What’s gotten into you now, what happened?
You don’t have any more time. That’s what happened.
“Oh, so I run away, trying to keep you safe so you live another day and see another one of these stupid sunrises, cuff myself here just so I don’t harm anyone and you can’t even do what I’m asking you to?!” Your voice rises to a volume you didn’t even know you had in you right now, after dragging yourself through the imitation of your former life for a little less than a week. To think your suffering so far lasted less than a week, yet you were ready to end it all right this moment.
Because you could feel it in your bones. You were close.
“Well, tell me, what’s the point of me living if you’re dead?!” You can hear the way his voice breaks in the end. Desperate. Pleading.
The silence rings in your ears with how loud it is.
“I’m sorry.” You croak at him after a short while, eyes trained on the dirty floor. Kyle chuckles, the sound that you love so much, but then it’s followed by a muffled sob. He kneels in front of you once again and your eyes rise to meet his. You can’t help but think that he looks even more beautiful covered in rotting guts, with his eyes full of light and love for a doomed failure like you.
It’s almost impossible to breathe from how hard your heart aches. God, you love him so much. You want to take all the pain from him with you, into the vile, putrid abyss. Kyle takes your hands in his. You’re terrifyingly cold. And he’s too warm. You feel tears rising to your eyes, prickling at them, as you fail at your attempts not to break down right now.
“I can’t stay mad at you when you make that face.” Kyle says with a small laugh that breaks into dry sobs, as his shoulders shudder violently with every single one, before he clings onto you, seeking comfort and reassurance, that you’ll be here. With him.
His embrace feels suffocating. It’s so tight you think any more pressure from him will break your bones into yellowish sharp daggers and fine dust. And you’d forgive Kyle if that happened. You’d forgive him for anything, quite frankly. Funny, how now you have the answer to what you would do if he was the one turning. You’d let him devour you wholly, in the ultimate show of love. You’d let him bite into you, whatever he wanted – neck, arm, a leg, he could have. You’d lay in the pool of your blood, muffling your pained cries by stuffing that worn blanket into your mouth. You’d slowly slip away into oblivion, letting your undead beloved gnaw on your bones and taste the love that would seep out of your flesh. You would probably turn a lot faster if that happened too. And then you’d be together for eternity. You knew Kyle always wanted you two to be together. Both in life and in death.
“I’ll wait for you. I promise.” You barely manage to squeeze a smile out of yourself to comfort Kyle, feeling your strength leaving you. Succumbing to the weakness that spread a dull ache over your body, to that festering rot inside of you, that was finally overtaking. You felt cold, thin digits of terror sink right through your chest, sweat prickling once again on your forehead and temples. There was no use clinging unto something that was unsalvageable. Your body and your mind were beyond repair. You knew it. Only he kept you here.
“Please…don’t leave me.” Kyle couldn’t feel anything besides the pain and hot needles jabbing his eyes. Your touch almost felt unreal, how weak, subtle it was. He tore away from you only for a moment, bloody palms cupping your face. His lips pressed against yours in a quick, feverish kiss, and even more pecks like this followed – to your forehead, eyelids, corners of your mouth, and nose. As if this would save you from inevitably losing the remains of your strength. As if you weren’t clinging to your last seconds with him as it is. “Please…please.” He whispered against your skin. His tears glittered like gemstones in the dim glow of the sunset. Kyle looked so beautiful like this. Yours.
He missed the moment when he stopped feeling short, warm breaths on his neck and your body started to get cooler to the touch. But he wasn’t ready to let you go just yet. A little more time, that’s all he needed. So, he lays your head across his lap, carefully, gently. Like he’s trying not to wake you up from a peaceful dream about places far better than this world. Kyle desperately tries to find that strength to make sure you won’t come back, to grant your last wish, but he just…he can’t. Now when you were right here, beside him, getting your well-deserved rest.
But you started stirring back to life unexpectedly, and just when Kyle wanted to say something, he realized, that it wasn’t quite you. The glazed-over eyes with a milky white cloud over them looked right through him, the blood that was dripping down from your nose, ears, eyes, and mouth after your brain finally shut off from the illness. The strained rasp, full of pain and hands that started grabbing and clawing at Kyle with crooked fingers, contorted into bizarre figures.
Kyle’s heart leaped down to his feet again in fear and he forced himself to push away your undead form, reaching out to him, pleading for something he no longer understood, as he crawled away, still facing whatever you turned into. If his heart wasn’t pumping blood through his body as fast he would’ve felt the small cuts from scraping his hands on the dirty floor. But his eyes were on what was left of you.
There were no traces of what he was searching for in this hollow shell, stolen from his love, stolen from you. Crimson trickling down from the mouth, the creature in your shape bares its bloody teeth and lets out a gargled moan, stretching the trembling hand towards him, demanding flesh, demanding sacrifice. And in Kyle’s mind, this isn’t you. This just can’t be. Absolutely not.
Kyle thought about the way you held him in your arms, while he gripped his shoulders in a tight hug. He thought of the way your thumb brushed over his knuckles. His thoughts traveled to the distant past, when you met him years ago in that summer camp, even before the world started rotting, only to be reborn a sick copy of itself. He remembered your smile when you sat near countless bonfires. The way fire played in your eyes. Your old leather jacket, the tent in your old survivor camp, the older man with mutton chops.
It wasn’t long before a bullet was between his fingers, being drilled by his sharp eyes. Kyle sat there, silent, eyes trained on the gun in his hand, unable to even look at your cuffed undead. Contemplating. Letting his mind stir around, thoughts sticking to the inside of his skull, brewing and bubbling there, like heavy resin. Kyle’s heart sent waves of dull, ringing ache all over his body. His eyes were on fire, burning and raw from tears.
Nothing made sense anymore. Kyle’s endless search through his mind landed on another memory again. Survivor camp in the forest. Ring of mountains to the west. A woman with dark, brown eyes and a shaved head.
“Turning is not the end. They still harbor the memories of their former selves. They’re just prisoners in their own bodies. I know that it’s not the end for them, it can’t be.”
Right now, Kyle would’ve clung to any lie that would explain to him your state. He would’ve believed any tale. You can’t just be gone in an instant, just shedding all that made you yourself like a snake sheds its skin, or a bird picks out the old feathers. How could he ever accept that you were gone, like a puff of smoke on the wind, leaving no visible trace, only the gaping, bloody hole in his heart and years’ worth of memories in his head?
All he ever wanted was to be with you. In life and death.
A minute passes. Another one follows.
A single gunshot echoes through the valley, drowned out by the rumble of the herd.

When Skies Are Gray (Ch.1)
Summary: You cross paths with someone from your past on the worst day of your life (which is saying a lot).
Warnings: Typical TWD content! Injury, death, suggestions of SA, language, etc.
Word Count: 1,661
Era: Between seasons 3 & 4, before Rick stops going on runs
A/n: I convinced myself that Daryl Dixon and coffee shop AU could totally go together...
One mistake. Very likely your last one at that. However, judging by the look in the man's eye, you may have just enough time to squeeze in another before your life comes to a permanent close. A grand finale of utterly screwing up. Seems fitting.
Despite everything, you don't actually desire the finality of death yet. The adrenaline surging through your bones reminds you that hope isn't completely gone until your body starts walking around, y'know, without your soul attached.
Past the end of your revolver, the man's pistol aims back at you, a cruel, sordid smile crawling across his face as his gaze roams around your figure. "Came in here lookin' for somethin' to ease our appetites... Looks like we found ourselves some dessert instead." He sounds quite pleased with himself, and you can only imagine what terrible thoughts are filling his mind.
You can't withhold the cold shiver that slips down your spine, cursing inwardly. Stupid. There were so many things you should've done differently to prevent this exact scenario from happening, but you'd gotten comfortable.
The small shop held the slightest promise of ammunition; that's the only reason you'd even risked investigating it with the encroaching threat of dusk at your heels. But you'd been sloppy in scoping the place out, and careless enough that when a cold hand grabbed you from behind you'd shot without a second thought.
Now you're reaping the repercussions of your foolishness. The lump of a body lay bleeding on the dirty linoleum floor. And you stand trapped between two men with guns who have worse intentions than using them on you.
"Dammit, man, she shot Jed!" The second man cries from behind you.
The first man doesn't even spare a glance. "If he let some bitch shoot 'im, then he d'serves it." He spits
"Duke, I dunno man." His boots shift nervously. "Let's just get tha' hell outta here." Please, please do your mind pleads.
The man named Duke begins to saunter towards you slowly, toying with you. "My pal an' I here are gonna have a fun night courtesy of you, doll. Then, after, we'll kill ya." Your arms are beginning to feel the strain from holding out your own gun for so long. You readjust your grip, but what's the point? He's almost to you now. "How's that sound?" Your thoughts are swirling, there's no way you can escape without getting at least seriously injured. But if that's the only option besides giving up willingly... well, you'll take that chance. You have to.
On the count of three... one... tw
BLAM!
You drop to the ground in a crouch, expecting the inevitable overwhelming pain of being shot to take over your body - but it never does. You lift your head to find Duke... dead. You whip around to see the other man with an arrow through his eye. Your gun's back out in an instant, aimed at a new target that emerges from behind a rusty shelf.
The new man holds a crossbow, posture rigid and shoulders sturdy. A good portion of his face is blocked by the bow except for feathers of brunette hair shrouding a blue eye.
"Whoa, there." The sound of a hammer being cocked at your back sends a rush of fury through you. Was this some sort of sick joke? Held at gunpoint by two men, then being rescued only to be held at gunpoint again by two different men? If you were honest with yourself, it wasn't all that surprising though. As far as luck went you were permanently scraping the bottom of the barrel.
The crossbow in front of you lowers suddenly. "Lav'nder?"
Now that you can see both of them clearly those blue eyes look awfully familiar. "Dixon?"
BLAM!
A blinding pain floods through your right shoulder so quickly that you collapse, sharp waves of heat blooming and spreading and taking over your whole body. You can see your gun lying in the dust and dirt. Huh, you hadn't realized you'd dropped it. You study the weapon as the daylight dims; the sun must not be wasting any time in its descent this evening. You think someone is talking but their voice is fading, the pain is numbing, the darkness is turning to black. There's never been a colder place than the floor of this cursed little shop.
One last stop before heading back home. An old hole-in-the-wall gun store on the off chance they'll find anything to help replenish the resources depleted in the fight against the Governor.
What little promise the place does have dissipates the moment a solitary gunshot rings through the air; all senses immediately on the alert. It isn't hard to discern the situation, the lead man's intentions are unmistakable. And so, they do what they've had to do too many times before.
But when the woman turns around, what he sees takes him a minute to process. You. He knows you. The word sounds stupid, but it escapes him nonetheless. Then again, maybe not completely stupid because you do remember him.
BLAM!
"Dammit!" Daryl shouts, unleashing his arrow into the skull of the third man. The man they'd mistakenly presumed was already dead. He rushes to your side, inspecting the wound. Clean through the shoulder. Good. He removes his vest and sheds his long-sleeved shirt, tying it around your shoulder, holding pressure. By the time he manages to bring himself to look you in the eye, you're already out of it.
Rick rifles around the men's belongings, gathering up their weapons and anything else that's useful. "You know her?" He asks, skeptical, with that particular cock of his head.
Daryl nods. "M'yeah. I did." He replies softly. You looked so different now; ragged, weary... alone. But still, he would recognize you anywhere. "C'mon, we gotta get 'er back to Hershel and Dr. S."
Rick's checking out your belongings now, snatching your gun off the floor to inspect it. "D'you trust her?" He asks.
Daryl hefts you up into his arms - it's easier than it should be. "She's a good one." An understatement.
"Heh, yeah." Rick chuckles, holding your gun out for him to inspect. "Cylinder's empty. Held off four men with a gun that wasn't even loaded." He gives Daryl a nod. "Let's get 'er home."
Daryl sits with your head in his lap, the rest of your body carefully draped across the backseat of the truck, hair spilling haphazardly across his pant legs. His fingertips hover nervously above your face, the overwhelming urge to physically reassure himself that you're really here growing by the second. He's terrified though. Why? Jus' do it. Rough fingers ever so gently brush dirty locks behind your ear, revealing sun-worn skin gone pale.
It's like he can't look long enough or hard enough at your face to make it feel true. To make you feel real. Are you? Out of anyone who could've found their way here from his past... Out of all the deadbeats and scumbags he would be unsurprised to find thriving in the lawlessness...
It was you.
The town had one lonely cafe, which was unfortunately sandwiched smack dab between the tattoo parlor and the pub - aka, Merle's playground. Once Merle had left for the military and then landed himself in prison, Daryl had kept to the same old routine more out of habit than desire.
He was on his way to the tattoo parlor late that afternoon - he can't remember why he was using the front entrance because he almost always went in through the back - but that day he had to walk past the happy little cafe to get there...
It's a warm spring day, the air beginning to fill with the scent of flowers instead of just dirt and cold. Which also means that people are sitting out front of the little coffee joint straining to soak up the last rays of sunshine. The shop windows are open to let in the fresh air, making the place seem noisier than usual.
"Lavender latte!" A barista shouts around the clamor from inside.
The screech of metal on cement to his left as a girl pushes out her chair. Just as he's about to walk past, he hears the scuff of a foot against the sidewalk and suddenly she's falling toward him. He reaches up to brace himself and stabilize her shoulders as her palms thud against his chest.
She pulls back, quick as a whip, eyes huge as pink begins to sprout on her cheeks. "I'm so sorry!" She blurts, gaze flickering around. It's weird, but he can't help but notice that she smells good, like really good. Flowers and citrus and earth, real things, not just some overpowering canned perfume like he's used to being around at the bar. She's cute too, feminine but not girly or gaudy, hair wind-whipped, hands and feet with remnants of dirt like she's been outside working. The pages of a paperback flutter in the breeze on the table behind her, the stem of a flower peeking out the bottom of the book.
"Are you okay?" She asks, eyes focused surely on his now, irises deep and unwavering and... Idiot. He's staring and he hasn't said a thing and you're waiting for a response.
"M'fine." He says with a grunt, crossing his arms. He almost tells you off for being so clumsy but the barista shouts again:
"Lavender latte!"
She brushes her hair behind her ear as if it's a nervous habit. "Oh, okay. That's good... I'd better go get that." She laughs, the corners of her lips just barely pulling up. She starts to walk away but then quickly turns back around. "Thank you!" A full smile this time, and then she disappears behind the door.
He shakes his head. Entertaining thoughts about a girl like that is ridiculous. At least, that's what he tells the rapid drumming of his heart. Shut up.

What Happened to the Sunshine?
Daryl Dixon x reader
Warnings: Major character death, ANGST, twd elements, walkers, mentions of death like a lot, italic is the memories, mentions of sex, mentions of pregnacy, kinda long, fighting
Summary: Daryl lost you and now he has to live with the pain.
Guys, I nearly cried writing this.
You were the sunshine to the rain for Daryl. You made every day in the miserable world good. You made every day worth living. He loved you and you had loved him. Sometimes, however, the rain would swallow the sunshine and leave nothing but ruin in its wake.
Walkers flooded the streets, keeping the group locked in a shack. Daryl was restless. He needed to get out of the small room. He needed to just be back at home and stay in his basement. He wanted to be alone.
Well, not really, no. He wanted to have you. He wanted to hug you again and listen to you tell him about the day you had. He wanted to look at your warm smile and have one on his face as well. He just wanted you to be with him. But you weren't anymore. You never would be again.
