Coloring your hair makes you insane ©my experience
but in fact I was just ecstatic with my incredible desire to draw something in traditional, so gathered all my art supplies in a pile (shit and sticks bc i have nothing i'm broke) and pleased my creative impulses... I drew @melkors-big-tits SaBOOBron yaa👹👹
p.s. I admire how unstable his designs are. in a good way. Sauron has his own highlights(???) on each of his new art, and I didn't know what exactly to draw to show that it was Sau eehee🤠🤠

i really thought hange was non-binary bc the one who said hanges gender was up for interpretation was kodansha us but isayama asked for gender neutral pronouns right?
here!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m gonna answer all of the gender asks in one go because for one, I don’t think I wanna flood my own feed and my own tumblr with the same arguments.
I think a lot of the questions on Hange’s gender and the topic of  gender and sexuality overall are kinda intertwined and I feel like for anyone who actually reads my stuff, it’s better understood as one big wall of text.
So I was wondering, is that song the absolute proof about hange's gender?
No. I think the interpretation of the song which people are using to prove that Hange’s nonbinary is very western centric. I actually did research around this song and knowing what I know about Japanese culture, I actually interpret the song as a way for Japanese people to break out from gender norms.
For people who are not aware, Japan is incredibly strict with gender norms. The LGBTQ community is not as progressive as it is in Western countries (I mean gay marriage isn’t completely legalized yet). And just looking at it from the stand point of gender roles and gender expectations, despite the progressive thinking, there are a lot of things Japanese men and women have to conform to just to be respected in everyday society. Because in Japan, the community has always been more important than the individual and it’s honestly the same for most asian countries as well.
A lot of the pressure of living in Japan, working with Japanese people is the pressure to conform and I’ve seen my friends do it through small things like getting bangs (because all Japanese women have bangs apparently), wearing make up when going out (because this is generally an accepted for all Japanese people) and always dressing your best because in that manner women are held to an incredibly high standard in Japan. And this goes similarly for men who are constantly pressured to be the breadwinner in the family. If your wife is making more than you, be ready to hear people talk. I know these expectations exist in a Western setting too but Japan is incredibly stiff as a society and this is one reason why, despite having numerous opportunities to moveto Japan myself, I am not at all entertaining that possibility. I have worked in a Japanese company and I hated it and moved to a western company right after six months. I have completely accepted the fact that there is no mobility career wise from a non-Japanese (and a woman at that) in Japanese society.
In conformity, hierarchies etc, Japan is its own monster. That’s why when songs like Jibunrashiku, Hitchcock (by Yorushika) or Shisoukan (by Yorushika) come out, for one it’s in Japanese so I wouldn’t approach the songs from an English and as a Japanese speaker and someone who is pretty familiar with Japanese culture, I can’t help interpret that song as a social commentary for the shitty parts of Japanese society and how they tend to shoot the concept of an ‘individual’ down.
But does that mean I completely shoot down the idea that Hange is NB?
NO. Yams said so himself, Hange’s gender is unknown. But at the same time, Yams recognizes the fact that in the anime and in the live action, Hange is a female. If Yams were that adamant to make Hange NB, I think he would have at least made more of an effort to police how she is depicted in the anime and in the live action.
His exact words were: 「ハンジは彼(彼女)みたいな、ちょっと浮世離れした、枠にとらわれない自由な感じで描きたかったんです。」If I roughly translated it to English, “I wanted to draw Hange as someone otherworldly, free from the confines of gender.”
Tbh, I wanted to avoid these gender asks altogether but I’ve seen the environment in twitter and the ways many people approach gender, particularly ‘nonbinary’ or genderfluid and it really just doesn’t sit well with me. For one, what’s up with all these rules on how to approach our nonbinary and LGBTQ friends? What’s up with all these accusations that if we don’t follow them to a T, then we’re suddenly transphobic or homophobic?
The fact that we’re creating all these rules on how to go about her nonbinary gender for one, just defeats the whole purpose of Hange being a free bird in the first place who wouldn’t have cared and who wouldnt’ ever have been confined to gender in the first place.
