I actually have my own private playlist (forgot I had one lmao) of this fic!! I do recommend giving these songs a chance because not only are they good, they are some of my main inspiration for writing some scenes. The lyrics fit the story line for real! TRUST! Idk if it was obvious, but I do title my chapters after song lyrics that fit the chapter vibes lolol. Anyways!!!

Bad Habits - Steve Stacy [This song is actually my main inspiration for the fic title. I had this idea in my head for so long, then this song came into my shuffle as I was driving and thinking of it, and then I was like “you know what, I AM writing and publishing this fic.” The title is a play in words. I mentioned this in my notes before but the phrase “I bite my tongue” is when someone holds their words or stops themselves from saying what they want, which is the main theme of the story. But I thought it was funny to say “I bit” instead because it’s silly to think someone wanting to say something so bad and then they just bite their tongue by accident. “Loser Stan,” I whisper into the void]

IFHY - Tyler, The Creator [This story has a lot of themes of jealousy so how could I NOT add this! I was actually listening to this song as I was writing chapter 6, and it even inspired the title for it! I mainly was thinking of this song in Stan’s POV, especially in that scene with Craig and Kyle, but the more you learn about Kyle’s character and POV in future chapters, you start to realize that this song really fits him too. Jealous Stan but possessive Kyle anyone? LET ME COOK]

Come Here - Dominic Fike [Im pretty sure this counts as spoilers but not really, but this song is the inspiration for chapter 11’s title! We’re still in Kyle’s POV and I feel like it really fits his desire for Stan in his POV. Plus, this song might be short but it’s one hell of a banger! 10/10]

Mistakes Like This - Prelow [Love this song for real! I feel like some of the lyrics could fit IBMT Stan but others fit Kyle more, in the end, I decided to settle to Kyle’s POV. Actually, this one is the inspo for chapter 9’s title!It talks about drunken love spurs so it’s immediately STYLE coded to me!!!]

Structure - Odd Sweetheart [YES!!!! This is the song that was sang in chapter 8 and there was even a whole ass animatic MADE with it! Yay, thank you Lyn!! And of course, it’s also the chapter’s title! BUT SERIOUSLY— Stan singing this song as he’s realizing his feelings for Kyle!!! I JUST- Auuuugghh!! I hate those idiots in love!]

Let’s Go - Stuck in the Sound [Yet another song that gets sang on chapter 8! This is actually the first song they play in their garage performance setlist because I feel like the lyrics really paint a picture to Stan’s dilemma in the beginning of the story to his now, current state. Yeah, you know that scene, mhm mhm🙂‍↕️, Stan was singing this babey!! It fits IBMT and it’s an actual head banger? 😎HELL YEAH]

I Got Drunk - Miya Folick [I LOVE MIYA FOLICK and I LOVE this song!! It’s STYLE coded and genuinely so freaking underrated!!! Any scenario where Stan gets drunk and confesses his feelings for Kyle is deadass THIS song!! I kinda want to write a one shots out of this one on god! EVERY STYLE SHIPPER SHOULD LISTEN TO IT! I PROMISE ITS THEM! IN THIS ESSAY-]

I know a lot of people get tired about hearing Stan’s drinking problems, but at the end of the day, a big part of his character is that he’s prone to fall into addicting habits (wether it’s hoarding, gambling, freemium, alcohol, etc). SO YES!! This song 100% DOES fit!!

I Want You - Mitski: I love Mitski so much! I do believe it fits them but I don’t know who’s POV exactly cuz it could go either or, so please let me know your opinion! I do love the inclusion of First Love/Late Spring, Stan’s POV goes BRRR on that one! What do you think of Old Friend being in Stan’s POV and Why Didn’t You Stop Me? being Kyle’s POV? 👀 I think it fits hehe. Shame is also a good one and I was actually listening to it as I was writing chapter 5 (you can actually tell because I hinted the lyrics in the first couple of paragraphs of it haha). Go figures!! As you can tell, I have a lot of Mitski songs in my library because my bestie is a BIG fan of hers, so she’s always listening to her. Lovefool - The Cardigan: Kyle. Yes, Kyle! It just fits pre-IBMT Kyle! Boy was so down bad, swooning like a freaking idiot before Bebe’s after-party incident in chapter 9. UGH! I hate them so much! They really need to fix their shit so they can go back to being all cringe and lovey dovey!!! I’m getting pissed off, maybe I SHOULD finish writing chapter 11!!

