Neville Lancelot Goddard: who is ?
we all know he's name by now, but many people don't know who he is.
Tumblr media
Neville Lancelot Goddard, who used the solitary pen name Neville, was a Barbadian-American author and mystic who wrote on the true meaning of the Bible as non-secular history, not historicity, but rather strictly and simply parables teaching humanity the pathway to spiritual awakening and true salvation. His essential teaching was that one's imagination is God, that we are all God incarnated as man, re-awakening to our God consciousness through the Christ (the power and wisdom of God) within us.
He wrote many books talking about the 'self' and spiritual journey that we as humans can begin to experience and not limit ourselves to just 'be human'.
here on Tumblr or in the manifestation community he is well known as a master manifestator, and we can find many knowledge, laws, methods, and spiritual journeys in his books.
Tumblr media
Here are all the books that Goddard wrote:
At Your Command (1939; Goddard Publications)
Your Faith Is Your Fortune (1941; Goddard Publications)
Freedom for All—A Practical Application of the Bible (1942; Goddard Publications)
Feeling Is the Secret (1944; Goddard Publications)
Prayer—The Art of Believing (1946; Goddard Publications)
Out of This World (1949; Goddard Publications)
The Power of Awareness (1952; unknown)
The Creative Use of Imagination (1952; Goddard Publications)
Awakened Imagination (1954; DeVorss & Company)
Seedtime and Harvest (1956; DeVorss & Company)
I Know My Father (1960; DeVorss & Company)
The Law and the Promise (1961; DeVorss & Company)
He Breaks the Shell (1964; DeVorss & Company)
Resurrection (1966; DeVorss & Company)

The BMHS Blog- ”The Beginning”
The Home of Barbadian Culture and Heritage is giving you access through our digital doors to edutainment on things found within our collections and our beautiful island home. #morethananexhibition
Who are we?
We are the Barbados Museum & Historical Society. Since 1933 when we opened our doors, we have been dedicated to curating and sharing Barbadian culture and heritage with the world.
Located within the island’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site of Historic Bridgetown and its Garrison, our property formerly housed a military prison for the British Navy until they withdrew around 1905.
Currently, we have 8 galleries exploring the development of the Social and Natural History of Barbados, Military History, Art and African Heritage.
Why a blog?
History is amazing, it’s an insight into who we are at our core and why we are the way we are. This blog will help to share information about Barbadian culture, history, and heritage, from a source that is pretty comprehensive (if we say so ourselves.)
Also, this medium allows us to provide you with pieces that are a little serious and a little lighthearted, so there will be a bit of something for everyone!
Why should you follow our Tumblr?
We’ll be posting bi-monthly information which can help you learn about Barbados, its past and present, along with having a forum that lets you communicate with us if there is something you wish to know more about.
The Barbados Museum & Historical Society is charged as a “guardian of our heritage*” (*that’s a reference to the Barbadian anthem) and that makes us uniquely poised to be your gateway to our Gem of the Caribbean Sea.
Will you join us?
This blog will be a journey to our history, culture, and people. Will you join us?

Meet Shani Belcourt from Diary of The Stray Dogs: The Wounded by Nigel Lynch ( @piratemonkeys76 ) of @beyondpublishingcaribbean . Shani has a mix of Caribbean heritage including but not limited to Haitian, Barbadian, Jamaican, and St.Lucian. She is the leader of the PMCs the Belcourt Maroons. The name taking inspiration from the historical Caribbean fighters from Jamaica. Apart from the role of leader, Shani is the crew's pilot. Her flight skill has gotten her team out of many a hairy situation but she feels it is time for some good old R&R. Her left eye was once augmented by a blue, ODIN enhanced computing device. In her later years she has upgraded to a less conspicuous version. She has extensive combat training as a mercenary. The Wounded is a comic one shot delving into this character's backstory. Shani's design evolves as she ages. She, is homesick and dreams of settling back down in her Caribbean homeland. Adventurous by nature, we meet her on the tail end of a private security firm contract. ‘Arts school’ EDUCATION OFFICIALS EYE PARKINSON AS FUTURE CREATIVE ARTS CENTRE AFTER GODDARDS’ INVESTMENT The Parkinson Memorial School is to be transformed into a creative arts school, its principal declared after Barbadian conglomerate Goddard Enterprises announced it was pumping about $1.2 million into renovating a long-closed, burnt-out block. The funds are intended to transform the previously condemned space for teaching visual arts, music, craft and stage management, said principal Ian Holder. The development appears to have sprung from the direct intervention of Minister of Education Santia Bradshaw and may become an early product of the government’s plans for curriculum reform drive, the abolition of the common entrance examination and division of secondary education into middle and specialist high schools, termed “schools of excellence”. Holder told a ceremony at the Pine school that the new investment into the campus came at the right time as it intends this year to begin reforming the educational opportunities available to its students. He said: “This block is going to provide opportunities for our students that will improve and increase opportunities with respect to certification as well as career opportunities. Sheena Rose, b. 1985 From the Sweet Gossip Series Barbados (2012) [Source], [Source], [Source]
The artist’s website says:
Sweet Gossip is a collaborative project with artist Sheena Rose, photographer Adrian Richards and art historian Natalie McGuire. The project looks at the Pop culture of Barbados and the phrases or comments that Barbadians use when gossiping or in a certain situation.
This project wants to express more of the Barbadian culture than the familiar stereotypes of beaches and sun, and look at the way we Barbadians speak. In the paintings, Sheena Rose references some of the stereotypes and places them within everyday situations in the paintings.
The poster-sized paintings are incorporated into performances in the streets and public spaces in Barbados where the gossip is overheard.