I mean the establishment of set rules and social norms on how to navigate gender, sex, sexuality and gender roles is the reason why we had heternormativity in the first place. And what I can see, yes, we did get progressive, we did start recognizing other genders, other ways of thinking but the danger in all this is that, we’re once again creating frameworks and norms about how people that identify as these genders are supposed to act. And this defeats the whole purpose of why we recognized concepts of other sexualities, other genders and breaks from gender roles in the first place.
We wanted to show these people that their feelings are valid, that the way they’re navigating their relationships and their identities are valid and the heternormative society we’ve lived in that has been condemning for so long, was flawed, was wrong.
But the thing is, with the establishment of all these social norms on how to navigate our relationships with LGBTQ people and how to navigate our own gender, sexuality, sex and role is just making us regress back to that shitty heteronormative society of a hundred years ago. Because suddenly, everyone is questioning once again ‘How am I supposed to be feeling if I’m nb?” “How am I supposed to be feeling if I’m trans?” “How am I supposed to be feeling if I’m LGBT?”
And we’re creating these abstract ideas of how exactly, being genderfluid is supposed to feel like. Am I really supposed to be going by ‘they?’ Am I supposed to be uncomfortable with CIS pronouns?
And If I don’t go through this process… If I don’t feel this way then maybe I’m not NB? Maybe I’m not Trans? Maybe I’m not LGBT? And if I don’t conform to this clear cut idea of what NB is which people set up for me, god forbid I might just be transphobic or homophobic.
And Here’s the thing, everyone’s journey to self discovery is unique and there is no exact way to go about your gender or identity. I find it terrifying actually that creating all these clear cut rules have built misconceptions in so many people already on what they are supposed to feel like when they decide to identify with a certain gender which is no different from long ago when people had to hide the fact that they liked people of the same gender because god forbid they might just be persecuted for being gay.
Creating these frameworks, these incredibly strict rules on how someone is supposed to navigate relationships with LGBTs and their own personal identities is only making it all the more dangerous for people who are in the process of discovering themselves.
Back in college, I used to accompany a friend to a clinic when he was starting HRT treatments and before he started them, he had to consult with a doctor and the consultation lasted months. Before all that, they gave him a checklist of ‘feelings,’ which if he does experience them, he checks it and if he does check enough of them and agrees with a huge chunk of them, then he might have gender dysphoria and maybe the HRT treatments and sex reassignment was for him. It was a hundred item checklist,  pages full of waivers, warnings and questions about his own experiences with his gender identity. And the fact that he had to consult for months after on that? There must be a reason.
Maybe because the academe realizes, maybe because those adept on the field on gender realize that gender is too complex of a subject to have been boxed into these categories in the first place.
And this whole discourse or I wouldn’t say discourse more of like, this ‘pushing of agendas’ as to say, ‘this is how being gender fluid or non binary is supposed to feel like’ this is how being transgender is supposed to feel like and if you don’t fit it to a T then you’re not transgender or you’re not nb. Or if you don’t fit it all, maybe you’re just transphobic is dangerous for many reasons. Either it gatekeeps people who want to explore their gender further. Or it forces people to have to conform to these and force themselves to ‘feel’ all of these things in the first place.
And god, this is just the gender issue, I haven’t even explored the sexuality, gender roles or biological issue.
i mean pronouns are important but they don’t really reflect someone’s gender??? like there’s people who use he/they, she/they or all pronouns(? they just don’t conform to gender binary ahaha
Given the environment on twitter and having witnessed the bullying first hand that came with one writer who is active on twitter using she/her pronouns for Hange, I feel like my own writing and my own POV on how I go about my writing and how I approach the gender of Hange (since I strictly use she/her) might just be a ticking time bomb and I might find myself at the end of whatever hate war or ‘education’ or as I like to just refer to as bullying, one day.
I believe though I at least have enough knowledge and awareness of the LGBTQ situation and I think I did put a lot of thought already into this before I made my decision to use ‘she’ to refer to Hange.