A New Kind Of Love - Frou Frou ft. Imogen Heap & Guy Sigsworth: Another fun fact! This song is also on my IBMT playlist! I love Imogen Heap so much!! I have some of her other songs on my other fic/character playlists too!

im not particularly active, or haruhi-dedicated. sorry if you're looking for that, but i'm sure there's lots of blogs out there that are!

i made that gif 9 (nine!) years ago. wow! back then there was a <2mb file size limit on images (apparently today it's 20mb!), so folks on tumblr who liked to make gifs needed to adjust the # of colors, cut frames, trim the dimensions, etc... it took a lot of time and effort for me, so when i got a piece of sakuga to run smoothly and look good, it was something i was proud of!

at the time, i really enjoyed making gifs and posting jokes and stuff on tumblr. it felt good to get lots of notes! and back then, it was much more common for people to use tumblr on desktop, where you could visit their tumblr page and browse it, see their custom theme, etc... so tags were often used to organize your own posts on the blog-level- a way of letting others browse them straight from your page. nowadays you have to jump through several hoops just to see someone's theme.

i tagged things that got lots of notes with tags like that because i was proud of them, and i wanted a little "hall of bangers" for visitors to be able to see- a "best of" collection.

i stopped doing that at some point- not because i'm ashamed of it, or because it was cringe- but just because i became a lot less active on here.

this isn't twitter (and no one on here will call it x)- it's first and foremost a blogging platform more than a social media network. so people make blogs, fill them with the stuff they like, and organize it however it pleases them.

it's part of what makes tumblr fun!

A lot happened since this thing last updated! I got COVID, had surgery, there was a failed government coup, and most importantly, several major sequences of this fic have been written in advance, both to expedite update speed and allow for less shitty storytelling.

Also, apparently y'all were still reading this thing while I was gone? So there is roughly a metric fucktonne of fan content you guys produced for this fic! Which is fucking bonkers to me.

Hello Enstarries~☆ I'm a newbie and wanted to share my kinda-first impressions of our maybe beloved idols bc the fandom (on tumblr) seems pretty 🤏 and so this might....idk serve as another entertaining post or smth. A viewpoint from a newcomer. I'll do each unit per post bc holy moly are there many and we'll start with Trickstar here. For a little structure, I'll begin with an overall impression (vibe, songs etc.) and then continue with indivdual members (appearance, personality etc.).

Before we start, you may wonder why it's a fresh? and kinda-first impression. Well, I've been listening to their songs for about 2 years (Eden & Crazy:B fan here) and so know a bit about them (mainly their banger songs), be it through memes, iceberg explanation, memes and wiki pages. But I only really got into it since the global release. So even if I have all these random out-of-context info, I still basically know nothing. I only read their Episode 1 in the game for this bc want to start with the ! era first before jumping into !!. Now, one last thing...

Typical first unit in idol games. Cheerful, innocent, ambitious and leading a revolution.....? That took me off at first, but, uh, good for them. Ngl their songs are boring. They remind me of Love Live's earliest songs and general idol songs. Pop, cheerful and encouraging messages, it's not bad. I just wouldn't listen to it if could. I do appreciate their preppier approach to the standard military inspired idol uniforms, though. Oh, the VA line-up is also 👁👁, like, damn.

5/10 - average, I don't have a strong opinion of them

Hokuto Hidaka

I love his voice. Tomoaki Maeno's voice is just melting butter~🧈 At first, I thought he'd be the boring, serious, smart blue coded character out of the red-blue duo but I learnt my lesson with Deuce (Twisted Wonderland). He's earnest, honest, responsible and doesn't suffer from trauma with his famous parents, which is pretty good and possibly rare. I haven't heard a lot from him. He actually looks boring🧍‍♂️but this card is really pretty for some reason?? Apparently comes off as cold often as well, which is very relatable 😓

5.5/10 - average guy (the irony)

Subaru Akehoshi

The 6th redhead, who's the poster character for their game. He looks like the standard first boy you meet and help to achive whatever the goal of the game and his dream is as his manager/producer/director/master/etc idk. Cheerful, naive, energetic. I don't really expect a lot from him but Sakuya (A3!), another redhead poster boy, became my most beloved baby sunshine 🥰, so...I'll just wait and see. His smile is pretty cute. And he likes money and sparkling things??? Random but not a bad thing.

6/10 - average but positive, slightly adorable

Makoto Yuuki

Funky guy with glasses 👓 The only other character I reacall rn with colored rims is 707 (Mystic messenger). I haven't seen a lot of blondes with glasses, I think. He's kinda cute. If you haven't noticed yet, glasses are a tiny soft spot of mine. He seems to be the token clumsy dumdum but is self-aware and a bit self-conscious of that. His chibi has :3!!! A worried one even. Also, one of the grey haired ones or so is a really big fan or so of him and chases him? My condolences 😔

6/10 - still a bit boring but glasses and :3, he's trying his best

Mao Isara

Initially, when I first listened to their songs, I thought Subaru's VA was his. It just seemed to fit better. He looks like a chatterbox and a social butterfly. Trendy and always up to date online. Maybe it's due to Cater (Twisted Wonderland), who looks similiar. But he's the student council president??? Looks truly decieve. I like his enthusiasm to have a just and actual working school. Well, he's still pretty friendly and so it seems.