"Daryl Dixon, who gave you the right to look so handsome?'' You asked, teasing lased in your voice.
''I woul' have ta believe tha' would be my lov' for ya,'' He had said, smiling before kissing your soft lips.
You were wearing a pair of blue jeans and a white shirt, even though Daryl had told you that the planting that you wanted to do was only going to mess it up. You had laughed and slapped his shoulder. God, he could listen to your laugh all day.
"It better be that, honey.''
He had smiles at you. Leading you up to the bedroom for some sweet loving. He had held you like he could lose you.
If only he knew.
----
Stabbing the walker in the head, he groaned at the throb in his chest from the running. He was sweaty, dirty, and purely tired. He needed a shower, but he was not going to take one. Why? Because you weren't here to force him to take one.
"I swear if you don't get in that shower right now, you will sleep outside." You had said with a serious look.
"Honey, 've slept outside before."
"Well, I ain't sleeping beside no nasty man," You had laughed.
"Oh so I'm nasty?"
Daryl had ran to you, tackling you to the floor and started to rub his sweat, dirt, and mud all over you. He tickled you as he did so and you were screaming in laughter at his actions.
"Ewwww, you're getting Daryl on me," You whined, faking a pout.
"Fine, then woman. I will sleep outside."
You pull him in with a, "Come here my dirty man." and pulled in into a kiss. It lead to sex right there on the floor of the house but it was so passionate. He in fact had not slept outside.
----
The sun shined early in the morning, Daryl rolled over to your side of the bed, patting in search for you. He opens his eyes when he does not feel you and notices that your side had been cold. It had been for a while. He looks at your bedside table, the same as you had left it that morning, and smiles at your picture of the two of you. He remembered you begged him for the picture. Tears welled up in his blue eyes as he thought back to that day.
"Please, just one picture and then I will never ask again." You begged.
"Nah."
"But Daryl, I want a picture of you."
"Why?"
"In case anything happens, I will always remember your face."
"Ain't nothing gonna happen to us."
"You can't promise it," You pouted before getting into position beside him.
"I know nothin' will but let's get the pictur' done."
Maggie held the camera, capturing the pure look of love between the two of you. Daryl was looking at you with a love struck grin and you, you were looking at him with the biggest smile someone could give in the middle of the end of the world. Your eyes shined with love when you looked at Daryl and Maggie had felt like she was imposing on a moment.
"I love you Daryl, thank you."
"Love ya too, sunshine." He said, kissing your forehead.
He sniffled at bit before going on about his day. He tried to not think about you, the memories were to painful. He didn't know what was more heart breaking, the fact that he couldn't have you or the fact that you weren't here anymore. The sky had lost its sun. He had lost the light and the love of his life.
---
Daryl was working on his bike when he overheard some people talking about you. They were the worst kind of people in Alexandria and you had always hated them. Daryl had gotten into fights with them a lot over you.
The guys were laughing about how you were stupid to trust Daryl and that it was even crazier that you had settled for a man like him. He couldn't even protect you. Daryl sighed in defeat before going outside and started swinging.
You were running from a large herd, stumbling against the raised tree roots. The sun was going down and you were trying to make it home before dark.
"Daryl!" You had called when you were grabbed by a walker who was stuck under the root.
He turned to you but by the time he made it to you, the walker had attracted more which they started to bite into your flesh. Killing all of the dead bastards around you, he started running. Daryl yelled for Rick and everyone else and he sprinted to your body.
His fists collided with one of the guys face. He started beating the shit out of him. His ears ringing, blood covering his face.
"You're gonna be oka'." Daryl whispered to you.
"Rick!" He called again, agony slipping into his voice.
"Rick!" He sobbed.
"Daryl," You muttered. Blood was seeping through your clothes. The walkers had done a number on your shoulders and your legs. He was crying while looking into your eyes, they were struggling to hold on.
"I'm here, sunshine. Just hold on, you're gonn' make it."
Sobs rained from his lips, your body laying in his lap. Rick ran over, shouting to the group to follow. He knelt down to Daryl and your body, placing a hand on Daryl's shoulder.
"Daryl, I'm fine. I'm going to be o-okay," You said, smiling widely.
"No, no, no. Please," Daryl begged as his body shook when your beautiful eyes started to droop.
"Daryl, rem-remember to live." Your breathing became more slow, barely able to be heard.
"No, don't you die on me!" He started to shake you, hoping to keep you away.
The man below him was out cold and the others had ran away, not wanting to be next. But Daryl found them. He chased them down and started beating the shit out of them. He heard Rick's footsteps thudding against the road.
Rick watched his brother break down over your now lifeless body, his heart breaking at the sight. You were going to get married when you made it back today. You were going to start a family. You and Daryl were going to be parents. You were a few weeks pregnant and Rick had begged you to talk to Daryl but you were going to wait until after the run. You wanted it to be when everyone was gathered together for dinner.
"Please, wake up. Open your eyes, sunshine. Please," Daryl begged. He shook you once again, a white piece of paper fell out of your jacket pocket. You had brought it in case the moment was right.
Daryl looked at Rick and Rick grabbed the paper. He started to read it to Daryl as he cried over your bloody body.
"Daryl and I have been together for a very long time. We are going to get married someday and I wanted to tell him something. He is the most loving man, beautiful man, I have ever met in my life and to be honest, if the world had to end just so I could meet him, I say let it happen. I would choose this life every time if it means that I get to have the love of my life forever. Now, I wanted to tell you all that I have a surprise and now that we are safe, I wanted to say that I am pregnant. We are having a baby. We are going to be a family."
Rick helped Daryl place your body on the neatly stacked wood. Maggie and Glenn started to cover the wood with gasoline, soaking the wood until it was covered. Daryl said his last goodbyes to you and the unborn child that he will never get to meet. He watched as your body went up in flames at the toss of a match. He watched the love of his life, his almost wife, go up in smoke.
Rick grabbed Daryl and pulled him off the poor man who was completely knocked out.
"Daryl, take it easy." Rick showed him that it was just him and Daryl dropped to the ground on his knees.
"Daryl?" Rick got down on the ground with his brother. Daryl leaned into Rick's arms as he broke down to the thought of you. Glenn ran up to the scene and saw that Rick was holding a bloody Daryl with two men beaten to a pulp.
"Daryl, it's going to be okay. Everything is going to be okay. You can make it through this," Rick encouraged his brother by choice. It broke him knowing that Daryl was hurting. Your death had only happened a few months ago and Daryl was still breaking at the seams. This was the first time that Rick had seen Daryl show any emotion after you.
It's like the community said, you were his sunshine to his rain and without you, it was nothing but rain and thunder.

So I Live a Lie in the Light
Setting: Forest (6 year gap) Pairing: Daryl Dixon x Tabby O’Sullivan (OC) Warnings: Typical TWD violence and gore; mentions of child abuse; mentions of pregnancy Summary: Daryl has a secret. He’s always known it could affect all of those he loved. Just not like this. A/N: Tumblr is being an uber twat right now and won’t let me edit so hopefully there are no mistakes.
It had been getting more difficult to hide. Emotions always made it worse. For most of his life, he had tried to hide from them; push them down and bury them. And that was before he was bitten. He had been so young and careless, out in the woods after a particularly heavy beating from his father. Nature had always been his safe place. That night, it was anything but safe.
He had thought it was a dog at first, a low growl the first indication he hadn’t been alone. He had stumbled through the bushes and landed directly in the middle of the dinner table. The creature was kneeling over the deer carcass, its clawed hands holding open a gaping hole so its canine-like maw could delve inside.
It had heard him, probably smelled him now that he thought back on it. Running had proven useless, its long legs catching up to him with ease. He remembered thinking he would die right there that night. Even now, he could feel the pain flare to life around the scar its teeth had left on his shoulder.
Then it had let him go.
His daddy had been passed out drunk when he got home, allowing him to care for the wound without explanation. He would find out on the first full moon since the attack that the creature had been Merle and what exactly that bite meant for the rest of his life.
So Daryl, a lycan, had kept his secret. It made slaughtering the undead while alone a piece of cake. Even when he was with his chosen family, he had strength he would never be able to explain if he didn’t hide it well. Had he not been so consumed by fear, he could have saved them. He could have saved so many of them.
After Rick’s supposed death, he had skulked off into the woods to find his brother’s body, dead or alive. He had left everyone behind. He had left her behind. If there had been anyone he would have told, it would have been her. He wanted to tell her; wanted to show her how much he trusted her. How much he loved her.
But he was afraid. The walkers had done nothing more than die and had become the enemy. What would that mean for him? A lycan. A werewolf.
Rather than live with her rejection, he chose to live with her absence. It was better for both of them this way.
Daryl had made her promise to never visit aside from after each full moon. He had been adamant and, so far, Tabby had held to the promise. She’d set the world on fire for that man, so even when her heart ached for his presence, she held fast to the agreement.
Until now.
Circumstances called for an earlier visit. She brought supplies with her but secretly hoped this would be when he’d return. It had been six years. Two day visits every 30 days or so just wasn’t cutting it. He’d always allow her to stay in his camp, sharing touches and sweet kisses and whispered words. Sharing his bed and his body. She yearned for those moments.
Maybe today was the day.
“Daryl, are you here?” Tabby peeked into the tent, surprised to find Dog stretched out on the bedroll but no archer. “Daryl?” With careful, quiet steps—just like he’d taught her—she crept across the forest floor. It wasn’t long before she heard the familiar snarls of a herd. Oh god, no!
She didn’t call for him. It would only alert them to her presence when he could be perfectly fine and hiding to wait it out. But why would he leave Dog? There was a new, unfamiliar sound as she closed in, an animal of some sort. Probably, being mauled and eaten, the poor thing. When she could see a few of the uncoordinated, shuffling bodies, she pressed herself against the nearest tree, carefully leaning around to the other side.
What she saw defied everything logical she had ever been taught up until the dead began to walk.
A large, black creature was slaughtering walkers left and right; taking heads and limbs and tossing them carelessly. It was covered in fur and stood on two legs at about seven feet, with decipherable knees but canine hocks below them. The fingers and toes were tipped with large, razor-sharp claws that were slicing through flesh like butter. The torso was comparable to that of a human but larger, broader with pronounced skeletal and muscular features. But its head—Its head was large with canine features: elongated snout, pointed ears, and a mouth full of dangerously sharp, dripping teeth.
Tabby was frozen to the spot with wide eyes, tears on her lashes, and only one coherent thought: Daryl.
Had it killed him?
The creature paused with a walker’s head in its grasp, raising its snout to sniff the air—and turned its black gaze right to where she was hiding.
“Oh fuck.” She whispered, stumbling backwards before she turned around and began to run back to the camp. There was a roar unlike any she had ever heard from somewhere behind her but then the sound of more walkers being dispatched. “Dog!” Tabby screamed, relieved when the canine poked his head out of the tent. “Dog, come! We have to find Daryl!” She saw the archer’s pack on the ground, choking on a sob. Why would he go anywhere without supplies? “Come, Dog! We have to—”
When she turned, she was face to face with an open maw of pointed fangs, rivulets of thick saliva stretching and falling to the leaves. She lifted her foot to take a step back, watching its eyes lower and then rise before it growled. She couldn’t die. Not now. She hadn’t survived years of slow moving corpses to be taken out like this when she was so close to everything she could have ever wanted, apocalypse or not.
“Dog.” She whispered, oddly concerned that the canine hadn’t made a single sound. She started to risk a glance but didn’t have to look far. Dog was sitting calmly at her side, looking up at the creature with his tongue hanging out the side of his open mouth.
Movement in front of her brought Tabby’s eyes forward. A huge, clawed hand was reaching for her, slowly. She whimpered, raising her shoulders and screwing her eyes shut. The touch on her face was shockingly gentle. When it pulled away, she released the breath she had been holding and opened her eyes. It was backing away.
It made a noise before things began to shift. Bones and colors and size, shrinking and morphing until—
“Daryl?!”
He was naked as the day he was born, a hand out against a tree to balance himself as if the change had sapped his energy. The look he was giving her was unreadable, so many emotions flitting across his face that she couldn’t pinpoint just one.
“Ya weren’t s’posed to come here.” He whispered.
“Yeah, I get that now.” She snapped. “What the fuck is going on?” He stepped toward and when she stepped back, his expression crumbled.
“You’re afraid of me now.” He choked on a sob, his chin quivering. Daryl walked briskly past her and grabbed his pack, jerking out clothing and proceeded to begin dressing himself. “Ya can go if ya want.” The tremble in his voice made it clear that wasn’t what he truly wanted. Besides, she came to tell him something and now, more than ever, it seemed more imperative.
“Daryl, I—” The redhead braved a step toward him, visibly trembling. Yes, she was afraid. Even so, something in her gut told her that he would never hurt her. She was afraid because she didn’t understand. She needed to know what this meant for her. How it changed things. “I need an explanation. I need to know—”
Tabby paused, standing straighter when he went still with his shirt halfway pulled over his shoulders. Daryl sniffed the air—once, then twice—and turned to her, his brow creased. “Ya smell diff’rent.”
“You can smell me? Like—a dog?”
“Lycan.” He corrected, pulling his shirt the rest of the way down. The archer began to step toward her, but she consciously made her feet stay planted.
“Lycan?” Tabby queried, blinking.
“Werewolf.” Daryl stated calmly, as if it was the most normal thing in the world. He was nearly in front of her now, taking a moment to lean in and inhale through his nose once again. “Why do ya smell diff’rent?”
“New body wash?” She giggled nervously, a fine shaking to her person but still not moving away.
He actually dared to look insulted. “Ain’t like that, Tabby-cat. S’ya scent. Your smell. Ain’t your clothes or soap or perfume. S’you.” The jig was up. She had to tell him and then he’d need to her what it meant; if it was dangerous. What she needed to do.
“So,” The redhead dropped her gaze, toeing at the rocks. “What happens when—lycans?” He nodded. “When lycans and humans have sex and that results in the creation of a little being?”
Daryl stood up straight, looming over her in a way that had never intimidated her before that moment. “You’re—pregnant?” Tabby nodded, her chin quivering. Daryl barked out a laugh and doubled over, hands on his knees.
She stared with wide blue eyes, incredulous. “You’re seriously laughing right now?”
The hunter shook his head and stood up with an expression of pure relief. “Thought ya’d got bit. Didn’t have the—dead stench but I didn’t know how else to take it. Ya weren’t s’posed to be able.” He sobered quickly, reaching cautiously for her shoulders. When she didn’t back away, he pulled her in against him. “Anyway, aint been through it ‘fore n’ haven’t ran into many others like me, but s’far s’I know, ain’t no diff’rent than a human. Just—” he trailed off, easing his hold on her so that she could move back a little.
Tabby looked up at him, fear present in her trembling orbs. “Just what?”
Daryl bit his lip nervously. “Kid’ll have the curse. Ain’t no two ways ‘bout it. Don’t know how much or how lil’ it’ll show up. Could be born like a pup, could be human. Could change immediately, could take months, years. S’a lot I don’t know.” He let her go and turned away. “M’sorry. Didn’t think ya’d ever—”
Tabby stood in stunned silence, completely overwhelmed and more than a little frightened. One thing hadn’t changed, though. She didn’t think it ever would. She stepped up after a deep breath, wondering if he already knew she was closer because of super hearing or smell. Regardless, she wrapped her arms around him and nuzzled her head between his shoulder blades, pushing back the mental image of them snapping and shifting only a few minutes before.