(And tbh, you can be nonbinary and you can be female at the same time and I’ve written about that multiple times already BECAUSE THEY’RE NOT EVEN IN THE SAME CATEGORY. And creating this mutual exclusivity between being nonbinary and female just kinda invalidates a lot of those people who are still deciding where exactly they fall in this complex web of identity discovery)
As someone who generally mainly hangs out with LGBT people and i have been doing this since high school by the way, and as someone who has tried all the sexualities on the spectrum, I talked to my asexual friends about possibly being asexual, I have experimented with women and sometimes, I just had dry spells and it just so happened that in the end of all these, I fell in love with a guy but I really believe that gender is such a flexible thing and even though I am with aguy right now, I still simp over lesbians, gays, ciswomen, transgenders because simping isn’t about gender.
And these set of rules on how to navigate genders is just invalidating the experiences of people who are flitting in between the two identities and it just hinders the process of self discovery for a lot of people.
Anyway, the point is, there is only one statement I found fundamental when approaching my relationships with the LGBT community and my own perspective on my self identity.
Recognition of someone’s feelings and their journey to a gender identity and the pronouns that come with it are important.
Then someone might go “THEN WHY DON’T YOU RESPECT HANGE’s NON BINARY PRONOUNS. Because just because someone is nonbinary doesn’t mean they automatically go for they. Just because someone is non-binary, doesn’t mean I have to use every single pronoun on the spectrum. The only one who can tell me what pronouns they want used on them is the person in question.
(I actually read an argument somewhere that going for ‘they’ just because someone is NB is transphobic lmfao. Assuming someone’s pronouns is apparently transphobic too lmfao.)
AND HANGE IS FICTIONAL. And we will never hear about which pronoun she would have wanted in the first place and I think the great ‘nontransphobic’ in-between is just letting people interpret characters how they want to interpret characters in this fictional world (And Hange can be both interpreted as nb and female). It’s the policing which makes the whole process of self discovery, the process of navigating genders all the more difficult for a lot of people.
And policing how exactly people should navigate gender and sexuality is just gatekeeping. Hange is everyone’s character. The only gender and sexuality identity people have complete jurisdiction on, is their own. And this policing of what exactly certain journeys to discovery are supposed to feel like is inherently harmful for those who are still in the process of deciding for themselves where they stand.
And going back to what Yams said “I wanted to draw Hange as someone otherworldly, free from the confines of gender/sexuality/gender roles.” I agree with that.
Because even though I do use ‘she’ with Hange, I do not firmly believe that Hange is a cisgender heterosexual female either. I just believe there are so many more layers to her whole identity and I believe similarly for every single person. Just concluding for one’s self that Hange is nonbinary with a very narrow minded view of what non binary just generally defeats the whole purpose of being ‘free from the confines of gender’ and hinders a lot of discourse and analysis on Hange’s identity over all.
I mean, I don’t know if people agree with this but in the decades I have spent with my close friends figuring out their gender identities, changing pronouns, transitioning, coming out to their parents, here is one thing I noticed. They weren’t asking for a celebration of their gender or sexuality, they weren’t asking for all these policing on how people should approach them. All they wanted was for their feelings to be validated, normalized as an everyday occurrence. I think the point of all these LGBTQ discourse (and by extension race and sex discourse) were all there to just make all these different identities normalized and to completely eradicate the concept of a negative bias or an other which was generally plaguing society for a long time.
And as their friends, I have never approached them as this champion who would make sure EVERYONE RESPECTED THEM IN THAT WAY IN TWITTER THEY BELIEVE LGBTQ PEOPLE SHOULD BE RESPECTED. All these nonverbal rules I have set up for myself on how to go about being friends with them is because I wanted them to be happy and comfortable in their shoes. And what were the types of things they appreciated? Me hiding it from their parents until they were ready to come out, me helping make their relationship work with their partner, me respecting the pronouns they requested for themselves, me accompanying them to HRT when their parents refused.
