So sorry for the long as hell delay things have been a bit rough on my end with college and everything. This is very much a chapter inspired by Critical Roles Bells Hells Campaign. Enjoy the story and thank you so much for the support! ~ Coco
Seraphina belongs to me
"Sorry. I didn't mean to get all frustrated and flustered. It's just almost every time I or we try to handle my powers, there's always a setback." Seraphina muttered fumbling with her necklace.
Kingsley sighed and walked towards her. With a comforting smile he placed his hand on her shoulder and spoke.
"Nonsense Seraphina these aren't setbacks...they're-they're just minor hiccups. Besides, every hiccup just gives us more info. You're doing great and-and this is just another stepping stone to you being a hero."
Seraphina furrowed her brows as Kingsley spoke, his words of encouragement weren't working in the slightest. Kingsley then removed his hand from her shoulder and fidgeted with his watch. Be may have honestly just made her doubt worse but that's okay. Definitely okay. Cayenne groaned, pinching her brows.
"Bro you suck ass at giving words of encouragement. Well-uh I don't know what to say just figure that shit out. Plus maybe not here before the building get fucking demolished." Cayenne pointed up to the ceiling as a crack was now there.
"Cayenne no- Sera you're doing fine and we're here to help I swear. Yeah-I promise." Kingsley gasped at her comment.
Knowing it probably wouldn't get any better in the conversation Seraphina gave a tired smile. Maybe Cayenne's words had a bit of meaning but she tried almost everything. Being in the Vanguard League was to be helping. At times it did feel like it was but at times it didn't. And it felt more as if there was no help. Yet there wasn't a need to dwell on that. Seraphina was near exhaustion and wanted to go home as the night crept in.
"It's-it's fine Kingsley really you're right these are just minor hiccups and I'll bounce back. I'm here for a reason aren't I!" Seraphina chimed as she went to the door.
As Seraphina walked out Kingsley went back to his seat and slumped in it. Damien and Cayenne looked at him both puzzled.
"Cayenne does have a point plus it feels we're getting nowhere Kingsley. Most of her missions end up with a bit of a clean up. Maybe we should have her try something else?" Damien mutters.
Kingsley shook his head and let out a groan. It would be wrong for them to give up on her and he was almost close to getting some answers. Maybe just some more time could work.
"No-no she's in the right place...and we're still gonna help her. She's just fine. Just fine..."
--------------------
The moon was up high and illuminated the city. Starfire looked out admiring it as she took a sip of her tea.
"Oh Sera, would you just look at the moon! It is the gorgeous." Starfire said, taking her daughter's hand.
Seraphina looked up at it and smiled a bit looking at her mother beam brightly. She placed her head on her shoulder and sighed.
"Yeah it is mama. Very pretty tonight."
Starfire looked at her daughter seeing her tired form slumped over her. She then brushed her cheek gently and gave her a kiss on the forehead.
"Seems like my little bungorf is getting sleepy. Maybe it's time for us to get the rest you have a long day tomorrow!"
Seraphina slumped more into her mother mumbling.
"I know I'm planning for my mission on Mewni in a couple days. My second main mission mama! Can you believe it...but am I hero potential?"
Seraphina looked at her mom with sad eyes causing Starfire to frown. She then patted her head and brought her in closer.
"Of course you are! You were born to be a great hero."
"But there always seems to be a setback while everyone I know is improving-Dai is-is literally a god or idk some cosmic being now. So is Basteta or-"
"You're getting in your the head again."
"I know...I know it's just hard." Seraphina nuzzled more into her mother's embrace.
A couple minutes passed as the two watched the moon and stars bring a calmness. As she felt the comfort from her mother, Seraphina said drifting off to sleep. Starfire then lifted her up, waking her from her sleep. Starfire then cradled her and floated to Sera's bedroom. As Seraphina was placed gently into her bed Starfire tucked her in and gave her another kiss on the forehead.
"Goodnight my little Sera. I hope your dreams are as sweet as you." Starfire chimed before leaving her room.
Soon the sleep snuck its way to Seraphina as she closed her eyes ready for the embrace for peaceful dreams.
-----------------------
Seraphina woke up in a flash, her heart beating tenfold. As she scanned the area she expected to see her room, but instead she was in a field. As she looked everywhere she noticed how everything was a ruddy red including the sky. It felt cold, almost deathly where she was and quiet. All she could hear was the slight breeze hitting her. She swallowed the lump in her throat, clutching herself. Looking up at the sky she saw red storm clouds admitting white flashes of lighting. It began to cover the moon...which also matched the ruddy red sky. Soon the wind began to pick up causing her to brace herself.
"Where am I?" mumbling to herself.
She then held her arms out bracing for the strong gust, yet something appeared different about her. Her hands. It was as if this dark vantablack or purple dust had gotten on her hands and began to fade to her normal skin as it got closer to her elbow. Suddenly a rustling in the grass alerted her. Shooting her eyes up she saw a mysterious figure that appeared to be masculine maybe. The figure turned slightly looking behind it then continued it's walk away from her.