She still loved him. He was still somehow her Daryl, even if she had a lot to learn.
“I’m scared. You can’t blame me for that.” She felt more than heard him sigh. “But I’m not scared of you.” Now a sharp intake of breath, blue eyes searching for her over his shoulder. Tabby leaned back, only enough for him to turn within her embrace, pressing herself right back into his chest. His arms encircled her immediately, warm and familiar. “I’m scared for our baby, what it means for them. What sort of life they’ll have to lead. What precautions we’ll have to take.”
Daryl nodded but didn’t interrupt.
“I do know that I want this and I want it with you.” She smiled against his shirt, squeezing him tighter. “We’ll figure it out. Together.”
“Together.” He repeated softly, a hand coming up to cradle the back of her head.
Pulling back, she gave him an all too familiar smirk, a mischievous twinkle in her wet eyes. “So, if I scratched behind your ear, would your leg shake?”
“Stop.”

Daryl Dixon Rewatch S1E03 - Paris Sera Toujours Paris
this ep wasn't as good as the first 2, but we got to meet Fallou and Antoine, so they made up for what felt like another ep of Daryl absolutely done with everything while relentlessly looking for a radio or a boat.
i feel like Carol's "presence" has been a constant on this show, but in this ep more than ever. her name is not mentioned, but there's at least a couple of pieces of dialogue alluring to her existence, her importance in Daryl's life, and how she is the driving force behind Daryl's urgency to get back home. more after the jump....
so Nicotero got his walker orchestra, which was cool, but def not one of the reasons i watch the show. as Daryl said this was just a stupid detour and now we gonna start doing things his way!
it bothers me how these two warrior nuns are completely useless and helpless when they have to deal with a couple of walkers. in each case, Daryl had to "save" both Sylvie and Isabelle while they were stuck dumb looking at walkers dangerously approaching them. are they warriors/survivors or what?? writers do better!
Laurent spewing some philosophical bullshit about fortitude was top TWD gimmick - kids wise beyond their years are annoying to me! but if you know me, you know i legit dislike most kids written in apocalyptic shows. adding insult to injury, Laurent be like "Not to fret, Monsieur Daryl. You will not die in Paris." *eyeroll* legit. main character plot armor. thanks, captain obvious!
in the "make everything about Carol" segment, we got "La mort et le bucheron:" i think an analogy could be made about hope, and how when we are so close to losing it all is when we hang on tightly to something and finally feel the urge to live, but to do that we need to learn how to share our burden. and i think that applies to both Carol and Daryl, if they are to move on, evolve, take the next step, they must be willing to share, to talk openly, and share their burdens with each other- let the other carry a bit of their weight.
it will never not be hilarious to me how Fallou continuously ignores Daryl's request for a radio, until he introduces him to Antoine, the pigeon guy, and their only form of communication. Daryl is SOOOO done with y'alll.
most interesting lines in the whole ep are about pigeons, heck yas! "Maybe he has a girlfriend... yes? We all have a person who waits... who waits for us somewhere." Daryl's face screamed CAROL and her name has never even have been mentioned on this show YET!!!!!
Daryl and Isa have a moment when she says they are the same, "broken until the world ended." YEAH, NAHHH. not the same! sorry girl, but your bohemian lifestyle chosen by yourself got nothing to do with how Daryl was forced to grow up and survive even before the zpoc.
omg Daryl's idiot longing face looking at the water lilies, saying it reminds him of home... and all i can think about is when Daryl took Carol to watch those Cherokee roses blooming as an apology back in s2 of the original show. that's art!!!!!!
and once again, i am not disappointed Daryl is a true man of honor, and wouldn't let Isa and Laurent suffer the consequences for a shot at getting a boat to return home. it's a very Daryl thing to do, and Isa called him out on it.
AND FINALLY she tells us something we did not know.... Daryl made a promise to whom is not revealed to get back home, and that's all he cares about. he doesn't deny it!! HE CANNOT
Daryl is just so ready to leave AGAIN!!! but not without first telling Isa she's good at making things up (ouch!!), but she needs to tell Laurent the truth.
then Daryl becomes the most reasonable person ever to have ever existed. he says, "maybe he's just a regular kid, a regular kid that got lucky and lived. maybe that's your miracle." 👏👏👏 - that's Daryl being the most Daryl since ever, calling out the bullshit, and keeping shit real. i love this show for bringing him back!
Laurent runs, Codron arrives... "the reasons are everywhere." once again, right when Daryl was leaving again, something happens that stops him from doing so. the universe works in mysterious ways indeed cause what he doesn't know is that he needs to stay around so Carol can find him, and she's on her way there already!
See y'all next week for ep 4!!!
42 days left until the premiere of THE BOOK OF CAROL!!!!!

close to home | chapter forty six
close to home | chapter forty six
plot: the reader and Sherry escape the Sanctuary
series masterlist
Pairing: Eventual Daryl Dixon x f!reader Word Count: 1,650 Warnings: violence, blood, typical twd A/N: thank you for reading!!! I love this gif omg and I updated twice today so let's go bitches
“Negan’s taking Carl back to Alexandria,” Sherry said as she rushed into your room. You looked up from the book you were reading and sat up.
“What?”
“He’s going with a bunch of guys. (Y/N), we can get out. I didn’t tell you because I didn’t think it would work out. But I can get us out. You and me.”
You started shaking your head as you stood. “I-I can’t, not without Daryl. If I leave, I won’t know what will happen to him. What Negan would do as punishment.”
Sherry smiled as she approached you. “I’m getting him out. I lied to one of the guards about Negan needing him. He’s going to be unguarded. I need you to write him a note in your handwriting. I’ll deliver it to him, and then you and I will go. We’ll find him on the road.”
You started shaking your head, not believing this. “Sherry, can we risk this?”
“It will work. I promise you.”
With her sincerity, you believed her and quickly wrote the note. Go now. I will meet you where this began. You signed it with your initials, and then you gave it to her. “He’ll know where, go,” You said.
When she was gone, you went to work. You didn’t have many belongings, but you grabbed one of the bags in the closet and threw a few things in there. A couple cans of food and two water bottles. You then put a few kitchen knives in the side pockets. Then you laid a towel down in the bag and waited.
You didn’t have anything else to change into. All you had were little black dresses and heels, but it would have to do for now. Sherry was going to get Daryl out, and then you and her. And then you’d be with Daryl again, you’d meet him at Hilltop, and he’ll make everything better.
You waited anxiously for twenty minutes before the door opened and Sherry walked in. “It’s done, we need to move.”
Quickly grabbing Tora, you shoved her in the bag and zipped it up. You heard her meowing, but she was very used to being carried like this, and you prayed she wouldn’t fight it too much.
The hallways were empty as you walked next to her, trying to seem as innocent as possible. Everyone knew your face by now; hardly anyone had ever talked to you in the two weeks you’d been here. So even though a few people spotted you walking together, you weren’t worried. It was a regular sight.
She led you through the medical wing and past more rooms you never got the chance to see. Finally you got to one of the back doors and she looked through the window of it before pushing it open.
It was a small courtyard, one you didn’t know even existed. You scrunched your face in disgust as you realized this is where all the compounds waste went to you. There were piles and piles of trash and rotton food.
“The sanitation duty takes a break for dinner, and no one watches back here. Not while groups go out. They need to guard other areas.” Sherry quietly explained to you as you approached a fence.
Sherry started to climb, struggling in her heels. You didn’t hesitate to follow her, but the added twenty pounds from Tora made it difficult.
You were careful and went as quickly as you could, and finally, your heels clicked on the ground. You were out.
“Come on, we need to get a head start before anyone realizes we’re gone.”
***
You were a few miles out, following Sherry, when she started to slow down. Tora was keeping up by your side now, and you were lucky not to stumble on any walkers. Still, you thanked the lord that you grabbed the knives you did.
“I know we’re we can go. I just don’t know how to get there,” You told her. “But if we can get to a road with a sign I might be able to figure it out.”
Sherry was silent as she stopped. “I’m not going with you.”
“What?” You asked. “You have to.”
She shook her head. “I need to get out of here. Far, far away. I can’t go with you, (Y/N). I need to leave.”
“Sherry, I can’t…” You trailed off. “No, please come with me.”
“Find Daryl. Find your people. You guys will beat Negan; I know it. Somehow you will.” She said and grabbed your hand. “Be happy, be free.” She told you.
You tried not to cry as she backed away and felt like you were losing a lifeline. She was the sole reason you got through the past two weeks, and you couldn’t imagine her not being with you.
“Sherry!” You called after her. She turned to look at you. “You wanted to make it right with Daryl? You have. You did more than enough. I will tell him everything you did for us, I promise.”
She smiled and laughed softly. “Good luck, (Y/N). I’ll never forget you.”
***
You were on the run for three days.
Your heels broke yesterday and your dress tore the first night you spent alone in the woods. You and Tora had barely any food left, and you finished what was left of your water last night.
You were breathless as you ran, your feet sore and cut up from walking and running barefoot. You were dehydrated, and you were lost.
The woods seemed never-ending, and you couldn’t find a road anywhere. Just miles and miles of trees. The deeper you pushed in, the more walkers you had to take down. Your hands were stained red with blood.
You had twelve walkers on your back; no matter how fast you ran, they kept pushing forward. And Tora was weighing you down. But you wouldn’t give up.
Pushing yourself up the hill, you saw buildings in the distance. You wanted to cry and scream angrily and happily, but you get moving. The moans were getting closer, and you couldn’t afford to stop.
The payment hit your feet hard, and you nearly buckled. Your head was spinning, and you felt like you were on the verge of fainting.
When you checked around your surroudings quickly, you spotted another half dozen walkers down the street. Tears burned your eyes and you knew that this was really it. You couldn’t fight off a dozen and a half walkers by yourself. You were too tired, too exhausted, and you were now stuck.
“Go, Tora,” You dropped the cat. “Run!” You screamed, pushing her forward and throwing your knife at the ground next to her. She scattered, and you fell to your knees, breathing deeply as your vision blurred. You were about to pass out.
As the walkers closed in, you cried loudly and waited for them. Tora will be okay, you kept telling yourself over and over. You wouldn’t let her die with you.
The walker closest to you reached out with its hands, and you stared at its rotten face, preparing yourself to be torn apart when an arrow pierced its skull, and it fell to the ground in front of you. You heard the whizzing of a few other arrows, and walkers started to drop.
You heard the clacking of horses' hooves and watched in bewilderment as riders circled the area, spearing the walkers with sticks. When the last one fell, one of the riders approached you with a nervous-looking horse.
“Who goes there?” The man asked, calming the horse and looking down at you.
You didn’t know what to say. You couldn’t say anything.
“Who art thou?” Another one asked.
You looked around and stared at their body armor. “W-what?”
“What is thy name?”
You heard movement and watched as a woman jumped from her horse and approached you. “Hold on, she looks like she’s been really hurt,” She said.
When she got to you, you crawled backward, away from the stranger. “Don’t touch me!” You screamed. “Don’t bring me back. Just kill me! I’ll never submit to Negan again!”
You fell back against the pavement and stared up at the blue sky.
“Ah shit,” You heard someone say.
The woman leaned down next to you and carefully touched your hand. “We’re not with the saviors. We can help you.”
“I just want Daryl,” You cried lucidly. All you could picture was his face.
“Did she say Daryl?”
“We gotta bring her back. She’s gotta be the one that Negan took. Rick said she was made to be his wife, right?”
You lifted your head and stared at the woman at the sound of Rick's name. “You know Rick?”
“They were here the day before last,” She said, grabbing your arm and helping you up. She took her knife and ripped off a piece of her shirt, using the scrap material to tie the ends of your broken dress snap. “You’re safe. You’re (Y/N), right? Rick and Daryl told us about you.”
You nodded as she helped you up, but you were unsteady. She helped guide you to her horse. “My name is Dianne. Your friend, Morgan, he’s with us.”
Dianne helped you get on top of the horse.
“Wait, wait,” You quickly whistled for Tora, and after a few never-ending seconds, she came darting out from underneath a wrecked car. “My cat. Tora.” You breathed out.
Dianne grabbed the cat and handed her to you, and you held her tightly, quietly whispering how you were sorry and loved her.
“We’re going to take you home now,” Dianne said. “You can see Morgan, okay?”
“Where is home?” You asked as the horse started to walk.
“We’re going to the Kingdom.”

My Little Hatefuck / Negan x Rhee!Reader / 18+
Summary: You hate the man who killed your brother in cold blood, but that doesn’t mean you don’t want to fuck him.
Warnings: fight scene between reader and Negan (they love each other really kinda.) usual rough/hate sex themes, talk of death/murder, choking, minimal foreplay (there’s walkers right outside the door wtf do you expect lol), use of belt and rope, denial of feelings, not proof read.
A/N: i’ve left the ending open to a part two as the request was for the reader to have feelings for negan as well so this could potentially be explored in the next part if people want it. 🤍 i just hit 1,000 on one of my previous stories so i just want to say a massive thank you to you all! i only started writing again a couple months ago and i’ve been welcomed back in with sm love, i love the twd community 🤍 enjoy x
that whistle, that goddamn whistle.
like a lamb to the slaughterhouse, you had been in attendance enough to know what happens after that high pitched sound. it taunted you, haunted your dreams, the visual of your brothers eye popped out of the socket, crimson blood dripping from his dented skull down his face as tears rolled down his cheeks. that last whimper of a sentence, a lasting promise to his pregnant wife of once finding her again.
your own tears running free as well, his body finally slumping to the ground as Negan gave his final swift hit to your brothers skull, bits of his smushed flesh flying off the end of the barb wired bat. you’d grimaced, not being able to look at it, not wanting to face the reality that your only remaining blood relative was now gone, after all the shit you’d had to get through to survive this cursed world, for it to be for nothing, to be taken out by a evil and egotistical creature trying to prove a point.
he’d never be able to see his baby grow, never be around to hear their first giggle, see their first steps, it pained your heart just to think of it. you weren’t just thinking of it now though, it had become your reality.
you’d pushed yourself up off your knees, screaming bloody murder, getting fingertips away from grasping his now blooded up leather jacket before his sidekick lackey had grabbed you around your waist, pulling you away from him with a swiftness, your legs reaching out to try and kick Negan in the chest.