And you know what, that was only a facet of our friendships. My friends’ gender identities and sexualities never dominated discourse. None of them were the ‘token gay friend,’ the ‘token lesbian friend’ or the ‘token asexual friend’ or the ‘token NB friend.’ They were all people I genuinely care about who just happened to have fallen in love with someone of the same gender. They were just people who just happened to be uncomfortable with their original sex. But I would never just describe them as just that. My friend who just so happens to identify as assexual makes a great companion on a night out drinking. My friend who just so happens to be trasngender is really great with logistics and planning and was super helpful and I was eternally grateful when we worked together on that one project. My friend who just happens to be a lesbian has the cutest picture of her girlfreind on her phone screen.
I will memorize their favorite orders, what makes them tick, what makes them such a great companion, their talents, capabilities more than I will remember their gender. And that’s the characetr song in question is called “Jibunrashiku” or in English “just like me.” Because in the end a strict society which creates all these maxims of what exactly people of a certain gender should act would of course birth songs like “Just like me” A society which puts so much emphasis on gender and sex  as an identity instead of other things like personality, preferences, skills etc.
And I don’t know if it applies to everyone. But my friends appreciate it because this journey to whatever gender identity they chose wasn’t rooted in some sort of strict framework on how they should be treated according to twitter. It was rooted in their own experiences and how these experiences made them feel.
Do they feel weird in a woman’s body? Do they just don’t feel any romantic attraction to the opposite gender?
Just treat them as how you would treat anyone else you respect. Just be a decent person. Just be a good friend.
Respect their requests for their own personal pronouns. If they need help, help them to the best of your abilities.
And here’s the thing, the approach I use with navigating identities, sexuaities genders are rooted in one very simple concept which can be applied to the race discourse, the feminist discourse etc etc.
Don’t be an ass. Respect people. Don’t reduce people to one facet of their identity. And by extension, when faced with such a dubious situation, think, discern for yourself what’s right or wrong. When there are people educating you, policing you on what is right or wrong, process that information objectively.
All I have here right now is my own opinions on the gender discourse on Hange and my own opinions on the discourse overall.
If you don’t agree with it, then have a nice day and I hope you find something else that will convince you to be more openminded but...
UTANG NA LOOB HUWAG LANG KAYO MAMBULLY NG TAO POTA. MAGHANAP NALANG KAYO NG IBANG PWEDENG GAWIN SA BUHAY MO.
ANG DAMING NASASAKTAN ANG DAMING NATRATRAUMA ANG DAMING NAWAWALANG GANA MAGSULAT KASI DI KAYO NAG-IISIP. PURO TIRA LANG.
Okay thank you for listening. Do what you want with the information up there but I have said my piece.

Oh you use Reddit? Do you go on the HPHM subreddit at all? There's great content.
Tumblr media
The long story short is that yes, I have been on the HPHM Subreddit. I'm not going to be on there for a while however, as I have been put on a temporary ban. I can’t really mention that without expecting folks in my inbox to ask why, so I decided not to bury the lead, and that I should probably tell this story. For reasons that I'll get into down the line, I fully expect the moderators of the subreddit to come across this post sooner or later. So to them I say, hello again. No hard feelings. No bad-mouthing here. Just going to recount what happened from my point of view.
When I applied to join the HPHM Reddit group, I hadn’t been on Reddit for very long. So it’s entirely possible that I’m simply not well versed in the rules of etiquette. Every group (or “subreddit” as they seem to be called) that I’ve joined has had specific rules listed, and the HPHM Subreddit was no exception. One of the rules forbids any discussion of cheating or third party apps. And you know what, fair enough. That's a controversial and messy subject, and plenty of people don't approve of third party apps. I had no problem with that when I joined. However, it quickly became clear that this rule wasn't that strictly enforced. I encountered many different posts where people alluded to or directly referenced cheaters, though usually when talking about something else like Full Marks, and always with a tone of condemnation. Many talked about reporting cheaters or encouraged other players to do the same. This gave me the impression that one could get away with mentioning the existence of hackers, just not condoning them. That shall be important later.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago. I'm seeing a few posts that lead me to that conclusion. Most of them asking about Jam City's customer support. I came across a post where a person had been abruptly banned when they contacted Jam City for help, despite having never used cheats. This is, unfortunately, something that I’ve seen happen before. In my experience, there is very little to gain, and regrettably a lot to lose, by contacting customer support. That’s only my experience of course, but I’ve spoken to many other players who feel the same way. So I advised the OP accordingly, and explained my reasoning.