Sexypink - RITES, RITUALS, MEMORIES AND MORE CROP OVER VISUAL ARTS EXHIBITION OPENS THURSDAY. Barbados Today News. “The first event produced by the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) for Crop Over 2023 starts next week and runs throughout the Season of Emancipation. On Africa Day, Thursday, May 25, 2023, the NCF will host the official opening of the Central Bank of Barbados Crop Over Visual Arts Exhibition entitled We Came on Merchant Ships. The following day, Friday, May 26, the three-part exhibition will then be open for public viewing at the Queen’s Park Gallery until Thursday, June 22.The series of exhibitions seek to visually explore the concept of the necessity of trade for growth and expansion and all the consequences, rewards and challenges that come from migration, free, forced or otherwise. The first exhibition, We Came on Merchant Ships – Movement, examines movement in its many forms. The works of 29 artists will be on show.
Tumblr media
The exhibition captures the reason people move, modalities for movement and the various cultural manifestations of migration - forced and free. Special emphasis will be placed on the transatlantic slave trade.NCF’s Curator Oneka Small admits that although the topic is a tough one to approach, the Foundation was excited to showcase such a serious yet sensitive project using art. “Curating this one has not been an easy task simply because it is a painful period in our history, especially the show, which focuses a lot on the transatlantic slave trade. So we are very excited though to be presenting the information through multimedia presentations such as photography,” she said. She added: “We have digital work. We also have sculptures.
Tumblr media
Some amazing pieces by amazing artists. We want to keep them under wraps so that you come excited on Friday, May 26, to see the show. It is a mixed medium, multimedia, all genre show. We are very happy to be presenting such a show this year.”Small is curating the exhibition alongside colleague NCF’s Visual Arts Officer Rodney Ifill, who commended the artists for stepping up and exploring the topic. “We have 29 wonderful artists. We have so many artists on the island and I am glad that they responded to the theme because the whole idea of introducing themes like this is to get people to think, to research and then you become better for it. At the end of the day, you are now collecting a pool of knowledge that you would have gone away with in terms of your own personal interrogation and presenting your sensibility to the public,” he noted. The second exhibition, We Came on Merchant Ships – Memories and Identity, which runs from Friday, June 30, to Thursday, July 27, the artists seek to interrogate the intangible aspects of trade.
Tumblr media
How do memories express themselves in displaced people? How is identity maintained, retained, or assimilated within the new land of settlement? The third exhibition, We Came of Merchant Ships – Rites, Ritual and Religion running from Friday, August 4 to Thursday, August 31 will see artists visually explore the continuation of rites, rituals and religion from the lands from which the present people of Barbados originated, for example, the Spiritual Baptist, Christianity and the rise of traditional African religions such as the practice of Yoruba, Hindu and other faiths. For more information on details relating to the Exhibition, please contact Oneka Small via email at [email protected] and Rodney Ifill Visual Arts Officer via email at rodney-ifill@ncf. bb (PR)”

Sexypink - “The first installation of the Central Bank of Barbados Crop Over Visual Arts 2023 three part exhibition - We Came on Merchant Ships will end this Thursday.Produced by the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) the exhibition has been on display at the Queen’s Park Gallery since late May and takes viewers on a trip across the Atlantic to explore the movements of trade and people and delve into the often unspoken histories that have shaped the world today.Curated to portray the dynamic movements of people and the complex reasons behind them, this exhibition promises to transcend the traditional modalities of historical representation.
It delves into the intricate tapestry of migration, trade, and human resilience that have birthed our vibrant Caribbean culture.Renowned artist, Shane Eastmond, known for his deeply evocative work, anchors the exhibition with his piece Black and White. This stirring masterpiece draws inspiration from a photo taken by Kyle Babb of Eastmond’s childhood friend, and seeks to contrast history’s documentations.“Black and White focuses on the pain that we have experienced in the past as people and the love we have learnt here in the future,” said Eastmond.
Another key highlight is the abstract work Betrayed, crafted by the multi-talented forensic scientist-turned-visual artist, Sharon Antoinette.
This piece presents a heartbreaking story of survival, betrayal, and sacrifice. Two canvases, linked by chains, and layered with keys hidden beneath crosses, evoke the haunting memory of merchant ships crossing the Middle Passage.
The artist recalled that creating Betrayed was a deeply emotional process for her.“It was heart-wrenching,” she exclaimed.
The piece serves as a stark reminder of the profound pain endured by those who crossed the Middle Passage, many of whom were betrayed by their own for survival. The second exhibition, We Came on Merchant Ships – Movement, starts next month and promises to be more than an art exhibition, paying tribute to the strength of our ancestors, and sounding a clarion call to remember and learn from history.” (PR)Barbados Today