“someday, you monster! someday i’ll fucking kill you! you’ll be begging me to slit your throat when i’m fucking done with you.”
he’d just laughed at your anger, staring you down with a certain glint in his eye that you couldn’t understand.
a couple months down the line, you were still hurting. becoming the saviours personal bitches hadn’t sat right with you. you were secretly seething with Rick for allowing them to use you all as a personal doormat, Negan had well and truly broken him down to a shadow of what he once was. this man had ripped out someone’s throat with only his teeth before, but now all he did when they visited was back down and cower away from them. you’d tried to remind yourself that he was just trying to keep you all safe, including his own family. it was hard for you to stomach, Rick still had his family, still had his son, you had no one. with Maggie being sent to hilltop, you had no one that knew what you were going through, everyone hurt after Glenn’s passing but nowhere near how you felt.
he kept coming around, that stupid fucking bat sat on his shoulder, even making Rick hold it, having to bite your tongue to keep you from saying something that would get either yourself or someone else killed. always looking at him with fire in your eyes, unrestrained anger and hatred. he never looked at you the same way though, that unknown glint still shining through.
you wanted to scream at him again, wanted to wrap your hands around his throat and watch him squirm, watch his eyes flicker at the realisation he was going to die at the hands of you. it was one of the thoughts that kept you going, gave you a reason to see this through, you had nothing tying you to Alexandria anymore other than your relationships with those you’d travelled this journey with, they’d told you time and time again that you were family, while you knew what they said was true, it just wasn’t the same as having your brother fighting by your side. they’d supported you as best they could given the situation, you hadn’t had to cook in weeks, Rick always allowing you to deny going on supply runs, you would outright refuse. you needed something to keep you busy and taking out your anger on the undead was therapeutic.
you missed the stupid jokes he’d tell you when he could tell you were sad, not leaving your side until you were laughing along with him. the way his eyes had lit up when he told you he was expecting a child, engulfing him into a massive hug at the news.
you’d been looking over maggie’s false grave around the back of the compound, it being the closest thing you could get to being at your own brother’s grave at hilltop. even knowing she was alive, it still pained you to see a grave dedicated to her, made you realise that’s how you’d all end up eventually, if Negan was to be victorious.
you had felt his eyes over you for the past couple minutes, it taking everything in you to try and ignore his presence. you let out a sarcastic, angry sigh while crossing your arms over your chest. “can i help you at all? or are you just gonna keep staring at me?” you piped up, shuffling some of the dirt underneath your foot. he lowly chuckles, his heavy footsteps getting closer to you before you felt the leather of his jacket swipe against your arm, making you flinch slightly away from him. your skin burnt with anger, taking a deep breath in through your mouth and out of your nose as you fought your natural reaction to pounce on him, you’d thought of this scenario time and time again.
how you’d slit his throat, watch him bleed out like a stuffed pig, laughing as the tears would slowly roll down his cheeks. how he’d beg you for his life, how he’d apologise for what he had done, falling to the ground in desperation, his breathing getting shallow the more he bled out. his deep voice pulled you out of your comforting thoughts.
“damn tragedy. that’s what this is.” he tutted, leaning down on his knees, examining maggie’s tombstone. you scoffed, how dare he! even if he didn’t know that she wasn’t really dead, if she would have died, it would have been a direct consequence of the pain he’d put her through to begin with.
“don’t act like you give a shit about her. you sure as hell didn’t give a shit when you were bashing her husbands skull in.” he tilted his head up to look at you, you holding his gaze, the last thing you were going to do was cower to him like the rest of Alexandria had become accustomed to doing.
“you are such a damn spitfire doll, you know that! you ain’t like the rest of them are you sweetheart?” he rose to his feet, now towering over you again. “talking back to me like that! knowing damn well i could take lucille to that pretty little head of yours. don’t think i haven’t forgotten about that night, you threatened to kill me! right in front of my saviours, now that… that took balls. so tell me doll, are you brave or just fucking stupid?”
now it was your turn to laugh.
“i suppose you’ll find out Negan… when i finally see it through.”
you were sick of it, having to watch as those vultures loaded up their vans with supplies you had scavenged for, risked life and limb to keep yourselves afloat. as the male saviours look at you, eyes taking over your body, you didn’t even want to think about what filthy fantasies they were having in their minds. it made you feel sick to your stomach, the end of the world had only allowed for people to act upon those depraved thoughts and desires with no fear of police enforcement or consequences of their behaviour, practically a free for all.
you could see Negan in the distance, using his bat as a pointer stick, directing his band of merry fuckwads towards what he wanted to take back with him, he’d already cleared out your homes, mattresses, food, weapons. you name it, he’d got his dirty paws on it.
after your little tête-à-tête with the man himself earlier, you felt accomplished. you weren’t going to hide the truth, how when the time was right you’d have no problem killing him where he stood. you wanted the thought to run around in his subconscious, that threat always lingering in the back of his mind.
you imagined that running such a ‘successful’ group had probably given him the inflated ego akin to a military captain, meaning he was lured into a sense of false security. who would dare question his authority? knowing what he could do to them.
you watched as he exchanged words with rick before getting into the front leading grey truck, his eyes scanned the crowd that had gathered around the trucks before landing on you, leaning back into the seat relaxed, a grin on his face as he tipped his head towards you like he was wearing a cowboy hat, slapping the side of the truck commanding the driver to start driving away.
you turned back towards your house, preparing yourself to assess the damage of what those brutes had done to your personal property. you’d expected to see all your possessions destroyed, your picture frames on the floor, glass everywhere. your favourite blanket you’d carried with you since the start taken with no care to the sentimental value it held for you. the bookshelves to be pulled over and broken, your collection of books you’d accumulated over the years to be stripped away from you, one of the only activities that made you feel somewhat like you were back in the world before the apocalypse.
as you walked through the threshold, you were shocked to find that it was like nothing had been touched? no damages to anything, your belongings were just as you had left them. the pictures of you and your brother were still on top of the non working fireplace you had in the lounge, your blanket left neatly folded as you had folded it this morning after you woke up. making your way upstairs, you checked your bedroom, you almost couldn’t believe that your bed was still there, mattress and all, the only difference being a small crumpled bit of paper that had been poorly smoothed out, the deep crinkles still very much there. you picked it up, seeing scribbled handwriting in black ink.
“i’m not always a bad guy.
- N”
you allowed a small smile to creep on your face, before it left just as quickly, the guilt eating you alive. was this an apology? a peace offering? he must have known this was your place from the various pictures of you and glenn darted around the rooms.
you were on your back, large hunting knife still strapped to your front, the wind causing the dust to create a fog of dirty air. it had all gone to shit so quickly, from the kingdom and hilltop storming Alexandria at the last minute to save Carl from being killed at the hands of Negan, running up on Negan at the Sanctuary, Gregory turning on the hilltop, obviously scared of Negan and the Saviours.
you had no clue where anyone was, the walkers now taking over the lower bay of the Sanctuary, you’d been diverted every which way, just trying to find salvation before you accidentally tripped over your own feet, trying to scramble away to safety.
picking yourself up you saw a outhouse like building a couple minutes run away, weighing your options you hauled towards it, pushing walkers away from you before grasping the handle, flinging the door open and running inside. as you turned and slammed the door behind you, the light dwindling leaving you with barely any vision. you bent forward, hands on your knees trying to desperately catch your breath back.
slumping towards the wall, you allowed your body to rest, the smell of dirty walkers invading your nostrils accompanied by the moans and groans of them as well. you hoped everyone had managed to get away okay, the feeling of anxiety overwhelmed your body at the unknown fate of your peers.
you’d finally managed to get your breathing back to normal, feeling slightly more relaxed than you did, getting up off the dirty floor to survey your surroundings and start planning how in the hell you were going to get out of this fucking mess. you’d noticed some basic supplies scattered around, a bit of rope, a small half filled bottle of water and a rusty crowbar. you pocketed the rope and took a sip of the lukewarm water before throwing the bottle back onto the ground.
formulating your plan of action was abruptly cut short when the door you’d entered from burst open without warning, you’d grabbed for your knife again, pointing it towards the figure who’d just entered. the light coming through the door again blinded you for a few moments before shutting again, your eyes trying to adjust to the darkness. the heavy panting of the shadowy figure sounded all too familiar.
you could have thanked god in that moment, that he had delivered you just the person you’d hoped would have run out of luck, all packaged up with a pretty bow on top. it was only Negan, looking absolutely distressed and out of breath, obviously having had to fight off walkers, just the same as you. you carefully stepped further into the corner, trying to keep out of sight, formulating your next movements. you could finally do it, finally get him back, remove him off the face of the earth so ‘Negan and the Saviours’ were no longer anything more than a minor blip in history.
“god-fucking-damn it!” he growled, his tone angry, slamming his bat into the metal wall, making it wobble under the force of the smack. you could see his thoughts running at a mile a minute, the same look of ‘how the fuck do i get out of this one?’ that you’d had on your face only a couple minutes prior.
as his back turned towards you, you decided to go for it, leaping from your hiding spot, your heart beating out of your chest, you shoved him down onto his knees, a gruff sound of his breath hitching at the force, his precious weapon falling to the side of him.
you laid your entire weight on his back, your hands digging into his shoulders, your knife clattering on the metal floor just at the side of you, forcing him onto his stomach, your knee pressed deep into his lower back to deny him getting up. the element of surprise had made this all too easy.
“who the fuck are you?” he grunted out, trying to throw you off his back, your knee now shaking at how forcefully you were digging it into him.
“i told you i’d fucking kill you.” you spat at him, his body tensing up as your voice hit his ears. he gave a breathless, sarcastic chuckle.
“well…well…well, fancy bumpin’ into you doll! tell me, how’s ricks big master-fucking-plan working out for you?”
“brilliantly, considering you are now a second away from me slitting your throat.”
Negan pushed up with almighty force, putting you off balance, capitalising on your shock, he whipped around, coming down on top of you, your legs forced open as he parted them with his large frame, now holding you down, your arms above your head pushed into the ground.
“when i imagined us in this position doll, it wasn’t in a goddamned metal tin can, i can tell you that much.”
you growled at the idea - that he’d imagined you in such a compromising position. hearing this, you manoeuvred your legs to having your feet on his chest, pushing him over with all your force. he landed on his back with a thud, slightly yelping out at the pain.
you planted yourself on top of him, straddling his lower body, grabbing your knife and holding it just under his chin.
“you know, i’ve been thinking of this for months. why’d you have to do it, Negan? why?! my only family still breathing, butchered down by the likes of you! he was going to be a father! you tore me apart and laughed in the process. you think leaving me my stuff means i forgive what you did to me?!” you sneered at him, your rage now taking over, hot tears starting to pool in your eyes as the pain of what he’d done to you got too much to hide.
you expected him to laugh at you, just as he had before, planning to go out the way he had always been, cold hearted and evil. you were met with the exact opposite, he looked defeated, like the mask he used to hide had been ripped off.
“if i could take it back i would.” your eyes went wide, that wasn’t what you were expecting him to say. you pressed the knife a little harder into his chin, a small gash created under the pressure.
“i mean it doll, if i’d known he was your brother… i never would have touched him.” you almost dropped the knife, his confession hitting you.
“why? why am i any different to the other sisters?! the other family members of the people you’ve butchered, killed, fucking murdered? all for some pathetic little crusade? we’ve got enough fucking problems with the dead coming back to eat our asses!”
he sighed, putting his gloved hand on the blade, raising his eyebrows to indicate he wanted you to move it so he could sit up properly. you moved slow, with caution, ready to pounce again if this was some sort of false pretence. you allowed him to sit forward, his arms now coming out to balance himself, palms sat flat on the ground.
your chest now pressed up against his, as he looked you directly in your eyes, the hint of fear gone from his face. you should have killed him when you could, the guilt now entering your heart as he looked at you with such intensity.
“because, i see a headstrong, independent and straight up badass woman who doesn’t take shit from any fucker. i’d just beat the shit out of rick, cracked the holy hell out of two of your people and you still had the guts to threaten to slit my fucking throat.” you clasped his leather jacket under your hands, while still holding your knife at a downward angle, the blade sat on his thigh.
“and it also helps that you.. sweetheart - are one of the sexiest women i’ve ever seen this side of the apocalypse.”
your heart swooned, fuck you shouldn’t have been thinking like this.
he was the enemy, the man who had tormented you and your people for months on end, he’d killed your relative, for god sake! but in this moment, when all the theatrics, the violence, the destruction was taken away and it was the two of you staring into each other’s eyes, you didn’t care about that. you knew he was going easy on you, he could have grabbed Lucille with little to no effort and bashed your skull in, leaving you for dead but he didn’t. he was sat here with you, allowing you to be on top, in the power position.
you let your intrusive thoughts get the better of you, allowing the knife to slip from your grasp, one of your hands coming to cup his cheek, planting a long kiss on his lips. the attraction was there, you knew it, you’d known it since you laid eyes on him but everything in your soul told you it was wrong, it was borderline sinful to be so attracted to a man who had done such horrible things to people you cared the most about. you’d be banished if your people could see you now… but you didn’t fucking care.
when your lips separated, you felt his fingertips brush against your thighs, his hands gripping at your ass. Negan kissed your jawline, moving to the base of your neck, finally pressing his lips into the hollow of your throat, sending chills through to your spine. gently nibbling on your earlobe, you heard yourself softly moan, almost trying to repress your pleasure. you involuntarily started squirming your hips slightly in response to his actions.
“you are a real bastard - but you are going to give me this. i deserve this, Negan.”
he removed his hand from your ass, reaching around shrugging your thin jacket off your shoulders, followed by pulling your white top over your head, exposing your bra to him. you hastily reached around yourself, unhooking your bra, letting it fall into your lap before Negan moved it to the side of you. his hands then explored your chest, leaving harsh bites in a trail from your neck down to your breasts.
his tongue began tantalising your nipples one at a time, circling them, flicking back and forth across them - then kissing and sucking on them. his hand slipped to your jeans, unbuttoning them, pulling the zip down, caressing your pussy, slipping in-between your lips, finding your clit and harshly pressing down on it. he kissed his way back up your upper body, going over your neck, jawline and then back to your lips. he was still circling your clit, you tugged at his belt, slipping it open and pulling it out of its loops.
lifting yourself up you pulled his jeans down just enough to expose his erect, strong, and fucking big cock.
“i guess you are allowed to have such a annoyingly big ego.” you stated, Negan being brought out of his trance to grin at your statement.
looking at it sent a chill through you, the words you gave out were starting to get drowned out by the noises of the walkers outside the four walls, reminding you they could burst through at anytime. you momentarily rolled back off him, the loss of pressure on your clit making you whine out, pulling your jeans fully off.
you looked back at Negan, his glove glistening with your wetness as he put his hand into his mouth, tasting you.
“you taste fucking delicious doll.” he leaped forward, causing you to now be on your back, the same position he had you in earlier, running his hands over your breasts again, towering over you to kiss you, tasting yourself on his tongue.
slipping a hand between your bodies, you began stroking his cock, the pre cum dripping down onto your hand. supporting himself on one elbow, he took over your hands position on his cock, moving to line himself up. you felt the head of his cock probing your pussy, teasing your entrance. he moved his hips forward pushing his cock into into you, a loud moan escaping your lips.
once he’d positioned himself just right, Negan slid his arms under your back, supporting himself on his elbows while holding you in position. he began taking long but hard thrusts, almost ripping you apart. you raised your legs behind his back, crossing your ankles behind him. you twisted your hips, joining him to meet his thrusts, a grinding motion of your own. he took one hand off your back, causing your body to slump a bit as you propped yourself up on your elbow replacing yourself in the position. his hand he’d moved grasped your throat, just as hard as he was thrusting his hips into you.
“i might be a bastard doll, but you can’t deny those pretty slut noises you are making right now. you feel so good wrapped around my cock.”
you whimpered at his dirty mouth, you weren’t even in a good enough headspace to rebuke what he had claimed.
he continued to drill into you, you felt yourself shiver as the feeling built up inside your core. that pleasurable feeling you hadn’t felt in a good long while, never bothering to find love in such a fucked up world, no matter how many urges you had. you used your free hand to start circling your clit, trying to race to finish first, you knew the danger of staying here for too long. the pressure of his hand on your throat, the force of him continuing to rutt into you, your walls grasping him in a death grip.