In one of these comment threads, I went a bit more in-depth. I criticized Jam City's customer support. I did not expect this tangent to be received poorly, as based on what I've seen, the general fandom has mixed feelings about Jam City at the best of times. There was also, to be totally fair, no given rule listed in the subreddit that mentioned them. As is my nature, I kept my comments as polite as possible, mentioning that the game was fantastic, just that customer support was a real weakness for Jam City as a company. I brought up a point that I've made before, that the terms of service are never presented to the player and therefore, no player has ever signed them. I’ve made it no secret on my Tumblr that I am sympathetic to people who use cheats, but I wasn’t about to make that moral argument. I had read the room.
Besides, I was merely making observations and drawing conclusions about them. My personal opinions weren’t really relevant to the points I was trying to make. I briefly referenced how it made no logical sense to ban cheaters because there was no given rule about third party apps that was accessible to players. I even directly stated that I was not saying this as a defense of cheaters. However, it was ironically enough, this level of caution that doomed me.
Not long after I had posted these comments, I received notice that I had been permanently banned from the subreddit. I was told that I had spread misinformation, that I had a pro-cheating agenda, and that I had acted in bad faith. That was a very confusing message to wake up to I had no idea where they got this impression of me. So, I wrote back. They said I could ask questions about the ban, and though they never technically allowed me to "appeal" it, that is basically what I did with my response. I asked them what they were talking about. While the stances I voiced might have been unwelcome, I was hard pressed to understand how I had misled anyone. The words “bad faith” really stuck out to me.
Doing a bit more research, I saw comments on the posts I had replied to where the moderators suggested that posts like mine came from cheaters who were lying about potential consequences of contacting Jam City to report players suspected of cheating, all to protect themselves. That may be happening, that may even be a serious problem, I won’t presume to know. All I can say is that I have never met a cheater who even participates in the weekly events. The general consensus I had seen among them was to avoid the weekly events at all costs, precisely to avoid the risk of getting banned. Again, I won’t pretend to be the most knowledgeable about this subject, but I had no hidden agenda and at first, it felt like they had no reason to assume I did. A person doesn't have to be pro-cheater to recognize the nuances of the subject. Cheating in video games (and in general) has always been a debate with two sides.
Well, the moderators got back to me.
They told me that it was harmful to dissuade people from contacting customer support, and they reminded me that third party apps are technically illegal, so it was their view that Jam City didn’t have to make their policy about them obvious to players. I suppose I can understand that perspective, but I still think “zero tolerance” can’t go hand in hand with “zero information.” but that’s a debate for another time. They also answered my query about the claim that I acted in bad faith. Guys, they linked my Tumblr page. They showed me my own words, sending me the petition post I made in defense of Akemi Stormborn after she was banned. In that post, I did defend cheaters. I discouraged Jam City from trying to eradicate cheating, and criticized their methods. In essence, the moderators believed I had an active agenda to discredit Jam City. To that, I have to ask...is HPHM Tumblr just like, far more critical of them than any other chapter of the fandom? Because I've been pretty tame with them compared to other users I've seen. I try to be fair.
The Mods also told me that it was not against the rules for players in the subreddit to use cheats or support players who do, but that it was dishonest for me to hide my bias when discussing the subject. This was news to me. The idea that I could openly side with cheaters or even be one myself and still be allowed on the subreddit...I won’t lie, I feel like the specific rules about these subjects could be made clearer. I messaged them back to make my case, and give my best effort to keep things friendly. Explaining my side of the story. I told them that I was sorry if I had broken the rules, but for a first offense, this felt needlessly harsh. I asked for a second chance, to be given the benefit of the doubt. Pointed out that I hadn’t been given any sort of warning or opportunity to learn from my mistake. They reviewed my case and eventually changed my punishment to a three month ban. So now I’m just waiting out my sentence, so to speak. I wouldn’t say we parted on cordial terms, but as I am terrified of conflict, I have no plans to bring up Jam City’s customer service or the morality of third party apps on the subreddit ever again. I’ve learned my lesson about going near those subjects.