6/10 - big role he carries but he's got the spirit, also cute

Honorary mention:

Anzu

Our dear MC, who has a lot of fans as well despite: 1. being a self-insert, 2. not having any real lines?, and 3. being a girl in a joseimuke game. Through A3!'s Izumi Tachibana, I learnt just how amazing self-insert MCs could be if they weren't self-inserts and had actual personality. I'm looking a bit forward to seeing more of her but I'll stay cautiously optimistic. Girl failed a revolution at her old school and attempts the next one right after her transfer, what an unyielding will. A bit miffed, that everyone seems to have a good relationship with her but is forced to stay ~professional~. Like, what is the use of names if you don't use them?! Let them call her Anzu or so >:( She also overworks quite often? You're not even 20....pls REST!

8/10 - I trust in my fellow Enstarries, maybe there will come a day when she gets her own card (perhaps as an anniversary gift?) (I really wanted one for Izumi (A3!), April fools has every side character except her. The audacity?!)

Conclusion

It's a bit weird how everyones' individual impression scores higher than the overall one. I suppose, it's like how mixing everything you like won't necessarily make an even better thing.

I don't mean to do that but I always just somehow end up writing way too much bc I want to deliver my thoughts precisely. It's nearing 6am rn and I accidentally deleted my first draft. such fun questions!! I think I answered a few of these before but I'm queue-ing my asks up so you prob haven't seen them. I'm happy to answer again though!

The following information is a big spoiler alert!!!

Proceed with caution.......

I basically knew my time on tumblr had arrived back in October-November of 2020. I didn't have any good ideas anymore but I knew if I wanted to go, my last fic would have to be a banger! I would have to make my exit perfect!

I was thinking about writing my last fic on Jin because he was the first person I ever wrote for, so it's only right for him to be the last. I was also thinking maybe I should make it OT7. Or maybe both?

After brainstorming, I remembered I had an idea when I was watching To All The Boys I Loved Before. I thought that her love letters would each come true and she could choose in the end which guy she wanted to be with. Obviously the movie did not go in that direction, but I thought I could use that idea. And maybe the way I could explain this concept is through another character.....like the 'A Christmas Carol', a ghost from the future would visit her and take her through these timelines. and why not make that person Jin? win-win.

That's basically how the story came to be.

As to how I decided each member's stories, I basically fell into their most basic stereotypes in order to craft each timeline.

Yoongi's typically known as the cold guy. Can't tell you how many fics I've read about him where he neglects the main reader LMAO. so I decided to go with that route as well, but ofc our Yoongi is a swell, soft guy and in my eyes he seems like the reliable, responsible type (hence why he's in a lot of domestic!AUs as well, or at least for my fics), so I made sure to add that in and not neglect it.

all in all, I imagined Yoongi to be a stand-up guy who stands up for others even if he's outcasted but he doesn't care. quiet confidence. high morals. introverted. but also ambitious and hard working - which obviously came at a cost.

for Hoseok, I fell into his bubbly, radiant stereotype. Hoseok was honestly a tough one to give flaws too LOL (spoiler alert, he's my main guy in Seven Kinds of Love for a reason lol). We all know Hoseok is the happy type but he's also very considerate, responsible, calm, etc. There was a moment I was tempted to swap him out for Jin LOL. But I couldn't do it. He already got his time to shine in my other fic lmao. so after some consideration, I just decided to make him not very perceptive. + so very amazing and sunshine-like that our main character feels distant from him. as if they're worlds apart.

Namjoon is our academic. ofc. I did say I used their stereotypes and for him, it was just easy to envision him as the pursuer of education and knowledge. and I imagined our reader character to not exactly be as hardcore as him, so their mismatch came easily.

Jimin was a bit more interesting to think about. I was deciding if I wanted to make him fall into the best friend's brother trope or the roommate turned lover trope. I ended up going with the former and I ended up making poverty the main issue LOL. Just because I was doing a lot on personality mismatches (ie. Namjoon + Hoseok, and on some level Yoongi), so I wanted something different. I wanted a different sort of conflict. Something a bit more external and not exactly between them. Jimin's such a sweetheart too, the poverty situation just seemed fitting to make it pretty sad overall lol.

Taehyung is OBVIOUSLY our family guy. Dude loves kids clearly and I'm pretty sure he's talked about having a big family. So there it was. That was gonna be his story. Lots and lots of kids!! haha ngl from my perspective (the writer) I think OC would've had a swell time with Tae.