“come on doll, i can feel it, cum for me. come on!”
he gave three sudden hard drives through you, joined with the pulsating of his cock you could feel deep inside you. your legs tightened around his torso out of reflex as your head threw back, the ecstasy laced sensation finishing you off as a few profanities slipped out of your mouth.
he followed behind you, as you felt him pull out, coating your inner thigh with his spend. he kept a hold of you as you both tried to catch your breath, the realisation of what you’d done hitting you just as hard as your orgasm had. you felt disgusted with yourself, not that you’d had sex but who’d you’d had sex with. you had let yourself get swept away with the pleasure, the carnal need to get yourself off and now you’d done something you could never take back.
you grabbed your jeans, pulling them back up your legs and re-buttoning them up. grabbing your bra, you readjusted it back on your body along with your top and jacket as well.
“why the rush doll?” fuck, you’d almost forgot he was even there.
“well, it might be something to do with the impending walkers at the fucking door, Negan… or the fact i just had sex with probably the worst choice of person i could have ever had sex with?”
his face dropped at that, “come on doll, did the pouring of my heart out earlier not change your mind about me? i’m not a fucking asshole, i’m just someone trying to protect the people who look to me to protect them.”
that caught the attention from your actions, you looked at him, still sat on the ground, his now flaccid cock laying on his lower stomach.
you scoffed, putting your hands in your pockets, feeling the rope still place there, you had to move fast.
you made your way over to him, cupping his face lovingly, making it seem like you were going to kiss him, before shoving the rope in his mouth, tying it tightly around the back of his head, his eyes widening at your actions.
shoving him around with all your force onto his stomach, you grabbed his discarded belt, looping it at his elbows, pulling the belt through the buckle and popping it onto the tightest hole there was. Negan struggled against you, trying his best to fight out of the belt you’d caged him with, his post orgasm energy wasn’t enough coupled with the pain now shooting through his manhood at the force you’d pushed him down at.
you pulled him up, he was resting on his knees, the same position he’d had you all on the night at the RV all those months ago. you couldn’t deny the full circle moment left a sweet taste on your tongue.
you grabbed your knife, sheathing it back in place, before turning back to look at him once more.
“plea-se don’t, i want you to be with me!” he said, at least that’s what you think he’d said, the words coming out all muffled from the rope being in his mouth.
you laughed.
“oh i’m sorry? did you think that just because i let you into my panties, i was going to spare your life? oh no honey, i’ll let the walkers have at you.” you bent down to his face, giving him a patronising kiss on the cheek, he was still rutting around trying to get out of the restraints as he looked at you murderously. “let’s hope they tear that big cock of yours off your body first.” you moved to the exit, winking at him.
“although, if by some miracle you escape this? come find me, you know where i’ll be. this? this has been fun.”
you pulled your knife out, hand on the door, ready to fight your way through however many remained outside, leaving some for dear old negan though.

“We’re gonna win.”
Brian was confident of that. He spoke with an authority bigger than Pete or Martinez ever had, and it spread through the camp like wildfire. After that quick speech, it didn’t take the others any longer than a half hour to get their gear packed. Knives, guns, more bullets than you’d ever seen before. Mitch even started up his tank, taking the last few drops of gas from the reserve.
If this didn’t work out, if the prison wasn’t the place Brian promised it would be, you weren’t sure if there would be anything to come back to. The camp had been uprooted in those short thirty minutes, a sudden shift into hostility. And it left the small clearing, once untouched by the brutality of the dead, stripped bare. The soft grass trampled as the cars rolled through and the fire pits nothing but ash. You had a feeling that this would be the last time you saw this place; not quite dread, but not the hope and determination that the others seemed to carry, either.
You watched as they all loaded their guns, brows furrowed and posture firm. A group of survivors, brought together by happenstance, now soldiers. At least, they pretended to be.
Across the clearing, a pile of ammo boxes sat on a flimsy fold-out table. Emily packed them one by one into a bag, dark hair pulled into a ponytail and a rifle slung across her back. A small smirk snuck across her face as Mitch quipped something for only her to hear. His eyes flickered from his favourite gun to you, and he didn’t dare flinch when he realized you were already staring their way. Emily’s eyes followed not long after, but that cocky—and threatening— expression she faced you with finally made you look away.
You took a deep breath and tried to ignore the way your skin itched under their devoted attention. That blue tent you were packing wasn't quite distracting enough, so your eyes kept wandering. It didn't take long for you to find the curious Tara sitting on the bench near you. She’d been packing a bag of her own. It was mostly clothes and food. Provisions. The prison was meant to be your new home, after all.
Tara glanced between them and you, throwing back a mean glare of her own. Their uncomfortable stares slipped away after that, so you gave her a small but grateful smile. She was new— came with Brian’s crew— but a kind face amongst a group that otherwise felt like strangers. People mostly kept to themselves. Prepping for this fight was the highest camaraderie they’d had. Tara wasn’t exactly immune to it— she had been one of the first to volunteer, after all— but, there still seemed to be a hint of hesitation in her eyes.
While loading her gun, it seemed to hit her the hardest. She sighed, “We do this, maybe we don’t need to fight anymore.”
You paused from packing up the last of your tent. Maybe she meant the others, maybe she meant the dead. You weren't sure, and you weren't convinced either.
“Do you really think that?”
Her brown eyes widened.
“You don’t?”
Whatever small bit of defiance you had slipped away then. You practically crawled back into your shell and tucked your tail.
“I dunno,” you mumbled with a weak shrug.
“Brian said they were bad people. They don’t even deserve that place,” she said with a waver in her voice.
“I heard what he said.” You continued packing. “I just…” you trailed off when you noticed Lee walking toward the bench— toward you. Behind his figure, Brian had joined Emily and Mitch, barking some instructions that they happily followed. You met Tara’s unconvinced look again, unable to speak toward her subconscious plea; you couldn’t convince her to retreat. This thing was too far gone.
Lee had a stern look when he finally made it. He stood firm, a rifle of his own in one hand and one for Tara in the other. He dropped it on the table, then looked you up and down.
“Where’s your gun?”
“I, uh—”
He sighed, and you lost your voice again. The raised tensions had shrunk you; that fear meant to mould you into an obedient soldier only made you feel smaller.
“No more dancing around this shit. If we don’t fight, we die.”
Lee held out a pistol.
“So fight.”
—
The last few weeks had been filled with a sinking urge to go back and scream that little doubt to the world. Sleepless nights of wishing you’d just said something. Wondering what the hell made you so meek and afraid that you couldn't even question it— him. Not even to a person as reasonable as Tara seemed.
When the time came, you bit your tongue and complied. Nothing would change that. Nothing could.
And now there were no words left. Just a stinging silence of guilt and hurt burning up the air between you and Daryl, until there was almost nothing left.
After the bus, he kept driving. You had no clue where. Didn’t have the breath to ask, anyway.
Every inch of you was heavy, discomfort settling in tense muscles. You held your hands in your lap, controlled the rise and fall of your chest to a slow rhythm, and watched the everlasting stretch of road ahead. It all felt forced. Loud. The seconds between blinks, the slow exhales, and your eyes watching anything but him.
You weren’t sure how to just be next to the man of stone beside you.
That stiff tension hadn’t let go of him since it first clouded, and that bottle he was stuffing every bit of grief into hadn’t exploded— yet. You could sense it coming. Could feel the cracks splitter as anger festered inside that heavy chest of his, beating like a drum against his ribs, his lungs, his shut mouth. Begging to get out.
God forbid he let that stubborn, stoic facade fall.
There hadn’t been a single word since. Only a silent agreement to pile back in the car and then… whatever this was. The bridge of trust between you, padded with fresh bandages and unwavering loyalty, was catching flame. And you could feel Daryl slipping. Feel his grip around your hand loosen as he inched closer to that edge.
Maybe you weren’t strong enough to hold him, after all.
The sun dipped behind the horizon. Those last golden rays reminded you how sweet the day had started. A brief escape. Dusk stole that kindness and the casual cruelty of this new world weaved its way back in. By the time Daryl finally pressed on the break, the sky had tinted a dark blue. But it wasn't dark enough to stop yet.
You glanced up, eyes still foggy, and tried to settle your vision on the issue ahead. It was like breaking out of a daze— an uncomfortable, suffocating daze that dragged on with every beat of silence. But you couldn’t come up for air just yet. There was another problem to solve first, like always.
This time it wasn’t a bus, but a large branch blocking your way. The bark was rotted and smaller sticks scattered around. The leaves were dead and dry as bone, and the bigger tree to the left had a stark revelation of lighter wood. The branch must’ve snapped off when the weight got too heavy to carry, some time ago.
Pulled from that daze, you finally had the strength to look at Daryl and with that single glance, you could feel how close he was to snapping, too. White knuckle grip around the steering wheel, lips sewn shut, and narrowed eyes surrounded by tired rings of purple. He looked like a different version of himself. Like Daryl, but muted. Without that slight smile to match it, the curious look in his eye felt cold.
And you swore there was a hint of animosity, too.
He quickly got out of the car and approached the blockage without a word, his crossbow, or you. Only the knife on his hip.
Not everything had changed; you slowly followed, like usual, and Daryl didn’t waste time. He stomped down on a thicker branch, throwing the broken debris toward the tree line. Again and again. You helped move a couple, but there was a fierce force, built of fury and sorrow, in his work that you simply couldn’t keep up with. He was much faster— angrier— and he’d already moved on to the heavier branches.
Too heavy. And for the first time since the bus, he let a hint of emotion show: pain. Physical, you’d bet, from the wince that slipped past his tight jaw. His shoulder was still tender, and moving the bodies earlier had already made it swell.
“Hold up.”
He ignored those small first words. Ignored the care that rooted them, too.
Halfway between the rest of the blockage and the forest, you dropped the branch you were moving when he picked up another heavy one. Daryl was plenty stubborn as it was, but the heartbreak from the bus’ loss made him reckless, too.
“You’ll hurt yourself,” you insisted.
“‘M fine.”
Ironically, his grip slipped from the branch then. The wood dropped, thumping against the cracking concrete below. That short moment of relief invited your hand to softly land on his good shoulder, a gentle reassurance that you were there to help.
You barely got out his name before he yanked back.
“Get your hands off’a me.”
His rough bark forced you a step back, eyes blown wide with shock and glued on that angry blue in his. Maybe you seemed composed, with that firm stance and even breaths, but it felt like your blood had gone cold in an instant. You had no choice but to stand there and wait for the dust of his outburst to settle. All while your heart was slamming against your ribcage so hard you wondered if it could bruise.
And Daryl seemed to notice it; in that split second, he let his eyes flicker from your shocked and hurt expression to your fingers that wouldn’t stop shaking. After that, he wouldn’t meet your stare.
You watched those angel wings, frayed at the seams, as he picked up the log again.
There could be virtue in silence. You knew that— but the last few weeks had instilled an urgency in you. A type of anxiety you’d never felt before, second-guessing every moment you let pass. And against perhaps better judgment, you whispered.
“Please. Don’t do this.”
Daryl knew you didn’t mean the branch anymore.
He stilled. Shoulders stiff and rigid. At first, you weren’t sure if that meant it had been the right thing or not, but then he dropped the log and turned around, and you certainly knew.
That look was back again. Mean and abrasive. Only that time, you swore you could see through it— see the pain that manifested into anger just beyond those narrow blue eyes.
“You don’t ever let up, do ya?” He stepped closer, face reddening and tone cutting. “Told ya ‘m fine.”
“You don’t seem it.”
“The hell you know ‘bout it?” he snapped.
You swallowed. A painful burn caught in your chest, right where that soothing trust and care had made its home.
“Rick and that woman,” you practically pleaded, “I told you I saw them, they could’ve—”
“Right,” he scoffed.
Whatever anger was stoking that fire inside of him seemed to double at your words. Maybe you didn’t know Daryl as well as you thought because you certainly weren’t saying or doing the right things.
“And how the hell we gonna find ‘em?”
“I— I don’t know but there has to be something left—”
“They’re dead,” he sneered.
“You don’t know that.”
“I know your people were huntin’ ‘em down.”
Your face fell.
“Finishin’ what y’all started, huh?”
Maybe you didn’t know his anger. You’d never been good with that, anyway. People seemed to be set off by you; Mitch, Emily. But Daryl knew you. He proved it, right then, as the aftermath of his words burned worse than any cut could.
He always saw you right down to the damn bone. Could pick you apart with his bare hands if he wanted. Even if you had tried to hide the anguish of the knife he stuck in your gut— “your people”— he would’ve seen through it. So you let the confusion, the shock, and the regret, all surface.
Of course, he saw it. Your reaction— your pain. The way you didn’t even try to mask it. Silence stretched, only Daryl’s heavy breaths and a soft breeze of the wind. And as the seconds passed, without a retort to fill the tense air between you, the intensity of that mean stare flickered out like the candles you once warmed the cabin with. But that hint of regret was nothing more than a bandaid over a stab wound; it didn’t soothe the gut-wrenching ache that was reaching up around your throat or prickling your eyes with tears.
Screw saying the right thing.
“We have no idea if they ever even came across one of your friends.” You stepped forward, but you couldn’t stop the shake in your voice or hands. “And they are not my people. I killed them, or did you forget?”
Fire was still burning the tip of his tongue, cruel words threatening to rip free, and if it’d been a year ago, they would’ve. But now, glaring at your thin expression and the glimmer of pain in your eye, he hesitated.
You took that time to make another point, even firmer than the last.
“You’re wrong.”
He didn't curse you out, but his exhausted scoffed was almost as insulting.
“You just saw your people dead, Daryl. You’re scared and—“
“I ain't scared’a nothin’,” he growled.
You bit your lip. God, he was stubborn.
Stubborn, fiery, and hurt.
You peeled back, drowning out the throbbing pain of that wound in your own chest with a heavy dose of empathy, and reiterated slowly, “You’re wrong.”
Another breeze of wind rushed past the two of you, drifting through that shrinking space between his heaving chest and your assertive stare.
It carried a rustle in the trees too, one that localized on a spot of shifting branches and fluttering leaves to your left.
Daryl looked first.
The break of his glare welcomed a slight ease to that thick air. You took a deep breath and steadied yourself as a walker broke through the woods. Its yellow eyes were already targeted at the fleshy, warm body of the man who’d lead it there, with those lively lungs and sharp tongue.
He approached the walker with that same heaviness about him. Perhaps it was the weight of your lingering stare across his back. His arm raised with the knife, then stabbed. Just as the body did, his shoulders slumped. Head bowed as he stared at the crumpled corpse a second too long.
In that same second, your throat tightened, and the tears threatened to spill again. A devastating ache formed in your chest because you could practically see Daryl's resolve crumble. From the bus’ discovery to the roadblock to this— losing every last bit of hope, slowly but surely, until even that trust and care, built over nights by candlelight and soft promises to fix your wrongdoings, to fix his shoulder, to fix him, felt dull.
You thought of the forgiveness he’d once spared, only to be pulled right back down into that festering pit of ugly guilt and regret.
Blame.
Daryl took his time to clean the blade of dark blood before sheathing it. And as the moment stretched, staring at the broad shoulders you’d patched up over and over, your thoughts began to pick up speed. Worries drumming your heart against your ribs, again.
You swallowed, shook your head as if it might clear, and climbed into the driver’s seat. But the unease followed— it always did.
What if this was it?
In the rearview mirror, you caught sight of the dead walker lying on the road. Daryl’s hunched figure missing. And the race of your heart came to a lurching stop, then.
Would he really—?
The passenger door opened. Without a word, he sat, and your heart started again.
No.
He wouldn't.
You steered through the new opening, tires crunching the remnants of branches, and continued down the clear road ahead.