So that’s how it stands.

First off DAFUQ!!! Was with the anon. Personally I would like to see the more murdery part of homestuck shown in the community cause a lot of killing did happen along with some sprinkles of insanity. Either way I really like your blog/your trolls/and your plot. I just wish one day drama would stop.
[I feel you!  I don’t know why that anon jumped to that conclusion other than wanting to start some sort of drama;;
I can really appreciate darker role play in all honesty.  Sometimes it’s fun to rp something that’s fucked up, but if i can stand on a soapbox for a second Tumblr has really become a puritanical Christian type website where if you don’t show things that are all white, bright, and “good” then you yourself are a bad person no matter if you are condemning the bad things in your narrative.  It seems like the only way you’re “allowed” to enjoy the source material is if you ignore the bad things about it instead of understanding them and thinking critically about why they are bad (like all the death and murder and things like how the dolorosa was sold into slavery as her punishment for abandoning her duties and supporting a rebellion).
If i’m being very honest, evil and bad things help enhance a story.  You see bad things happen to your heroes and it makes you connect more with them and actively want them to win and overcome.  All the fucked up stuff that happens in Alternian society makes you want the rebels to win even more, and makes you even happier to see The Condesce killed and troll society continue on in a less fucked up variation.  If you only ever have light and bright things, then there’s no reason for any plot to happen.
Then again I think most of the people who are so outspoken about anything bad happening most likely have a problem separating villainous things that you are supposed to be angry about from things you’re supposed to like and align yourself because of the nature of a RP environment, so they’d rather everything be happiness and rainbows 24/7 so that there’s no chance of them being seen as “problematic”.  There’s absolutely nothing wrong with not wanting an overarching plot for your characters, or just wanting to do slice of life forever without any conflict!
But if you want to make a good story, you need an antagonist or a driving force for why your characters are trying to attain their goal.
This of course isn’t to say you should unapologetically expose random people to your evil characters, force your villains on others, or take away someone’s blog safe space by forcing them to use a vile character or theme that makes them uncomfortable.  That’s why I barely ever use my evil characters and I certainly never do it without the other mun knowing exactly who and what my bad guys are.  I especially hate when people use their villains as a ‘haha this is my main character who I make everyone interact with, now let’s trivialize the things that make them evil because I don’t understand how to handle serious topics respectfully or in a proper way”, or worse when they have atrocious characters and don’t seem to realize that someone who is a slave trader or rapist or serial murderer is a bad fucking person PLEASE gain some self awareness.
Now I have never RP’d anything dark or questionable like murder outside of DMs because I also understand that torture porn and death is Not Everyone’s Jam, and no amount of tagging will keep people from reading out of spite just to get angry or someone heaven forbid accidentally stumbling on it and reading out of ignorance.  With that being said, there are some things that I will always refuse to RP even in DMs, including rape, incest, and pedophilia because like.  There is a Fuckin Limit to things that you should dedicate yourself to write out as scenes like c’mon.
As someone who is a survivor of sexual assault and was preyed on by elders in my RP community when I was a young teen, it appauls me when people just... casually do shit like that for fun?  I don’t understand how it could be enjoyable to RP as a victim of that and even less understand how you could enjoy being the predator in those situations... I believe that while you should use darkness and evil to enhance your plots, it’s also the responsibility of any RPer to do their best to keep younger and more vulnerable members safe. I wish that when I was younger someone had stepped in and stopped the creep who fucked me up for life, or that someone had at least explained why I should have not spent so much time with her.
So that is one thing that I am VERY glad to have in this community.  I do wish unnecessary drama would stop and people would stop trying to lure others into saying things that can be taken out of context as a gotcha, but I’d really like to hope that most of the “drama” that comes out is actually coming from a place of wanting to keep others safer than they were when I was a child.  I have no doubt that the ask I got was just trying to stir up trouble, but I still hope that most of the warnings people put out and the posts people make (like the advice posts I put out from time to time here and on my main blog) are made from a place of goodness with the intent of positive change.]