She looked as the figure walked away wondering where they could be going as they were in the middle of nowhere. But as she took her focus off the person to see where their direction was she gasped. The figure seemed to be walking towards a tornado...no a dozen tornadoes.
"Wait!" She screamed but the figure kept going.
The wind took another gust and blew her back. Seraphina yelped as she felt the wind, dust and dirt knocked her back. Suddenly she heard the faintest whisper of a woman.
"You need to run...run Seraphina."
Seraphina held both her arms up attempting to shield herself from the storm. She then looked behind her and saw tornadoes coming her way. Then she turned back seeing as the figure was fading from her view due to the storm.
"Wait... crap... I needa-I need to fly." She gasped through numerous coughs.
As she tried to lift herself off the ground she couldn't. She was flightless. Frozen in place yet the whispers still continued. As the storm crept closer to her the whispers grew louder.
"Seraphina run! You need to run."
Seraphina braced herself for impact and began an attempt to run. As she began running the ground began to crumble. She gasped almt tripping but still continued to run. Whereas the figure walked leisurely away from her, not looking back.
"Run, Seraphina, run!"
The voice began to echo and reverberate around her causing confusion. Although the voice was a whisper it felt like screaming.
"Seraphina. You need to run, run!"
"Wait, stop! Stop." She screamed, reaching a hand out.
The figure then stops mid walk before the storm nears is. As it turns around it begins to fade into nothing but a mist.
"No!" She screams, hand still out.
Before she knew it the wind had swept her away. Grass, dust leaves all began to circle her as she was swept into the tornado. Seraphina grasped for nothing attempting to bring herself back to the ground. She screamed as she kept circling in the air. Then the tornado spit her out high in the air. Her screams continued.
As she was at her highest point suddenly she dropped. The wind thrashed her to one side then to the other, continuing to spiral down. Everything kept spinning and spinning. Seraphina screamed louder as the ground was getting closer. The storm grew stronger lighting now rumbling the ground, thunder boomed loudly, shaking the earth.
Still that was no worry to her as she kept tumbling towards the ground. Her lungs trying to gasp for air but nothing as she continued shrieking. She felt nothing but felt oddly cold as if she wasn't in her body anymore. The only sounds she heard was the whisper continuing it's onslaught.
Closer and closer the ground became and the louder her shrieking was... until SMASH.
"RUN!"

~
It was another night filled with terror. Her nightmares were acting up again, they were far worse than any terror she had had before. She saw it again, him charging at her, eyes wide with rage. Her breath quickened as she found herself back in the claws of the cage within which she was once caught.
The cage of his rage laden with the torment of her childhood. His malicious grin as he struck those she held dear to her.
He got closer, rushing towards her at a quick pace. She felt her heart racing in her chest, her lungs burning, crying for oxygen yet unable to get any. Tears streamed down her face as she called desperately for help.
Her limbs flailed against him yet he gripped them in his hands, screaming curses at her. She could feel herself slowly blacking out when suddenly she was jarred awake.
The sensation of cold water on her face startled her but she didn’t have long to think about it before inhaling deeply, desperate to get air in her lungs. Clutching at her bed-sheets she looked up, noticing he was there, her adoptive father, Jason Gideon. The man who had rescued her from her father, the man who she now called ‘dad’.
He stood near her bed with wide eyes, an empty glass of water in his hand. His presence greatly comforted her. She quickly reached out, hugging him, unwilling to let him go, afraid of succumbing to her nightmares once more. She inhaled his comforting scent of cinnamon and his favorite perfume.
“Please don’t leave me,” she whispered, her voice muffled against him as he gently stroked her back in an effort to calm her down. Though she shivered with fear, she refused to let go.
“Shhh. Everything will be okay. How about this, we can have some tea and if you’re up to it we can either talk or not. Then we’ll watch some of those adorable pet videos that you like in my bedroom till you fall asleep,” he said softly, trying not to spook her.
Her arms tightened around him at the mention of sleeping. Understanding her fear, he comforted her, saying, “It’ll be okay. I’ll be there to watch over you. If you get another nightmare I’ll wake you up gain.”
Slowly thinking about what she wanted to do she slowly nodded her head.
He lead her to the kitchen. She watched him prepare her favorite tea, finding his routine actions calming as the soft sounds him moving around in the kitchen filled the air.
Bringing two steaming mugs out of the little kitchen he gently placed one in front of her and sat down next to her.
He told her stories about how his day went until she was relaxed. She didn’t feel like talking, unwilling to re-live the events of the nightmare that seemed too realistic to be a dream.
After their tea was finished, he put the cups away before taking her to his bedroom. His bed was big enough for the both of them.
She nestled herself within his sheets, inhaling his comforting smell.
He laid against the headrest, her head placed on his chest as they watched pet videos on his laptop.
After a few hours, he felt her breathing slowed and her body slumped. Slowly closing the computer and placing it on his bedside table, he wrapped his arms around his daughter, pulling her closer.
He kissed her forehead, whispering a soft ‘good night’, praying to whoever was listening that she’d have a peaceful night.