It was quiet again. This time, though, you weren't fidgeting in your seat or dying to get a glance at the man beside you. No. You just drove until the stars came out.
The side of the road was as good a spot as any, you thought. Daryl didn’t seem to have an objection, either; his mouth was still in that same pensive line when you finally turned toward him. His elbow rested on the edge of the window as he chewed on his thumb, heavy eyes fallen. There was no doubt he could feel your stare burn into his side, that he heard you turn, or could feel the tension heighten as you waited for him to meet your look. But he wouldn’t, for whatever reason.
Would your tired expression, dwindled from weeks of guilt, trauma, and physical exhaustion, set him off again? Or would it break him down, deeper?
With nothing more than a heavy sigh, you fell against the headrest. You stared into the dark world ahead, only visible by the short reach of the car’s interior light. It burned your eyes, shining down at the nasty, ugly tension that had settled between you and the man you trusted so fiercely.
You turned off the light.
“It's my turn for first watch.”
Even in the dark, you could see his hand finally drop from his chin. His arm stretched, resting across the window ridge.
“Ain’t tired.”
He finally spoke. Two little words that made you tighten your grip around the steering wheel in a split second of frustration. You finally had the voice to speak, after years of biting your tongue, and yet… you had no idea what you needed to say.
Want was another story. Because even after everything, good and bad, there was no reason you deserved that jab about the gas station. Not when it’d been you that pulled him, bloody and half dead, from that mess. That nursed him back to health and never said a word about his loose lips, spilling regrets about his own (failed) search for the Governor. Never asked him that dreaded thought that’d been lingering in the back of your head— if he’d only forgiven you for the prison because he was too busy blaming himself.
You wanted a lot. Wanted to go back and change the way things played out. To save more people, to find Daryl and the prison before it fell, to—
But you were tired. Too tired for wants, tonight.
“Fine,” you sighed. “Wake me up when you are.”

Summary: Your town was small, not the smallest you knew, but anyone of high fortune was the gossip of the week. Predictably, Richard Grimes was a thing of whispers -rumors of a search for marriage among the grassy hills. You weren't one to buy into town gossip, but something about him... just seemed a little too intriguing.
TWS: drama, yelling, crying, death mention, dueling mention, gun violence mention, mentioned infidelity, and angst.
[[A/N: Drama, have you ever wanted a man to duel over you??? Well, you just might get thatttt, you'll have to see :)))!!! Also, I know I promised The Nurse next, but my one true love regency drama got in the way. I'm so sorry!!! But soon, I swear. Enjoy this, for now, ly all <3 ]]
You hadn't heard it from him. That was what had bothered you the most, really, is that you heard through someone else -the whispers of the street. They had graced your ears before he had even stepped to tell you.
Your Headmistress was frozen, words that you couldn't hear echoing through the air and it almost felt like the entire square froze. Like the world had frozen right as your heart stuttered in your chest, your ears ringing, and your hands were shaking-
"Darling? Darling-" Headmistress was all you could see -big brown eyes peering at you in a concern you felt was rather unmatched, "-hey look at me, will you? 'Can't have you fainting in the square-"
Her voice wasn't her anymore, rather, a sort of muffled noise in the back of your head. Your throat felt dry, and suddenly, it felt as though you couldn't breathe. Like your lungs were tied with a rope, and no matter how hard you tried, they would not fill. Something in your head spun and your stomach twisted -a fear that gripped you unlike anything else you'd ever been afraid of.
The words, although they seemed to be in a tone you knew to be gossip, felt so real -bouncing around your skull.
"There is to be a duel in two days' time. The Grimes heir and the man who captured the heart of his estranged wife! Just dreadful."
"A little late for such a battle, is it not?"
You didn't know the women who spoke them, all big hats and lacy dresses -any feature you could see didn't ring to be familiar. The two spoke as if it were nothing. As if he wasn't... As if that wasn't a life-
"I'd hate to be the mistress."
"Darling," you felt hands holding your arms -guiding you, "-let's return to the carriage at once, such trips can happen later-"
You couldn't even remember the purpose now, your mind a rather foggy place, and all you could really hear was the pounding of your heart in your chest. It was a heavy sort of thud that rattled your head, and your breathing could hardly catch up. Yet, the Headmistress's steps were sure and evenly tempered -quick as to not let anyone see you in such a state. There were already rumors about your family, they truly didn't need to know more.
Before you could truly blink, you were brought into the carriage -the door shutting effectively silencing your brain. The buzz of the crowd was now not overwhelming, and yet, you still felt as if the wind had flown out of your lungs. Like the ground had crumbled beneath your feet like your entire world had shifted-
"Y/N dear, please, breathe."
You blinked, swallowing, fingertips brushing against the cushioned seats -bringing yourself down. Each breath is a slow, deep inhale, and your nails push into the fabric to keep you there. To steady you, as the roar of your heart became timid in the silence -quiet.
"D-Did you know?" you asked -slowly and shaky, there was something in your throat-
"No," she answered quickly, "-no. I know I've done my misdeeds, but believe me when I say this... This is something I would've told you."
"Do you-" you started, "-do you believe there could be truth to it? Could he-"
"Stop, no. We'll get nowhere with such conspiracies," Headmistress shushed, sitting forward to open the door ever-so-slightly -speaking to the driver, you assumed, "-it's best we hear it directly from the source."
That brought you to now, the Headmistress guiding you by the arm up the stairs to the Grimes estate -her stance was one of anger, and each worker almost seemed to be widely avoiding the both of you because of it.
Her face had twisted into a rather sour frown, the wrinkles in her face more prominent than you had ever seen them - a heavy furrow resting upon her eyebrows. It was all pinched together -you could feel such frustration, and you were sure if she had not held you by the arm, you would've run in the other direction as well.
And it only pushed forward, through doors through startled faces and orders halted on their lips -you were quite sure you had seen Mr. Dixon somewhere along the mix. You weren't focused though, everything grew rather blurry as tears began to gather behind your eyes -you merely wiped them away. You couldn't give any extra thought to them. You had too much to think about, too much-
Headmistress pushed open the door to his office like it was a public ladies' room, like she had every right to be there and like it was her own. Her face had not let up a smidge, the sour look only grew more bitter by the moment -the frown pulled further down her face and her hand grasping you ever so tighter. Mr. Grimes startled for a moment, standing at his feet at the sight of you -almost like he couldn't help it.
His eyes dipped to your red cheeks, evidence of you crying, and you watched the flex of his hand -as if he wished to wipe them away himself. Something in your stomach twisted.
"Ms. Elisa, Ms. Greene-" he breathed out -something like concern hidden deep in his tone, "-a lovely surprise. If you would've let me, I would've walked the two of ya in-"
"Mr. Grimes," your Headmistress interrupted -strong and confident, unwavering, "-we have come upon some rather disparaging news. I wish to have you settle the truth of such things."
He stilled, slightly, a leak of his composure and you were certain it had gone under Headmistress's radar but it hadn't your own. You could tell such things, his eyes spoke volumes but learning his tics had been something delightful for yourself. It felt rather distant now.
Your mouth opened before you could rationalize it, "Headmistress? May I... May I speak with him alone?"
She paused, brown eyes turning to you -flickering over your figure, "If you wish to, of course, dear, but-"
"I wish to," you answered, frankly, the sniffle of your nose rather loud in such a thick layer of tension, "-I believe I shall ask him such things on my own."
"If you insist," Headmistress frowned slightly, before squeezing your arm once -comforting, and stepping aside, "-I'll be by the door."
She spoke only to you, rather cold to the man in the room, but you knew of her reasons. She was always stubborn in such things, especially with things considering you or your sisters. You, briefly, wondered how long it would take her to forgive such faults.
Mr. Grimes spoke first, a sort of desperate plea hanging out in the empty air, "Ms. Greene-"
You sniffled, wiping at the bottom of your eye -hoping to clear up what you had shed, "Mr. Grimes, I believe you know why I'm here."
There was a long silence then, as he merely looked over you and you saw his hand fidget over his handkerchief for a split second before falling to his side once more. He looked at though he itched to approach you then, to care for you. You truly weren't sure how to feel.
"I do," he responded -finally.
"Then," you cleared your throat from the biting back of a sob, "-you must know of what I'm asking."
"I do..."
"Tell me," you started, slow and you could already feel the tears build up again, "-Tell me if it's true."
He spoke, a low, tired tone, "Ms. Greene, I never intended-"
"Do you not wish me to believe it?" you questioned, the silence in the room a thick layer of tension draped over the air -it almost felt choking.
He faltered, "Ms. Greene..."
"Then, tell me it isn't true. Tell me that it's all made up and I shall believe you-" you spoke in a rising sort of pitch before it all fell once more -desperation edging along your words, "-But... I believe you cannot tell me such a thing is a lie."
Mr. Grimes remained silent then, eyes rather downcast and despite his standing, he still felt sunk in. Hiding, ashamed. Like he had known this was the outcome.
And... perhaps he did.
Something in your chest snapped, despite asking, you hadn't expected the answer, "It's true, isn't it?"
"He spoke to me soon after ya left my estate," he spoke, a sort of desperate sort of tone -explaining, "-wouldn't leave until I spoke to him."
"He challenged you."
"He wasn't..." he sighed, a deep sort of heavy one, "-I could tell he wasn't of a right mind. I should've refused to speak to 'im-"
"What of the children?" you spoke, it all sounded sort of hollow now, "-what of... What of me, if you... if you-"
"Ms. Greene," he hummed, carefully, slowly, "-I hadn't... I didn't believe anyone had heard him. I didn't- I hadn't answered, he wasn't of the right mind. And then-"
"Someone heard you," you spoke, gathering the path on your own, "-and you were proposed again."
"Yes," he continued -defeated, almost, "-and a man propositioned to a duel would be a fool to refuse."
"You would be an alive fool," you spoke, now close to him -hands itching to reach out, to feel him beneath your fingertips, warm, breathing, "-alive."
"Y/N, please."
"Don't," you relented, "-don't speak as if you don't have a choice. You do."
"It is a matter of honor," Mr. Grimes continued -heavy with purpose, "-and I won't 'ave my name dragged through the dirt by someone who I used to trust the most."
"You wished to marry me," your voice broke -something in you grieving, "-how am I to marry a dead man?"
"Y/N, I wish to marry you, presently. This does not change-"
"No, I-" you cleared your throat, stepping back a measured few steps -clearing your throat, "-I cannot be promised to a man who may be dead in a few days' time. You must understand my worry."
"'Course, I do," he answered, moving forward the steps you took back staying within your space, "-I... I cannot imagine."
"And yet," you responded -broken and angry, "-you instill such an experience on me. On your children?"
"Ms. Greene-"
"I just wish to understand," you hummed -something forlorn in your tone, "-but I'm not certain I ever will."
"It's not-" he started, before breaking off, "-I did not think of it 'at way, but you... I can't-"
"I love you," you echoed, "-and if I... It's too short, I wish to have it much longer."
"You will," Mr. Grimes spoke -desperately, "-you will."
"It's one thing to say and another to know, Mr. Grimes."
"Y/N-"
"No, I-" you cleared your throat -straightening slightly, and dabbing at your eyes, "-I have things to attend to."
"Please, don't leave on such a note-"
"Mr. Grimes," you spoke lightly -tears gathering behind your eyes, "-I love you, truly beyond belief. Stay alive."
"Y/N..."
"Please, I-" you breathed out -voice shaking, "-I can't... I can't stay here any longer."
Mr. Grimes opened his mouth, but you couldn't listen, not then. Mind running a mile a minute, your brain seemed to fuzz along the edges. You swore you were getting dizzy-
You merely curtsied and headed out of the office. You heard him, calling to you, but you refused to turn back -something in you ripped open and vulnerable, you needed to go home. And perhaps such a thought was selfish, leaving such a man begging for you to speak.
But, you couldn't. Not now. The weight of a bullet heavy on your brain, you couldn't look him in the eye with the possibility it might be the last time-
The last time, it bounced around your head and didn't stop. Even when the Headmistress rushed to your side -keeping up with your footsteps, even on the carriage ride home, even in your bedroom that night -staring upon the dark vast ceiling. Maggie was just beside you -comfortably asleep; you, on the other hand, tugged the blanket tighter around yourself.
Hoping for dreams of a berry basket and blue eyes, in a much simpler world. Just you and him in a market stall. Where had such thoughts gone?

wordcount 7.5k
carl placed down a red uno card, i smiled at that, placing down my red 5, "uno!" i shouted, holding the card close to my chest so they couldnt peek, my smile was soon dropped as enid placed down a green 2, i stood up placing my card down, revealing my red 4 to them, "i already lost" i mumbled, "rage quiter" carl called me, "im not a rage quitter! im just done playing with cheaters" i crossed my arms
"you so are a rage quitter aimees!" enid exclaimed, "and you so are a cheater!" i exclaimed back, "how are we cheating?" carl asked, "uh, cause you guys just are" i shrugged
"yeah right" carl scoffed jokingly
i watched them as they finished playing their uno game, enid ended up winning, "what time is it?" enid asked as she collected the messy cards around the table and placed them in the box
"uhhh.." i stood up, peeking my head in the kitchen to check the clock, "9:45" i yawned, i had woken up at 5am to go on a run and my eyes were getting heavy, ive been waiting for dad to get back but he hasnt yet.
"i think im gonna head back" i said, one thing about me is that even after being here for almost a year now, i still havent gotten use to sleeping in a real bed, at night in a real house, and i still have yet to call where i was staying, 'my home'
"yeah, me too" enid stood up aswell, "uhm.. enid?" i asked her, she knew what i was about to ask immediately, i hated sleeping alone, anytime my dad was out, i would ask enid to sleepover with me
enid gave me a sad-eyed look, "im sorry amiees, but i told maggie and glenn i'd be home for tonight" i shook my head with a small smile, "no worries, goodnight enid" i waves her off, she gave me a slight nod before she existed the house
i walked into the kicthen, carl was placing the snacks away, "hey" i said, he looked over his shoulder, his white eyepatch covering his old wound, "hey, i thought you weny home, whats up?" he asked, turning to face me
"could you please stay with me tonight? daryl hasnt gotten back yet, and enid needed to get home" i asked, "yea, let me just write my dad a note" he nodded with a smile
-
"hey, aimees" i heard a voice shake me awake, the sudden touch made me shot up and pull out my pocket knife that was under my pillow, but i immediately put it down when i realized it was just carl
"shit, you scared me" i panted, placing my knife back under my pillow, "sorry, i didnt mean to, but its almost 6:30 and im pretty sure your dads home" he said, his eye was tired and his hair was scruffy, meaning he had just woken up, but the topic of my dad made me shot out of bed, only in my socks, pajama plaid pants, and a thickstrap white tanktop without a bra, carl wore a grey hanley shirt and sweatpants
i opened up my door and ran down the steps, my dad was in the kicthen, talking to some other people but i didnt really care about them or have time to see who it was, i just ran up to my dad and hugged him which he of course hug back
"fuck you, you said you'd be back in a day!" i exclaimed as i pulled away, "i know, im sorry aimees, the storm slowed us down" he replied looking down at me, i knew the reason why he took an extra day was because of the rain storm but i couldnt care less, i still worried the worse possible thing
"i dont really care dad, you still said a day" i said with my head tilted, i wasnt actually mad, and he knew that, i was just annoyed that it took longer then normal and missed him
"yeah, i know, i missed you too" he rubbed my back gently, "can we have breakfast together? or are you gonna go back out again" i asked, "uh.." he hummed, i sighed, thinking he had to go back out again, but his gaze was around the room and not on me, i thought maybe he was looking at carl, but im always with either him or enid when he gets back
i turned my head to see what he was looking at, 2 people i've never seen before stood awkwardly a couple feet away from me, there was a man about the same age as my dad, and a girl about my age, the girl wore a white tanktop similar to mine with a white bandage around her right arm, with black skinny jeans, and converse. she had a side bang and her brown hair in a ponytail
"uh-" i stood there for a moment, before looking back to my dad, "are these the people?" i asked, he nodded slightly, i glanced back over to them, and back at my dad, "why are they here?" i asked, over the months, my dad and aaron have been bringing people and even a whole community back, they never once came to our house right, i mean maybe a few says after to stop by and say thanks or whatever, but they had just gotten here and were standing in our kicthen, dirt and sweat stuck to their skin
"ricks still out with michonne so i was tellin them the rules, and you're gonna give ellie some of your clothes" he pointed briefly at the girl, i turned back around, i nodded, i turned my head back to see carl standing there awkwardly too, "im ellie" the girl waved, her face was red, she. must be hot, i went to intruduce myself but the girl bumped her elbow into the man, motioning for him to intruduce himself, "im joel" he said, "hi.. im carl" carl said, standing behind me, "im aime" i smiled, i was actually quite happy dad brought home a girl my age, although carl and enid denied them dating, i still felt like i was always third wheeling
"aimees, why dont you go show them to their house next door, i havent slept in days" i didnt have time to reply as he walked off
"okay.." i mumbled, i looked down to my pajamas hanging over my socks, "uh, could you guys give us a second?" i asked, looking at joel and ellie, joel gave a stern nod, i looked over at carl, grabbing his wrist and led him away with me, i could feel the girls eyes on me as i left.