Jungkook's was a bit different. He was gonna be the last on the list so I honestly didn't give him a lot of limelight or time to shine. it's unfortunate but I had to prioritize the main storyline over his dazzling-ness lol. I decided to go with the bad boy type and he suits it nicely. the motorcycle, tattoo, tough guy that's really sweet inside.

idk anything about the grace period for deltarune u can just keep this ask in the attic until that’s over.. anyway.. i really liked chap 2 i played it in one sitting 😭 the rpg combat is enjoyable enough and just the right amount more complex than the undertale combat is, although not very difficult. very touching power of friendship moments minus that fucking bird man. some of the dialogue felt quite fandom tropey and surface-level, and queen’s lines (love her tho) were hit or miss for me. i think the biggest frustration i have with it is all the useless random encounter characters clogging up your world 😞😞 there’s only so many wacky one-liners toby can give them and i am not invested enough to care! also some of those designs are uglie!! there are better ways to make a world feel real and lived in. same thing happened with undertale.

BUT it was a great time! i liked the juxtaposition between the ultimately harmless antics and charming banter with the gang and queen, and the more sinister plot going on in the background. most obviously in the ending. toriel and susie making a pie while kris RIPS OUT THEIR SOUL….spoiler warning.. did u see the theory that the soul aka red heart is you the player operating kris the vessel? i’m definitely not a theorist but i like seeing all the loose plot ends i’m having a good time. i love noelleeeeee 💞💞💞💞and i liked susie a lot more this chapter. when ralsei taught her a healing spell 😖😖 i still don’t really care about ralsei though 😓

i also played it in one sitting it was so GOOD. i don't care that it was 2 am here when it was released i wasss ecstatic and the game was so fucking GOOD tonby the fox delivered!! it was so so worth the wait! the music was so much better than in chapter 1 imo, like... my castle town? the cyber fields theme? the queen's fight? spamton g spamton??? rouxls' "fight"?? BANGERS. i only see bangers. the new gameplay mechanics were also very fun!! i for one kinda struggled with the mice puzzles but not nearly as much as that one section with the traffic jams where you have to go down and back up or whatever. what the hell was that? i'm surprised i actually got past it. i loved the parts in cyber field though where you had to move on beat with the music that was sooo fun!! more of that! i prefer the fighting system in undertale ngl but it's mostly bc the undertale bosses are... just so good. the one boss who rivalises for now to me is queen, although rouxls is also very fun.

as for the story itself... i liked it :) susie & noelle are fucking ADORABLE. i think they deserve to be happy forever like not even together just individually as characters they're the fucking best. susie's grown so much that's my girl... wough... ralsei i do like but... i don't trust him :D i don't think he's evil but he knows too much and tells us too little until he can't keep it for himself and i don't like that. like bro you're gonna get us in trouble stop. but ALSO some ppl speculate that himself is being misled and that the fountains wouldn't bring the roaring, which is an interesting theory. (also i miss lancer being more relevant)

uhh kris is... well... kris... :)... yeah i did hear about that theory i'm in a discord server where ppl have been going on and on about theories since the game dropped LMAOO we're all insane. um. my personal theory is that there's another knight, or that kris is at least also influenced by an "evil force" or whatever, and we're the good force influencing them bc otherwise they're just a normal albeit mischievous kid. and the stretch part is that uhhh there's two knight pieces on a chessboard, ik this isn't about chess at all but king of spades does tell you at the end of chapter 2 that you'll meet a more powerful foe = the queen, coincidentally in chess the queen is stronger than the king. hmmmmmmmmmmm. lmao i don't think my parallel here is right but it's fun to think about anyway

did you see the superboss? i didn't fight him myself but he's so fun. also @ everyone who said he's gonna be a tumblr sexyman i hate that you're right shut that shit down HJKSNFKJSDHG. also did you see the secret fucked up pipis route? it's horrible. genuinely... i watched a streamer play it and 😳 uh. well i didn't even hate berdly before anyway yeah he's annoying but like he's a snot-beaked kid i'm not gonna wish him... whatever happens in this route. legit scarring. and poor noelle... pffbbgtbg. hate this so much. but i think it was done so bad and horrible on purpose, with how specific your gameplay has to be for you to be able to complete it tonby really was like "you wanna be an asshole? undertale wasn't enough? fine. work for it. and also suffer" nskjshf. i'm never doing it <3

lastly FUCKING QUEEN!!!!!!! QUEEN MY LOVE!!!!! BEST CHARACTER. i love her sosososo much it's unreal. and i didn't mind any character designs much, i'm not too complicated in that regard shfkjsdfh i love the tasques and tasque manager though :) also the... idk their names... the butler dudes? they're so cute. swatch's design is neat