Honestly, I feel you. It gets so annoying how some people can't grasp the concept that not every character is going to be PERFECT. A character is always going to do certain actions that they shouldn't had done: but that shouldn't ALWAYS mean they are just completely unforgivable and irredeemable! And it's especially annoying when some people be like 'how could you like that character when they did x' as if it's impossible to like a character and STILL acknowledge they're not perfect.
I feel like that is a big problem on this website especially.  It’s become so all-or-nothing/black-and-white that it loses the middle ground so quickly.  And with it, to me, interpretations of narrative and characters have suffered as a result.  When everyone is trying their hardest to make sure that x character remains a “pure smol cinnamon roll too good for this world” and y character is basically the devil incarnate when both are actually just human beings who have both good and bad in them?  It makes it so that people can easily misconstrue things and completely overlook or erase certain character traits that do not fit that black-and-white narrative.
Nahyuta is a great example of this - people who basically claim he’s a war criminal (which...I’ve already explained is wrong in the political science sense) erase his status as a big brother and son who was used due to his fierce attempt to protect them.  He’s no longer a victim, he’s a perpetrator, because if he’s a victim then it makes his actions less clear in terms of what can be done to sort of help those who were his victims (really Ga’ran’s, but he was the middle-man, in a way).  It’s easier to say “just prosecute him as a war criminal” than to acknowledge that he was someone who was basically held at metaphorical gunpoint and had to choose to save people he loved.  It also erases his hopelessness/implied depression, which I find troubling - he basically lost all hope that anything could be done to stop Ga’ran (again, an absolute monarch who was perceived as legitimate until you reveal her as a non-medium) and so did what he thought was necessary to make sure Amara and Rayfa were safe.
And then of course, getting back to just tumblr in general, it is as you say - you can acknowledge that a character you like isn’t perfect and has character flaws.  Those flaws make them more human.  And god forbid you like a villain and actually do want to see a redemption arc of some kind for them.  Not all villains need one, and not all villains “deserve” one, but to me it says something to want to see someone actually become a better person.  To explore their motivations beyond just “this person is terrible” and see if you can change those in a more positive direction.
(This is why when that post about not giving villains a redemption arc or something was going around, I rolled my eyes a lot. )
Usually I don’t personally like the best those characters who are “perfect” by fandom or narrative structure.  (Side note: I find this discussion interesting especially since it is a turnover in fandom, since the idea of perfect characters usually came to cries of Mary and Gary Stus with people just condemning them to hell and back.)  Even in AA, my top faves include Simon, Edgeworth, Kristoph, and Bobby/the Phantom.  None of these characters are perfect cinnamon rolls (not even Miles, as much as I claim how wonderful he is), but to me they are interesting and have interesting motivations and if they were “pure” I would probably find them less interesting.  Of these, I can get away with Simon and Edgeworth, but people sometimes fight me on Kristoph and on the Phantom (real!Bobby gets a pass).  Like trust me, I know they are not good people.  They’re interesting characters in my eyes, and that’s why I like them.  And their backstories are mysteries in terms of canon, so I like to explore that to see what makes them tic.  And if I wanted a redemption story for characters like these?  It isn’t me saying “what they did in the past was no big deal.”  It’s more me asking what it would take to pull them from that sort of mindset into becoming a potentially better person.  This doesn’t mean their previous crimes are erased.  It just means maybe they can eventually show remorse over it.  Maybe.
(Really I just love grey villains like they are the best, redemption arc or no.)

I Timothy - outline
 Chapter 1
●        We are commanded to teach no other doctrine other than the doctrine of grace, mercy, and peace which come from our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
o   I Timothy 1:2-4: Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord. As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine, Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.
●        We are commanded to teach only sound doctrine, the doctrine that is grounded in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
o   I Timothy 1:10-11: For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.
 Chapter 2
●        It is God’s will and desire for all men to be saved.
o   I Timothy 2:4-6: Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
Chapter 3
●        Criteria to be a spiritual overseer, presbyter, bishop, elder outlined. One of the main criteria for an elder is that person must be a ruler of your their house before they could ever lead larger flock.
o   I Timothy 3:5: (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
 Chapter 4
●        Some will depart from the faith. They will be seduced by evil spirits and preaching the doctrine of devils.
o   I Timothy 4:1-3: Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
●        What is departing from the faith? Anything that does not coexist with the Word of God.