"i hated meeting new people before the dead started walking, and i hate it even more now" i whispered to carl as we walked up the steps, "yeah, i can tell" he said sarcastically, i shoved him as he hit the wall which made us both laugh
carl changed in my bathroom, as i changed in my room, putting on jeans, a bra, my shoes, and my holster with my gun and knife
"you coming with me to give them a tour right?" i asked carl, looking at him, "nah" he shrugged, i hit his shoulder, "yes you are" i yelled whispered, before we entered the kitchen, joel was in the same spot, while ellie was close up at an old family photo of me, my dad, and my mom
"sorry for the wait, we just woke up" i spoke, causing ellie and joel to look up from my sudden voice, "lets go" i nodded, as they followed me out my house
"uh, so, your guy's house is right next to mine" i said as i began to walk up the steps of the empty house, "hey aimees, im gonna go see if enid and maggie need help with the fence" he said from behind joel and ellie, ellie glanced at carl, but joels eyes stayed locked on ellie, i slowly died inside when he said that, i could tell ellie was looking at me but i still flipped off carl as he walked away with a smirk
"so where you guys from?" i asked, "houston" joel answered, that explains the accent, "boston" ellie answered, i looked at them confused, "oh you guys arent father and daughter? how do you know each other?" i asked, "long story" ellie answered, "okay, well, i mean.. this is your house, uhh, i dont think theres any blankets in your bedrooms and theres not any food, clothes or shower stuff, so you guys can like, i dont know, get situated? while i ran around alexandria and collect you guys a bunch of shit" i shrugged, unsure of what else to say
they both nodded, "ill try not to take to long, ill be back in maybe 30 minutes?" i said, unsure myself of how long it would take, "okay, thank you aime" joel nodded, "oh, uh, i know i introduced myself as aime but actually call me aimees, nobody calls me aime its actually kinda weird.. okay, see you" i said as i speed walked out the house
i walked in my house and let out the biggest sigh.
that was the most awkwardest thing ever.
i walked to my room, and took out about half my clothes for ellie, she only had a small school bookbag, so she probably only had a pair of underwear and some socks in there, if she was gonna live here now, she needed clothes
i folded them up, i was giving her my dark blue tanktop with spaghetti straps that was starting to fade, a grey tanktop with thick straps, a tan hanley that was too tight to fit me, a plaid flannel, light blue jeans, jean shorts, plaid pajama pants, 2 pairs of underwear, a black bra, and a pair of thick white socks. i hope thats good enough
i grabbed a basket and set everything in it, i opened the closet next to my bathroom, placing body washes, shampoos, and conditioners in the basket, along with 2 toothbrushes, 2 things of toothpaste, and a razor and tampons for ellie
i figured i'd drop what i had off right now since they we're probably dying for a shower, plus the basket was over flowing
i knocked on there door, but nobody came, i went to knock again but a voice from inside came- "COMING!" i could tell by the voice that it was ellie, as joels is 10 times deeper and has no emotion
i waited for a moment before the door opened, "hi ellie" i greeted, she stood there looking at me for a moment, she seemed she was deep in thought, "oh! sorry, come in" she said, opening the door wider, i smiled walking in, she shut the door behind me, "i- i dont have everything right i just brought clothes and shower stuff since i figured that was probably the first thing you would want to do, and while your showering i was gonna get the rest" i said, basket in hand
"oh- right- yeah, thank you" she said, taking the basket from me, "i didnt bring any clothes for joel cause i dont know where to get him any and my dad was asleep, but ill work on finding him stuff" i added, she nodded looking up at me, "hes passed out right now, and probably will be for the rest of the day" she shrugged, i laughed at her saying it so serious, she laughed with me, "okay, well, enjoy your shower.. im supposed to tell you to not use up too much hot water, but knock yourself out, i mean, i know on my first day i did" i said before i left her house
-
its been a 3 days since ellie and joel joined alexandria, ellie hasnt really gone outside at all, i havent really seen her since the first day of her being here, only through our windows, our rooms are both upstairs and our windows face eachother, they have blinds but i didnt realize her room was the one across from mine until i was about to sneak out of my window for a smoke the other night
joel been out a lot more then ellie, asking ways to help out, joel was scary, i avoided him, but to be fair, i avoided everyone who wasnt from the orginal group or who wasnt in alexandria when we got there
just like deanna had done for us way back at the start, carol was throwing a welcome party for ellie and joel, i knew carol didnt really care for them joining us, it was just her way of making herself seem like an innocent sweetheart. i admired her tactics, but i definitely was not looking forward to it.
"you guys are going to the party right?" i asked carl and enid, "my dads gonna make me" carl answered, i looked over to enid, she shrugged, "i dont know"
carl smiled, as we both looked at enid for an answer, "still don't know if ill go, i always thought it was stupid and weird when deanna had them and now carols having them?" enid said, "okay well, youll be missing out" i sighed
-
here i was, walking to the house with open doors and music pouring out of it, my dad was by my side, "you know, ellies also 16, you should try to be friends with her" he said, "yea, yea, yea, i know thats the only thing youve been telling me for the past 2 weeks, 'oh youll love her, you guys would be best friends, she annoys the shit out of this guy like how you annoy the shit out of me'" i mocked my dads deep voice, thinking back to how he would come back from spying on them to see if they were safe and tell me about ellie
"she hasnt come out of her shell yet, but i do really think you'd make a great pair" he said as we walked into the house, "im gonna go get a drink and find rick, go find ellie" he pushed me into the crowd, i scoffed, he acts like hes social when i know damn well the only people he'll be talking to is rick and carol.
i searched the crowd for carl, i couldnt find him but i did see ellie with her arms crossed talking with joel, she looked so uncomfortable and so did he, god do i feel bad
i walked through the crowd, making my way to them, while i was making my way to them, some people pulled joel away to get a drink- or whatever adults do
ellie looked clueless
"hey" i said, placing a hand on her shoulder to let her know i was there over the loud music, she jumped and looked at me, "oh, hi" she said, i could hear the nervousness in her voice, "im sorry about all this, you're practically being forced to go somewhere you dont want go to and forced to talk with people you dont know, i told rick and carol you guys werent the party type but they insisted it was the 'polite thing to do'" i explained, putting airquotes for my last words
ellie seemed to soften a bit at my words, "uh- yea, its just super weird going to a party when 5 days ago you were sweating your ass off trying to find a place to stay the night" she said, looking around, "yeah, trust me, i know how you feel, we didnt create this place, me and my group got taken in by aaron and his boyfriend, the leader at the time was named deanna, she threw a party for us too, and when she died, the leader of my group took over to be the leader of alexandria.. rick" i explained
"wheres your boyfriend?" ellie randomly asked, i furred my brows, "what?" i asked, "uh, the one with the long hair and eyepatch" she asked, "carl?" i asked in a high pitch questioning voics, "oh, yeah, carl" she nodded, "carl?" i asked again, she thinks im dating carl? "yeah?" she asked confused, "oh god, me and carl are like siblings, never in infinity years would we ever date! im gonna puke just thinking of that!" i exaggerated, "oh sorry, its just, my first day here, you guys came out of the same room together in your pajamas and stuff"
"oh! yea, he just slept over, i hate being alone" i explained, "me too" she said with a smile, "sorry, but can we please go somwhere else? i cant stand this crowd" i asked, she nodded, i took her hand in mine, dragging her through the crowd until i found carols bedroom, she wouldnt mind us being in here
"what do you like? any hobbies?" i asked, sitting on the edge of carols bed, ellie sat down next to me, "i love comics, joel somehow finds the best ones, and i have a notebook that i write and draw in" she said happily, "oh no shit? i love comics and drawing too!" i said back with a smile
"so have you and joel been with each other for awhile? he seems pretty protective over you" i asked, "just like, 3 years, but i cant imagine my life without him" she smiled, "i cant imagine my life without my dad, or without a lot of the orginal group, like rick, glenn, carl, carol, maggie, michonne, half the people here are my family"
-
i spent the whole night talking with ellie, she was actually really nice and funny, we told eachother a bunch of our crazy/scary stories from over the years, and what it was like for life before it
carl and enid never showed up, i told her a lot about them, more so carl since me and carl have been together since the start, we grew up together and i dont know what i would do if he died
but we had stayed after hours not realizing the party ended, still in carols room, she opened the door with an exhausted look, she didnt notice us, me and ellie side eyed eachother before we bursted out laughing
that seemed to be a reoccurring occurrence between the two of us, we both kept on bursting out laughing at stupid stuff
but at the sight of ellie, carol put on her sweetheart face again, "oh! girls, im sorry i didnt know you were in here" she said, bringing a hand to her chest, "the parties over?" i asked, after calming down from laughter, "yes, it just ended, and joel was looking for you ellie, you better get back home before he starts to worry more" carol said with a smile, "yeah, thanks for the party mrs.." ellie said as we stood up, "just call me carol, oh and you too aimees, daryl was wandering around for you" she smiled with a nod
and with that me and ellie left her house, as soon as we got out of her house i let out a giggle, "its the end of the world and you're still worried about manners?" i thought outloud, thinking back to how she tried to call carol mrs, "hey! you never know, some adults are really strict about that stuff" she defended
"okay, i guess ill see you tomorrow?" i asked, as we made it infront of her house, "yea sound-" ellie was interrupted with joel yelling her name, "ellie! i looked everywhere for you! where were you? i havent seen you since the party started-"
i just smiled at joels protectiveness and slipped myself away and went back to my house
"hey dad" i smiled, seeing him on the couch, "oh good, i was waiting for you to come back so i could sleep" he said getting up, "you seem happy?" he questioned, i hated parties, so this was weird that i was smiling a bunch after one, "yeah! i hung out with ellie the whole time, shes really funny! i really like her" i said with a hudge grin, "told you, you'd like her" he nodded, not supprised
"so was it just the two of you or was carl and enid there? i didnt see them tonight" he asked, now leaning against the kitchen counter, "just us, i have no idea where carl and enid are, which kind of sucks since i wanted ellie to meet them, but also its good because i really enjoyed hanging out with her alone" i said, my voice bright from talking with ellie for hours
"im glad you had fun" he nodded with a smile, "oh! do you wanna know what! now when i hangout with carl and enid, ellie will be there, so i dont have to third wheel, i mean they were always being so gross infront of me like complimenting each other and stuff, like ew, and now me and ellie can be grossed out together!" i said happily, my dad laughed, "im glad we found ellie and joel too, can you please tell me more in the morning over breakfast? im ready for bed"
"yea, of course, goodnight dad, i love you" i said, giving him a quick hug, "love you sweetheart, get to bed too, its way past when you should be asleep" he said, kissing me on my head, "yea.. yea, whatever" i mumbled sarcasticly as he walked to his bedroom
i turned off the lights and went to my bedroom, i unbuttoned my jeans and went to pull them off when i felt something in my pocket, i sighed, forgetting i had it, as i pulled out the bag of joints
this would have been perfect for me and ellie, would of been 10x funner.
but, i wasnt tired, and now that i was holding up the rolled up cannabis, i really, really wanted it.
i thought about carl and enid, enids never been high before, but me and carl have a few times, and i don't even know where they are. maybe i can have just one joint to myself..
another thing i do on nights when im not tired, is go to my roof and look at the stars, usually while i smoke cigarettes but weeds even better.
i looked out my window to see that the sky was clear, i smiled to myself, i walked over and turned off my lamp, okay, only one. i placed the other two joints in the bag in between my folded shirt in my dresser, letting the one joint hang in between my lips
i opened up my window, cringing at the squeeked noise, i stuck my legs out, letting myself fall onto the roof, i climbed to the back of my house still on the roof so i was facing the big fence and not out in the open, the only way people would be able to see me is if someone specifically looked in my direction through ellies window
i pulled out my lighter and lit the weed, sucking the toxins into my lungs before blowing out
i sat there for a couple minutes looking at the stars above me, they always fasanated me, i looked to the moon, it was a full moon tonight, of maybe it was a just a full waning or waxing gibbous, i dont know to be honest
the sound of a window opening drawed my attention, i shot my head to the sound, joint in between my lips, to see ellie climbing out of her window
i watched as she hopped onto her roof, shutting her window, and hopped from her roof to mine, as our houses were really close together, she let out a pant, from being out of breath
"hey" she said as she stood there above me, she had already changed into pajamas, wearing plaid baggy ones that were too long for her, ones that were previously mine, and she wore the grey thick strapped tanktop i had also given her
her hair was down, something ive never seen of ellie, some of her auburn hair was over shoulders while some was on her back, they reached a couple inches unde her shoulders and her eyes glistened in the moonlight
"uh, aimees? you barley smoked any of that, you good?" she asked with a smile on her face, "oh, yea, im-" i started saying, realizing i just stared at her, but i spoke really loud as i talked not realizing how loud i was being, "shh! come on, i dont want joel or your dad to wake up" she whisper shouted
"right, sorry" i whispered back, she came over to me and sat down, "can i?" she asked, reaching her hand out, i passed her the joint, and watched her as she looked up to the sky, while taking a long drag of it, she closed her eyes as she sucked it, enjoying the feeling
my eyes were beading onto her, watching every detail on her face, the way her eyebrows slightly scrunched as she sucked in, or how she squeezed her eyes, how her soft pink lips fitted against the rolling paper. i was so close to her our shoulders were brushing against each other, and i noticed things about her that i havent noticed before, she had beautiful green eyes, ive noticed her eyes being not brown before, but now i could actually see what color they were, and her freckles complimented her face so well, they danced all around her cheeks and the tip of her button nose. i even got to exaime her brown eyebrows, i could see the slit she had through it, her eyebrows were also pretty straight, but they looked so perfect on her. her side profile was honestly the best ive ever seen in my whole life. the way her lips moved out, how her adorable nose arched perfectly and how- wait are her lips moving?
