Here's my list of the Top 10 TV Witches.  Of course, this is completely subjective.  The list isn't necessarily based on how powerful the witches are.  It also takes into account how much of an effect each character has had on culture.  Click the link above to read my justification for choosing each one. 1. #5: Morgana Pendragon - Merlin

Morgan Le Fay was a powerful evil sorceress in Arthurian legend, and BBC's Merlin breathes new life into the character.  The show manges to humanize her in a way that has not been done before.  This incarnation is the daughter of King Uther Pendragon, but the two share a strained relationship.  Uther despises magic, so this further causes Morgana to hate him when she begins to delve into the art herself.  Morgana ultimately becomes a very powerful sorceress, and she even makes an attempt at stealing the throne of Camelot.  However, Merlin manages to thwart her.

#6: Tara Maclay - Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Although her girlfriend, Willow, usually gets most of the credit, Tara is also a very powerful witch.  Due to her peaceful nature, we never see the true potential of her power.  However, it can be argued that Tara demonstrates an even greater understanding of magic than Willow.  Her pure kindness and selflessness allows Tara to fully control and utilize her magic.  She rarely uses her powers, but that's because she doesn't have to- not because she can't.  That fact alone makes her worthy of this list.

#7: Regina / The Queen - Once Upon a Time

In the fairy tale world, The Queen was a powerful sorceress who despised her step daughter, Snow White.  Convinced that no one deserves a happy ending, she uses dark magic to trap the entire kingdom in an alternate reality (our world).  Here, she is the mayor of a town called Storybrooke and adopts the name Regina.  The town inhabitants are all alternate versions of their former selves, and none of them remember their previous lives.  Regina is ruthless and especially spiteful towards the show's main protagonist, Emma Swan.  Her ultimate goal is to make sure no one discovers the truth about the town, and she often has to resort to some cruel methods to do this.

#8: Maggie & Don Stark - Supernatural

This married couple is arguably the strongest pair of witches we've seen on Supernatural to date.  Though only featured in one episode, their high-powered bickering with each other almost cost Sam and Dean their lives (not that that means much anymore).  Both are extremely jealous and vengeful people, and they have no problem killing in order to make a point.  The full extent of their powers is unknown, but Don was able to incapacitate a Leviathan (no easy task).  It's also worth noting that this dynamic duo is portrayed by two Buffy alums: Charisma Carpenter and James Marsters.

#10: Sabrina Spellman - Sabrina, the Teenage Witch

Oh, Sabrina.  Most people who grew up in the 90's will remember Sabrina, The Teenage Witch- an ABC sitcom based on a teenage girl who happens to be a witch.  In every episode, she manages to get into magic-related trouble and often has to ask her two witchy aunts, Hilda and Zelda, for help.  Sabrina also has a cat named Salem who often manipulates her into doing some risky magic spells.  Sabrina, The Teenage Witch was featured on the popular ABC Friday night lineup called TGIF (along with Boy Meets World).   The show was pretty silly, but it made Sabrina a household name in the 90's.