●        Departing from the faith:
o   Denying Jesus Christ is God.
o   Denying Jesus Christ did not pay for all sin.
o   Denying that Jesus Christ did not resurrect.
o   Denying the Gospel.
o   Preaching rituals, sacraments, traditions and works for salvation.
o   Adding leaven to grace which is works for salvation.
 Chapter 5
●        Loving members of the Body of Christ, the Church, as your own family; criteria for a widow; and, lay hands not suddenly on any man to be an elder.
●        Elders need to labor in word and doctrine.
o   I Timothy 5:17: Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
 Chapter 6
●        Consent only to doctrine that is godliness, the words of our Lord Jesus Christ.
o   I Timothy 6:3-5: If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
●        Individuals will teach that gain is godliness. However, this leads to coveting money which will lead to further sin.
●        Content is a peace of mind. If things are going well or not well around you, a believer can still be content which is having a peace of mind. There is a satisfying thought that one day we will be with our Savior and Father in Heaven for all eternity. There is a satisfying thought that one day we will be separated from the earthly body and given a new body. There is a satisfying thought that our friends and family who have trusted in Christ alone will forever be with us in Heaven with our Savior and Father in Heaven for all eternity.
THE PLAN OF SALVATION - THE GOSPEL
The Gospel is Jesus Christ died on the Cross for our sins (past, present, and future), He was buried, and He resurrected the third day to show us the payment for sin is paid in full.
●        I Corinthians 15:1-4: Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
God loves you. Lord Savior Jesus Christ was revealed in the flesh for one reason, and that is to save us from our sins.  Jesus Christ does not come to condemn individuals.  Jesus Christ comes to save us because we are all Hell doomed sinners without the Blood of Jesus Christ.
●        John 3:16-18:  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
All individuals are sinners. The payment for sin is death.
●        Romans 3:23: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
●        Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Christ died for your sin and resurrected for you.
●        II Corinthians 5:21: For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
●        I Corinthians 15:3-4: For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
If you believe in Christ alone, you receive eternal life.
●        John 6:47: Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
●        I John 5:13: These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
If you could be saved by being water baptized, doing good works, being a good person or following the Ten Commandments, why did (the God from Eternity Past, the God from Eternity Future) the Ever Presence Jesus Christ reveal Himself in the flesh and die on the Cross and resurrect the third day?
●        Galatians 2:21: I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
If you could earn salvation by doing those things, then Jesus Christ died in vain. However, Jesus Christ didn’t die in vain. Jesus Christ made a perfect sacrifice for sin. He is the Lamb of God, and only the Lamb of God can make a perfect sacrifice for sin. There is only one way to Heaven, and it is the belief in the Finished Redemptive Work of Jesus Christ.
●        Ephesians 2:8-9: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
●        Philippians 3:9: And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
●        Galatians 2:16: Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
●        Titus 3:5: Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
The resurrection is proof God the Father accepted Jesus Christ death payment for sin -death payment of past, present, and future sin.
People DO NOT go to Hell because they are “bad.” People go to Hell because they believe NOT the Gospel of Jesus Christ. People trust NOT in Jesus Christ as their Savior. People believe NOT Jesus Christ died on the Cross for their sins, burial, and resurrection. People do NOT trust alone in the finished redemptive work of Jesus Christ.
●        II Thessalonians 1:8-9: In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
Know that God is gracious to you, and He has already died for all your sins (past, present, and future), He was buried showing all the world He died for your sins, and He resurrected showing all the world that Jesus Christ fulfilled what the Father asked Him to do: IT IS FINISHED!
I pray you to believe in Jesus Christ right now for salvation -believe Jesus Christ died on the Cross for your sin, burial, and resurrection. Trust alone in Jesus Christ as your Savior.
If you know someone who is not saved, forward this message to them and share the greatest gift that one could ever receive.

Once Saved, Always Saved -"And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one" (John 10:28-30 KJV).