"aimees?" she asked, okay yeah they were, "sorry, what?" i asked, looking into her eyes, "you zoned out on me again" she commented, "sorry its just, you look really pretty" i said, still mesmerizing her in a trance, she turned to me, i could see her cheeks turning a shade of pink, before she looked back infront of us
thats kind of weird, i mean, i was just saying she looked pretty, i say that to enid all the time and she just compliments me back or says thanks, but ellie got flustered for some reason and tried to hide her face with no comments
we passed the weed arond in silence for a moment, "you do this a lot?" she asked, "usually just with cigarettes, but i got lucky and found this on a run a few weeks ago.. i love the stars"
"i love the moon" she remarked, i looked to her with a smile on my face, "if i could anywhere i'd go there" she said, looking at the moon above her, "can i come with?" i asked, she turned to me, our faces inches apart, "yeah but.. be aware, joels coming too, and hes a big grump sometimes" she answered, i laughed at that, giggling as i rested my forehead on her shoulder to contain myself, i hear giggles come from her too
"okay, shh, shh we have to be quiet" i whispered, leaning back up to face her, "youre telling me to be quiet? youre the one who started laughing!" she said with a smile as the joint hung between her fingers, "urhg, give me that" i said, taking the joint from her and puffing a few
"its not my fault, you make me laugh more then like, anyone ive ever met" i said after a couple seconds in silence, "really?" she asked looking back to me, "mhm" i nodded, letting out another giggle at nothing, which caused ellie to giggle with me too, we fell onto eachother laughing up a storm, "oh! oh my god! i cant breath!" ellie said inbetween laughs, "stop!" i cried, gripping her thigh for support, trying to catch my breath
we kept on laughing like that for probably too long, after a few minutes, i ended up even closer then before, our laughter dying down but smiles still held on our faces
"whats your last name?" i asked her out of the blue, which caused us to laugh a little some more, "williams?" she sid in a questioning tone, "w-why did you say it like that? are you sure thats your last name or did you make it up because-"
"no! no! thats real, my last name is williams, i was just- cause you asked so randomly!" she explained, "okay, well, ellie williams, you-" i said, pointing at her and using a tone for the word you, "-are my new favorite person"
"and you- aime-" she stopped for a moment, "whats your last name?" she whispered, "dixon" i whispered back, "you! aime dixon, are my new favorite person" she said, usuing a tone and pointing at me for you like i did, but usuing a tone and pointing at herself for me
this caused us both to laugh again, i guess weed made us a bit giggly, we seemed to be eliciting laughter not matter what
"you know what we should do?" i asked, "hmm?" she hummed, i took a puff a weed, noticing it was almost all gone, "we should get married"
i noticed her cheeks start to turn red, "i mean, how could i not want to marry you! look how cute you are with your blushing" i said with a hudge smile, "i accept, mrs williams" ellie said to me with blush still wearing her face, "aime williams! hm, i like the sound of that!" i laughed
"hey, i have idea" i said, looking down at the blunt, "yea wife?" she asked, "my dear husband, we could finish this joint in one puff, shall i shotgun it to you?" i asked with a smirk, "first of all, wife, im your wife, secondly, i dont know what that is" she deadpanned, i let out a couple giggles from her
"okay, well if im the wife, how can you be the wife? anyways, why dont i just show you what a shotgun is?" i offered, still smirking, "hmm, okay fine" she said with a smile, unsure with what was to come
i smirked devilishly, i blew the rest of the joint into my mouth, before flicking it off the house, i brought my hands to ellies face, moving her face to mine, my eyes were closed but i could tell she was blushing
ellies mouth was slightly ajar in shock, so i blew the smoke into her mouth, the feeling of her warm, soft, silk lips, her nose tickling with mine and the way my stomach was attacking itself with a swarm of butterflies from us touching like this
the weed did something to me, because i couldnt help myself, and without any thoughts, only the feeling of want, i pressed my lips more firm to hers, and moved them onto hers, my lips were dancing on hers and she didnt move.
i lifted my lips up for a split second, releasing the smoke from our mouths, i pulled away, realizing what i had just done, my eyes started to feel with tears looking down at her, my hands still holding her face, only inches away. i was so goddamn embarrassed and mad at myself. why the fuck would i do that? i dont even like girls, im not gay, and i definitely dont like a girl i just met 4 days ago. it had to be the weed because im not a lesbian, and judged by the complete silence between us, and ellies face, she isnt eithe-
my angered thoughts were interrupted as ellie leaned into me, tilted her head as she pressed her blushed face to mine, now our lips danced together, i could smell her breath, it smelt of mint toothpaste and marijuana, but i wanted more of it, i wanted to taste it
as ellies hands gripped my shoulders, and mine gripped her face, i brushed my tongue against her lips, getting a slight taste of her, she didnt open her mouth, so i took my left hand from her cheek and placed it on her waist, rubbing her skin and plulling her closer to me, the sudden contact made her mouth open slightly, and i took that as an opportunity to slip my tongue into hers
not only was the smell of marijuana filling my nose, but the smell of the shampoo i gave her was lingering, i think the scent was lavander, either way, it smelt good, delicious, and i wanted even more
i honestly was starting to feel lightheaded and dizzy, so i pulled away for a moment, i sucked in the air to catch my breath, but my mouth was covered again by ellies lips
this time, her tongue filled my mouth, our tongues danced, as i started to fall backwards from her leaning on me, i felt so carried away and a feeling i never felt before filled my body
i pulled away from her, standing up and dragging her up with me, we had our foreheads pressed together, panting, "come on" i whispered, as i looked into her red eyes, i pulled away from our embrace, taking her hand in mind, pulling her to the side of my window, i climbed in first, helping her climb in too
once she got in, i shut the window and shut the blinds, our light pants cramming the room, i turned around to for a pair of hands pressing against my waist and shoving me against the wall, i was met once again with her lips
i couldn't help, from the sudden action, and melting deep into the kiss, and the feeling of her hands rubbing on me, i let out a small moan into her mouth, i hadnt realized it until it already left
my cheeks went red from embarrassment, hoping she didnt hear, but she pulled away, i couldnt bare to look her in her eyes, i stared at the ground, looking down at our socked feet on the carpet
ellies right hand moved off of my waist, i thought she was about to freak out and leave or something, but she placed a hand on my chin, and lifted it so my face was forced to meet hers, i expected her face to be filled with disgust, but she had a smirk on her face, her freckled cheeks bright red
"dont be shy, you have a pretty voice" she whispered, butterflies formed my heat. not my stomach, but below.
i looked at her dumbfounded, i never felt this way before. i didnt know what was going to happen after all this, what me and ellies relationship would be by tomorrow, i didnt know if i was gay- but i did know that i wanted more of her touch, i wanted to feel her touch, not only on me, but in me.
i pulled pulled the back of her neck onto my face to be met with mine, our kiss even more passionate then before, my knees felt so weak, like i could collapse at any moment, so my hands were balled into a fist gripping her tankop. her hands were squeezing my skin, i couldnt help it, i wanted to feel more of her skin
i lifted my left hand from her tanktop, and lowered them to the hem of it, before i stuck my hand underneath, trailing my hand against her skin, i stopped once my hand got to her bra, unsure of how far she wanted this to go, but her hand lifted from my waist and pulled my wrist up and underneath her bra, allowing me to feel her shape and soft skin
instead of ellies hand resting back on my waist, she snaked it under my jeans, and i felt her squeeze my ass, i had to pull away from our kiss as i let out a grunt, it would have probably came out a moan if i didnt keep my mouth squeezed shut and tried to hold it
we made out rubbing eachother for a few moments before ellies hand slid out of my jeans, i was disappointed until i felt her hands yank at the waist of my jeans, they were still unbuttoned so all she did was slid them off of me, i broke our kiss to step out of them
ellies hands went straight to the back of my bare theighs, "jump" she grunted, her voice deep and raspy, i did what she said, i jumped so my legs were wrapped around her waist as she still held me up by my theighs
as we shared a sloppy yet passionate kiss, i felt my back lift from the wall, ellie brough us across the room, and i felt myself get dropped into my bed
i could see ellie from the moon that lit our room, she crawled ontop of me, hovering over me as our hands and lips connected once again to eachother
she trailed her kiss to my jawline, i felt like i was to explode, i tilted my head so she could get more of my neck
i shouldnt be doing this, but i want to, but dads downstairs, hes asleep, but im high, we both are
my own thoughts fought eachother, i tried to bring myself to stop it, but i couldnt.
my fingertips rested on the fabric of ellies tanktop, i pulled her away for a moment, pulling off the grey top over her head, my eyes went straight to her body, and god did i feel faint.
she had a grey calvin klein sports bra on, my mouth was starting to water.
ellies hands went to my tanktop, i lifted my arms so that she could pull them over my head, i was nervous, especially since i didnt have a bra on, but i wanted it too much to stop
ellie and i stared at eachothers bodies for a moment, she leaned back in and connected her lips straight to my sweetspot of my neck, at the same time her hand went and messaged my boob, ellie was doing things to me because i couldn't even hold in my moans anymore
ellie left a trail of bruises down my neck as she went down more, and connected her lips to my nipple, my hand went to the back of her hair, squeezing her roots, right when i did so i could faintly hear ellie moan into my skin- she likes hair pulling, noted
ellie kissed my one breast and messaged my other, as i squirmed under her holding her hair
"ellie.." i whisper-moaned. "yea, babe?" she mumbled through her kisses, i felt hotter from her nickname, "please.." i whispered, i couldnt handle it anymore
ellie brought her hand and rested it between my legs, but it was inches away from my core, i squeezed my thighs together to try to make some sort of friction, but ellie moved her hands and pressed my knees away from eachother, "please what?" she asked in a dominant voicd, she obviously knew what i wanted, but wanted to hear me say it
"please-" i tried to get a full sentance out in one go, but that was near impossible, my fingertips rested on ellies pants, streching the fabric wanting them off, i was completely topless and had my pants off, yet ellie had a bra on and pants
ellie got off of me for a moment, taking her pants off, which i silently thanked her in my head for, "please what?" she asked again, her voice more raspy then before, "touch me" i moaned, she smirked, leaning in and kissing me again, i missed her lips and the taste of them
she rubbed her hand up slowly, her finger brushing against my cunt. without even thinking, my hand shot to ellies hand that was in between my theighs, and pushed it more towards it
as ellie grunted, she moved my underwear to the side, letting her fingers drag along my slit, "this wet for me baby?" she panted, "all for you" i replied, instantly connecting our lips after
ellie teased me, tracing her fingers up and down my wetness, i sunk my hips down more, trying to get more, ellie broke our kiss with a small laugh, she gave my lips another sweet kiss before she pulled away from my face, i looked up at her confused but my confused face was shortly changed to arousal, as she slipped her middle finger partly inside me
she slowly pumped her finger more into me, causing my head to go back on my pillow, ive touch myself before, but nobody had ever touched me, this was a complete new experience for me
as she pumped them in and out, i felt her start to grind her hips onto my theigh, all the fricton, i started to let out more and more moans, my mouth was closed so they werent as loud
i felt her add her ring finger in me, and curling them around my walls, her hips grinding with more pressure,i let my jaw fall, and furred my eyebrows as i moaned, ellies hand went straight to my mouth, covering any noises that escaped.. i realized for a split second that- oh that was really loud and could of easily woke up my dad- but the feeling of her fingers twirling around in me made me instantly forget about it
i couldnt help but start to grind onto her fingers, rocking my hips up and down. ellies hand slowly moved off of my mouth to grip on my hip, letting out a moans with me, her voice was so hot it made me even wetter. she then moved her hand down even more, i thought it couldnt get any better but she started to rub my clit
"mmfpph.. ell- ellie- i-" i screched, i felt my stomach tie into a tight knot, my body froze as i squeezed my eyes, while my hips stopped moving, ellies hands only sped up, and her hips started to move faster, practically jumping up and down on me, "ellie" i whinned, my eyes rolling back as i felt myself release, ellie grinded on me until her hips froze, "hh- hfphmhmm"ellie moaned, also coming to a finish, i watched her as she leaned her head back, mouth ajar, eyebrow's squishing together.
the room was filled with heavy pants- our chests going up and down as if we just had a near death experience
we stared at eachother trying to catch our breaths, ellies hair was clouding all around her face, her hair falling to her shoulders, really messy compared to how it was an hour ago, in which it was neatly brushed
ellie looked so beautiful, but there were two things i realized as i stared at her
1. we are still high as shit
2. ellie williams, a girl i met a few days ago, just fucked me

please tell us more abt your walkingdead hyperfixation i promise we'll be nice abt it!!! your art is stunning!!!
oh god ok well thank you firstly
basically here's the thing I really have a lot of problems with the walking dead, i've never read the comics or played the game so my only reference is the tv show which ran for way too long and went through too many writers (who only share ONE quality consistently and thats being fucking weird! it's so fucking racist and I wish more people talked about that!!!)
it feels like the story is just completely lost along the way which I think most people can agree on. so my hyperfixation is on twd but mainly all of the ways that I would not SQUANDER its potential if I were the one writing it
but I'm not taking 11 seasons worth of bullshit and meticulously altering each part of it to my tastes because I'm not that dedicated. I'm taking the premises of the characters that I really like, or are necessary to the plot, and making them brand new. like basically just ocs at this point.
but enough yapping im gonna tell you some actual details of the rewrite
- Rick, now named River, is an ex-firefighter rather than an ex-cop. because you cannot ever be a hero if you are a fucking cop. sorry. he and Shane (no new name yet) and their wretched codependent brother/best friend situation have enchanted me mind and soul so I have to physically restrain myself from making the rest of this post about them , but just know he beats Shane to death in the equivalent of Hershel's barn as its in flames and he walks away permanently marred with burns. he's also much much more mentally ill in my version. this guy has disorders like you wouldn't believe. disorders out the wazoo
- the character i would say I'm keeping the most true to the show is Daryl, even down to his name. all I've done is hit him with the transgenderfication beam. and also the autismfication beam. but both of these things are so plain to me in the source material that they barely feel like big changes
- Maggie is now named Madeline (Mads for short). she undergoes a genuine corruption arc here, because as each member of her family is picked off by pointless feuds she eventually has no empathy left for people that aren't already close to her heart. she deserves to be irredeemably insane. which is why she's the one to jail my version of Negan, not Rick like in the show, and she tortures him before eventually killing him. (IT'S SO DESERVED. SHE LOSES HER BABY TO HIM IN MY VERSION)
and don't get me started on Carol .. that woman needs to be a butch lesbian NOW 💔
- the apocalypse itself is also vastly different. it starts with a descent into major fascism in the west and the effects of it worldwide, and that's why the sickness is so quick to destroy civilization as a majority -- its just the last nail in the coffin. additionally, it's not really zombies anymore, they're not undead. just no longer human. because a disease that affects living things with appetites and some semblance of lingering intelligence and coordination is much, much scarier than the bumbling idiots in twd, and I have always, ALWAYS thought zombies were goofy.
maybe one day I'll have a concise document to share? I'm still working on it as a collaborative thing with my siblings who I dragged into watching the show with me, so I don't have it all figured out yet. ummmmmm. I'm gonna say that's all for now before this post really gets too long
THANKS FOR ASKING!!!!! and have a good day pls :)
